Hackers spawning vehicles in 1.7.3 - Plea to DayZ Devs

Recommended Posts

I had another thread on this but it was older and was on dealing with a deluge of boats. In 1.7.2.6 there was a way to get rid of these massive spawns of vehicles or buildings that are spamming the server logs and muddying the landscape. In 1.7.3 this way doesn't work. Now not only do I have a deluge again of boats, I have a deluge of policecars and cannot find out who spawned these in the logs. Restarting and trying the old method does nothing. Blowing these things up does nothing because they come back after a restart.

PLEASE for the love of god, if we can't stop them from doing this to our servers.. give us a valid way to get rid of non dayz vehicles or boats and buildings that shouldn't be in certain locations.. ie.. boats on land.

This goes for a huge amount in my files. There is new logging but my managed hosts at defcon wont even make the next beta available until they test it (what they said). If I can't find the person in the createvehicle or regular script, remoteexec log or the rpt log.. then where else can I find them. Vehicle spam and crashed vehicle spam that results from this is crippling to servers as the lag grows and grows. Restarts do nothing. Help us to help you. I love DayZ. I love trying to be a good admin. But this is just plain ridiculous. I spend my time and money to help your game grow. Please help me to deal with this so its not my fulltime second job when I come home.

Being able to do nothing about this... make me a sad panda..

Not sure how you spend money making the mod grow.

We dont make any money from the serverhosting companies offering services.

Anyway, as for your question.

Make sure you run the latest server version and update your filters.

Check your scripts logs for any spawning attempts. A lot of new holes have been patched.

Thanks I have updated and keep it up to date as soon as the hosting companies allow me. I spend probably 4 hrs a night going through logs each day to report hackers and try and keep ahead of the tide. I hope the new logging helps too. Unfortunately it doesn't solve getting rid of stuff like this. So I give up. I will report and boot the hackers and my good players will get the windfall until it all blows up. If I can't get rid of this, then there really isn't much else I can do.

Also let me explain something.. Server Admins spend their own money to host your game. Server admins help drive traffic for your game and provide a service out of their own pocket. They are your bread and butter until you decide to host all of this on your own server structure. You make money from game sales and we provide the place for people to play by hosting it. Making it less of a headache for server admins is always a good thing and I am sure we are all glad to hear there is better logging. Our lives will be happier, more players will want to play on public servers and buy DayZ and BI makes more money in Arma 2. Such is the cycle of $$$.

His money helps you from more and more advertising, good word of mouth. I am seriously surprised at the unprofessional response from you. I am guessing that your possibly a younger man, that does not have much experience in this type of forum, or possibly trying to become an upstart in a new business. I completely agree with the OP on this, if this mod is so easily hacked, are we to expect a better solution from the "standalone"? You guys have a huge amount of this community fearing the lack of control over hacks and exploits due to your track record so far.

Now I Love what you guys have done with this game, I was an arma fan long long before "dayz". BTW: I am sure their are going to be people that make it very clear how wrong I am, and that they haver total confidence in Bohemia, and the DayZ dev team, but you can store that in your ass right along with their noses.

That was humor, I really do love what you guys are doing and I am so looking forward to the next installment. Real sims are the direction I have been dreaming about in the PC community for along time.

Hi, Im sorry if it was unclear and if it was a bit hasty.

The dayzmod.com is a community that makes no money.

Most of us arent affiliated with Bohemia Interactive.

DayZmod was initially created by Rocket, but the vast majority of the community working on this mod is not making any money - it's all done in our spare time.

You do realize DayZ is a mod of arma2, that being the DayZ team did not make arma2's engine. And this engine is what allows such hacking/modding.

DayZ team has no control over that. Only BattlEye can try and detect it.

Being the standalone is using a different modified engine they'll have the ability to lock it down and not allow such scripts. So chances are high that the only thing you'll possibly see are map hacks. Which depending on how the standalone's engine is done could make those almost useless.

The DayZ team did amazing for what they had to work with. You can't blame them for the hacking or that they can't stop it. It's completely out of their hands in this mod.

Im sorry for my lack of understanding within the Dev team. I had no idea you guys were not going to be working on the future project. If you were, that would be profit due to the job pay itself. Again, I had no idea the team that was handling the current code was not going to be included in the next installment. My condolences, as this seems a bit like BS to work so hard, only to be left out on the "money" making side.
