Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted November 8, 2012 Setting forest fires seems super complicated for today's gaming technology at a massive scale... so... I don't see that happening.

Hetstaine 10852 Posted November 9, 2012 Fire has been suggested many times, i like the idea of being able to light shit up ..problem is ..how long do you think it would take before every server would be a charred wasteland ? 2 minutes..1 ?
Rastamaus 323 Posted November 9, 2012 Fire has been suggested many times, i like the idea of being able to light shit up ..problem is ..how long do you think it would take before every server would be a charred wasteland ? 2 minutes..1 ?you could make it very rare, I heard fuel is going to be harder to come by on the SA, if that is true then the Petroleum wars that would rage between the arsonists and the vehicle hoarders might add an interesting facet to the game. Hetstaine 10852 Posted November 9, 2012 I would love to burn out a sniper from below who was lodged in a firestation or such, but i would shed tears if i saw the forests burn..my beloved forests.
Rastamaus 323 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Forest fires could be season dependant, if during the height of summer the server has had X days seriously hot dry weather then crashing a chopper, throwing a molotov or lighting a fire may result in an inferno, this would be very rare but it's effect would be devastating. It could destroy tents, stashed vehicles and any players unfortunate enough to be in that particular area. It would bring with it renewal. Edited November 9, 2012 by Rastamaus
Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted November 9, 2012 Farcry 2...its not a new game...it had wildfiresIs Farcry 2 a huge persistant world with 40 players? I'm all for as much stuff that can be crammed into this game and run smoothly, but I just don't think technology is capable of that.
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted November 9, 2012 Do residents of Chernarus plus get many fires? seems to me its a bit like U.K climate, I haven't had a sunny day yet.If you need Napalm for a sniper, that sniper is doing his job well!
