How to get DayZ?

Hey, this is "21st and last" or "Sno" and i was wondering what installations do i need for DayZ? I've played this game at my brothers and created an account, but he's as loose headed as they come, and he says "he doesn't know, his friend helped him" or something like that. I've read that you don't need any expansions you can get it through certain websites, for a fee, but you won't have to buy the other games, and i've also seen a cover for it, so i was wondering is there a disc version of this game that you don't need the expansions for? Or do i have to buy the combined ops to download Dayz? A better question what is the cheapest and legal way to get this game?

The legitimate, legal way to play DayZ is to purchase Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead.

There is no disc version, and I'm not aware of any special internet download with a fee. That sort of thing sounds very suspicious to me.

Arma 2 is a good game anyway, just buy the pair.

buy arma 2 OA, and then download dayz commander (free). commander will do the rest.

Download ARMA 2 Cominded Operations from steam (or buy it in store your call) and install day z commander. It updates the mod, and additional maps (lingor, Panthera) and is easy to use.

BTW you can buy disk retail versions. I know this because it's what I own.
