predator_v2 0 Posted May 7, 2012 I hope someone of the DayZ staff gonna read this.In my opinion the weapon sounds are one of the major downsides of Arma 2 OA (vanilla) and thereby of DayZ. Example: Winchester has a really crappy quiet sound when shooting, but is a really "loud" gun ingame and gonna lure lot of Zs. Or concerning PvP, you are getting slug sniped quiet often and cant even hear where the first missing shots came from.Solution: Allow one or more "selected" sound modifications, until DayZ can provide us with their own ones. My suggestion would be "J.S.R.S 1.4.3"http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?104514-J-S-R-S-1-4-3Certainly one of the best modifications for Arma 2 OA. sorophx 25 Posted May 7, 2012 off-topic: I hear JSRS is crap and VobSound is much better. never trying any of them, because ACEX_SM suits my needs anyway
predator_v2 0 Posted May 7, 2012 Could any staff member please comment this?@sorophx:Sound mods are something emotionally. Most JSRS users love the mod and hate any other sound mods. Most Vobsound users say the same. Thats why i would suggest, allowing the two or three most common sound modifications.
rocket 16567 Posted May 7, 2012 DayZ utilizes the distance value of sounds when calculating audibility of your character to zombies. It is unfair for different clients to have different audibility values. Some sound mods tested don't work as they use both ArmA and ArmA2 conventions for sound file definition. There is the possibility that one could be integrated in the future.
oilman 72 Posted May 8, 2012 Can't wait to spend a few hours having to download homer_simpson_doh.wav over and over.
satsumomo 0 Posted May 19, 2012 Can specific servers have the keys enabled? And of course, kick you if you don't have the specific sound mod?Oliman, that doesn't happen really, you only download scripts, not sounds :P
survivalist 19 Posted May 19, 2012 JSRS is an amazing sound mod. If any should be incorporated, it's this. But, no modifications should be permitted, as they're exploitable.

aussiestig 681 Posted February 14, 2013 is it the future yet?? ;)Nothing has changed, J.S.R.S is still an advantage, and it also uses grenade explosion sounds for tin cans and other things you throw. There are servers out there that enable it, but it's not worth the trouble for server admins to enable it when such a small portion use it. irl-calibre 744 Posted February 14, 2013 I play on a server that has J.S.R.S enabled and actively encourages everyone to use it - which I do, and tin cans sounds like thrown tin cans, not grenades + suppressed weapons sound amazing, also I had someone light me up with a mk48 from some trees and I nearly shat myself! the sound was amazing..
