How to increase FPS?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering how to increase my FPS in DayZ.

My current system specs are:

AMD FX4100 @3.6GHz CPU

8gb RAM

Nvidia 8800 Ultra GPU

7200rpm HDD

With these, I get around 30fps normally, dropping to 12-18fps in cities. (On lowest settings)

I have tried the RAMDisk stuff, which is supposed to speed up DayZ, but I have seen no change.

I currently have some money, and am wondering whether either of these upgrades will increase my FPS, and if so which one will increase it more?

Radeon HD6870 GPU

or

Crucial 128gb M4 SSD

or overclocking my CPU?

I know SSD's don't normally increase FPS in games, only loading times, but apparently Arma2 doesn't cache textures. Also, I am wondering if a better GPU will increase FPS because I have heard that Arma 2 doesn't use much of the GPU, and is more CPU dependent.

I would appreciate anyone with some knowledge/experience's help!

Just lower the settings or go to a website called test your computer.net or something just google it and it will tell you on what certain setting and what parts of your computer is unable to run it
