Did you not get in trouble while you were testing that out?

Probably a good idea to post your findings anonymously. ^_^

Mythbusters did go at this on a pig.

Nice, it's great to recieve that lot of feedback from you.

Really happy, that you've found this idea interesting.

Was reading all your comments and considering, found out some key points.

Armor is too Heavy.

Got ya!

That's right. So what i think about is not to make a full amor set, but only some pieces of them.

Listen up, lads. Imagine Soldiers in 14th Century? They were in full armor sets, and they still managed to swing their swords for 3-4 hours, or even full DAYS!

So, what the heck we can't carry a chainmail vest?

Tadam! Check & Mate about Weight!

Modern metals are much lighter then old ones.

You can have a really light and good steel vest.

Just google: Light, Solid metals. I googled and found this:

-Chrome - very solid metal, also very popular, and quite light.

-Vertu phones are made from Titan. Is it heavy - no. Titan one of the most solid metals.

FINALLY!!!

Remember Fallout game?

There were guys in full iron armor set!

And? They were runing and etc!

Look at Fallout armor! Pure metal covering full body. That would ideally protect from a zombie. YES!

Second point is about swords.

Go look at the Walking Dead series.

Epic films, really.

There is a woman, Michelle with long Samurai Sword. She is fast as hell, and cuts zombie heads with one slash!

DUAL WIELDING SWORDS - EPICCCCC

Any more arguments against?

My simple response to adding swords and the like is a regrettable unrealistic from me.

I'm usually all for adding such things but the simple fact is near to every sword in the world that exists now is purely decorative...and would break at the slightest attempt at combat usage.

Combat built swords are exceptionally rare and quite often illegal and so would not logically fit into the game less we abandon the realism for game play aspects.

Oh man.

Go watch The Walking Dead series!

There is's an afroamerican woman with Samurai Sword.

She is Epic.

Still unrealistic to include in DayZ, they aren't exactly common place items, perhaps if it was set in america where all the loony gun shops that would sell these kind of things reside, but in other countries I bet these would be illegal or require a strict run permit to own making it a super rare item....and for zombie killing no better then an AXE which IS common place...and already a 1 hit KO weapon on zombies.

hi,

Medieval armor would be tottaly unrealistic and make you kill in no time. It's noisy, heavy and shinny. Moreover how would you find a real medevial armor? I mean not a movie one.

Maybe riot gear you could find on cops bodies.

Something like this:

As SgtSnug allready mentionned real combat swords are very rare. But I think it would be cool to have few in the game :).

cya.

Yeah, this riot is very good.

ACtually - i want to be abloe to have a very big variety of different clothes, that will help me personalize my character.

If your talking armour.

Kevlar vest

Bullet Vest

Boots

Helmets

ghillie

I debated concept, but the idea is a typical mmo idea where you can equip clothes and equipment into slots...so...head slot..vest slot, hands, shoes, etc

Kevlar - protection vs melee, less bleed chance.

Bullet vest - reduce damage from bullet body shots.

ghillie - camouflage.

civilian shoes - default.

Sports shoes - quiet, mildly improved movement.

Heavy boots - noisier, reduce broken leg chance, slightly slower.(in standalone would have greater durability, as they intend to add wear and tear gear degradation).

Riot helmet - reduce knock out chance.

Army helmet - reduce knock out chance and small arms fire damage to head. (if they had a character weight concept like ACE would weigh player down exhausting him faster, possibly stand alone feature).

Head lamp - head mounted torch.

This kind of concept would work in dayz...I'm sure it'll be somewhere in standalones plans but is a ton of work, that won't be considered till after that's released..

Yeah, that's exactly what i was tninking about.

Same like Skyrim, or Fallout system.

Clothes into different slots.

That would be really cool.

I never heard of any regulations of medieval melee weapons. Not even here in Germany where gun laws are very strict.

I agree on beeing them rare and not really necessary. Implementing them would only be about diversity.

80% of thw World museums contain medieval armor or weapons.

I am sure there will be at least 1 museum in DayZ Standalone!
