ADD MORE STUFF TO DO...besides PVP...seriously

Recommended Posts

Optional things like restoring power and water to cities...barricading and fortifying locations...(going out on a limb here) Radio transmissions that list supply caches and things to do (you would of course need a radio)

Just do something...make killing zombies fun or fulfilling in some kind of way...it is asinine to clear a whole area of zombies just to have them respawn in your face...i have mentioned in several old OLD topic about how respawning the zombies say 200 meters away from the town/area they were killed and scripted to walk back to the location they died at. That feature would give way to two cool things.

1. You could clear out areas and actually feel like your DOING something that has a point...

2.second the way the respawned zombies would just come wandering back in would be ominous as shit if you happened to be there as they returned...since they would essentially be roaming back in bulk.

That idea for zombie respawn doesn't seem too farfetched since it is possible to spawn specific zombies at specific locations (i.e military zombies at military zones) so i guess just create bubbles or groups of zombies that would be given a location to patrol roam and what not then respawn a set distance away and walk back.

P.S

Here is another topic about activities...more so the topic of storage and putting forth effort to protect your shit...

SIDE NOTE: I like PVP i do...im just sick and tired of PVP having no rhyme or reason...ya its the end of the world...but im damn sure we all wouldn't just go human hunting in a ZOMBIE OUTBREAK!!!....so ya i got an issue when a ZOMBIE mod focuses more on fucking killing eachother than ACTUAL SURVIVAL!! If i wanted to just run around and shoot bitches i would go play GTA or CoD....scratch that...i just realized there are WAY more people who shoot on sight in dayz than in GTA...wow...that is sad.for me now that i have realized that fact....

Trust me im a koala

I know you've probably been here for awhile. But the limits Arma 2 sets on DayZ alpha makes it just not possibly. Wait for Standalone for more than just "PvP for the best gear or for the lulz".

I think survival should be harsh in Dayz with death to thirst and hunger always looming over the survivors heads but the food and drink everywhere takes this away.Take Namalsk's food spawn rates in the big city compared to the rest of the map.At first I did not hit the big city and I loved the map with a passion. But the other day I visited it and left with matches,an alice pack,5 cans beans,5 cans of soda,a canteen and finally a Camo skin. The city is awesome feeling but the apocalypse feeling it had subsided when I filled my backpack with all the goods I needed. It completely has the look of a city way past its time and seriously looted but that is not the case.I then uncharacteristically went to a rooftop to kill for the lulz. Finally, after not seeing anyone for a 1/2 hour,I leave the town feeling it was dangerous and voila...instantly bored.WTF just happened I thought and it hit me that scavenging is a game in itself in the same way as shooting other players. They form a symbiotic relationship by causing you to look at the survivor you spot differently. This same thing happened to me in Fallout3 where at one instant I was in the apocalypse and then the next I was carrying a supermarket in my backpack and was taking on waves of people who wanted to die.Food everywhere and yet people were bandits....

Where before every town from big to small felt like that thin line between life and death were now just pretty graphics. So I went to waters edge, emptied out my back pack andthen ran down south as far away as I could get from those game breaking items.I was still bored though and thought to myself that maybe the magic of Namalsk was gone as I now knew the big city was where you went to loot up.But then just as fast it was back as my thirst icon started blinking red and my food icon was on the way down.....I was starving again and to make matters worse I was down south where food is scarce.Once again the next town I spot seemed essential to me and the more I KNEW that it was most likely empty the more I had a need to search and scavenge thru them. When I had a full back pack I just ran past them since they carried useless items but now I was once again desperate, losing blood and to top it off I had a precious MK 48 which was the first one I ever found.I looked thru garbage cans,up ladders, farm house roofs and just everywhere I spotted as I was desperate to survive just a bit longer.Funny how each new loot spot was not filled with riches but instead were filled with the reminder of where I was....and back to the apocalypse I went!! :D

Its a sweet feeling when your hungry and you find a can of beans or an unlucky animal crosses your path just as your icon starts blinking.Your still low on health and so your constantly scavenging. Its also great to find watering holes on map to keep you going. Its even better when your in that ruined town's super market(the one with the huge boat sitting in the middle of it)that has nothing but cans everywhere and spot a well geared survivor actually looking in garbage cans for a bit to eat.Its awesome when he spots you and decides to run away instead.Probably down on health and did not wanna risk dying to one bullet from a noob.

Maybe for Chenarus+ we could have a day 5 map and a day 200 map where one has plenty of items allowing a very high PVP w/squads etc and the other being based more on pure survival with PVP being done for realistic reasons. Both maps would have equal amounts of players IMO.

From what I've heard the standalone is gonna put a lot more focus back on survival. Should be good!

How about increase the zombie's awareness inside of the big city's? make them spawn twice as much as normal and make them smarter eg see you from more of a distance and maybe they attack in hordes of 10-30 at a time this would make the city's dangerous to go in. Stop the pvp (not completely) because you would be more worried about the zombies.

This would also add the survival as hitting a big city for supply's is actually dangerous and a last resort

And that the city's would have tons of zombies in anyway not just around 20

But a down side is if its harder to get supply's then it may increase the amount of bandits :/
