DZR_Mikhail 2424 Posted October 30, 2012 I'm persuaded. Thank you everyone. Most people would prepare for the night and spend it in a shelter. Only a few will be nightstalking.Ok. I'm happee.
speca 193 Posted October 30, 2012 Night is great (Until everyone had NVG's...)I remember running around with Flares, chem lights and Remingtons with lights on it in my group, we were always on the look out and everything was so tense, now it's just well, PvP.+1 for this idea. hogscraper 328 Posted January 27, 2013 I like where this idea comes from, but in order to lock a person into light/dark based on what their own timezone would make it impossible to play together for people half a world a part. Some of my friends I play with are in Eastern Europe. If they are still awake when I get off work in USA EST, we would have zero chance to ever play together as our local servers are only synced in day/night for very short periods of time. I come home and my local time is light, they are looking at midnight or past their local time and would be locked into dark. I'm also not sure what the ramifications of locking my character to only one server would impose on friends being able to play together either. Being able to find a non-full server for five or so people is pretty easy right now as you just look in the list. If my guy can only load on one server, I'm totally against that. I have had to abandon a few characters on private hives that grew to high traffic servers as it was very hard to get in when I have the time to play and impossible for a group of us to get together. If you divided the world up into twelve 2 hour chunks or six 4 hour chunks and had all servers in those locations have unique characters, that would make more sense and I wouldn't mind having to gear up two or three guys instead of a dozen. The bigger problem with night time is trying to balance it against the needs of the new with the needs of people that have been playing a while. Getting rid of nvg and thermal might be the only way to balance this. At present, there is zero reason for a new player or a fresh spawn to want to play at night. Anything they can use to see is an instant beacon for anyone with a decent rifle. There is no sneaking if you can't see without the flashlight/flare/chem light and there is no living if anyone else can see you with it. I would love to see night time strictly enforced when its time for that server to be night, but only if I can at least have moon light or if no scopes worked with them. I'm not sure there is a fix here that wouldn't radically change the game.
jman 8 Posted March 13, 2013 Like the first poster mentioned I don't want to be locked out from playing with friends. If that can be avoided I guess it would be ok.
ShokeR (DayZ) 29 Posted March 13, 2013 I don't really like this Idea, becasue If you force people to play on night when they don't want to they will just won't play at all and wait for the next day to play in day time again. Also if you create a character in night time and want to move to another server for some reasons you can't really do that .Or If you want to play with a friend and he play on night server and you on morning server?People don't play on night not becasue they scare , becasue they can't see anything in night server and using flashlight its really dumb and annoying. dulix11 731 Posted March 14, 2013 I would agree with this as long as the stupid flashlight becomes more efficient. Its so shaky and uncontrollable. There also should be some light from the moon, so it isn't pitch black and unplayable.

I'm not willing to deprive players of choice and force them into night or day time. I just want to have choice. If person is seeing the night comes, he can choose to leave server if he doesn't like night gameplay. The thing I suggest is that server admin can't abuse the ability to change server time at will. He chooses his core time, timezone, DayZ staff approves his erver and from now on he can't change it just by restrating server. He can request timezone change at any time - no problem. Sends request and timzone changed. You see, the present state forces everyone to play at day time. Night time is ignored and unrealistically skipped by restarts. That's the problem. If you like the server and wanna play there often, you must face the risk that you can get in night unprepared if you plan you survival badly. If you're wise, you're planning it and is never caught off guard. I'd really like to play at night. I mean actively play, where everything works and matters and bring certain advantages. But now I'm having NO choice. You see? There almost no night servers. And there is no chance to find some poor soul that is caught at night time unprepared. I hope you see my point.Survival is survival and night time cannot be ignored in this aspect. Whether you want it or not, you must survive. You prefer day time and it is more comfotable for you? But as I already told somewhere - DayZ is not about pleasing players and satisfy their comfort requests. It's about survival, true and authentic. So night time is part of it and I'm afraid you can't escape night in real life just because you don't like it.
