If NOT then this would prove to be a big problem. But i think the devs would not have missed this.

Most likely when dogs are implemented they can get into cars as a passenger, or they can be set to stay in an area. I personally would only like them to be able to get into pickups, transports with the huge back, buses, and maybe a motorcycle if they add a side-car. Still, this issue will be addressed eventually, whichever way it goes.

Dogs are probably just going to follow a similar command structure to what Arma already has for squad members. In Arma, there's dozens of commands for your squad including ordering them to get into vehicles and even specific seating (Though I doubt the dog can drive).

The dogs update probably isn't going to happen. The devs are too busy with DayZ standalone and I'd rather have that anyway. I'm fully burned out on the mod, don't really play any more.

Yes it is fully possible with scripting.

It could be done with those commands: addAction and attachTo

To make it simple, when player have a dog and is near a vehicle who can support cargo, action appears in the player action menu, player can choose to order his dog to get in. If yes, the dog is attached to the passenger seat.
