xxanimusxx 0 Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) Hello there fellow DayZetters,I'm having a peculiar problem for some time now and didn't know what to do anymore...The thing is: Im playing DayZ with my girlfriend and she's - needless to say - hooked to our home router by LAN, so we have the same WAN-IP.Everytime we try to login into the same server the following occurs (observed and reported by a friend of ours who also joined the same server):I'm joining the server and see the lobby with our friend who is already inMy GF tries to join: [a] It succeeds: My friend reports that my name disappeared from the list and instead the name of my gf appeared (I don't see her after all) It fails: She can't login - the only thing she sees is "Waiting for host" and she has to cancelThis happened in several servers already, we are both running Arma 2 v1.62.98220/DayZ 1.7.2.6 and connection to servers with the same versions. When she's in the lobby and I try to connect the same thing happens with me like I wrote above (case [a] and ).But the most mystical part about this is: After we both joined the server (one of us won't show up in the list) and the one showing in the list clicks "Ok" to continue playing the loading screen appears for both of us! Surely no one of us really came across receiving the mission file but it is as if the servers acts upon our WAN-IP and not considering our GUID's.We had this problem right after we purchased Arma2 and installed DayZ, but after some time this problem was gone - I don't know if it's because we updated or some other factors, but the problem is right back and annoys us because now we can't play together and that was the sole purpose why we bought it...Did this happen to you guyz as well or am I doing something wrong here? terrvik 2409 Posted October 27, 2012 This guy is playing DayZ with his girlfriend... GOD, this world is really degrading...What a cheerful fella you seem to be. Go to bed, kid.To OP, I had a similiar problem a while back with my brothers Steam and mine. Have you played on the same computer? Logged in on different Steam accounts on the same computer or something like that? The same CD-key can have been registered on both computers and then it would be the same GUID. :)

xxanimusxx 0 Posted October 27, 2012 Sorry forgot to mention that we don't have Steam, we bought the retail version and entered two different Serialkeys while installing. Also we didn't play on the same computer or anythin like that, we also have two different GUID's from what I can tell considering the Number in the Profile (we also have a small squad and it also recognizes her GUID correctly). VidKo 53 Posted October 27, 2012 It might be a long shot, but have you tried opening different internal ports for your both computers in the router's setting for port forwarding? And another question: does it happen on all servers? It could also be the server settings and it's not fault on your end.

It could also be the server settings and it's not fault on your end.I might try to change the port forwarding rules but aren't they just for the serverside of the game? I mean I don't host a DayZ-Server so I won't expect any packets coming into port 2304 or whatever it is :SWell it happened on every server we tried yesterday - but we tried to login into servers with less then 4 people in it so I'll try with more crowded servers to validate that theory :) I'll post back as soon as I find out new hints. Thanks for the quick answer so far, but I really have to reconsider my way of introductions, it seems that mentioning your girlfriend is not quite taken with benevolence in the internetz ^^ It will be my "brother" the next time :) Edited October 27, 2012 by XxAnimusxX
VidKo 53 Posted October 28, 2012 If you enjoy the same hobbies, I would say it's even better playing games together than like hang out in bars...
xxanimusxx 0 Posted October 28, 2012 Okay I tried some things and here are the results:- I joined the Server [ "DE 3296"* ] with more than 8 players in and my gf could also connect with me. We played an hour or so and disconnected due to the lags occuring more often in the server.- Now I searched for another server and now the problem stroke back: Whenever one of us is loggin in and sees the lobby, the other can't join. We tried out a variety of servers but it occured on every damn server, especially the one hosted by PG-Server.de, t-f-g.net and gamed!de.- Trying to get in US or other servers also didn't work. And the best thing is:After all the failures we tried to login into DE 3296 in order to continue playing - but the same problem occured here as well... wtf?!It's like the servers want to limit my daily time playing the game or something... xDI assumed that DE 3296 is working because it seems to be an official server and not a private hive but the statement above disproves that.---------------------------------------------* DE 3296 (v1.7.2.6/build 98220) [3P:ON CH:ON][GMT+1] dayzmod.net - DayZ Server Hosting - 49 Cent / Slot by ZAP-Hosting
VidKo 53 Posted October 28, 2012 What router do you have and what are your settings? Do you have uPnP enabled?
xxanimusxx 0 Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) I own a "Speedport 921v" and yeah, uPnP is enabled. Furthermore the ports 2302-2305 (UDP) are forwarded to my Computer. But once more: Does the port forwarding rules affect something when I'm the client? I mean as long as I am the one sending the requests to connect to any server there shouldn't be any problems considering NAT and Firewall settings, should it?Well I don't know the exact network routine of DayZ/Arma so I can't tell for sure, but I thought forwarding is only necessary in case that I want to host a DayZ-Server (what I am doing from time to time...).I could try to remove the forwarding and try it with her another time, don't know if it helps but its worth a shot.(PS: do you need any specific settings for my router? I'd gladly compile the informations if you tell me what's important to look at) Edited October 29, 2012 by XxAnimusxX
xxanimusxx 0 Posted November 4, 2012 Okay after some time I tried to delete the port forwarding to 2302 and for some reason I could connect to the same server as my gf did! I don't know why it worked but it worked - for that day that is.We now have the same problem - we can't join the same server with the "ghosting" thing going on every time.I'm at my wits' end and don't know what to do, I didn't buy the game to play alone in the first place, I'm really frustrated over this...
