How to create custom maps for servers?

Recommended Posts

Now, I don't want to try, as I assume it will take weeks if not months of constant work to complete, but how do people create custom DayZ maps like Lingor?

I'd appreciate a link, or a short explanation on how this is possible :)

The majority (if not all) of these maps are imported from Arma II, not too sure on how one would go about creating one from scratch though..

I understand that some maps like Takistan are already in Arma II, but Panthera isn't in Arma II is it? If it isn't then is it just based from another map with added structure and fleshed out with pretty forests and hills? I see how it would take a long time to create one from scratch, but even editing the current maps is enough for me to see if I can give it a shot. I basically want to find out how, to pass the information onto my friend, who can edit the map, then pass it on to another friend who can host it.

If anyone knows how to add buildings, or loot spawns, to any maps it will be enough for us!

I wish I knew! I believe panthera was an Arma II community made map (by this guy maybe?), the same might go for Lingor.. not too sure!

Good luck on your adventure mate, hope you can get it started, I have utmost respect for people who create map for games as I know first hand it can take a while!

Thanks, but I doubt I'll manage to create a map anyway, I was just really curious as to how they're made :3

That looks extremley confusing... I'll leave it for tomorrow afternoon, once Jet-Lag has gone.

I'm sure it'll get easier as I go through the steps, but I'll most likely get stuck on the scripting side of things.
