Some tips/tactics one might suggest for a 2 man squad?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to get tips/advice from the vets of this game regarding maximizing the potential of a 2 man squad. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you

Team up with a 3rd person?

But yeah seriously get on your own comms, with speech-activation, decent mics and train working together so you can share info efficiently. To give you two bad examples:

- "Heard shots from there" - "Where?" - "There!"

- After loosing each other: "I see a guy." - "Where?" - "In front of me. I'm gonna shoot him."

If you want to sneak into a supermarket specify which door you are going in. Main entrance, the middle back entrance, etc.

Oh, and use different ammo types.

Take it slow. If you take the time to wait and scout an area, chances are you are going to see the hostiles move. Seeing them first is a huge advantage.

Althought dont crawl or slow walk out in the open. zombies are not as hard to deal with as players. So move from cover to cover quick, then watch and wait, deal with any zombie aggro, watch and wait some more.

Avoid doing the exact same thing as your partner at any given time.

When moving, have one person stay crouched and covering while the other person goes to the agreed upon spot. Once there, the second person crouches and covers the first who moves past to the next spot.

Keep leapfrogging.

Call your targets too, don't both shoot the same target as its a waste of ammo.

two man teams work best when you can move light and fast. If you don't have eyes in the sky or a shadow/scout tailing you to tell you whats coming at you, you will have to be able to move in and out of areas with precision. For this kind of group i generally leave my heavy weapons behind at base camp (which you will have too eventually, if you keep playing) and take light weapons like a pistol and a winchester/einfield to scout out high availability areas. These weapons can still hold up in pvp and allow you the ability to move freely and relatively stress free cause you don't risk losing your big boys like your m107 or thermals/nvgs.

Tactically it should be very obvious.. both players should NEVER be looking at loot.. one player should always be designated as lookout when looting an area, and a player should always be watching your 6 while you're moving. Typically you should try to stay around 50-100 meters spread out when moving through wooded areas to avoid ambush, and to increase your chances of killing your friends attacker if you manage to survive an ambush.

Use your map, find the highest elevation in a town before entering it and scout the town thoroughly.. there are some indicators you can pick up on right away that will alert you as to wether someone has been through (are there already zombies walking through town? they spawn on players so they may still be nearby... are there dead zombies around?)

Mostly take every negative thing that happens as an opportunity to learn and not make the same mistake. I had an encounter when I first started where a friend of mine was running around in a field shooting zombies.. I was nervously watching from the tree-line when I saw that he had attracted attention.. instead of moving deeper into the treeline to flank the potential bandit i froze and sat still.. he flanked me and shot me in the back.. i learned not to sit still and risk potential flanking when you know someone has learned your position.

Every death is a chance to survive longer the next time. :P

one of the absolute best thing about a 2 man squad is when your dying there with the funky green hour glass and broken bones and thinking that's it I lost my skin, my gun, my goggles and then suddenly your boy revives you. Keep stocked up on medical supplies because its not something you truly appreciate when you're alone. Resist the urge to split up and cover ground faster, its a false economy. Designate one guy to keep checking the map and keep track of where you are. Its bullshit when you both go to check the map and get caught off guard. As some one else said, use different guns with different ammo. Plan your exit strategy and vocalize it. Have a rally point, there's only two of you, getting split up can be costly.

have fun.
