vladdie 0 Posted June 15, 2012 I heard that the nights are darker with the OA Beta patch? Is this the case and how have BI managed to stop the gamma/hdr trick from working? Is it listed in the OA beta patch notes?I went on a server a few nights ago (with the OA beta) and I literally couldn't see anything even with gamma/hdr up. If what I heard is true then this is great news! The most fun I had at nights was when I didn't know about the gamma/hdr trick and had to use flares/glow sticks to navigate in towns at night, so atmospheric as well as worrying about other players seeing my flares. Alexey Zemanov 6 Posted June 15, 2012 I went on a server a few nights ago (with the OA beta) and I literally couldn't see anything even with gamma/hdr up.AFAIK it's a server thing. I don't have beta and on some servers it seems to never become really dark. But that's just IMHO.

The unfortunate thing is, you are at a very big disadvantage playing nights against players who dont have the patch, until it'll be made mandatory. But it does make flares/glowsticks relevant again, which is awesome
.:14A41:.Pvt.p4lztZ 3 Posted June 15, 2012 Check out this thread over on the BIS forums:http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?135667-Improved-tone-mapping-for-1-61-proposal/page2The most recent beta patch though reads:[93812] Fixed: Restrict gamma value set by profile [93809] Fixed: Restrict brightness value set by profile Take from that what you can. :P

vladdie 0 Posted June 15, 2012 Just don't play nights' date=' problem solved[/quote']Why? Night times are fun and super intense :) Even more so hopefully now if everyone is in the same visual conditions.
VFR 41 Posted June 15, 2012 Playing in the dark is awesome. It's a whloe new experience. If you want to ensure that everybody is on teh same level of vision, just join servers which have applied patch 701, so everybody else is forced to have the same patch level. I have, and it caps the gamma and brightness.Make sure you have chemsticks at hand, otherwise you will see shit, it is really dark. :DBe aware that you are visible for about 50 meters while using them, it makes you really feel vulnerable. It's intense, and I like it. Looting a supermarket in bright daylight loses soem attraction over time, if you are doing it for the 50th time. Try doing it at night, if you are getting bored. ;)
Never 237 Posted June 15, 2012 Gamma/Brightness changing got hardfixed server side to stop people cheating.Moonlight ingame is locked to real lunar cycles, so if its darker it may be because the cycles moving from Full to New Moon?
worst2first 71 Posted June 15, 2012 Humans are biologically unprepared to be active at night (thanks God and / or evolution). I do what any survivor would do - find the safest place you can and sleep until dawn.
