echo38 4 Posted October 24, 2012 I am looking for a private hive server to play regularly on, but I have some fairly specific requirements which eliminate most of the servers. They are as follows:* Expert difficulty.* No hackers, script kiddies, or other cheaters. I understand that it's impossible to keep 100% of them out, but if it happens once a week, that's too many.* Unmodified "Day Z" mission--the only difference between this server and an official hive server must be that it is a private hive.* Side chat off.* U.S.A. server location.* Server must not suffer from frequent resets which "eat" vehicles and tents. Once in a while is one thing, but if it happens every week, that's a deal-breaker.* Server must not be operated & dominated by a clan.* Server administrators must not abuse administrative abilities to gain an advantage in gameplay. Can anyone think of any servers which meet all of those requirements? I realize that this may be difficult, but perhaps there is at least one out there.

Kerbo 198 Posted October 24, 2012 You're welcome to try my tiny server if you're looking to just kill some zombies. There usually isn't anyone on unless my friend and I are playing. It's currently set to veteran (crosshairs on because the heli door guns don't always let you use the sights and map markers because I like that feature) but meets your other requirements I think. Happy hunting.
echo38 4 Posted October 24, 2012 Thanks, but there's a reason I put the Expert part first. ; )
mibz0r 141 Posted October 24, 2012 Looks like the OP will not be playing much DayZ with these requirements, for a start Arma II is not meant to be run for so long so restarts must be reasonably frequent and hackers happen when they happen. My Advice: Go play another game. Kerbo 198 Posted October 24, 2012 Thanks, but there's a reason I put the Expert part first. ; )It looks like Expert is now called Mercenary. TheGeeks Chernarus has been changed from Veteran to Mercenary for your Zombie killing pleasure.
echo38 4 Posted October 24, 2012 (edited) Arma II is not meant to be run for so long so restarts must be reasonably frequentThis much I know from my thousands of hours in Arma 2, but I also know that server restarts aren't supposed to permanently destroy tents & vehicles, even in the present Alpha version of Day Z. Some of the servers I've frequented eat vehicles more than others.TheGeeks Chernarus has been changed from Veteran to Mercenary for your Zombie killing pleasure.Capital! I'll join as soon as I figure out how to get Day Z to work with the beta version. (Bloody Steam ...) Edited October 24, 2012 by A. Darkthorn

echo38 4 Posted October 24, 2012 (edited) You want too much... too much, too much...I simply want to play Expert difficulty Day Z without any cheating, without additional modification, without the server eating my stuff every other day. I really don't think that's too much to ask, and if I were able to host, I'd already have my own server which offered this. Edited October 24, 2012 by A. Michno 33 Posted October 24, 2012 I agree on most parts BUT! seriusly why would you seek out a server with week restarts it would lagg like hell the server i'm playing on has restarts every day at night time and i havent gotten a single vehicel eaten xD or tent
echo38 4 Posted October 24, 2012 (edited) why would you seek out a server with week restarts it would lagg like hellThat wasn't what I wrote. I don't object to a server restarting every day or two, but I do object to a server restarting in a manner that loses vehicles every day or two. A daily restart is fine, but if every third restart loses all my stuff, then that's a no-go.Basically, I'm looking for the same thing that most legitimate Day Z players are looking for, only I have the added requirement of Expert (a.k.a. Mercenary) difficulty. Happily, it looks like Kerbouchard's server fits my bill, but it uses the beta version of A2:CO. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the the Steam version of the A2:CO beta to recognize Day Z. As soon as I get it sorted out, I'll check out his server. : ) Edited October 24, 2012 by A. He wants a server that doesn't have a restart (among many regular restarts) every week that eats his tent and/or gear.EDIT: Forum lag, didn't see OP reply. echo38 4 Posted October 24, 2012 I'm afraid I can't get Day Z working with the A2:CO beta patch, Kerbouchard. I've wasted hours trying over the last two days; I've done nothing for the last two hours but work on it, and I read all the forum threads and wiki. It doesn't matter which instructions I follow, or what I try; I simply can't get it to work. I think I'm going to have to give up and stay at the stable version of A2:CO. Kerbo 198 Posted October 26, 2012 I was able to walk Darkthorn through getting the beta installed and working with DayZ. Now in 6h 40m of gameplay on his latest character he has 369 zombie kills with a 93% headshot rate. Outstanding!
echo38 4 Posted October 26, 2012 How the heck did you see my headshot rate? o O

echo38 4 Posted October 29, 2012 I'm pleased to announce that, after a few days of playing here, I've concluded that TheGeeks Chernarus is very much good enough for me. It almost exactly matches my specifications (the only exception being the vehicle count, and, hey, one can't have everything, right?), and I'm quite happy to be here.
