Guns and Mags

Recommended Posts

First off add more of all guns.

more pistols, more snipers, more shotguns, more everything except maybe only a few more ar's.

change up shotguns so they are all more different.

add attachments for guns. there should be no preset guns with scopes except snipers and even snipers you should be able to change the scope. this includes no revington w/ flashlight. you can find attachable flashlights and scops and barrels and bipods etc. you should be able to find guns with attachments on them, but at random and you need to be able to change them up. maybe have so antique guns added such as ww2 guns and some ww2 memrabilia. CHANGE ALL MAGS. there shouldn't be a macrov mag. there should be 9mm mags with x # of bullets. you can still decide that a macrov can only use 9mm mags with 9, 12 and 15 bullets for say but for many guns you should be able to use the same mag. the only difference in sound should be the bullet claber. a gun shouldn't be louder for shitz and giggle. there should be reason. with this said scilencers should also be attatchments and not build on to the gun. maybe you can have multiple types of scilencers for not all would fit on a gun. lastly there should be many clothing options. clothing is and easy easter egg that doesn't create unbalanced gameplay. you can have fixed clothing you get from different areas. clothing can save to a character so if you find it once you always have it. also clothing can be givven for achivements. you should also have spraypaint that can give guns camo and lots of otheres. for instance if you introduce moltove cocktales then the lighter found with it can be different each time or it can also be unlocked with achivements and tasks. if you feel like it you can also add missions or tasks for these such as kill a fixed amount of zombies or people. maybe even have isolated dungeon like areas with npc humans that can provide equiptment both for newly spawned players who dont want to scavange for a gun and for players who have invested a lot of time and want the best guns and a challange. finaly (for real this time) you can have items that spawn in fixed locations or spots such as for WW2 guns they can be found only in museams and maybe a pre modded db shotgun with a scope on it can be found only under the bed in a unique cabin thats hard to enter and is gaurded by lots of zombies. the list goes on but this will be my input for now. i belive i have one othere post that also has many ideas. idk if i repeated any. if so sorry.

Fairly certain the way ammo is handled will be completely redone for standalone.

Rocket knows that to change a Military simulator into a Survival simulator, first thing you need to include is the need to scrimp and save bullets, there are no quartermasters in the apocalypse.

Makarov 9x18 rounds are not the same as 9x19 Luger rounds

Not to go all writing teacher on you, but you should try paragraphing more. Broken up paragraphs are easier and much more enjoyable to read than a wall of text.

That being said, you had some good ideas in here.

I like your ideas, particularly about static unique gun spawns. Would be nice to see ammo clips being able to be combined with others to save inv. space, like combing a clip of 5 and a clip of 2 to make one clip of 7 etc.

So, a few things there, young devil:

As far as the weapons go, eh, I guess you could add a couple of different weapon models. There really isn't any need to, but you could.

The World War 2 era weapons idea should not be added. I'm sorry. Realize what time frame this game takes place in. It takes place in a modern day world of a POST SOVIET COUNTRY. You know what was the symbol of the Soviet era? The Kalashnikova or AK-47. the PPSh and Mosin Nagant are really not sen that much. There's a lot of them out there, yes, but they're collector items. Not many people take them out to shoot. Well, maybe the newer replicas they do, but not the legit ones. Also, the Lee Enfield was the standard issued rifle of the British and Common wealth forces from about 1890's to about... 1960's (someone fact check me on that.) Why the hell it's in a Soviet country is beyond me. And, of course, you would never find a American Thompson or M1 Garand laying around here. Hell, not many weapons use stripper clips anymore like the M1.

However, becuase this is a post Soviet era world and the AK-47 is still wildly used in this part of the world, I suggest more AK varieties. Shit, it's one of the cheapest, widest distributed weapon in the world. Shouldn't be that hard.

Attachments. No, this isn't Call of Duty. I can see where you're going with what you are saying, but I really don't like the idea of throwing a 12x scope on an A4 and suppressing me with 5.56 from across Cherno. That's a sure way to make people start punching their screens out of frustration. But, I will agree with adding a Surefire (flashlight) onto weapons, IF THEY HAVE A RAIL SYSTEM ON THE WEAPON. Meaning, Weapon's like the M16A4 (and only the M16A4) and the M Carbines. AK varieties don't have side rail systems. At least, not the ones in the game. Not saying those don't exist in Real life, which they do. So, unless the developers decided to add a rail system to the AK weapon models, I say no attachments for AKs.

Shotguns are fine in my opinion. I mean, most of them suck ass, but if you know how to use them, they're awesome.

Uhm... Snipers. They're also fine. Don't fuck with those.

The Machine Guns. I really appreciate how the developers of both ArmA and DayZ kept the realism of the M249 in the way of using it as a belt feed or a magazine feed weapon. Granted, in real life, using a mag will surely jam the weapon. Happens all the time. It's just ool that they allowed that little feature in the game. The M240B is probably my most favorite weapon in real Life. So no complaints here. Just that it's heavy as shit. And as for that... Other weapon... Whatever the fuck that thing is. It's basically the 240, just with a scope and some paint.

Now, you said something about the ammunition and I believe someone has already mentioned this, but you can't use Makarov mags with M9. M9 Beretta is 9×19mm Parabellum while the Makarov is the 9x18 mm Makarov. Can't do that. Just like how you can't shoot 7.62 out of a 5.56 and vice versa.

BUT, what I do suggest is, I notice that players carry around a lot of have used mags of ammunition sometimes. Example: the player is using a 5.56 caliber weapon, lets say an M4A1 and they shoot off a few rounds out of one and drops the mag done to.. 25 rounds left. They Reload, smack in a fresh 30 round mag. Suddenly they go full retard and pop off 25 rounds out of that one mag, leaving only 5 rounds left. Now, here's my point. Why the hell can't I combined the remaining rounds with what I have left into one mag? I'm sure any smart person in real life would do this. I don't want to carry around an extra mag of barely any rounds. It's just a way to free up space.

That's about it I think. Also, as a side note: in real life, you would never load a 5.56 mag up with thirty rounds, just 28. If you put a full 30, it weakens the spring and it doesn't properly feed into the weapon. But, it it just a video game, so it doesn't matter B) Just a zombie survival tip for the future.

for starters I only heard about this earlier today and havent even finished downloading ARMA2... I have only watched a few youtube vids and think i have come up with a relevant and possibly workable idea.

quoted both of these because the idea I have is affected by both comments...

how about an option of loose rounds... bear with me.. i'll get there :P

individual magazines for weapons is reasonable as the magazine housing on, 9mm pistol A is different to that of 9mm pistol B... both take 9mm rounds but differently shaped magazines.

if you had an option of empty magazines being a carryable item and loose rounds (say 50 take up one inventory slot, depending on colibre)... then in a means similar to setting up a tent you can spend an amount of time putting said loose rounds into or out of magazines.

what you may end up with in this situation is a backpack with empty magazines and loose rounds and when you get to a (reasonably) safe location you spend a bit of time consolidating your rounds into fewer, more full, magazines. also gives an option of having boxed ammunition as a lootable item and even the possibility of speedloaders (to reduce the amount of time to load a magazine)

like I said, I havent played the game yet and unsure as to how relevant this may be.

looking forwarde to playing though.

not bad ideas.

with the mags, i know that they arn't the same, but im sure you can bend a mag into shape, maybe its not recomended but in the account of a zombie appocalypse im sure its possible. this could be implimented into a crafting system that i also have a post on.
