Hi, i registered recently but going thru this forum since few months. So about the thread-

It would be awesome in my opinion to add something like stealth kills, for example- you have an hunting knife in your hand, and managed to make your way on the back of a sniper, with him even not noticing, when you scroll on him option appears

"Slit throat using knife" which has 50%(or sumthin like that) chances of success. Of course that doesnt end here, you aswell can add "Break neck" function with lesser chance of success. What you guys thinking about it?

Door sounds, for opening closing, it would really help and lets be honest, there is no fokin way to open rusted door which are 2mx2m without any sound..

Ah, just remembered something.. There was gazilion discussions about making zombies more hard, maybe give them the perk which every zombie always have- which means.... Destroying brain, only bullet through it is lethal for them.

Taken that into cosideration, but also this is not some random shooter- Even in actual apocalypse, wouldnt you try to take someone out without using your ammunition which is really rare to find?

Knifing someone in DayZ... Now that's pawnage!

What I want is simply more melee weapons, and also that you can switch to it as a tertiary. The hassle you have to go trough to get out that hatchet is... unbelievable. IRL i would just holster my side arm or sling my main weapon over my shoulder, and then just merrily chop away.

I think that quite simply, whilst stealth kills are fun in some games, stylistically it isn't really fitting with DayZ,

Yeah, but still... At the moment there are four ways to kill someone silently- axe, crowbar, m9sd, mp5sd (with firearms not that much stealthy anyway..) So it would be quite nice to see some other ways to kill silently.

I can't recall if the dev team has already commented on stealth kills.

The standlone will feature alot of new melee weapons and they'll probably come new animations. You're already able to carry/drag wounded players, maybe some weapon animations, you could attach yourself to another player, if you're able to sneak up on him and then make some kind of combied stealth kill animation.

Stylistically, stealth kills should fit snugly into this genre. Like a glove! How else are you supposed to kill your stupid mate when there are hundres of zeds rought outside the porch? Blunt weapon, suffocation, piano wire, knife - doesn't matter. It gets the job done when you need to stay quiet and discreet.

cool, but right now if you manage to move silently you can make a lot of stealth kills, maybe the rest of the town can hear you easy, but the guy dies for sure. :-)

Why 50% chance of success by just stabbing a guy?? you don't have to cut his throath, you can just start stabbing him repeteadly in the back and he will die

Do stabbing the way BF3 does it, but improved since it too buggy in BF

I do like the idea, and it can fit with my scripted animations thread...If you sneak up on someone with a knife, the option of a stealth kill should be available, followed by the animation

As for stealth kill animation ala BF3:

On the other hand, a way to grab someone and holding them would be nice but only if they can actually fight that and will be able to get themselves free somehow. If anyone ever played Metal Gear Solid 4, that be some nice moves, that could not only be used to kill someone but also rob someone. One person sneaks up on the target, grabs him and a second pserson could then search the targets pockets.

You could divide the actions, have "grab" come up first, then "kill" or "let go"...this will help with robberies, or even that cool tense conversation with the victim you see in movies before they team up.

Whoever says stealth kills is not fitting for dayz... Well, I just think you're 100% wrong. In a nice way to put it.

I should be able to come up behind a zombie and stab it in the back of the head as I move quietly through town. It should be fairly challenging as it is now... But anyone in the right mind would do this. I would silently take down zombies before entering a spot...

Why not give the players the tools to stealth kill zombies with their axe, knife, or crowbar in style? A very grief animation could be done with some nice gore effect following.

This should also be done to players who are not watching their back. Same goes for holding them up and robbing.

If you allow a player to get behind you that closely, you deserve it.

Besides, how annoying is it to be looting a tent with your rifle out in stary, and then having to run away like a dumb ass because you can't take down the zombie without shooting it?

Next point is that you dont need to neccesary kill someone, but instead of that you can knock him out, as faint system is already in game.

What about "CHOP HIS MOTHERFUCKING HEAD OFF WITH A HATCHET" which has a 100% better chance to actually work in a real life situation than a goddamn butter knife. This is not assassin's creed.
