Is the entrenching legit?

I found an entrenching tool a while back, and I'm not sure if it's legit or not. Is it?

Yup, it's legit.

They are legit, you need it to use with sandbags in order to form fortifications. Its pretty rare to find one of those though.

No...sandbags may be placed on their own in DayZ without having an entrenching tool in your inventory but yes, the tool is legit. Furthermore, 5 or so of them spawn in the military truck as an FYI

It is legit, and after playing for months I had only ever found one. Died before I could put it to use. :(

So what's the point of the entrenching tool then? I guess it was to be used with sandbags but due to a bug it's completely useless?

I've seen a couple, took one to complete my toolbelt. Never seen any sandbags though.
