Put up my first tent yesterday!

And the sense of achievement was overwhelming. I almost shed a tear of happiness. A couple of nights before, my friend had put up his first tent and a few hours later he had a second tent. They were breeding! :o But he managed to pack it up accidentally, and lost his gun in the process. So I was extra careful and spent a good half an hour assessing the exact spot I was going to place my tent. I'm convinced they duplicate if placed in a less than perfect spot.

So, yesterday, I finally decided the perfect spot and I put up my tent. And what do you know, no duplicating.*smug*

Naturally, I visited my tent throughout the day, making sure it was happy and safe, bringing it litte tidbits to show my affection: a can of beans, a clip from my M9, a spare waterbottle, and so on.

I just popped in to the server where Tenty lives, you know, to say goodnight - not to give it a kissy and a hug or anything - and there it was, still safe and sound after 24 hours....but entirely empty. :(

Ah well, tomorrow's another day! *shakes fists at the skies* And I WILL fill it again, I will refill Tenty! (For those of you who had an education before the 1990s, yes that was my Scarlet O'Hara rip off scene)

PS, if anyone says "it's only gear, you can't keep it...." I will hunt you down and rip off your kneecaps! *Tries to look menacing but fails* :huh:

Grats on the tent! I recently just started setting up a camp. Have two tents with plenty of gear within about a 50m radius of each other... also I planted bear traps near them in several spots ;) . They'll find morphine in the tents, but just the thought of it makes me laugh... oooo TENT!!!... *walk walk walk SNAP*

I stopped using tents after setting up a few camps. And finding it detracts from my enjoyment o the game. (they eat gear, and breed gear) i like finding stuff, o yes i do.. and when i know where the stuff is without me needing to look, it detracts from my joy. :(

but ive found spamming the save tent function, increases the chances o them saving correctly. Also, beware... tents can bite! Ive had them trap me, i somehow managed to set them on top o myself! Its happened a lot.. and it can kill you! And break your bones... they are temperamental lil beasties for sure :o

Oh Sula Sula Sula.... My heart pains for this.

If you accidentally overload a tent and place one too many items "Over the Quota" OR you accidentally pack a tent with gear in it, scan around the tent (sometimes quite widely) and you WILL find the "missing" gear. nothing disappears, it just throws it on the ground nearby.

One tent I overloaded threw the stuff 20 feet behind the tree that the tent was hidden in, but it was all there.

It also will not usually spread the items around, but in a pile, so it's easier to find a bunch of items than say, one m1911 magazine.

And congrats on joining the ranks of the paranoid hoarders. :D

P.S. don't take a freakout if it disappears one day - usually a server reset or two later, it will be back. happens all the time on certain servers.

Maybe I should just sit next to my tent forever, just to make sure it's safe. :huh:

External, that's what I assumed happened. It's a very quiet server. I'm afraid I suspect the admin even before hackers - who'd want my beans and a few clips? I think it's more a malicious prank than a need for beans. <_<

mm, are you running the 1.whatever.2.6 version? because 2.5 was a pain for vehicles and tents. then if you save it correctly and put out/in something weekly, she should survive fine and i don't know how she could be gone away. i'm sorry for your loss! there isn't anything better than running naked from the north to the nwa, greedy light in your eyes, be ready to run a lot of kms more than normal..

That's why I think it was either the admin of the server or a hacker. I was saving it a lot! And it was there last night but now is gone. Not many play on the server and it's now become a particular clan's. So maybe they didn't like me using it.

While I get the chance I want to say thanks to the admin of a different server - UK69. A couple of nights ago he and another guy welcomed my friend and I to their server, and then offered us a lift in their heli and took us up to Stary. And the stuff I found on THAT server is still there because they were nice guys who don't take your stuff. :thumbsup: Actually, if there's anyone from that server reading this - I'd like to know if they have a payment system for small donations towards running costs. I appreciate a safe environment to play in and it's a good UK server.
