Decent Private Hive Server Supplier?

Recommended Posts

Is there any recommendations on Server suppliers?

I have been with Survival Servers for coming on 3 weeks and I have now grown really tired of their shitty service.

I like the tools they have.

The map tool to view vehicle locations.

MYPHP to edit the database.

TC Admin to start and restart the server and apply updates.

DAYZ tools to change the timezone and add more vehicles to the server and do general server tiding up

Is there any other supplier who supplies the same sort of tools?

If so I would be very tempted to change supplier.

Thanks.

Is there any decent guides on how to make your own server?

What do I need to be able to make my own?

But I think this would prob be too much work, so I don't mind paying to have one just wish I could find a provider who provides a decent service.

Bliss Private Hive above, is the only one i have tried so far + wouldnt look back...

Tiny bit of work intially to setup, but v.nice

There are others in stickied threads @

If u are only interested in a single server, go managed if u like. Vilayer got the biggest public private hive atm.

But i believe there are some other managed servers that also run dayz anti-hax (1 thing vilayer is missing atm), worth looking at.

If u are anyway inclined to mess with code < i.e random number of crash sites & different types >

or want more features <database backups>

or more than 1 server.

Want a server running smoothly that doesnt need as many restarts when it gets busy

Your best bet is to go look @ at some vps / dedicated server setups.

Take the time to learn how to make a server yourself and purchase a dedi or VPS. I have a VPS from NFO and run 3 servers on it with no issues.

+1. It's a lot better and if you get tired of dayz you can always run another game on it.

Whats wrong with our service? We offer some of the most advanced features, including rMod, Database access, DayZTools(a program we coded using php) allowing for customizable vehicle settings and all sorts of other fun things. Map tools with in game vehicles and players. 5 different playable maps and competitive pricing. As far as I know, we are the only major provider using the most up to date Bliss private hive v3.6 with BEC and Anti-Hax enabled, which has the fewest bugs and comes out with database updates almost weekly. We might of had 1 issue with the 3.5 release, but we are rock solid now and 3.6 has fixed any ongoing issues. We are continuing to release some of the most innovative features and are always taking suggestions from our customers on ways that we can improve. I have provided a list below of what we are currently working on.

Please send me a PM or reply here if there is anything we can do to give you a hand.

- rMod server settings / rMod spawn vehicles (Run Task, daily task) - 90% done, ETA 2-3 days

- Vehicle spawns based on server settings (requires an update for the new v3.6) - 30% done, ETA 1-2 days

- WhitelisterPro server-side implementation (requires finishing some code) - 40% done, ETA 1-2 days

- BEC / DayZAntiHax update - 0% done, ETA 1 week

- Arma2 beta patch update - 0% done, ETA 2-3 days

- DayZTools database backup, migration, restoration tool - 25% done, ETA 1 week

Well I have been with you guys for 3 weeks in that time I have experienced 1 week of down time, an average wait of 36 hours for tickets to be uncorrectly answered.

Not to mention the Gateway 502 error, you might have loads of flashy tools but none of them hardly ever work as you also get a Gateway error.

Features don't mean anything if the core service and support are bad. Service is fine when/if it works, the support is terribly slow and unhelpful.

Exactly they claim they have loads of decent new features, but they never work.

Survival Servers I would avoid like the plague.

They have a week to fix all the problems otherwise I will be leaving them, as two good weeks in 4 is really poor.

The main reason for Survival Servers recent problems was due to the release of rMod and @Bliss v3.6.

The 502 errors only effect you if you are constantly changing the database (and is due to them not using the security holed Apache. Again, pressing refresh once to reload the page correctly is not a huge issue.

Yeah, I've been frustrated with the slow response to tickets but in the end all problems are resolved and they have no problem crediting you for any downtime.

But yeah, to each their own, for $35 p/m I haven't found any service as good for the same price.

Cheers.

I just got a server with Dayz.St and for $30 you can't get a better server. Anything you can't do yourself with the database and custom CP just email the support and they will hook it up.

502 errors will be completely gone this week, we are transferring to a newer, better web server!

.

Incorrect statement there Bub.

I was getting 502 errors without touching the database. Hell, I just got it trying to log into my account to check on an open ticket, that has nothing to do with database changes.

Refreshing the page once? Really? That works for you? You're one lucky SOB. I've had times where I had to refresh 10-12 times at least.

SS says they are fixing it this week. I hope they do, I know I'm as fed up with it as everyone else.

It's not just about the 502, it's also about response times, I still don't find 24 hours acceptable, they do, so since we'll never agree on that, I'll move on when my paid up month is over.

Example:

I opened a ticket Sunday afternoon

Sunday, October 21st, 2012 (12:04)

When did I get a response?

Monday, October 22nd, 2012 (22:11)

And then it was to tell me "This should be fixed with our 3.7 release tonight or tomorrow!"

At least it was communication, I hope it's accurate, but in the meantime I have people running into randomly spawning solid objects and crashing vehicles. I don't think this particular issue is SS's fault, I just would have appreciated a response a hell of a lot sooner.

My problem has never been with the offerings, it's the delivery of them, and the response times. I can put up with less 'stuff' if I get better communications.

. I've spent the last 15 years working and running helpdesk and desktop support teams... I know just how far good, frequent, speedy communication will get you, even when the news is not always good, it only gets worse if you have to wait extended periods of time for the bad news.

Maybe SS needs a support manager - doing nothing but fielding and prioritizing tickets...

I never mentioned that the 502 was due to the database, I mentioned database as I can see no other reason why you'd need to be accessing SS pages other than to reset the server, change the database or restart. I find once the server is running there is no need to be accessing these pages over and over. I only access the pages to update mods/patches. All I was stating was that the 502 errors were due to using ngnix instead of apache.

They're upgrading to @Bliss 3.7 tonight or tomorrow? Excellent, love a host that provides fast access to latest updates.

I quoted what you said... and what I was referring to, check the quote... you said it only happens if you are constantly changing the database. That's pretty cut and dried.

I was accessing the SS pages to put in a ticket because my server was hosed up, and accessing it to check on said ticket. Nothing to do with the database

Your correction on the other hand is right.. it's just not what you said the first time.

And the bit about 3.7 was said yesterday, so theoretically it should be done by now since last night and today are in the past... it is now 'night time'... but since last I checked 3.7 wasn't released yet, I think it's an empty gesture.

And I was wrong. 3.7 is available, and SS has it showing for installation.
