Mod Release Date

When did DayZ Mod actually get released the first time around? March 2012? And how long was it until rocket had helpers with the mod? June? Not talking Bohemia help or Standalone here.

It went Alpha on April 13th I believe. They already had 213 users at the time from pre-alpha, by April 16th there were over 2000 and 5 weeks later had cracked 100k. I imagine there were already people helping Rocket out before Alpha though.

I'd say so too. Days is after all a collage of other mods. I'd have hoped he'd have contacted those people about using parts of their code.

AFAIK Rocket hasn't used anybody else's code. He may have seen an idea in another mod but he then wrote the code himself to make it for DayZ. Not just copy patsa.

i.e. all the code is rockets own work.

Hes used whole parts of other mods, its not a bad thing, a lot of modders do it. Pretty sure hes stated on here before that be borrowed the inventory system etc. But thats the nature of modding, if someones happy for you to use part of their code, and it works, seems pointless to make it again you know? You seem to have read my comment as if i was suggesting he stole code, No, hes used code.

I believe the Zed AI and the loot spawn system was his, but they need a rebuild by standalone. If they aren't massively redesigned its going to be a poor game. The biggest shame about all the hacker drama is it seems the devs are forgetting that they are some flawed keystones in DayZ.
