So, what's changed?

Could someone write up a quick compilation of all the major/interesting changes that have happened since may?

It seems to have evolved quite a bit, and i want to check it out to see whats up.

Errr, no. Maybe you should take a trip around the forum's, catch up a bit on some devs posts and so on...

Better still, boot it up and have a go. Just do yourself a favour and find a good server first.

Vehicles, saving - yes no?

Zombies in buildings fixed, - yes no?

Widespread deathmatch rectified, - yes no?

Tents?

Weapon nerfs?

Vehicle spawn rate increased?

Constantly respawning zombies, status? (i.e. Is there any point in clearing out towns).

The last changelog doesn't cover a timespan of 5 months...

So last time I played DayZ was probably 2-3 months ago (Don't quote me on that).

I'm just curious what, has and hasn't been patched/fixed/updated.

1) The hacking (read: Scripting) was out of control, pretty much every server had someone hacking and you just couldn't play. I know that they can't really fix the hacking, I'm just curious if it's sort of died down? Is there any servers that are known not to tolerate hacking etc etc?

2) Ammo/item duping. My buddy told me that they took out the magazine glitch. Can you still cheat your way around food/water/painkillers/blood bags etc etc?

3) Any other notable changes in the last couple months? I remember reading something about dogs somewhere. Never looked into it, was it for the standalone or the mod?

Any help is appreciated, I have tons of beans to spare :lol:

So the 2 new skins instantly replace the one you're currently using?

So no matter what a bandit will have the rag around his head, or is it optional?

Sounds a lot harder to be a hero, but seems more rewarding.

Has the hacking died down yet?

No dogs, and duping is still there. Way too many as50s sitting in tents/vehicles. The Devs are putting their attention to the standalone, as I think they should.

Hacking has died down somewhat, but it's still pretty common. I haven't encountered hackers in weeks. I thought the server I play was pretty hack free, but the other night I happened upon a "parking lot" with a bunch of vehicles and the boat, so scripters are still around. There are more private hives if You want to play it safe from hackers. Avoid Saturday night that seems to be when the script kiddies are most active.

Most people have moved to private hives where a lot of the bugs, duping and cheating have been eliminated and a bunch of new maps/mods are available.

Is there any way to get access to them? Or is it a private server for "friends" ordeal? I have no problem with private servers, as long as the Admins don't abuse anything.

Any recommendations on servers?

Check the private hive forum section, some require you to signup on their website and have your GUID whitelisted.

tents are still essentially flawed eith the save system. the magazine glitch has been conserved on hero skins.

Sounds a lot harder to be a hero, but seems more rewarding.

Oh humanity is back, or maybe you never noticed it left since you were gone!

The rag around his head isn't optional, and you just change skin when your humanity goes below or above the appropriate level.

Lot harder to be a hero, it is, but your humanity doesn't reset when you die so your in luck!

For the loyal DayZ players who would'nt piss on WarZ developers teeth if were on fire, being one such loyal dayZ fan, i was really hoping the dayZ team released a new DayZ patch including dogs into the game the same day the WarZ alpha access began, oh well, was wishfull thinking.

that's just rocket standing up to his principles and not falling to cater his playerbase with unfinished content just to gain a little bit more of popularity

2 months, and 1 broken dog animation.

No updates on Zed AI and much needed new loot system.

To much focus on 'hack-proofing' and not enough noise about content improvements basically.

The content the mod has for something made by one man is awesome.

But it that same content isn't deep enough or even designed well enough for an game.

Lot of potential not being realised in my opinion. But hey thats my opinion.

Where have you been for the last 2 months - have you not heard about the stand alone? Fuck the mod - it was never going to work anyway - SA is where it needs to go (also I don't know if you've been keeping up on the private hives but they're fixing things that aren't being seen on the public hives)

Let me actually be useful:

Vehicles: Still fucked.

Zeds in buildings: they still slow to a walk indoors, so depending on your opinion it might be 'fixed'. Personally i'd say thats broken.

Deathmatch: Still loads of people playing CoDayZ, Lots of OP guns duped/hacked in still. Private hives can have less of it, the Publics still DM.

Tents: More fucked than before.

Weapon Nerfs: Unsure. there was an ARMA patch a while back that changed a few weapons damage tables. Have a look for the patch notes for the last ARMA Beta patch.

Vehicle spawns: On public, nope. private hives, some have a lot more. (also theres a few new maps with other vehicles)

Zed spawns: Still the same spawn system. Yup it still sucks.

I'm talking about the standalone you total chief.

Maybe read the thread not just one post and you'll see the context.

See Matt Lightfoots interview that recently went up. the focus of the devs on standalone is in the wrong place. "We are trying to solve the hacking issues in a panic and have made a dog that doesn't work yet still!" is basically the gist of the whole interview. fuck that get some content and fix the shitty spawn systems!

First off, I don't remember players begging for dogs. Second, there is nothing but unfinished content in this mod. So I have no idea what you are trying to say.
