clintmbaptiste@gmail.com 2 Posted October 16, 2012 Haven't played in a while, was wondering if they changed anything to base fortifications? Is it still the same tents and barb wire crap? Are fortifications used to defend against zombies at all? or do they still walk through walls?Ideally I want to find a house or spot of land, build fortifications and defend myself against zombies and bandits.Bandits server hopping into a camp is still a problem I assume. GhillieTV 5 Posted October 16, 2012 Sandbags block zombies, fairly certain tank traps do also, they only walk through barbed wire. Haven't seen any glitching through walls past sandbags myself but I assume it's possible.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) Play on a private hive to avoid ghosting. With regards to the fortifications, the sandbags and so on were only added to test various mechanics. The plan is to have underground bases eventually. Edited October 16, 2012 by Fraggle
clintmbaptiste@gmail.com 2 Posted October 16, 2012 not walls, mean doors. they used to walk through doors and hit through walls.although there's probably still no point having a fortified base in the woods, its not like zombies are going to roam out there. Depends how its implemented, we'll see. When I image zombie survival I think of a farm house out in the middle of no where, boarding up all the windows and placing traps and fortifications... at night, hide and defend against zombie hordes, at day scavenge for supplies. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) That's why they implemented wire fencing and so on, so that they could monitor player behaviour and also test the impact on performance. Unfortunatly player behaviour involved spamming the map so for now it's been ruled out. Underground bases solves the problem of players ruining the map. Underground bases solves the problem of players ruining the map.It was only a matter of time before such an act occurred. I think some of us foresaw it. When I imagine "human survival in a zombie apocalypse" I think of an urban environment.
