A River - Give Boats a Better Purpose

Recommended Posts

I'm kind of tired having a limitation to boats of only one coast. It's pretty sad. There should be a river (non-drinkable) going up north. it can twist and turn multiple times to get that need of gas concept in play. It'd be pretty sweet having more room to travel with the boat. If you don't want it to go all the way north, just end it at a big lake in the middle of somewhere.

Just food for thought, really.

I like the idea of this. A lot actually. I could imagine walking along the side of the river, hearing a boat approaching, and diving into the brush before it arrives. Also a river would make the map a lot more interesting, since bridges would be required and those could make for some great bottlenecks.

Getting in a boat is like volunteering to be a duck at a shooting range, not good. All boats get blown up for hot marshmallow time, everyone knows that.

In ancient times...ok even in modern times rivers are obstacles to almost everyone, if not nobody would have invented the bridge...actually nobody would jump into a river with a strong current so the boat / raft idea makes sense. Just too bad that the waters in ArmA 2 have no current and are not dangerous. maybe reintroducing having to "drop your equipment in order not to drown" will make players think twice about swimming 1km across the ocean with 50kg of equipment ( yes, that's the weight of a backpack full with ammo and a second primary ) instead of taking a walk 5km around on land.
