    Looking for a new clan...

    Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We're a social gaming community that is dedicated to fair and fun gaming. We have over 200 players in various Fire teams and groups playing Day Z and using our Teamspeak Server to communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. These teams have several bases, vehicles, camps and play across several of our own home servers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to urn up and get involved.     @stonecold350 - 1) The reloads are done at 1am, 8am and 4pm Brisbane time. All of which is explained in the MOTD. 2) Whatever base you raided wasn't ours. There's only two admins and we don't actually have that many vehicles. Those we do have are legit along with our gear. 3) It sounds like you didn't save the vehicles. They are only saved when manually selected from the drop-down. The same goes for tents. 4) If you tried to store them in the Debug area they will be removed periodically from the game. 5) We really don't appreciate being called cheats especially when we provide a server for you to play on for free which we pay for out of our own pockets. Have some respect.
  3. Yeah, I guess you would totally leave vehicles and tents alone when you stumble on them. It sounds like it's time to find a better hiding spot.
  4. Jump into a server I have been working hard to get gear on. Just playing casually doing loot runs into industrial spawns for mechanical loot and basic supplies. I fill up some tents and repair two vehicles. Next day I come in after a good nights sleep and a hard day at work. Tents empty. One vehicle gone. One vehicle crashed because apparently they were too retarded to drive. So 20 hours of hard work down the drain. No point in the effort when you get griefed whilst offline and no way to protect yourself. No point doing anything but hunting down and killing everyone I can find. Some of these tents/vehicles need to be stored away from the server whilst offline. Otherwise there is never going to be a point to this game beyond PvP. It is a major reason why players like myself play as bandits. Until then, there is no other point to the game. See you in Cherno and Elektro.
  5. Hehe, auto cucumber. I pretty much follow what everyone else is saying, remove thermal, maybe keep a (verrry) rare anti-material rifle for taking vehicles down.

    First, Rocket I must say that this mod will be remember as one of the best during the course of my lifetime. It is remarkable that so many people have purchased ARMA II to play your mod with little or no experience in Military Sims. The only other mod I've played which has taken so much of my time has been Counter-Strike. The production and unique attributes of the game make it undeniably entertaining. The gritty nature which pits a player against his environment and other players is brilliant and unheard of for modern games which want you to reach point A/point B, rinse, and repeat. Now I have noticed that the amount of players in recent days has been on the decline, at least in terms of actively playing, and that the patches have slowed down which I assume is because of the launch of the independent product. I hope the best for you and your team in the continued success of DayZ in fan reception and sales. Now that I have sung your praises I will just throw you my two cents on the topic. There are things I truly love about what you have done here: the stark reality of death, hedging of bets on other players or to use precious ammo, the complete uncertainly of what could happen next, the scarcity of resources necessary for survival, and the inclusion of zombies zeds in your mod. I would not change this at all for any reason whatsoever it is vital to the atmosphere of the game and gives the realism which so many games cannot achieve. The problems I have with your game for the most part a minor, but they detract from everything in the game. Now I hate that there are no civilians which haven't been turned, the options here are limitless. Imagine watching a woman run through the fields screaming for help and it leaving you the choice to save or ignore her. Save her and she might have some valuable items stashed away that she would be willing to share, but suddenly you have another mouth to feed and a follower. Another idea would be the lone hunter who is returning home to find the zombie apocalypse, while he adds another set of eyes and a gun he might be a liability. Considering new players don't start with a weapon I would always welcome a follower in that circumstance. Another problem is how the items are found in the game, I know the limitations of the ARMA II engine attribute to the majority of these problems, but I love the crashed Heli idea and think it should be extrapolated. Crashed convoys with military loot and civilian crashes with appropriate items or a semi-functional car. These two fix on of the biggest problems with the mod in my eyes, which is everyone NEEDS to go to Stary/NW Airfield to get arms. This turns it into bandit central and a melting pot for every type of player. With such a large map it would only make sense to use all of it rather than limit the action to 2-3 hotzones. A problem I've found is that while I play almost strictly on my own is that I lose interest very quickly once I'm fully geared. I still play but there is nothing to captivate my attention like equipping a new player. The events I listed above would spice up what I could do, but they wouldn't garner as much a the initial building process. I've blindly charged into towns with the intent to die just to start over. I know the majority of people play with a friend, but I don't know anyone who can run or would play DayZ so in turn I tend to take care of myself. I know you said you didn't want to focus on character building, but at the current moment I have no allegiance to my characters and it hurts the experience. I like the idea of humanity being added which would track your actions. I know you are fine tuning them, but I think it should track who you spend time with as Bandits/Heros acting together drain/add to your humanity. Finally I think that vehicles should spawn more frequently and that infrequently used vehicles could be used as information passed by NPC survivors. Imagine saving a random NPC which would direct you to a hidden Heli/ATV/ect that would have otherwise never been found. The biggest problem with having such a large map is that without transportation it makes it very hard to go anywhere. Furthermore having vehicles makes perfect sense considering how many existed before and how few people survived. Just my thoughts on the subject. Kudos to those who read it and give a reasonable response. tl;dr Interactive NPCs, spreading the wealth of items across the map, lasting appeal, and more vehicles.
  7. some of these may have been mentioned but heres a few i thought of: -the ability to change weapons while running. -different tent styles, not just the old tent (theres a round tent in arma already, why cant we have those too?) -ablity to take parts from one vehicle to fix another -empty mags remain in inventory, make loose ammo to refill magazines. -"take all" button for picking up loot -hats, pants, shirts, jackets, shoes, and maybe other accessories, all changeable or you can just wear underwear. will help differentiate between players and people will just be happier. different hairstyles for men and women too -ability to climb ledges or over some chain-link fences (climb trees?) and climb into and out of windows -able to post signs or just paint on side of buildings and billboards. to either warn people, trap them, or claim territory -ability to hang people, or just tie them up and drag them from a car or horse. cages for prisoners? -extend map beyond current borders (new towns? bigger mountains? a river?) -if map is extended maybe add a cesna? -passengers can shoot from vehicle -windows break when shot -can light cars, houses, and parts of the forest on fire (maybe they can reset back to normal a few days after burning) -dice and/or dartboard for downtime? people have to keep track of their own scores. dont cheat ;) -useable chairs. portable chairs and tables too? for bases or camps. on top of that, the ability to place items on a table rather than just on the floor. -ability to search pockets so you dont have to kill someone to see what they have on them. mostly used for prisoners -ability to holster sidearm, and sidearm visible in holster when equipped but not in use -different tactical gear and you have to find it before being able to use it, example: gun holsters and leg pouches. finding these allow you too carry a little more and otherwise your pistol is held in your waistband when not in use and takes a second longer to pull out. -variety of interchangeable weapon attachments (scopes, flash/sound suppressors, flashlights) -high caliber, semi auto sniper rifles less common. maybe bolt action high caliber rifles? -more civilian type choppers and repairable humvees. copilot can take control of chopper if passed off or if pilot lags out -trailers for towing or storage, campers/RVs (players can walk inside campers, if possible) -car doors open when getting in, same for trunk when transferring gear and hood when fixing engine. need car jack to change tires, maybe even to do work on motor -animations for fixing vehicles should take longer, as should eating, bandaging, setting up tents, and cooking. able to cancel animations and pick up where you left off, say u can eat half a can of beans and finish the rest later. open cans may smell and attract zombies after a while if still food left inside goes uneaten. eating this rotten food gives 25% chance of getting sick. also can start fixing a car motor and have to stop because of zombies or another player, then you can come back and finish fixing. or after the other player kills you, he can start where you left off -sniper aiming similar to ACE where you have to take wind into account as well as distance and can adjust scope depending on conditions (regular weapons also have to factor in wind conditions at long range but still effective and close to medium range) -add flare gun -add molotov cocktail and ability to make them (jerry can + empty whiskey bottles + rags + matches. 1 jerry can could fill 4 bottles, lets say) -actual birds that fly, land, and can be shot maybe they sit on telephone wire sometimes and can be found pecking at dead players bodies. flocks of birds near cities where there are lots of dead and undead -tripwire to make traps like doorway grenade traps or noisemakers and flare traps, nets or even punji traps (punji + poo = nasty infection on top of horrible pain) -bows and arrows (flame arrows too)
  8. Your tents should remain untouched! This should be solved very soon, we are doing maintenance on a few servers this week. We are releasing rMod tonight or tomorrow afternoon depending on a few things we have to finish. This is going to be our #1 priority after rMod is finished, I cannot give a guaranteed release time because it will take some testing to incorporate it with our DayZTools control panel. I assure you it will be released very soon as it is one of our top priorities! UPDATE: Stay tuned for rMod release, we are about 95% finished with setting up our servers with rMod. Chernarus has 128 total vehicles! Lingor Island has 108 total vehicles!

We recently launched a brand new server on a private hive and would love some additional players. This is a password protected server however it just requires registration on our official site which enables you to instantly see the password.     i dont mind hackers. I was thinking of getting hacks, but there no point if im going to get banned in a week. if you get everyhacker you meet banned then you are just going to leave a bunch of hackers that will just kill you teleport you and ruin your game play you should try and just get the bad hackers banned that use god mod and teleport to other players and kill them. hackers that kill everyone. take their vehicles. destroy their camps. destroy vehicles. spawning vehicles isn't as bad as some people think. unless its a overboard vehicle like a jet. but if its other vehicles like quads off roads then it could be good. i played ona server that didn't have veichles besides quads, boats, bikes, moterbikes, tractors and buses. when veichles came in the server filled with players after a week.

    If your bored and you want to help then the server is SE 53 ip is (94.242.227.162 :2302), and i dont think that we are looking to team up with anyone right now, we are a pretty tactical team... but on this server we have seen some guys driving a truck around cherno and elecktro, so we are trying to find that, and the car we had. is gone, like it vanished.. so we are continuing to look for it.. but if you dont want to help then whatev's, its not that big of a deal, we can research good tactics for finding vehicles, but right now we need help finding this car, or the truck but thats only a two seater i think... but hey if you see mattias.. kill him, he is a bandit I seriously feel like there is a trick that we dont know to get a vehicle.. i see so many people with one but i can NEVER seem to find any, ever... i just wish more spawned

    Sad to hear. However, a piece of advice. You know that rule, never get attached to your gear? That rule applies x10 for vehicles. They never last long. They are too easy to steal and too easy to blow up. You're gonna have to deal with the fact that you're not going to be able to enjoy them for very long.

    Define horded vehicles. If my group puts the time in to collect and maintain a fleet of vehicles and hunts other players, which is our standard MO, how long until we get kicked/banned? When I am not out of town working I average about 4 hours a day of DayZ time, my wife often plays along side me and a couple other buddies, which would equate to somewhere around 6-8 man hours a day of members of my group being on the server. How often are server restarts? Is there warning before the restart? Make no mistake, we are bandits and will ruin the day of anyone we can. We shoot first and don't ask questions. I personally will not use, or bring with me scripted weapons, but one of my guys has an AS-50 TWS that we collected from an admin camp on another server, which surprisingly shut down permanently the next day. I did however flatten all of their tents and save them empty before flattening... If we find a camp, we will take what we want from it, then destroy it. If we find a vehicle we don't want, we'll destroy it. We would be pleased to be your resident bandits, assuming your admins play fair and won't use server restarts as a weapon to reduce our groups combat effectiveness. An example being, seeing the UAZ driving by and restarting the server so that there is a number of bandits/survivors standing on the road when they log back in. We have talked about getting our own server, but our group isn't large enough to justify our own server, but we might be willing to support a good home even if the regulars hate us!

Well large amount of us were taking a break tonight due to the massive desync issue with the server atm, we were hoping to jump on a repair a chopper and a couple of vehicles and then kill some peepas for ammo :) Are the "shady" people you are referring to part of BSB or just randoms on the server? there is a no exploit policy in BSB so highly doubt you mean us and the vast majority of BSB I have played with even on my own server for a while now, if however evidence is found of a BSB member doing something they shouldn't I would appreciate you making contact so it could be investigated and dealt with. On topic, Venthos mod is awesome as said but desync is a giant nightmare atm but we understand you are busy and will get round to fixing the problem, on that note you may have got a message or maybe it's a post in here from Vanity/Vanzor regarding servers? He is a quality member of BSB and is willing to help you out with both US and EU servers if you are interested in coming to some sort of agreement with him. If you are interested drop a PM and we can get you both on our TS/swap email addresses or something and sort out the terms. 2 other minor things, 4 choppers although cool seems maybe excessive atm but maybe too early to call we'll get back to you on that and is it possible to put some sort of restriction on out of bounds area? I appreciate people like their shiny cars but I also like stealing them and hate running around the entire map to not find what am looking for when I stash all my stuff on map quite fairly. Anyways keep up the good work Venthos.
  17. On the server titled US 69 Veteran Vehicles: MAXED Helis: 3-5 (v1.7.2.6/build 96584) Sidechat- Enabled 3DP-ON WayPoints-ON Nametags-OFF and I would like the be unbanned. I was banned for supposed Remote Code Execution from an admin. To be honest I believe it was because of me crashing a helicopter but I am not sure. I would have asked the owner or admin but I am not sure who one was since after googling, I only found some statistics websites which did not state the owner of the server or a way I could contact them. :L The name used on the server: Tin Tin

I tried getting on US 1993 because thats usually a clean server where me and some of my friends play, but when I got on today there were tall buildings and battleships spawned EVERYWHERE around the map, plus vehicles. It made the sever RIDICULOUSLY laggy. I was wonder if there was anyone out there that could "clean-up" the server back to its original state.

    Im not sure if Admins can check where the vehicles are but i know scripts do exist for it. Some admins may use this but i certainly don't. Generally i think you are just being unlucky where you are hiding your vehicles, nothing more depressing than logging back in the middle of nowhere to find your transport gone!

    What version are you running? Sometimes certain servers have trouble with vehicles saving location properly. However, people may just be finding them. Or a scripter can run a script that brings all vehicles to his location.

    That's what we have already, so can you clearly detail the "silly" The only difference is that there is a reduced availablilty of gear in DayZ. I'm not suggesting that you go to international airfield and there be an entire squadron of A-10s, but perhaps one or two that can be made operational. I'm not suggesting either that you go to the barracks and there be crates of all the different weapons. What am suggesting is that they should all be available on the loot table, even if the spawn rate is extremely rare. I don't believe for a second that gear makes a better player, I've killed ghillied out super snipers with the Lee Enfield because they relied too heavily on their gear and not their brain. I've been killed for relying too heavily on my gear instead of using my brain. I've been killed by weapons scripted into the game, but I don't complain about it, because my death was a result of my failing to be aware of my surroundings. I've been killed by hackers too, but as irritating as that is, I can recognize that those issues will be under better control in the stand alone. Demanding that more gear be removed from the game isn't using your brain, it's being lazy. Oh I totally agree with you, however if you have a large enough group of people it is feasible to maintain a rather large fleet of vehicles without resorting to parking off map or duplicating components to fix the vehicles. The UH-1H needs pretty substantial logistics behind it as well, however DayZ does a reasonable job of replicating the logistics needed to keep it operational. An A-10 is going to require more logistics to keep it operational, and the repair process should reflect that, should it ever be available as a legitimate vehicle. I totally agree on the tires and most of the vehicle parts spawned. I can tell you from my own experience, you're not going to pick up a cast iron engine block and toss it in your backpack and carry it all around hells half acre. The UH-1H uses a turbine engine, so how could parts from a reciprocating engine even be useful on the UH-1H? Certain realities are more difficult than others to model digitally and reproduce with authenticity, the vehicle repair model is one of those realities. You're right we don't need an explanation as to why every firearm isn't available. However due to the large military presence in Chernarus, it is likely there would be a fair amount of NVGs and premium grade military firearms, ripe for the picking. Where is all the logistics that supported the dead zombie soldiers? Where are all the weapons left over from the dead military zombies?

Im part of the "inexperienced" group ;) What do you like to primarly do: I like scavenging, setting up construction, driving vehicles/picking people up, spotting, medical support; most unconventional things. I am not big on PvP but am no slouch in a fight either.
