Server this happened on: US 1332 Time that it happened: 12:15-30 am PST(My time) Hackers name in game: SpectruM What happened during the incident: We were at grid 060 / 102. We were just crossing the field when a member of our party was sniped. We ran to the tree line, I had eye's on him in treeline north of the pond, I then lost him and thought he was crawling around us then from behind another of our party was shot dead by an M4A1 CCO SD. I ran to his ATV and saw him running on the treeline. Put 5 rounds in him and he ran back into the tree's directly into my buddy who put a full clip from his M4 into him, during that i was on the other side and put another clip from the M24 into him. He turned and just killed me and walked away. He is currently still on the server. This punk needs a ban now. Thanks.

What happened: about 2 days ago we started playing on us198, myself and some mates. After wandering around in the wilderness for an hour or 2 we came across a large camp with multiple vehicles and many tents. When we found the camp the server went down. At first we assumed it was a crash but now whenever we connect they immedeatly shut down the server. We reconnected today upon seeing the server was live again thought we could finally go raid the camp we found. About 5 seconds into the game we were kicked and the server shut down. It came back a minute later but when we tried to connect we recieved an error messge saying we have been battle eye banned for ghosting. One of my friends hasnt even seen the camp and wasn't there when we found it the first time around and he has also recieved a ban just for connecting. Evidence/Proof: Everytime we connect the server shuts down. The same people appear to be present in the server and we have been banned for no good reason. We figure they are only using the server as a camp server for themselves to rearm and collect vehicles and good weapons in peace. As a side note were ot bothered about getting in and the camp anymore just thought it was very unsporting and maybe something would be done about it. Thanks in advance, Calaghan

As I've said, the only difference between the private hive server I play on and the hive servers is the source of the database. Everything else (with the exception of a much more robust anti-cheat on the private server) is exactly the same. Because everything else is the same, I can effectively comment on flaws in gameplay mechanics and bugs. You're right about Rocket being unable to see who is and isn't Alt+F4ing in our servers, as well as a few other key statistics, but we take care of the Alt+F4ing and ghosting in our servers by ensuring that those people never play on the server again. Also, because I DO play on hive servers occasionally, I am serving as a data point. I don't play exclusively on non-hive servers.

Doesn't matter. Rules state you cannot ban someone without reason. Those reasons are :Racism, Ghosting, Disconnecting in Gun Fight.......

Surely they've taken some countermeasures to ghosting, look at how many members they're getting O_o

The fact of the matter is, that locking the server, and shutting down the server are two totally different things. Locking the server would imply a select few players will get access to the server while the greater population does not get to play; allowing that group to secure spawns, loot, etc. As we have all already said 1038 has never locked their server. Now shutting the server down for one reason or another, be it because there is no admin on for an hour or two and there is a realistic fear of hackers, is not against the rules. I see no rule saying that the server needs to be online 24/7. The Persistent world is not being changed or hurt. That being because there are NO players on the world. No one is making changes, and all will be as it was when it comes back on. The only reason I could see someone crying about the fact of a few hours of downtime would be the ones causing these problems of hacking, ghosting, or griefing.

TO THE OP: DON'T group all private servers into one stereotyped category. I run a very good server and do what I can to adhere to the guidelines listed for official hive servers. The REASON I run a private server are as follows (and will change as the mod progresses from alpha and beyond): 1. Combat Logging - Needs no explanation as to why it is a valid reason for me to want a private hive (combined with # 2 it's even more annoying) 2. Ghosting or where they reposition themselves by changing servers, moving, then rejoining the server you are in but now they are behind you -Again, no explanation needed for that one 3. I can ban Griefers, hackers, abusive players that are making it miserable for other players to enjoy the game - I got messaged on my teamspeak server that there was someone with a rocket launcher near cherno blowing up people as they fresh spawned ALSO, - In my MOTD it clearly specifies that Combat Logging results in instant death (If reported and I find out who it is and that it is a valid complaint, I kill them via database hive entry by setting them to dead) -How can I tell if they combat logged, well, because : finding their player information in the hive I can see information like this or similar (this is an example) [false,true,false,true,true,false,true,6506.39,[\"aimpoint\",\"relbow\",\"LeftFoot\",\"neck\"] [character information etc............][blood..][where and how are they hurt..................] And then I can pretty much say they were combat logging Official Admins don't have access to this kind of information and are at a loss to prevent players being unfair. I spend most of my game day Administrating my server, my game time has dwindled drastically as my player base increased since I spend most of my time getting more and more acquainted with the Day Z mod and its hive MySQL database so that I can be that much more effective admin. Not forgetting to mention that I review hours of server console logs to find and fix any issues. I also go through the hive database and remove old unused player data and suspicious player data.

This is DayZ rewarding me for never ghosting, server hopping, or item duping... I've had some of these weapons in past lives... But never all of them... At the same time, in one life...

I thought a good way to stop ghosting might be to give servers a 15-20 minute "memory" of every player who leaves, and their last location. If a player rejoins within that deadline and their location from the hive doesnt match the server record then that player is forced to spawn in that last known location, which is then updated back to the hive again. After the deadline has passed the record of the player is deleted.

Hello. Ive got banned today, i killed one of their members earlier that day and said i were coming back as a joke. On my way to the airfield after a relog to pee, i suddently get a ban right up my ass for "server ghosting" I got a screenshot of the ban: http://www.xaionara.net/ban.jpg I never ghosted, i never even switched server because i went to fucking pee when i logged out and back in, i was in the lobby the entire time of this event. What proof does these guys have even against me? I would like to hear their story about this, or the ban removed. (You aint even allowed to ban for this if im right?) If you are not allowed to ban for ghosting, i would like to see this server blacklisted. Austin, I really hope this ban is not a result of you and your crew misreporting and making assumptions regarding the events of this fight, and asking the server admin to issue this ban... that would be a real shame since Ghosthawx1 is a legit player and does not hack. Allow me to offer my point of view since *I* was the one who shot you from the west of your position with the L85. Please note: There is a glitch on that truck. When it takes damage, if both the driver and passenger get out and then back in, it auto-repairs itself. Same exact glitch that the bicycle has. This is not a hack, it is a bug; get the truck, run into something, and try it. You will be able to confirm this just as I have. He did check *for* the bodies but could not find them. Not sure why he could not find the bodies because myself and the other two of our folks had respawned on the coast and were working our way back north with fresh characters. I suspect that Ghosthawx was just being careful -- he was shot up pretty good and did not want to loiter in the area not knowing if your crew were still in the vicinity. However, I can confirm that someone found my body in the woods to the west but did not hide it because a few of my item were missing; thankfully I was able to recover most of my items. I understand the desire to ban cheaters, I too would like to see combat logging and ghosting eliminated. Sadly, I think you're taking a bit of a Vigilante position here, and falsely accusing a legit player. I urge you to reconsider your position on this. It's good to know that you speak for the admins, but I would really like to hear from them directly on this. I *know* that the server logs will clear him, but sadly Ghosthawx1 is being wrongly accused and banned without any due review. ..and yes... That was *my* first encounter with an L85 -- I did not know that I could zero the gun sights to range which is why I fired so many shots attempting to get the "Kentucky Windage" correct. Some of those shots were at the truck, not you and your crew as I was attempting to hit the tires. However, once Ghosthawx1 mentioned to me that I could adjust the gun sights, I zeroed them to 700m and dropped you in three shots -- you were making it difficult running around like that, and I admit that the final shot to the face was somewhat lucky on my part. Unfortunately, this is *exactly* what is happening here. Austin, obviously the server admins respect you and your crew as legit players since they issued a ban on another player solely on your report (I assume) without fully reviewing the logs. Sadly my friend, you are in error here. Here is the breakdown from my angle... We had five in our crew: three out in the Ute and an ATV scavenging helicopter crashes south of Pobeda dam, one (myself) scouting terrain for vehicle hiding spots, and one (Ghosthawx1) who had just returned back to our base with another of our crew (a sixth) from Berezino after seeing how badly it was glitched and calling off our planned raid over there. We have our own TS3 server, so Ghosthawx1 was still on TS with us even after he logged off US 88. Your crew ambushed our two crew driving the Ute up through the Pobeda damn area about two minutes after Ghosthawx1 logged off; he heard the call on TS for contact and the report of our two dying to your ambush. Cudos to you and your crew Austin, your ambush was well executed and our two crew were being stupid and deserved what they got driving around like that. However, Ghosthawx had logged out only 1km away from the ambush location and I was about 1.5km to your south west scouting terrain. Our guy on the ATV was within 4km, but he crashed the ATV trying to get up to the dam from your south -- he never made it to the subsequent fight. Ghosthawx1 logged back in and moved into a firing position to get eyes on you with rangefinders while I maneuvered around to your west. Ghosthawx1 got into a high position and began dropping rounds on your head, and your crew fought back and wounded him. While this was happening, I got into position to your west and began taking shots at your crew as well. Ghosthawx1 became critically wounded and had to retreat out for medical treatment - he also warned me of the likelihood that at least one of your shooters had an L85. I managed to drop you from a lucky shot, and one of your crew (the L85 guy?) nailed me with a head shot -- nice shooting. This was a legit encounter from my perspective that in no way warranted a player ban; your crew won the day -- good job, you have my respect. But please, refrain from the Vigilante approach and give the process of server admin review the chance to work. The ban of Ghosthawx1 is an invalid and completely unwarranted ban.

I was in a firefight earlier with these guys earlier, sniped one with a AS50. The rest of the group stayed on the server for a good five minutes, even though one was ghosting. So, they aren't total pussies.

For those who see: [HB]Bear Grylls [HB]Dr Broski [HB]OG Loc Please tear them a new asshole, as they disconnect, reconnect, take a few shots at you in hopes of killing- if they miss, they'll disconnect again and repeat steps. They also server hope to a near location where you fired at them and return back to your server (Ghosting is the term I believe?) to shoot at you, and if you get the better hand, *le poof* - They'll disconnect.

Here are the details: cheating = perma ban + report to the devs hacking = perma ban + report to the devs ghosting = 1 day ban disconnecting whilst pvp = 7 days ban exploiting = 7 days ban Restarts Restarts will be performed manually. The server will remain locked for up to 5 minutes after a restart to ensure everythin will be loaded properly.

I am a server admin, and am curious about some of the kicking / banning rules. The other day while I was in Cherno a sniper killed one of my buddies right next to me while one of his buddies started climbing the building we were on. I got behind cover and watched the guy on the ladder. He then disappeared and I looked at BERcon to get his name. About 10 minutes later this player that DC'd rejoins the server and I see him behind me. In this situation, is it alright to ban? He technically didn't "Hack" the game, but he did ghost behind me while I was legit covering the ladder he tried to climb up.

There should be a 1 minute delay of the character leaving the server - and - if it could be implemented someway, a non-legit close (esc, abort, disconnect) would result in a random spawn. This would also eliminate ghosting. For a legit close, just gray out the abort button for 15 seconds.

Haha, that was me screaming OHHH BOYYYY... haha it was pretty funny, i came out on top of whoever i was shooting then you shot me from above, i got one shot off right before you nailed me, obv i didnt hit you :P.... And I went up there a little after everyone died, good thing you guys got me because the ghoster would have, and i checked all the bodies.. it was you guys and AOT Michael and AOT Jimbob, guys who me and evo have on fraps DCing and ghosting over 9000 times. Those two are a complete joke... It doesn't surprise me that their bodies were up there when they never climbed the ladder on this server to get up there. oh, and i was the original guy with the DMR up there, was at kill 10+ before you nailed me heh

Hello Stan I know of the camp you are on about and i can reassure you there has been no cheating done to create it. All the vehicles were legitimately found and the tents are currently broken and duplicate. We created this camp to create some conflict on the server, rather than the occasional incursion. Trying to encourage people to try and steal and attack the fortress. Thank you for letting me know of your issue and once again i can reassure you that camp is 100% Legitimate. We are very strict on hacking/Alt-f4/ghosting in DE7 and meet every one of them with serious consequences. Many Thanks Throbin, DE7 Owner.

Periodically wiping some all tents/vehicles would probably hurt the legit players most. The people who actively dupe will only have to do a few crash site/NWAF runs to get one of each item and then dupe the shit out of them again. I agree though that this is one of the biggest issues atm. The thrill of the loot hunt is pretty much gone now for me after i found a city of ~20 tents stocked with everything you could ever want. At first me and my friends thought we had actually raided it, but the tents just had MORE of the same items a day later due to intentional or unintentional duping. But yea, imo duping is one of the 3 biggest issues atm right after ALT-F4 and ghosting and once it is fixed all characters, tents and vehicles need to be wiped.

The servers aren't what's wrong (regular, rookie, veteran, etc) it's that the settings are so completely different from one to the other. I can log onto a Veteran server with CH:OFF and find myself with crosshairs and magical abilities to see zombies and other players on the sides of my screen. It's so sporadic to find a server with legit playing rules. It needs to be simplified so where everyone knows what they are getting into. My opinion is that DayZ should have no wall hacking or glowing spheres of who-knows-what. It ruins immersion and I have instead been finding ways to abuse it to track players, only because I want to know if that's being done against me; and it is. So ya, do away with the fluffy bullshit and get hardcore settings going. 3rd person is already a noob magnet as it is, take away free-ghosting.

NCR has great tactics by ghosting into servers, might as well change the nerdcore to noobcore. If your gunna raid GMS at least do it legit, cause that shit you pulled aint raiding.

Even if you remove the ban , you have to prove why we were banned. You can't just ban people because you think they are hackers. Actually we all know that it was a lame excuse to get rid of our attack. I didn't manage to see people in game, I was going to back up my mates and I suddenly got banned. You can't just ban people from your server just because they are attaking you. You can say we were hacking, we were ghosting or we were throwing you goats, it does not matter, as far as i know, you can't ban anybody from your server just because you want to. So please,post proofs of all the guys you banned from your server, I think you banned like 6 -7 people, so proofs , 1 by 1 please. I would not call people idiot when they actually were having problems updating the game and were not even in the game as you can tell from the report... It's just lame, really lame...
