Started to be a silly glitchy game (sorry i mean mod)
ZomboWTF replied to ramazoti's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
but i dont wanna do math :( to the OP: if its so glitchy and hackers dont get banned while legit players get banned, let me guess: you got banned but i bet you werent playing legit, instead i take another guess here and say you got banned for ghosting/server hopping or a hack you found in the internet you thought would be okay to do if not, you're just making assumptions and are a fool, i never heard of people getting banned while playing legit -
Banned from US 1023 to "check logs"
The Scrub replied to jameskp's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If you read the thread in its entirety you shall see that according to your members I personally was Disconnecting to avoid death, ghosting, combat logging, apparently over TS some of you guys were talking to others about how i was an obvious hacker etc. It's just ghey tbh. You can say shit about us but here is a point you cannot dispute. A numerically inferior force attacked some of your clan who had a chopper ( with big ass guns on it ) and later on more of your members were killed *without ever receiving fire themselves* 2 of us wiped 6 of you without you even shooting back. If I was in a clan who that happened to, I'd think twice about being there. Helpful tip maybe spend time when you're bored training for scenarios instead of sitting outside Cherno with As50's. -
North American group looking for a couple more. Requirements: Age 21 + ( no exceptions whatsoever) Teamspeak, mic and headphones, push to talk. Dedicated: You play every day as a general rule. Capable of listening: Everyone has an opinion but if a leader gives an order, you listen and do not complain about it. Experience players only. you know the map, know how to drive and don't shit yourself in pvp. No duping, exploiting, hacking, ghosting or server hopping. None. Integrity: This is a hard one to explain so I'll let you be the judge. PM me for more information if interested.

Firstly this is not a QQ thread if people want to hack a game in Alpha I couldn't care less thats the point in Alpha. One of the main reasons why I would never hack this game (and I could if i desired) is because it's a personal experience game, it creates stories and the best stories are the raw, real stories the ones were you was close to death not a situation were there was no danger because that is not a real story or experience. With hacking the stories are not found they are generated and this to me is boring. Secondly I don't kill players, so that means I have no reason to get all these guns and wepons and making myself invisable why would I. Yes there are bandits and also hackers and I am likely being hunter by several people at once and having powerfull wepons to defend myself would be useful. Having said that if I am hacking and I am hunter by a hacker it is a stalemate no one will win, if I am a hacker and I am hunter by Bandits yeah I will likely win, but I could also win if I manually got wepons for myself, and also i get more self worth that I did defend myself. I wouldn't hack because it disrespects the game and the developers, they have put so much time and effort into creating this game for me, and all that hackers do are drive away the community to other games of a similar stature (The War Z) and I would not want to do this. So yeah thats why I dont hack, I understand that hackers have several reasons themselves why they feel they need to, but the only real reason is because the can't play the game and they feel they need to cheat to get ahead. IMO Ghosting is worse than hacking.

This whole discussion about the CQF... You know, I was part of the CQF and now I am no more, but only because I lack the time to be productive for the group. So I was on another server yesterday, doing a trade and that server got hacked. I knew who it was because I saw him (unfortunately my fraps did not work at all...), but lets not get offtopic. Right after the hacker did his thing and killed me and a buddy, people started stating it was "the bad {cdf}" (our tag today) and that we are claiming fals by naming the hacker directly in side chat. My point: Whoever whines about the CQF might be a bit right, the group itself is tight and does NOT disconnect or grief, there might be a few members beeing dumbfucks, but not the whole group. YOU are just stating it's CQF in general because you only see the tag and HATE that there are people gaming together while you are all alone, only griefing and ghosting. YOU know how griefing and ghosting looks like, because you do it yourself. YOU state things you can't prove, but because it happened on a CQF server it automatically must have been the CQF and all other survivors are friendlies but not the CQF? Wtf is wrong with your brain? Second thing: Disconnecting might be bad, I don't do it myself because I rage upon those who do it, but there is absolutely no point in giving the whole group the shitz only because there are some pricks using this exploit. Duping? Heck, even if did, wtf does it concern you? If there is duping you could (and probably would if you had a tent or vehicle) do the same thing, so give us all some rest and stop complaining. It's not right but it can be done, e-basta, I say: EVERYONE once used it, so don't judge others if you did the same eventually. Scripting: NOBODY at CQF scripts stuff, never ever, thats why the CQF admins keep Battle-Eye updated and SEARCH for players hacking extensively, so quit that point immidiately, really. Another Alt+f4 concerning point: Learn to aim and kill fast, that's all I can say to that, spraying your gun at someone is as bad as disconnecting, really, if you "bandit" can't kill during the first three shots you are not even worth a makarov mag ;) Thats all peeps, hate me, hate me naow, for I just told you the things you did not even want to hear, rage upon me, quote me, call me dumb or faggot, because my box of fu**s to give is empty and you wont even receive the slightest "give a f***nes" from me anyways, whiners. -

This is interesting, because I never say we're an elite unit anywhere. Actually I do say were a "third rate group of Spetsnaz that are probably shitfaced more often than not". I figured you'd like my little server admin announcement to welcome the man that put a price on my peoples heads. -Ghosting, my guys don't do that. They fucking hate it more than hacking -Alt-F4ing, yes they might, but we are cracking down on that -Script Spawn Vehicles, really? Thats a first, seriously, don't accuse unless you got it right since thats considered of the worst offense here -Dupe, same thing with Alt-F4 -Camp elecktro? We're mostly up north so I'd doubt it -Revert the server, we can't do this as its not possible in any way for an admin to do But we must do something right because you want to mingle with us so often. I hope you have a lovely day and I hope that when you see issues that you have stated you can report them with proof and I can handle them. Until that point in time, continue with your punkass banditry and such. Best Regards Johnny -
Scripters, Hackers, have more control than me, an admin.
[email protected] replied to beans's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Must not? Why? Do you even play this game? Have you not seen the cheat reporting forum here? It's ridiculous how many threads there are there. Our own server has hackers on it multiple times a day, often employing hacks that kill everyone and ruin the game for everyone. There's also something I don't understand, too. You keep saying that we need proof to submit to the devs for their consideration. Ok. What proof? How can I find that proof? It's not in the logs (any hacker worth his salt uses a BattleEye bypass), and it's not anywhere else. I'm not going to keep Fraps running the entire time I play, since that wouldn't really capture anything other than my magically being teleported into the air and dying. What, exactly, am I supposed to get? Can't that be done now? Ghosting is always a problem, as is duping. In any case, for some reason, there seems to be a fundamental lack of trust of server admins at work here. I'm not sure why, since that's never been a problem with any other game that I've been involved with. No other game developer has told me who I can and can't kick/ban. I'd honestly like to know why the devs don't trust us to police our own territory. I realize that there are some petulant folks out there who will kick/ban for any perceived slight, but frankly, I'd rather risk that than allow the game to be completely overrun by hackers as it is now. Why do you think this? -

Alphabeta replied to jameskp's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
What was odd is that the same GUID's were jumping around ghosting as found in the logs. -
According to this guys post, I should be unbanned in Seattle 36 for ghosting and DC kill dodging. If the only reasons to ban listed are racism or malicious talk as I am very polite in server.

The Reason more and more people don't enjoy DayZ
neo2157 replied to B Allred's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Easily fixed by not exploiting tents, I have to wonder what you guys on this forum would be like in a game of D&D or pathfinder, you'd probably start the game with maxed characters and only fight weak monsters that always drop the best items and then complain the games to easy and boreing. Oh boy.... were to even begin, this game is not built for realism if it was eating and bandageing wouldn't be instant, bullets would have to be extracted, loot would not randomly spawn in multiple times a day, etc. if guns killing people in one or two hits and friendly fire are "realism" I have to say thats pretty poor realism. How does one identify ANYBODY? we all use the same player model and so there is ZERO ability for the community to know which characters KOS, lastly its impossible to make safe zones because of sniper rifles that can kill 1km away and expoits like ghosting, ALT-F4, etc if players actually had the ability to make safe zones trust me they would have. (perfect example is the traders, that place was a fortress but that didn't stop the ghosters from exploiting in and killing people.) -
so , in theory someone could set up a webpage giving the URL to their secure dedicated sanctuary server and have lingor, takistan and cherno map all playing Dayz?.. no ghosting, no d/cing...???? AND they run battleeye!!! I don't understand why anyone is still playing the hive version (unless they like to exploit)... If the Dayz team doesn't seem to care (or are unable to do anything ) about these servers then I think I might have to check this out.... seems like the solution to ALOT of the problems.... Wish the admins would chime in...

I don't often post threads of this nature, but unfortunately sometimes it is necessary due to the problems myself and other players within the group I play with have experienced playing on US 1543. The first problems were nothing too serious, a bit of combat logging and some ghosting but nothing unexpected. Our group found a few vehicles and as such we started to frequent the server more often. It's been fine for a few days and we had had no problems with them until today. One of our group discovered their base, within which 2 of their tagged members {PAF} BoomPow and {PAF} Foxtrot, as well as another untagged player named Matthew. At first they were firing off shots at will, seemingly random which seems a bit unusual as ammo for the particular weapon, an M240 (I believe) is not a particularly easily obtainable item in large quantities. After a few minutes of this random firing Matthew was killed, although the three of them within the group had been running around. Our friend who had been maintaining over-watch on their base then found a player right next to him and subsequently was killed. This is where things got really interesting; I met up with a friend who had his motorbike that we were going to go north with, upon getting on to the motorbike a black SUV teleported in front of us with both Matthew and {PAF} BoomPow inside it (PMC addon SUV), seeing this I immediately opened fire on the two of them within the vehicle - Matthew was killed although even after 8-9 shots {PAF} BoomPow was still alive and had time to take his M240 out and kill both myself and the player I was with. By no means am I clearly stating that {PAF} are a clan of hackers, although an explanation from a {PAF} member would be nice to clarify this situation. EDIT: After respawning, we were greeted by the welcome sight of a UH-1H over Elektro, which proceeded to mow down any, and everything with little care for ammunition consumption. They landed, carefree, in the middle of the town and a member unloaded who then killed me, you'd think that one would take a little more care of a helicopter in-game. Not the best behaviour from a clan.

Valec replied to Zoop's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Actually, I play on one server, but nice try. As far as the hacking goes, for one, it's alpha. No, that doesn't mean that hacking is okay. It means it's a problem to be addressed by the developers. Not you. Not by changing rules that are in place to prevent admins and their friends from having safe servers to loot. If you can't wait for a fix from the devs, why are you even playing? Again, I repeat, this is alpha. You're here to test. It's a nice side effect that you get to have fun too. Nothing more. All this says is that you have more money than sense and probably don't work for any of it. son! I don't wonder if that's the real solution, but there's problems there too. Private databases can be modified by the host of said databases, which still allows for cheating. However, it would eliminate a lot of exploits like server hopping for loot as well as ghosting in combat. You, sir, are a commendable member of this community and we should all strive to be a bit more sensible and level-headed in our debates as well. -
I feel sorry for anyone that has to work for you, makes one mistake, gets fired. Mistakes are made, this was worked out, and fixed. Will continue with 1st offense = kick, second offense = ban for combat logging and ghosting. Not one person who has received this on my server has appealed so must be doing something right.
-
That was kind of hard to understand, but did you even read the thread? I'M SUGGESTING THIS IS AN OPTION FOR SOME SERVERS TO USE, not all servers would go this route and you don't have to play on them if you don't want to. That said, we need the OPTION to play on official Sanctuary servers. The fact that several DayZ mods exist like this show there's demand. If you haven't run into the issue of ghosting and hopping yet, you will eventually find it can be completely game-breaking. You say to let him work on "actual problems" yet in my opinion, server hopping and ghosting is one of the largest problems the game currently faces (duping and hacks aside).
-
Worst Alt F4, ghosting, noob clan ever. We can't even have a solid clan war with these asshats because everytime they hear a shot they abort to lobby. Guess we'll keep raping your camps on 1569 till you all grow a pair and fight us...
-
PvP sure is complex, what with the dupeing, server hopping, disconnectings, ghosting, etc. definately the best out there.

In my first 5 gameplay hours of DayZ I became a bandit From the beginning I knew that I would die when I let my guard down The bandit skin didn't help making the paranoia go away either After the bandit skin removal I kept playing this way Never had a problem will "Kill on Sight" If you screw up someone will take advantage of it and kill you, deal with it But one thing: Uhm....yeah Ghosting to flanking position is abuse too btw

I really like this mod but i don´t see Dayz making it as a succesful "stand alone" at this stage. Now everyone downloads it because it´s free. Paying customers are a different matter. For a game to be commercially succesful there needs to be a proper game. The big free-for-all deathmatch just won´t do it. There needs to be other things to do besides just surviving or killing other players. There needs to be continuity of some sort and there needs to be a "end game". Rocket should have a look at Fallen Earth and games like it and take whats useful into Dayz like missions, safe cities, crafting, trade, vaults, pvp-/pvpfree zones (yes pvpfree zones.. noone likes to be killed by an asshole with a thermalscope or AS50/M107 camping the beaches in the first 5 seconds of the game he just bought). There is a gazillion bugs and exploits to be fixed too. Alt+f4 disconnects in a pvp-fight, ghosting, maphacks, wallhacks, duping, killer trees/doors, the doors/walls/barbed wire not functioning like doors/walls/barbed wire against zombies, breaking your legs for nothing, the horrible inventory system (drag and drop with nothing disappearing into thin air... please) etc. I get the idea behind Dayz but it´s not a commercially feasible game at this stage.

So what is being done about teleporters?
thisisbleep replied to Laugher's topic in New Player Discussion
Cheating stems from the core Arma II game, so it is down to BIS to deal with blocking scripts but I doubt they will be effective at it because they have already had years to fix this. As for other exploits such as running from combat, ghosting etc. there are things which Rocket will include to stop or punish this, but you need to be patient. Alpha mod = not complete and still needs features to be added. -

Let me ask you a slightly different question in return: What would you accept as "proof"? I mean if I see someone spawning something and therefor ban him from my server that is - and I think we all agree on that - right, but not a bullet proof reason if he complains about the ban. I actually dont know if there would be any hard evidence in the server logs about what just happened on the server...and I kinda doubt it, because if its easily spotted by simple server logging BE would've noticed it too (well...probably I guess). I'm not running around recording everything, and in case I'd have some recording tool ready to use and start recording after some "non normal" event happened there is still a chance that I wont be able to witness anything else - either because he teleports, kills me, or something else. So basically, yes your assumption is right, though some hints about what would be accepted as proof would be nice. Otherwise it would be just the admins word against that of the accused player. **Edit: I just wondered if it would be possible for DayZ to recognize a passworded or locked server and either disable loot spawn on the server, or reject saving changes to objects from that server on the hive as long as the password/lock is on that server. As I've stated I would've liked to do that during the server configuration process, and I know that for example Vilayer detects passworded/locked servers right away and shuts them down...so my guess it that it should be possible to do something engine wise to allow locking/passwording without letting someone take advantage of it item wise. And as a second - kinda optional - thing: I guess you are also aware of the problem with broken tents - either the ones not working, or the ones getting bugged at some point in time. It would be nice to be able to swipe the server, getting rid of those tents permanently (as well as the always respawning barbed wire, even after you've removed them with a toolbox). I have to admit I'm not entirely sure about the despawn mechanics as there have been some changes to them without any note in the changelog. But being able to trigger some sort of cleanup to get the server straight after someone messed around with duped tents/wires/tank traps would be nice as well. What I'd like to do, or rather be allowed to do - resembled in rules - would be to: 1) Ban players for 1-4 days if they use ghosting (and by ghosting I mean real position change during a firefight, like moving 300 meters on the top of a building on another server, not 30 meters because of a small lag or something). 2) Ban players that are obviously hacking (spawn items, call in airstrikes, teleport themselves or other players, etc) permanently from my server 3) Password the server after setup/during configuration changes (e.g. put a password up for 15-30 mins) 4) Trigger a cleanup to remove broken/bugged items -
After being teleported yesterday, and witnessing it happening twice more while sitting in the lobby, getting admin access, reviewing the log files, and finally understanding how difficult it is for admins to maintain their own servers. I'm joining the suggestion crowd even though I know that this post would get more views in the general or cheat forum areas. 1. Please give admins the ability to set up "XXX was killed by XXX" messages on the servers. It would make our job a lot easier to detect cheaters and teleporters. It would make it clear to players that they are being killed by a cheater, not admin abuse. It would allow players to report cheaters, by name, to the admins If the messages were added to the logs, it would also make tracking down reported incidents easier. 2. Arma 2 is rated PEGI 16+ we can't prevent players below that age from getting the game, but server suppliers should request proof of age before renting servers to them. It won't stop admin abuse, but it would reduce it. 3. You should spawn on the coast every time you join a new server but you don't lose your gear. It would stop ghosting and server hopping for advantage. It would prevent players from preparing raids on another server and spawning directly into an enemy camp bypassing all defences. It would prevent snipers from spawning onto mountain tops and buildings to PK and then server hopping to repeat. It would encourage players to form communities and learn to play with other players who have made that server their home and it wouldn't have any effect on lone wolves either. It might affect squads that server hop together, but in reality, how hard is it for an experienced player to meet up with their buddies again? It would prevent combat logging and sitting in the lobby while a squadmate comes to heal you. It would prevent combat logging to another server to self-heal, and then logging back in to continue the fight. 4. Set up tents so that they autosave every time an item is placed/removed from them. It would reduce duping by a huge amount. When a game mechanic exists that allows players to dupe accidentally, not intentionally, there is a huge problem. It would prevent false accusations of cheating. 5. Bind one tent to one profile per server. Allow that profile to dismantle that tent and replace it, even after death. It would prevent tent cities due to duping exploits. It would promote teamwork or encourage betrayal to order to set up a camp! As is, one tent can be used to create an infinite number of tents simply by placing and replacing it. There is nothing to stop a player having one tent on multiple servers. 6. Reduce the storage capacity of tents. At the moment, a single tent is able to store 10 weapons/tools, 5 (full) backbacks, and 50 items. It doesn't leave a lot of room for sleeping. It would reduce hoarding. 7. Make tents more functional. Sitting near a tent should have the same effect as sitting by a campfire at night. (sitting in a tent is not safe if you value your bones). Logging off beside your tent when on low blood and then logging back in the next day, should have reduce/repair damage such as blood loss.

He's an asshole for ghosting to get an advantage. You're an idiot for banning a player with server hopping as an excuse. You as an admin know it's not on the list of bannable excuses. If he was hacking, that's one thing and I've banned hackers(verified the scripts) on more than one occasion. I've also kicked ALT F4ers and shamed them in global chat afterwards which usually made them leave the server on their own. I banned ONE time for someone ghosting, and I took the ban off a couple of hours later. Sort of as a "time out". And to prevent him from using that exploit to get an unfair advantage on my squad at the time. Myself, and two others of my squad were killed on our own server today by people server hopping in behind us. We were pissed. And one of them didn't leave the server right away when he saw that he had killed an [HGC] member. I called him out on global, told everyone to look out for him because he's a server hopper, and he promptly left the server and never returned. People don't need to be banned to stay off the server. Once they see their name called out in the open for 25+ other people to see, they tend to shy away :P. Either way, OP: His server isn't going to be "blacklisted". What happened here is a classic case of misunderstanding server operation combined with some buggyness of the game's alpha state. Shit happens.
