    DayZ Standalone Suggestion List

    Items should spawn inside containers (cupboards, chests, vehicles, wrecks, drawers, lockers etc etc) and only actually spawn when a player accesses the containers, so would cut down on lag quite alot cos a whole area of spawns wouldnt be there anymore.

Edit: Though it may seem like I enjoy being some sort of jovial sarcastic sunnofvabitch, I take DayZ pretty seriously. I do not enjoy messing with the zombies, the ramping of vehicles in the air resulting in inevitable brain damage and explosion of the vehicle, or otherwise the shooting of another teammate even with the access of immediate medical care. Do any of that and it will earn you a bullet to the everywhere and you will be sent packing. So don't worry 'bout that stuff.

Now you didn't say Chernarus, so if you like Namalsk, I have a thread going. I don't think Skype will suit our needs and TeamSpeak is much better, or vent, though I do have skype until that can be set up (cjdow22). It's nothing too demanding, and it's pretty casual. A basic overview of the rules is use common sense, act with maturity and dignity, and don't f*** up (decide to take the vehicle randomly and crash it into a tree for no reason, ect). It's not going to be a big group like Bishon's, just 2-4 and maybe 5 (it depends how it progresses, I'd actually like just 3, me included) and we're going to kick Namalsk's ass. I really hope I see you there. Edit: Been playing DayZ for a few months now! I've done everything but repair and pilot a heli, a few of the vehicles, and kill a player. But hey, never much got the chance to kill....

    Build 1.7.4.4 Rolling Update

    Hurrah!!! At last devs remove L85 and .50 Cal, but add streetlights in cities, dogs and other useless trash!!! Pretty strange way of thinking, because L85 is nothing more but spotter tool. Try to think (i mean it) by yourself. You remove L85 and there will be no more nighttime evil thermal snipers on the hill!!! Good. But then you ask streetlight in cities, barking dogs, and anyone with eyes, ears and gun still can shoot you directly in your ass (or chop you in the ass with Mighty Axe). Without any thermal sights. Really, how could you know, was your killer armed with L85 or maybe another far more accurate 5.56mm rifle? Most L85 hacked? Are you serious? I'm asking because i'm personally found lots of them at helicrashes. Dont even bother to count how many times, but far more than 20. Remove .50 cal cause they way to good for CQB (and hacked too)? .50 is good for CQB ONLY on crosshair enabled pussy servers. You play in a game about SURVIVAL. So just stop crying and play in hardcore without crosshair, 3d person, map markings, waypoints and you will be really enjoed by finding helicrash with rare hardware. This will bring some sense into your pointless running on Chernarus fields and improve your perception, intuition and tactical skills. If devs still will pay attention to "this gun is OP - we must ban it" cries, there will be no DayZ with survival but just noobs foot (cars cause some peoples cry "i can't find a car, most cars r hacked and OP and must be banned") excursions into abandoned country, or just a sitting and in cafe All changes needed for hi-tech equipment is only make it depends on powersource. Place batteries for equipment in civilian buildings or charge hi-tech piece from vehicles or plain powergens. So there will be no "from restart to restart powered" nighttime NVG or thermal mode L85. It will be enough to make hitech guys feel uncomfortable on constant spotting of NWAF, Stary Sobor or whatever.

    My only goal is to Survive... ;) Just kidding. I will head straight to the "empty" areas of the current map to check out the new areas.. i can't wait to see Chernarus Plus! :) I'm also looking forward to playing with the new vehicles, but the very first thing I will do is open my inventory so I can see the new interface. After that, I will look for some zeds to agro and finally find a nice out of the way place to call home. (camp) My god, I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to getting a game that I'm basically already playing. :P

    I think you could argue that stuff like the vehicles and construction, especially, is pretty core to the experience, given how drastically it will change the experience. Especially the construction aspect. I'd wager, at least, that it's more of a core mechanic than diseases, or say, dogs. You are correct, though, about making mistakes. I'm not here to say play it safe the whole time, because if you did that, DayZ wouldn't exist. However, there is a lot of room to look at mistakes developers have made in the past, with other games. Hell, you can even look at the issues people have with DayZ to see this. Particularly, what people really, truly dislike is overly complicated systems that maintain too many variables. The disease system you have suggested, at least in my eyes, falls under that category. Weapons degrading, okay, that might be more my own issue with a system than something I think won't work, because I'm sure you can implement it in a way that not only makes sense but isn't too cumbersome throughout gameplay. I get it is all something that we all can't know how it will work until it is implemented. Just keep in mind, that while the game is about survival, adding in too many elements regarding survival will effectively create more annoyance than drive, and will potentially alienate the majority of the player base. In any case, I'll be buying your game and providing all the feedback I can for it, because I want it to succeed probably more than you do :P quick edit. of course, the absolute best possible compromise is to give us quite a bit of control over our servers (private hive, of course) to provide the playstyle we would prefer. say, remove diseases and weapons degrading, if that's not our thing. i'm not too sure on your plans for allowing us to customize our private servers, but the more power you provide us, the better we can tailor our experiences in the game, and the more we can get out of it in the long run.
  9. He was giving vehicles to different players. And teleporting them to different places. I happen to enter the bus thinking that he found the bus on his own. When he teleported to a field there was another person driving a URAL. I ejected from the bus to run for my life, only to eject and the wrong area, where i was mowed over by the URAL.

    I don't think we're dumb, but unless we actively seek to push the boundaries and make mistakes, we're not going to break new territory and move from being an interesting concept to a great game. This means we need to be prepared to make mistakes. Will diseases work well? Will the new inventory system be better? Will weapon/clothing degradation be a worthwhile feature or just annoying? I don't know, and I don't think anyone does. That's why we do them, because they're interesting concepts. We try them, we see what works. Construction + Vehicles require huge amounts of programmer time. Diseases - the required functionality is entirely already in game therefore it simply requires some designer time. Things are done in order mainly because of the workload they represent. Construction + Vehicle changes represent entirely new mechanics that aren't core the experience. Inventory + weapon customization/degradation + clothing + item spawning are all core mechanics that have been entirely reworked from the ground up ... they are CORE mechanics - so that is where we start. DayZ development will continue till at least this time next year. As I said in the tumblr post, this is merely the end of the beginning.

    My personal opinion is that it's a tad early to start getting worried about a concept (disease) that is at a very early stage in the thought process. The key to getting anything right in DayZ will be balance. OP - It sounds like you think these ideas are are going to be introduced at the expense of others. Quote: "OH THE DAYS WHEN ROCKET WOULD TALK ABOUT COOLER BASE BUILDING AND BEEFING UP VEHICLES" - He was discussing the amount of work they've been doing with vehicle customization very recently on these forum's and base building is possibly one of his most discussed subjects and one of the main things he intends to spend a lot of time on. We'll only know how it's all going to pan out once we get to play it but nothing I've read about the development process so far makes me worried at all.
  13. Question: If diseases can contaminate gear, can they also contaminate vehicles? And there does need to be some kind of gear to protect you from certain diseases maybe even a rare as hell fully encapsulating chemical protection suit, I've seen an OPCH-70 (Czech) suit which looks pretty sick. Also, as another threat, if the zombies, bandits and diseases aren't bad enough extreme weather conditions would be cool, e.g. extreme winds, you'd struggle to walk, it would pull at your vehicle and depending on which kind, like a bus, maybe tip it, can blow over zombies and trees and if trees fell on zombies, players, vehicles, camps etc could be destroyed and block roads. Combine the winds with rain it'd make a flu/cold/hypothermia a bigger risk, greatly reducing visibilty, maybe add windscreen wipers to cars? And the game is set in Russia which can get pretty snowy. From this you'd get Chilblains, Frostbite, Frostnip, Trench foot, etc.

    Your concerns are going on the basis that they are focusing on Diseases and Weapon degrading in place of improved vehicles and base building, which is untrue. Think of it as they are working on Diseases and Weapon degrading in addition to improved vehicles and base building. I would assume that you either can't repair weapons and have to find a replacement, or you would have to find weapon parts to fix your weapon, otherwise you simply can't repair a primary without a good backpack to carry them in, because of how much space they take.

VIRULENT DISEASES? this is a pretty general suggestion, and i know it's 'their' game and all... ... but honestly this has me worried for standalone, and i'll more than likely be playing mods of the standalone, or just mods for arma 3 :\ I think the DayZ Dev team should take a look at youtube and see what makes DayZ so special and popular. OH THE DAYS WHEN ROCKET WOULD TALK OF COOLER BASE BUILDING, AND BEEFING UP THE VEHICLES. Diseases? I mean honestly, that's a big focus? We're talking about a zombie apocalypse here. Now I have to worry or not whether I can cook my food with adequate heat? Well, I guess I should definitely consider cutting back on all the Coke/Pepsi I drink in game, because that obviously isn't going to hydrate me... surely if I keep this sugar diet up I'll be too fat to run from the zombies. Weapon degradation goes down a bit easier than a plethora of disease. I mean, it makes sense... but it'd be pretty cool if there was a bit more modular system with the weapons. I could see this if they were all, "K GUYS, THESE ARE THE GUNS IN DAYZ. DEAL." I love the guns in DayZ. It's a good balance. You can do damage with anything. My homie DP pops people outta choppas with a mak. It's all in how you use it ;D Hard to say without it getting to be too much of a headache, but would repairing guns be like, 5% health akm + 10% health akm = 15% akm? Still, finding nothing but tin cans is pretty depressing. Finding broken guns? D: I think having to find ammo is bad enough. I would actually be down for weapon degradation if the melee system was sorted better, without having to learn it's nuances(ie stand two perfect ft. away from target to hit it). JUST A COUPLE OF MY THOUGHTS. YOU KNOW.

Currently, the server is only used by a view people and it would be more fun, if there were more than only 3 Players at once! If you are new on the server, we'll help you wit a view supplies and light armory as long as you don't show hostage activities! We have a base with a view vehicles, which you can use, if you want to join our small group of survivors!     Performance idea

    Making all game logic run server side has already been confirmed: http://dayzdev.tumbl...y-it-is-it-isnt This will not only increase client performance but eliminate script-cheats like teleporting all players, turning players into goats, spawn of weapons, vehicles etc. and probably make stuff like fixing duplication glitches etc a LOT easier. One thing i really hope for is that the team considers not sending vehicle/tent/player position unless the player is within a certain range of the object, simply to prevent ESP hacks totally! When a buddy of mine started using ESP hacks, the game was really ruined for me and i haven't really played since, because: A. Surviving is LAME if you know where all players / vehicles are located B. It was obvious that eventhough I played on dayzRP a self-proclaimed no cheat private hive, there were ESP hackers everywhere.
  19. Hey man! Maybe the BSM server may do the job for you? It's a good server, excellent ping for UK players and European players. I'm play all weekend, and it seems they've got a pretty cool community.   20. Hi Pawlzz, the way I've been working it out is to look in the server description. The private hives seem to have the words Private Hive and Chernarus in the description. Where as the official servers don't. Also, the mission tends to be dayz on official hives and on private ones it's dayz-chernarus. You can't transfer items across from one hive to another. So that means not between official hive servers and a private hive servers, nor between different hives. There are benefits to official servers and private servers. You can't guarantee that the private hive admins will always be adults, let alone be fair and just. But they are much less prone to scripter kiddies. That said, like you, I've never really had a problem with them. If you like an even playing ground then that's the official servers. The whole point of private hives is they are free to do what they like in some ways. So they can add more vehicles, for example. :thumbsup:
  21. If it's the red chain and it shows up when someone is looting an item or driving a vehicle it is likely database related. The new database server has been online since yesterday but we haven't had any time to start porting things over to it because of the holidays and DayZ 1.7.4.4 release. I'm going to be busy tomorrow and Saturday so we will likely do the migration on Sunday. I just made a couple tweaks that may help with the current database server though. I wasn't aware of any save issues Robaroo. If you're talking about the save button on vehicles and tents it has been removed in 1.7.4.4

    Has anyone been able to get the Mi-17_DZ to spawn?? I have all the other new vehicles spawned but this new chopper won't. :blush: Has anyone actually seen one on Chernarus anywhere in-game on ANY server??
