I can't for the life of me understand why nobody has posed the question... "Why would you want to be friendly to begin with?" At the current stage of the game the only challenge you will ever face is when fighting other players. Killing zombies is a no-brainer. (pun indeed intended) Finding loot is only good for what exactly? You are farming gear to do what? You find and fix a vehicle so you can move about quickly but what is the purpose of moving about if all you do all day is kill zombies and look for gear? Gear that you can find pretty much everywhere? Sure, you won't come across many heli crash sites without a vehicle of some sort. You won't be able to stack up on good gear without a camp someplace or at least a vehicle or two... BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT ANY GEAR TO BEGIN WITH... Considering you will rarely if ever use it? The best way to be friendly is to not have any gear at all besides maybe a hatchet to kill zombies with. That is the safest way for whomever you come across to know you are not a direct threat to them. You clearly don't need a backpack if you intend to be friendly. All you need is the hatchet and some food. Nope, the mere existence of "friendly" is totally alien to me. Either you are with my group (IRL friends) or you are a target, simple as that. Trust no one and kill anyone who is a direct threat to you (they carry a weapon of any kind) and you will find that this game has a lot to offer to you. I started out being a "mr nice guy" and wanted to create a base of some sort, have lots of vehicles and eventually a helicopter. I spent hours upon hours searching for vehicle parts and whatnot, at one point i had 5 vehicles tucked away in various locations on the map. I had an AS50 and M14 AIM, a coyote backpack, NVG, GPS and all that jizz. TO WHAT END? One little mistake and you where set back several hours of painstaking gear farming. As it is now, unless i carry something of any real worth like a DMR, AS50, M107 etc etc i just roam the two big cities looking for someones head to pop with whatever weapon i happen to come across. If i die i just make my way back to Cherno or Elektro, find any weapon and go hunting for players. Take their weapon(s) if better and repeat til i have something resembling good gear. Then i move out occasionally to hunt the "elite" players who roam the "big spawns" for gear. The one thing most players don't know about DayZ is you don't really need to leave Cherno or Elektro to find good military gear. All you have to do is clean out the military loot spawn points and wait 10 minutes. Come back and find your upgrades right there. If someone happens to "steal" your loot you just pop his head or die. At least you have now saved yourself the trip to the bloody NWA and all the boredom and time it takes to make said trip. And there is nothing as exciting as being smack bang in the middle of Elektro and having 5-7 random people all running around looking for you because you killed them or their freshly spawned friend. Why waste your time doing anything but look for a weapon and go hunt other players? Sure, you can set a limit so you only hunt the "bad guys", that's quite alright with me. But in the end, this is nothing more than a free for all deathmatch with zombies as a nuisance.

Hello, I recently made a new DayZ server It is brandnew so if you join quickly you can find a lot of vehicles. Me (the admin) is on right now and I am looking for staff. You can play PC games on the "big screen" too. A TV is just a monitor with a different interface. It has a resolution (most common to date being 1920x1080, namely Full HD) and usually is connected through a HDMI connection to various devices, the PC has a lot of different connections. Most common one being DVI-D but in close second has HDMI or utilizes DVI-D -> HDMI adapters to connect with HDMI devices or vice versa. And as with everything else when it comes to PC's, they have support for ALL controllers, be it XBOX of PS3 controllers and their predecessors. They all share the same interface these days, USB or Universal Serial Bus. As does many peripheral devices share that same interface (USB) with a few variations on the device end in terms of connector size and shape to allow slim devices such as mobile phones to stay... slim! As far as income "so better games and addons can be developed" is concerned... The best games of all times where developed with small emphasis on income. One of the first all time great games ever released, Tetris, was made without a single thought of making a single dime. It's only after it became such a huge hit that people started talking about money. Minecraft was made with that same philosophy, money was not the goal in the Alpha stage. It was merely a interesting thing for Marcus "notch" Persson to make after Infiniminer was scrapped. It then grew from a past time development "fun deal" into a full time job so Notch started charging money ($10 per person) so he could focus on the game full time and still pay bills. Little did he know it would grow to be one of the most successful indie titles of all time, making him a multimillionaire in the process. The only reasons i can see to porting it to console is one of two: 1. Make money releasing to the biggest, stupidest market in gaming of all time. 2. Sharing your game with the less fortunate who only have access to a console. (Which in the case of DayZ, just isn't the case... We are talking about educational stuff here or free to play stuff really.) In any case, more money does not equal a better game. If that was to be true then Call of Duty: Modern warfare 3 would be the best game of all time. It may be one of the best selling games but it sure as hell isn't a good game. It purely lives on the merits of the earlier CoD titles and it's status symbol as one of the most popular shooters around. When you start pouring money into a project it suddenly turns direction from being a good game in it's mechanics, replayability and immersion into a quicktime stop motion game or otherwise too flashy with no real content at all. DayZ started with just Zombies, looting, vehicles and PvP and where has it taken us so far??? NOWHERE! And that is a good thing, that is what makes DayZ such a good game! There is no story, it's YOUR story. There is no plotline. There is no silly cutscenes to divide your immersion, no kill cams, no real reward besides your own personal, emotional gain. You are free to go wherever you want and do whatever you want. YOU are the game. That's why DayZ is so good. Pouring money into that would just add unnecessary fluff to the game. All we need is more sandbox and a less bug ridden game with perhaps higher fidelity visuals with less taxing on our systems. That we can get from a standard development cycle where you pay ~$20-$30 for the game. The devs will get paid WELL for their effort. They don't need to go mainstream to make DayZ SA a good game or improve on it. Money will just ruin it!

No. PVP servers are crap. Bandits I disrespect generally. Servers with a lot of vehicles are also crap. Gets rid of the sense that you are in the apocalypse.

No, the WL was imported from the 80 slot. It should be clear however that this 40 slot server is NOT to replace the 80 slot, this is an additional server that we are hosting. :thumbsup: Soon the 80 slot will be moved on our dedicated box too with extra features and weapons, vehicles etc once everything is confirmed stable :beans:

How about new game modes, such as hardcore where all supply spawns are significantly reduced and player health is reduced, zombies possibly being smarter and so on. On the other hand there would be a game mode where supplies are greatly increased same with vehicles increased also, this game mode would be mostly for fun and pissing about. both these types would exist alongside a 'normal' game type and any others? Would people also consider competitive game modes?

I have a UK based DayZ server. Veteran, always day, 200+ Vehicles, 10+ heli's, 1 Plane. Theres also care packages, and active admins. We have only encountered one hacker so far, I caught him, and banned him. I'm going to be monitoring the server everyday, to prevent hackers and cheaters. The server only went live yesterday, and we are looking for more players.
