UK 1 - DAYZMAD.COM - The Original DayZ Private Server!

The worst thing about this server, is that I play on it. As far as [EC]Peek's post is concerned, it is so full of BS, I dont really know where to start. Lets look at his claim of an Admin being top bandit killer, go check dayzmad.com, you will see it is Astrozombie, and has been for the last month or so, Astrozombie is not a server admin, so false information from Peek there. Do the Admins have god mode on? yes, they do, they even tell everyone on the server that they do, they also wear the skin with the red beret, so everyone can see it is them, and they do not go around playing the game as normal players do, randomly killing people, in fact, they are more likely to pick up new spawns and give them a lift than anything else. Peek's claims about the forum, sure, the forum is moderated taking into account that most of the people that use it, are adults, and that they use adult language. Peek is unhappy about this for one reason, there was a post made by somebody who does not speak English as a first language, so they typed in Russian, and then gave the Google Translate translation of what it was they typed, so Peek (being Polish, and not liking Russians) decided it would be a good idea to take the piss out of the guy for typing in Russian, and was told, in adult language, that if he didnt like it, he didnt have to read it. Peek is also upset because he got caught trying to cheat, by using an SUV to glitch through the walls of a base, while he was trying this, he was blissfully unaware that an admin was actually in the base at the time, and watching him, so he was seen attempting it, was called out on it, and decided to lie, and give the admin abuse about it, so he was banned. The facts are, if you want to play on a private server, where you have plenty of vehicles to find and claim, player bases that you can find, take over and defend, parachute spawns, custom crash sites with custom loot spawns, Admins that actually admin the server, and actively remove cheats and script kiddies, has a good community ( well, its good if you ignore me ;p ) made up of bandits and survivors, then UK1 is a server you want to take for a test drive. -

I finally gave up DayZ because it's stupid to spend a week carefully crawling among zombies and collecting all necessary stuff just to be killed by immortal kiddie who sees everyone at server on a map and teleports to desired player to grab all the hard collected items. It seems that ARMA2 engine itself is ideal environment for hacks/scripts. And the most ridiculous thing is that honest players cannot even see a nickname of cheater killed them. the best of "many" Me and 2 other friends trying to meet up. We are coming from our camp the other guy is at the NE-AF looking for loot (just started on that server) We see a chopper go his direction we tell him to watch out and get out of there, he gets on his atv wants to drive away ... AS50 shoots at him, he drives back into the hangar just waiting then he says he can hear the chopper, after they came close they opening fire on the hangar but dont hit him, he 3rd Persons out of the hanger and sees them coming lower and lower he decides to jump on his atv and try to get away but gets shot by the as50 when he got hit we (me and the other guy) where on the east of kabaninio already, we look out for the chopper if it lands or not a secound later we hear it coming our way, we hide the car and get out. chopper opens fire at the car coming closer every secound, i get my m107 out and just keep running away waiting for the perfect shot the chopper is now over us spraying at the trees we are hidding at, we run into the town hoping to find some good cover as we continue to run through the forest evading his bullets we notice that the chopper is getting slower and slower nearly hovering i tell my friend to get theyr attention while i hide in a bush, he runs out the see him and open fire at him he gets a bit away from me i start to move out into a more open place and hide under a bush my friend gets hit once but he manages to bandage im still just waiting then my friend gets hit by a zombie and breaks his legs, he takes out the zombie and the chopper is coming back as he is using morphine the chopper gets slower and slower i start to open fire 1 hit on the bottom, they are getting faster again as they now know we got the right equipment to take them out another shot this time i hit the door gunner, he falls out of the chopper and hits the ground and 3 more shots to the rotor area, they are going down all of them start to parachute out, i use that moment to run up to my friend and bloodbag him we counted atleast 4 guys parachuting out of the chopper maybe more. now we are moving up to the crash ( in the middle of the city) while getting closer we manage to take out 1 ghillie with what looked like a sniper running over to the forest they now know our location we try to get to the next tree line but somebody opens fire before we get there, we get cover and look my friend spots him and takes him out we both split up, im trying to get on a little elevation to scout over the city my friend stays close to the crash in some trees i see a guy not sure if its him or not at pretty mutch his location he cant confirm if its him or not before i hear shots and him saying oh fuck then the guy falls, i look at the left bottom of the screen......... not his name showing up he says he got hit and saw somebody moving his directiion he is running for other cover to bandage i hear some shots coming my way while im trying to go down to assist him after i get behind cover i hear another gun shooting not at me this time i try to get eyes on but i notice a motor bike on the street wich wasnt there before i warn my friend that 1 or 2 people more are here my friend is still getting shot at but manages to take the guy out without getting hit i am still slowly moveing up to him for another bloodbag as he lost most of his health im not sure if the guy that shot at me earlier is still around looking for me or if he already died now there only is 1 street between is i decide to run over it, get shot and hit i run over to my friend and bloodbag him while he is bandaging me i then just try to get away from him so they cant take us both out at once while im running my friend notices a guy aiming the direction im going he shoots him and we notice its one of the guys that died already we both think that the motor bike has to be his then we decide to head into the east part of the city because we didnt check there before as i am going around a corner my friend tells me to be carefull... but too late im falling to the ground already still not dead i hear him shooting, he says he got him and that hes running for me half the way i die and he turns around to get cover again and then just waits... but nothing happens me and the other friend that got shot on the airfield are driving up to the city to get some gear of those guys but we dont think we will make it because the server announced restart already my friend manages to grab a m14 and a backpack while im still searching for another body the server restarts that was it little back story: the guys we where fighting where the admins of the server wich are pretty big assholes just flying around in theyr chopper shooting everything up just like the suv we found on the first day on that server we took 3 more of theyr choppers out that week and only lost 1 fight we then quit playing on that server because we thought that they are abusing admin rights why did we think this? found our big camp (nothing special) find another car wich has tons of loot in it and was in the most awesome hidding spot i ever saw they also keep running into us when we are playing and alot of them are on always have choppers and the day we quit they found 3 more vehicles full of gear very well hidden at locations FAR from each other in just a few hours server is called something with dead horse with party hat also fun fact: they always had the better gear then us and always showed up with WAY more people we 4 at max them between 5-7 most of the time and once even 9 of them edit: fuck me i just noticed how long this is -

I'm running a Panthera server at the moment, keep at it mate, it takes time for servers to populate. I've had the server up for about 3 weeks now and it's the busiest Panthera server 90% of the time. Offer something different to the players. I've added custom bases to the map in various places, all possible vehicles that we're able to use without rmod and we have custom loot in hidden tents around the maps for all the bambi's to hunt and play with. -

My most recent experience with this was on a private hive, I really dont remember which one but it was a chernarus server with some custom buildings and vehicles. So a friend of mine and I found a Bi-Plane at the NE airfield and decided to troll cherno with it. So I fly over to cherno and start doing barrel rolls and loops and all the things you shouldn't do at low altitude in an airplane if you have any desire to continue living. Sure enough after our first pass we start taking incoming fire. This had very little effect on us as I crashed while doing a barrel roll over town and managed to kill us both with out any help from the people who had decided to fire at us. So we both re-spawn miraculously we both get a cherno spawn, run over to the crash and grab our gear whilst under heavy sniper fire. This is when I realized that these snipers must be working in some sort of weird click or at least with an agreement not to shoot each other. I know this because while cowering behind the plane wreck I was able to spot two of them and could clearly see that they had line of sight on each other. any way. We run from our wrecked plane to the hill that runs along side the road that leads into cherno from the west. Almost immediately the third sniper begins to shoot at me from what I reckoned at the time was fairly close range. I dive for cover behind a near by tree. My mate is east of me and hasn't been fired on yet. As I peak around the tree I spot the wookie just up the hill from me. I guide my mate in to flank him as the wookie has me rather pinned down at this point. As my buddy approaches him the wookie turns and begins to fire at him. I leap out from behind the tree and send a healthy burst from my ak at him. This kills the poor wookie but apparently enrages a near by friend of his. A second wookie blows my buddy's head off with a dmr from the road at the top of the hill. I creep up the hill moving from tree to tree until I see his head peaking out from some cover at the top of the hill. We both lean over, staring at each other in abject horror for a split second. Knowing that what comes next will not be a pleasant experience for one of us. I fire first, a clean sequence of shots hits him before his poor wookie mind can process what needs to be done. He is dead now and it doesn't mater anyway. So at this point I am sighing with relief as I have just survived two very close calls. I creep up the rest of the hill to check their bodies and, yes you guessed it a third person begins to fire at me with an m4. He hits me twice and i run for the trees north of the road. I bandage and begin looking for him through the trees and brush in front of me. Low and behold this guy is marching across the same field I ran through and is almost straight lining my position. at this point I'm saying to my self "Ok these guys are just stupid." I wait until he lines up with me and I fire. He must have been on some low blood because it only took two shots to put him down. This set of events also gave me a new and healthy respect for the cobra as a close to medium range weapon. It did everything I wanted it to and I'm sure with almost any other gun I would have had a harder time. -

Recruit/Regular/Veteran/Expert difficulties

Here's my 2 cents... First you have to remember there are unofficial and official servers, and servers can use private hives. Unofficial servers can have pretty much any settings they wish at any difficulty level, meaning the recruit, normal, veteran, et al; settings mean nothing as far as features turned on or off. You can be on one Recruit server and have tags, a map to start, crosshairs, you name it. But on the next one you may find yourself spawn with nothing but a flashlight, no map, no tags, no crosshairs, nothing really. This can suck but on the plus side you could end up with a server configured to spawn at a higher rate, or with more vehicles, or even a modified loadout to start with. On official, I would assume that they are more standardized and limited in things they can change, like most official servers in other games. Most likely official servers will have a more rigid spawn rate, or limit numbers and types of items to certain places, and so on. As well as only certain maps and mods allowed. Generally speaking, servers marked veteran will be harder than those marked recruit in some noticeable way. Be it features turned on (crosshairs, map marker, 3rd person, tags) or spawn rates or items in a given loadout, or even spawn rate of zombies. Also, in my experience I think marking a server difficulty level on an unofficial server is trying to attract the kind of players they want on that server. A new player will usually avoid servers marked veteran, until they get the idea of the game down at least. And more seasoned players will usually opt for veteran over recruit. A good rule of thumb for me has been; if its unofficial the difficulty level claimed on the server list means what skill level of player they are trying to attract, and not necessarily the difficulty of the game they are running. On official it usually means the settings are going by some sort of official standard. Perhaps maybe the only thing they changed in the CFG settings (other than specifics for their system) is the setting for recruit, veteran, or normal. -

Looking for a special server

Our server is also a Taviana server. While it does not have 50-100 helicopters, it certainly feels like it - finding wings is rarely described as difficult. We currently have 359 vehicles total in database, and this is actually very low compared to what it usually is(must have been some intense combat lately). We have custom weapons introduced via vehicle inventory, but this mechanic will soon be changed to wrecks and care packages(which are currently more or less ignored due to high probability of civilian loot). We also have armed vehicles such as the UAZ with DShKM. This vehicle specifically provides a very hostile environment for heli pilots; heli pilots have noted that their flying skills have never been so challenged in DayZ. Beanz! With the forests being quite thinly spread out in most points there are far fewer decent hiding spots for vehicles that a glance at the map would suggest.

Vehicles can now be air lifted!! at the moment the only chopper that is able to lift vehicles is the big Russian chopper (mi17) all you need to do is hover over the vehicle you wish to lift and scroll mouse wheel. u will see an option to left the vehicle. select it and the vehicle will now be attached to the chopper. to drop a vehicle, scroll the mouse wheel and select drop selected vehicle. be warned that if you drop a vehicle to high it will damage it. Have fun :) -
Difference is the Land Rover is a little Quicker, the BEF is tougher and has more Storage space.... Both are British Military Vehicles. BEF (British Expeditionary Force) tend to have more rugged and hardcore vehicles for driving to silly places. and the Land Rover is a tried and tested vehicle we use from day to day. Basically i prefer the Land Rover for it's pace but the BEF is a tank with 4 rubber wheels...

I agree... I can't tell you how many players think I can just magically spawn them vehicles :\ I also think that is why private hive servers were getting hit harder it seems than public hive servers (I've had both, and the number of hacking related incidents against my private hive have been significantly higher than those of my previous public hive server), people think that because it's not attached to the public hive, it isn't still monitored by BattlEye (which was dead wrong)... Admins that do abuse their rights (by say, turning off BattlEye and using hacks) give a bad image to those that try to be honest and run a legit server... -
Defining the Setting: How atmospheric changes can improve DayZ

Hello everyone, It's a long read but I think the people playing this game have more patience than most! I am a relatively new player to DayZ, I hope you take this to mean that I am coming with it with fresh eyes rather than as a pitiful noob, I also hope I don’t commit any faux pas in regards to what has been said before or what is in development already, as I am sure some of my ideas are in hand already. Rocket has mentioned that he wants to define the narrative of DayZ, what happened to render the world as it is. I believe the key factor in the context of this game is the setting. To define the narrative without building in a linear storytelling experience, the following items need to be strongly defined, once the setting is strongly established then the players’ experiences in this world forms its own narratives (as already is apparent): - Location and year - Time since the outbreak - Response to the outbreak - State of the globe now - Survivors context I believe the key is to build in a cohesive setting. Choose a year, choose a decade and build to that. You could pick 1980 or early 90’s and emphasise the Soviet setting (a setting rarely used in the world of games), you would lose out on some of the more modern toys in terms of ACOG scopes but generate a much stronger atmosphere, think STALKER or Metro 2033 these games paint fabulously bleak soviet-era pictures and still popular in the west. (Also female zombies! We don’t have them probably mentioned already) Currently we are on a fictional Russian Island, set in a vaguely contemporary setting, but there is a mish mash of modern and old fashioned clothing, weaponry and vehicles. We have Russian civilian zombies wearing flat caps and Ushankas but all the military hardware scattered about is US and most of the firearms are US/European also. The native soldier zombies, and scattered miscellaneous corpses and equipment should be Russian, with Russian weaponry and vehicles found at military bases (AK, RPD, DSHk/GAZ, Ural etc.) The time since the outbreak is a crucial factor in establishing the narrative, did the Zombie outbreak happen 10 years ago, is it a year, or two weeks after? The island itself is pretty bleak, it lends itself to it being at least a year, but it’s not in a state of decay that it could be a decade. If it has been a week the dead soldiers and bodies should be relatively fresh, but if it has been a year there should be little remaining of the bodies of the initial military forces engaged with the zombies, skeletal or completely decayed. As the lifecycle of Zombies has been mentioned by Rocket this would also mean that the military Zombies for the most part will be old ones (depending of course on Zombie decay time) The response to the outbreak has to be thought out (this can be done in the background and evidence of it can be uncovered by players if they so choose, diaries, communiques, writing, military maps, something for future development). When the outbreak happened on a large scale what was the response, Chernarus is a backwater of sorts, and so any response there was probably lackadaisical compared to other areas. The local military forces would have mounted some sort of offensive, and there should be evidence of that, meanwhile the International airport could have been the scene of a UN or NATO taskforce (I personally like the idea of it being the UN, the nature of the outbreak not being known and treated as a peacekeeping mission means a varied international response which gives the ability to add a lot of different nations weapons and equipment to the game) One of the things I liked most about World War Z was that the entire world hadn’t completely disappeared, the military was able to eventually hold back and turn the tide on the Zombie menace, Zombies are dangerous to Civilians, but an organized military could probably defeat them. There can be subtle evidence that the military is fighting back behind the scenes, such as helicopters, ambient jets flying over (perhaps the occasional flying AI Aircraft dropping napalm or bombs?) perhaps the occasional artillery strike on areas of heavy zombie concentrations or hearing occasional military radio chatter on military radios could even be coded in. The on-going military operations would also be one source of brand new and high level foreign military equipment for players (a crashed Blackhawk netting some M4 Carbines from a US spec op team, or finding a turned over UN APC with a FN FAL in it) However we have to place this within the global context, how important is Chernarus globally, strategically and to Russia, does it have anything in it worth fighting for, or is it a backwater, neglected for a long time while major Zombie outbreaks have been fought, contained or lost in other more important areas. Messages or news updates on Radio/TV if possible could play (hope is not lost citizens! Survive! Aim for the head!) Now our survivor avatar, This is one I suspect is well under control with the sort of additional customization that Rocket is aiming for, and with gameplay being what it is, any initial identity in what you start with would soon be swept away as you scavenge for equipment and clothing. However when we begin, what is our starting point, are we a citizen of Cheranus? Are we ex-military, are we a ship-wreck survivor? What is the context for us being on the island, when you spawn in, you look pretty well equipped, ammo pouches, a more civilian or random appearance would help (without giving any particular advantage such as camo clothing). As a side note there anyway to have our external appearance change on our clothing? This is probably outside the scope of the engine, but ammo pouches/grenades etc appearing on your body would be a very nice little feature. Perhaps camouflage kits for faces/hands or being able to improvise in some way (find a helmet, use a knife on a tire, take inner tube, apply to helmet, use knife on bushes, apply bushes to helmet, I know a ‘crafting’ system has been mentioned so this sort of thing falls under that scope) In conclusion, the ambience and background of the world needs focus. This I believe can be achieved through a few changes, these changes will affect the gameplay in a positive way, altering how people play and experience the game and give DayZ a greater personal identity rather than a generic Zombie apocalypse setting. If he is a server admin, then no, it's not a "how to script" thread... It's just a general (and honest) server administration question... Understand what a person is asking before making assumptions... This was one of the first mods made to my server, was adding a wider variety of vehicles on the server (to include the police car)... In order to make any modifications to the vehicle tables, you will need access to the MySQL tables (which is available with most of the better private hive server options)... The guide is posted below... http://opendayz.net/...-chernarus.581/ Opendayz forums are an excellent source of information on how to go about modifying your server to suit your tastes and make it a little more unique (but then again, some would argue that with the popularity of modifying servers, that it is not that unique anymore, lol)... Another additional resource is here, because without modifying the pbo to allow banned vehicles, you're restricted to what is currently unbanned... There is still a reasonable number of vehicles that are unbanned, yet not present in the game... Here is a list for that as well (you would add them exactly as you would the police car... In fact, I just took some of the police car spawn points that were included with the above tutorial, and divided them up between all the new cars that I implemented)... http://www.tunngle.n...classname-list/ The list shows what naturally spawns and what doesnt, but isn't banned by the mod (which means, it can be added in the same way the police car is)... Bear in mind though, this list is a little old, some may have been banned since (like the A-10) and it will not spawn, even if you add it in... there is however a way to spawn vehicles by restarting a server on certain private hives such as DayZST however if your using it to help yourself you will get caught and banned. There is nothing worse than admin abuse (i'm looking at you UK1 dayzmad.com) The server i play on has an active admin that will spawn vehicles in random areas and doesnt play the game (the way it should be) didnt read the above post fully i worry about posts like these they really send out the wrong message -

As a private hive admin, no... There is no tools for us to spawn vehicles in game... We can modify the database (if, depending on the private hive server option, we have access to the MySQL database), but most changes there require a restart to the server (only exception is modifying player gear and location, you can change those and have them take effect as long as the player logs out first)... If an "admin" is spawning vehicles in game, then they are using hacks and unless they turned off BattlEye, they will get caught and banned (one of my previous moderators got global banned for this, not spawning vehicles, but using overlays and spawning gear in game)... So to reiterate, no... There is no legit way to dynamically spawn vehicles or gear in game... -
