US 1979 will be closing and replaced with a Private Hive server
Vladivar posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hey folks, We at www.badasswankers.com have had a bunch of fun running our DayZ server [uS 1979] on the Public hive, however scripting/hacking is out of hand and the controls we have are too limiting. We're not done with DayZ though, no way, however we feel that for the enjoyment of everyone on the server, and our own sanity, we will be relocating to our own Private Hive server. US 1979 will be removed in the next day or so, any gear stored on our server that you want to keep should be picked up ASAP. We hope that our regulars will consider joining us on our private hive server. What is a private hive server and what does it mean for people playing on one? A "Hive" is database that contains player character data, your location on the map, your inventory, your health stats and your Zombie/player kill stats. The public hive is run by Rocket and the DayZ development team and is accessed by thousands of servers (like US 1979) which means that you can play on thousands of different servers and your character data will carry across to whichever server you happen to be playing upon. On a Private hive, your character data is saved locally by the server you are playing on, and does not carry across to other servers. This means that whatever you do with your character on our server, your progress for that character will only apply on the BAW server, nowhere else. That dosen't sound that great a deal, why should I stick with your server and limit my choices, the Public hive sounds like a much better idea. The Public hive set-up by the DayZ team was done so with good intentions, and, technically, we find it a really innovative approach to gaming which we would like to see developed further. By playing on our server, you wont be make a definitive, long term choice between BAW and everyone else, just that any progress you make with a character on our server wont show up should you play elsewhere at a later date. The public hive will still be available to you, as will other private hives. The benefits of playing on the BAW private hive are; No Server hoppers - As no-one else will have access to our hive, server hopping will be eliminated No 'Ghosting' - No-one will be able to disconnect mid-battle, join another server, relocate, reconnect to the BAW server, then shoot you in the back. Increased protection from hackers/scripters - By vetting who joins our server before they can even connect, we will be able to better filter out the non-legit players Server Rollback functionality - If hackers/scripters do make it past our vetting process, we will be able to undo any widespread lasting damage they do to the server AND your character. Experienced Server Admins - Our admins have a wealth of game server administration, they have proven over a long period of time to be able to keep their emotions in check and deal with issues objectively when making decisions. You will NOT be kicked or banned for in-game actions against our admins or anyone else, unless we have cast-iron proof you are breaking our rules. Teamspeak 3 server - If you'd like to communicate with other players on the server, find people to play alongside, play with your buddies or need an admin, we offer a 500 slot teamspeak 3 server which you are welcome to join. Our TS3 IP is 206.217.128.50 – If you would like a private channel for you and your friends we can arrange that, just contact one of our admins. BAW server events - We will be hosting DayZ events which we hope will be enjoyable for everyone, details to come! What we are doing here is offering you the chance to play DayZ on a server maintained by an experienced, structured Gaming community that is over six years old and knows how to provide the platform for great gaming experiences. We want a return to the DayZ we all loved before it became overran by hacking scripting douchebags. All types of gameplay will be catered for; Base building, base raiding, banditry, counter-banditry, ambushes, counter ambushes, daytime play, night-time play, clan-wars, solo play. Basically whatever style suits you as long as is does not involve scripting or hacking. Our dedicated, dual quad-core server hosted by Fragnet is located in NYC, so is suitable for Euro players. Okay, it sounds worth a shot, what do I need to do to join in, do I need to become a BAW member? We will be starting an open testing period shortly, we will be tweaking the server configuration for performance and vehicle balance, as well as testing various admin tools and features. We are considering whitelisting the server in the future, if you are interested in our project then all you need do is look for us under BAW on the server browser. To sign up for future whitelisting register on our forums and notify us of your interest in this thread, please include your GUID and steam profile page and we will contact you with further details. BAW membership is not necessary, however, if you come to enjoy our server(s) and the people playing on them, we have an open membership application process. TL;DR - Wanna play on our private hive, open testing up soon, search for BAW in server browser, also we may be whitelisting, register on our forums and notify us of your interest in this thread. -
I get killed by a hacker at least once a day if I play more than 3-4h, but this doesnt annoy me as much as ghosters and all the faggots running around with as50TWS. Today my team went to cherno as I saw a group of 3 guys in ghillies. I took my m24 out and watched what they are doing. One of them dropped his back pack and they then all picked it up, came back and pulled as50TWS out. Just before I could shoot them down all 3 disconnected. I met my team of four in a barn and as we were checking if team TWS is back we saw all the zombies in the fields. We spotted 4 guys in the fields all had as50TWS (this beige scope is too obvious) we started exchaging fire. As soon as I hit the first guy with my m24, alt+f4 ^^ - we dropped 3 of them as we noticed one guy in front of the barn spawning there. He got killed and another guy spawned in the barn (genius) with us. We killed him too and lost 2 guys in the firefight. We thought all right the air is clean we waited around 10 mins for the other guys to come back to us. We checked the dead guys and all had as50TWS (what else) since then we renamed cherno into TWS City. As we left the barn there was people spawning or teleporting all around us, shooting at us taking again 2 guys out. Me and one guy run into another barn to leave the server as one of our team said he's in balota and already being shot at by as50. We run there and shoot a guy under a tree with a AS50TWS again. We checked his name and it was the first guy we shot at the cherno barn firefight. A few minutes later (yes we were expecting his team to spawn behind us) we changed position and saw people spawning in, behind the snipers position around 200m . They were ghosting as every team was we engaged today. That was way more annoying then just being teleported into the sea. You think you are fighting a legit firefight but people just dc & reposition them selfs while others keep you in postion by supressive fire. BTW total kill count of TWS douchebags today was 9 confirmed. There were way more who shot AS50 but we didnt get to loot the bodies so TWS is not conifirmed but I'm 99% sure they had it. oh and the favorite secondary seems to be g36 SD or C or camo and such these days. ps. saw the monky monitor a few times today.....thats a pile of bs too..

I've been playing DayZ for about three months now and for about 95% of that time I've been on the official, public hive. I never experienced the DayZ that some people speak warmly about, before everyone started duping, hacking and killing each other on sight not only most of the time, but all the time. So after having fun but more or less accepting the random deaths via hostile teleportation, finding tents with ghillies, as50'ies, silenced m4 etc. pretty much everywhere it started to get to me. Everywhere I read that the game was "too easy". Well, the game isn't "too easy", the duping and hacking is making a completely different game - and I've just found the holy graal, SE9 and SE10 (zombies.nu). First of all you have to register to get access to the hive. That in and of itself removes a lot of hackers. Second of all, the hive is only running on two servers, meaning ghosting is pretty much nonexistent. Now, I realize that there are lots of private hives like this, but Tansien (who runs SE10 and 9) has improved upon the mod by adding features according to my needs, such as: * No more combat logging = your body stays in game for 30 seconds * No AS50 or L85 = no more noobstation snipers * No item duping = Tansien has made tents work properly (rocket should hire this guy tbqfh) * Weapons do full damage = Rifles are truly deadly, just like IRL, they are no longer nerfed like what was done in one of the beta patches (pistols are still the same) * Vehicles respawn properly = No more hiding the vehicles so no one can use them * Vehicles that are moved outside the map boundries explode etc. etc. This private hive is amazing. And playing on this hive is, bottom line, a completely different, better experience than on the public hive. No more hackers, no more combat logging, no more "everyone has a ghillie and an AS50 and a silenced M4/L85" because duping and tents/vehicles/backpacks is possible. There are some issues though: - Only one server (two iterations) - 54 slots that pretty much always are full - Lots of lag (in spite of great hardware) This can of course be improved upon by donating some cashdough to Tansien so he can improve upon the hive. Head over to his zombies.nu and read more about it, register and try DayZ at its potential.

I feel ya bro. tho if you play well monitored private hives, it will be a lot better. Sadly my last 20 deaths were as I was cleaning a supermarket/office on 1~4 player servers, by an AS50/other rare item. Then I just decided it is time to play private hives. have to say I've never had more fun now that ammo is exactly what you find and nothing more, no AS50s everywhere, no ghillies everywhere, no nvgs/range/gps everywhere, and most importantly, NO HACKERS anywhere. No ghosting. no combat logging, etc. cause if you log, you have to log back in the same spot.

DayZGaming.com's white-listed Private Hive is looking for new recruits (US West, Chernarus)
esaxe replied to nashable's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I've been playing on this server for a few months now, and agree...it's really been quite nice not having to deal with hackers/ghosting/etc. messing with the game experience. Good to see a gaming community like this continuing to grow. -
Hey community, I'm here writing this today because there are allot of very misleading, and hopeless posts of Ramdisking, INI.Tweaks, odd settings and such floating around, and it's my desire to really clear the air for you and help you really understand what is causing performance drops with the Arma 2 OA engine. Yes some of you will know these things already, and for that I say congratulations on being perceptive, but this guide is for those whom may not understand, so please keep your nay-saying to yourself, and add anything you find is truly helpful as well for people to read Step 1: Determine your Drop Cause: Depending on your PC, your drops could be CPU related, or GPU related, with the listed software, you can directly see what is causing the drops, either the CPU, or GPU, or possibly both. So, download EVGA Precision X, along with EVGA Precision X there is a software program in it called Rivatuner On screen display, it displays your FPS and GPU temps on your screen in 3D applications to give indication of frame-rate and GPU temp, this is what we need, but currently it only shows two GPU related stats, so to increase what it displays, we should get Hardware Info http://www.hwinfo.com/, along with monitoring all aspects of your pc, HWinfo also has a handy set of sensors which can display anything from CPU Usage to GPU core load, which are the two things we want on our screen in game, so after you have downloaded HWinfo, and EVGA Precision X(A simple google search should yeild the program). you want to install both, first time run EVGA precision, then run HWinfo and go into the Sensors sub-section on the top of the main screen(Not the smaller one displaying CPU info) after entering the sensor sub-section, click on "Configure". In here there will be a list of possible on screen displays that are compatible with rivatuner, to activate the ones we need (AKA: CPU usage and GPU Core load) we need to simply click the wanted icon and go to the Rivatuner OSD subsection directly under the white selection part, and select "Available and Label". Now close out of configure and click minimize all, this will keep the sensors running instead of closing the program. Now test a 3d aplication(ARMA) and see if the wanted sensors are now displaying. Step 2: Find your problem, wether it is CPU or GPU related, you will be able to tell by the usage In the CPU monitor, bad usage is roughly 62%+ (this indicates the two cores arma 2 oa fully utilizes are fully taxed) and for a GPU bottleneck, its much simpler, simply monitor it and if it hits 99% usage at any point, your FPS will start to drop to lower core usage to a stable level(thus how FPS may drop in combat more then walking around) Point being, 99% GPU core load is the bad here and you want to keep under it. Step 3: Now that you've found your problem here are some fixes that definetly will work, and i'll also give closure on what INI tweaks work, wether they are worth it or not, etc. So to start, a Breif description on what the ingame settings effect in terms of CPU or GPU. View distance: GPU with slight CPU (to explain, ARMA has everything going on in the map always calculated on the CPU, but view distance directly changes at which point(when you are traveling) will the CPU tell your GPU to start to render the 3d display AKA the game, so lowering this will indeed lower your CPU usage from a small margin, I recommend a personal level of 1200, its not too short, its not too far, but remember increasing it will not effect your game as much as people hype up. Texture level: This is a direct hit on GPU with Heavy hits on CPU at LOW or NORMAL levels(as arma apparently wants to render content with the CPU) and a very minimal CPU hit on very high, i recommend High or very high, and not to budge off of it unless your GPU is the weaker component of your PC and your CPU is a sandy bridge i5/i7 at 4ghz....lol but seriously, HIGH or very high unless you want your CPU fake rendering content. Video memory: Default and always default, i'm not quite sure why there are options to lower or raise it, maybe you want to do a stress test while playing arma or something and want to set some video memory aside for it because you want to set your pc on fire, IDK Arma developers, this is a weird thing. Anistropic filtering: This has very very minimal CPU hits, and very minimal GPU hits, only lower it off of Very High if your GPU is still 99% usage, this really isnt the most important of settings... Anti-Aliasing: I'm uncertain of how, but this is quite the bit CPU hit, and also, Quite a bit GPU hit, but actually seems to hit the cpu harder? anyways keep this off, or keep this HIGH and up, Do not ever use normal or low, these seem to hit CPU even harder somehow and yeild way worse visuals. ATOC: If your going to use ATOC always keep this All trees and plants, dont bother putting it to something else, or it kind of defeats the purpose, this is a looks over performance setting, and is Virtually only a GPU hit, most modern cards can handle this just fine, so only ever turn it off if your not using anti aliasing. , Terrain Detail: This is a direct CPU hit with minimal GPU hit, keep this to your preferrence, with low being the lowest setting as most servers will use low and restrict very low due to possible cheating (AKA no grass for you but grass for them, kind of renders a gillie suit useless lol) Object Detail: The biggest(or possibly tied with AA) hit to your CPU usage in the entire game, keep this LOW or VERY LOW, if you venture into the normal to very high reigon, you better have a fast sandy bridge or be locked at 30fps.. Shadow Quality: keep this HIGH or very HIGH, normal is rendered by CPU so is a CPU HIT, but high and very high are GPU ONLY with minimal CPU so logically speaking, keep this high or V high or off for performance. HDR: Rumored to change the bit of the HDR, i see this as a useless setting, and always leave it normal, leave it normal or somehow it will hit your GPU like a truck. Post processing: First off i recommend okt_NoBlur(armaholic it) it seems to work with Dayz and is a must for any bloom or occlusion fan, basically speaking the mod lowers the blur effects and depth of feild overblurring and is a must, it doesnt really change GPU hit, but it changes visual heavily, so hit speaking. this is a direct GPU hit with minimal CPU at higher then normal, Low adds bloom, motion blur, normal adds small occlusion, ambient occlusion, Depth of feild, and high and V high increase these things to look better, keep it low at minimum, or keep it off if you really cant stand it, (a pro-tip is to increase brightness when using low, it will replicate unreal engine like lighting on the HDR and changes arma lighting in general) Vsync: I recommend off unless your a fan of imput lag, i personally use Rivatuner Frame rate limiter for arma to keep it smooth, me personally i dont like being 60 outside of cherno and then 45 in cherno, so i keep it 45 and adjust to squeeze out best visuals at that frame-rate, to enable this, click the wrench icon in Rivatuner, in the bottom of the configure screen you should see fps limiter, pick and enjoy your Imput lag less frame rate. Lastly 3D resolution: keep this native or higher to produce supersampling, this is a huge GPU hit when mixed with post processing (PP must blur more pixels) do not lower this, it doesnt improve performance and if you have to, sorry my friend your pc cannot handle arma 2 lastly ini tweaks, i personally dont recommend doing any of these, nor do i condone changing nividia settings(ATI too) to anything other then stock, but the only justifyable tweak is the GPU Max frames ahead to 1 tweak, as i see this MAY lower GPU usuage, but ive never tested it, honestly if you need to ini tweak, your PC is unfortunatley too weak. FXAA SMAA: I personally use FXXA high sharp filter, to improve clarity with very high post processing, it acts as more anistropic filtering when coupled with very high AA, i dont recommend it as a standalone setting, i recommend FXXA high, as low seems to hit the same, all these changes are purely GPU related, and should only be turned off when in dire need of GPU usage freeing. post processing off My recomended settings, based on Hardware: Dual core, low end video card, 2g ram : View distance 500 Texture quality high video memory default Anistropic filtering: off Anti aliasing and ATOC Off terrain detail low object detail lowest shadows off HDR normal FXAA SMAA: high FXXA or off NATIVE RESOLUTION Lock it at 30 in rivatuner, yes you will get drops at 30, you will have to suffer it For anyone with a higher rig, I have absolute faith you can use the information I have provided to tweak your game to your desired settings and performance, anyone with any other tips, please feel free to post, for your information, I've tested all these aspects of the game by means of hardware monitoring, and for personal referrence my rig is: AMD FX-4100 at 4.6 GTX 570 stock 4GB ram 7200rpm HDD defragged under 5 always heats in line and all, i play everything very high other then terrain detail which is normal, and object detail which is low I've locked it at 45fps steady, i do not drop in cherno past my lock, and fyi i locked in rivatuner.... Anyone with similar specs saying they get 60 everywhere is flat out lying, in order to get 60 in arma in cherno and all you need a sandy bridge i5/i7 at atleast 5ghz, i've seen a sandybridge with sdd, 660ti and all play this on medium settings at 4ghz and drop to 50 in cherno, so no, unless you have a sandy bridge, you are not getting 60's bro And for anyone saying To ram disk, never do that and for anyone saying SDD inproves performance vastly, i've tested and no, it does not, it adds a few frames due to less cpu usage, but in reality it just allows for faster startup in arma and less ghosting, your forgetting this isnt a modern game, it was made on 7200rpms when that was ultra end, and will perform just fine on one, dont let elitists fool you guys, So that concludes this, and yes these tips work, i got tired of people giving misleading information, so i though to share my own. Hopefully this helps someone, or helps someone decide on upgrading that CPU of theirs, as you can see, arma 2 hits the cpu like a bolder, so I personally recommend a sandy bridge as a viable upgrade for anyone part hunting. Good luck with your tweaks guys.

This subject again? So let's clarify. Server rule 11, from here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/62195-server-hosting-rules/ 11. As a server admin you must not: You are not permitted to ban players for killing yourself or clan members. You are not permitted to shutdown your server when your killed. You are not permitted to shutdown your server when you lose a vehicle. You are not permitted to kick or ban for smacktalk. You are not permitted to ban for suspected cheats or exploits of a non-server-disruptive nature, including but not limited to ghosting, unverified cheating, duping and similar, UNLESS you have solid evidence, IE logs. I've bolded and underlined the pertinent section and put the best part in red. Please notice the red letters. I'll write that again: Please notice all those pretty red letters, because they actually mean something. Since hacked items are cheating, and (for the most part) hacked items are logged, which makes it verified cheating, I think that banning people at the server level for having them more than meets the requirements set forth in rule 11. No amount of crying, "but Rocket said ...," is going to change that. Quit hiding between Rocket's legs. If you're using illegitimate items you're a cheater. So, if I see you on my server, with a hacked item (in the logs,) you'll get a warning via global chat, then a kick if you ignore me. If you come back with those items you'll be banned. ~DB

Why don't we all work together? Why don't we share a database! It's doable what do you think?
player (DayZ) replied to devilsnight's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Pretty sure this is why private hives exist. I like then ideaof no server hopping. no ghosting and way less combat logging. No thanks -
You might not be globally banned by Battleye, but a lot admins do locally (server) ban players for hacked items. From what I can tell the soldier skin is not a legitimate spawn. The only place I've seen it at all has been in hacker boxes and being worn by hackers, or being worn by people who took it from a hacker box. It's certainly not listed on DayZWiki ... although that might not be a 100% accurate source. And, while the soldier skin is the least of my worries, I consider the use of all hacked items to be disruptive to both my server and to my regular, rule abiding players. On my servers, if you come in with hacked items, and I catch you in the logs, you'll get a warning. If you refuse to listen you'll get kicked. If you come back with hacked items you'll be locally/server banned. In the DayZMod forum "server" section is a link: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/62195-server-hosting-rules/ I point everyone to rule 11, as quoted below: 11. Private Hive DayZmod Integration Project
Liqsquid replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I truly love dayz and have been playing it for far to many hours for some time however it seems to me a normal player that the Hive idea is flawed at the most basest level and personally I would like to see some of you smart guys fix this before worrying about other stuff. What I'm talking about is ghosting or the ability of enabling people to simply log off one server while in combat switch to another move across the map to a better position then switch back and shoot there previous combatant in the back of the head. While this is possible I and many others choose to use private servers Yes I know this isn't exactly what this thread is about... -

Our numbers have increased quite a lot recently and we have found that we got bored of hopping around Lingor for heli crashes, transporting it back to base, rinse and repeat. We have around 30 - 40 active DayZ players so when we all gather it's normally in large numbers. With so many players not shooting at each other, camping at the base and slaughtering live stock, all was peaceful until an argument broke out between members over preference of soft drink! Seeing this, the admins and senior clan members have now split us into two groups (coke vs pepsi / red vs blue) and using the ARMA2 code, assigned us in game to actual teams where we can identify enemy from foe. Vehicles also get a logo when owned by an opposing faction. I will try to explain the playstyle our community has adopted: The chosen map and environment was voted in as Lingor. Takistan isn't that great and everyone wanted a change from Chernarus There are four groups - Red (Coke), Blue (Pepsi), Neutral (clan members who have not picked a side) and pubbies (public players). There is also the admin team which are considered neutral. We do not shoot public or unarmed players unless they are a threat. Nameplates are enabled so if you see a roaming faction, you can shout "PEPSI!" instead of "freindly!!" and see what happens. *To join the group, you can enlist on our website (link[http://www.tpoc.co.uk]) but before being recruited, you must play with a group and talk to them in teamspeak). Each faction has a base, opposing teams have a 1km no fire zone so if a red guy goes to the blue base, blue are cleared to fire, the red guy is not; although sneaking in to steal a vehicle is fine. Community events will take place, this will be in the form of a supply drop somewhere on the map, a demolition derby or taking on the admin team who are transporting high value cargo across the map (ambush scenario). Watch out for the MOTD for more information about when these events will take place. Red and Blue teams can call a temporary cease fire to have a chemlight / torch rave. Senior community members meet once or twice a week to discuss activities, problems among the group etc so we can maximise our members enjoyment of the game. Because we are participating as per the rules, anyone breaking these rules will be banned for 2 weeks (faction players only) Here is a quick list of the great things about our servers: No ghosting as it's a private hive. Script kiddies (or hackers, but that's being too generous) are swiftly taken care of by vigilant admins. Global ban list in place from other community servers. Automatic kick and ban for common hacks. Red vs Blue community play style. Server gets reset every 6 hours (0200, 0800, 1400, 2000) to keep it running smooth. We are currently considering reducing the amount of times the server resets though. zackthazman kinda yold you but seeing as I'm guessing neither of us speak jibberish I'll translate it in to english: An example - Ghosting is where you know where someone is, perhaps a sniper in Electro/Cherno, and trying to close enuff to that person to kill them with say your assault rifle (you don't have a sniper rifle) will most likely result in your death you switch servers to a server with low/no people, move to where the sniper is (behind them) or to a nearby vantage point that overlooks the snipers position where you can shoot at him/her from...and then switch back to the server with the sniper, appearing right behind them or overlooking their position where you have a good chance of getting the jump on them and killing them

I read DayZ/ARMA players talking about it all the time, but can't figure out what it is supposed to mean.

Hi guys and girls, how's it going? My buddies and I have decided to move from public to a passworded private server. And we're currently looking for like minded survivors to populate our server. We all know what private servers mean for players, no ghosting, no hackers, reliable hive system. It's a no brainer really. The server has only been running a few weeks so new players will still be on a level playing field. Clans also welcome. _______________________________________________ Do you want a server to call home? :| Wanna get to know some other survivors? :) Trade? :D Survive?!! Go to http://brothersinhar....wordpress.com/ to get a feel for who we are. _______________________________________________ Server Settings Country - UK (connection has been good from all over the world) Version - 1.7.2.6 Timezone - UTC -8 Veteran 3P - On CH - Off Vehicles - 30 We have the ability to run all maps (Chernarus, Lingor, Utes, Takistan, Panthera, Zargabad and Fallujah) and may switch sometime in the future. Hive or Private? Which do you prefer?
drpoonhammer replied to drpoonhammer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
But, you see the thing is that I don't want to play alone and would like to play with as many people as possible therefore I probably wouldn't have a password on the server. So my question here is that would having a private hive stop or reduce hacking to some extent or will it just solve the problem of ghosting and etc. -

The games dead, will be more dead-er after the 4th quarter. (GOTTA PUSH THEM GAMES FOR XMAS) i remember around july-aug six launcher hovered around 10k to 25k players on its low/high areas. sometimes it even jumped to 30k. Its now lucky to get 4k over the weekend. No actual statistics because im not that inspired, but just what ive seen. Also, private hives are just amazing. admins are generally friendly and actually give a fuck, they moniter it more consistently, hackers are a no biggie, and most of all no ghosting, no combat logs (sometimes) ANNNDD you could even make a legacy on these servers (Like right now im an evil bandit and everyone knows it) only real problem is that groups get REALLY big and competitive. Lone wolfs are kinda pushed away -

Dayz ruined by rampat hacking?
sausagekingofchicago replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, I guess the option is playing public hive servers with a bunch of drooling idiots or playing on this whitelisted private hive server with soft hackers that for some reason haven't found our cars yet, our camp, or bee lined right to us after we killed them. To our surprise, NO ONE has combat logged either and there's certainly no ghosting. So I think I'll take my whitelisted server where someone may or may not be hacking but certainly isn't teleporting me into the ocean or turning us all into goats. -
I started looking at getting a server set up for another group of players a couple of weeks ago ... its not too bad as far as the technical side goes ( although, theres a lot of perussing dizzying log files looking for hackers, and such ), its mostly a money issue. Servers are anywhere from $50 - $70 a month for 40-50 slots. Not bad if we have enough ppl to keep them up and running. Though, not everyone can afford even $5 a month extra ( sometimes, thats me D: ) ... so its something we could certainly do, but with the knowledge that it could get a bit outta hand time, and money wise ( but Im up for it :] ). We could also set up a private hive server. That would solve a lot of hacker, ghosting, and server hopping problems, though they still obviously accure on occation, we could stiffle it quite a bit. And the public could still come on ... which I want. I played with some folks that locked their server down so nobody else could join ... *yawn* Lets see how the group builds itself, and if it looks good as far as some of the logistics go, Id be happy as shit to get our own servers, and maintain 'em. We should also stay aware that the stand alone version could be coming soon ... that could impact any decsion to jump into this mod with servers and stuff. Might be better to wait it out a bit ... .....

I'll stop combat logging when people stop teleporting/ghosting to get behind me.

How do you not play with Hacks?
Herr Robert replied to Slickback (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I play on a private hive server. It is actually possible to play there when the server is full for longer than 10 minutes without getting killed by a scripter. The admins on it will also rollback the server if everyone on the server gets slayed or teleported into the air. There are also other benefits such as exploits being less common (you might get banned if you dupe or combat log), and since it's a private hive, there's no ghosting or serverhopping. I understand your point of view, though. The public hive is beyond playable by now in my opinion. Even if you have an alternate account for duping it is a waste of time because it will likely take a longer time to suicide and run to meet each other to do the duping than the time you will survive on a full 40-50 player server without getting killed by a scripter.
