Hi everyone, this post is about a new server that is now up. As the name says, we are a chernarus server, and, we have bases set up all over the map, in these bases there are tents filled with loot, vehicles, buildings, etc. If you happen to come across one of these bases then feel free to claim it as your own! Now, for the part about clans, any group that wants to join our server can do normally, and play dayz as they normally would, with a few extra things which ill discuss after this. However, on the loading screen is a website where groups / clans can register and they are then given a few extras to help them out, first of all, by registering on the site, they can choose their own loadout for EVERY TIME they spawn! So, if you get killed by another group, you wont spawn with nothing as normal, but instead you will spawn with the loadout that you requested! Also, groups are given bases and their own private helicopter spawns within those bases! So, if your heli gets shot down in a fire fight, on the next restart it will respawn back in your base! Now for the new things that have been introduced to the map, first of all, we have built another airfield, its called the SW airfield and has some treats for those who go to it! At the NW airfield, there is a fun zone, with ramps and vehicles to do jumps over planes! Also, Skalisty Island has now been turned into a helicopter airbase! If you are a solo survivor, then you can still get access to all the same extras as groups, just register through the site and when you spawn, you will have the gear you chose! We are active admins, who are on the server daily, any problems which arise are dealt with quickly to ensure that everyone in our community gets to play problem free. We also hold tournaments for those online willing to participate, these can range from assaults on bases and cities, to races around the map, with whoever / whichever group winning earning themselves / their group valuable prizes! So come on over if you want this experience! Why is it that whenever I say 'hey, sniper rifles in this game are kinda OP' people assume I'm getting killed by them all the time? I've been shot AT by an AS50 once. I've had an AS50 several times. I've been killed by one twice. The first time was in the barracks, guy spawned in in front of me, I didn't want to shoot him, he shot me and killed me instantly. Second time was on the elektro hill. Me and my squadmate were sitting on the west side of the hill watching what we thought was a bandit in elektro itself. I got shot by an AS50 from the west somewhere. But watch one livestream. Read any player account. Ask any player. The AS50 is the single most effective weapon in the game. It has literally no drawbacks. It's semi-automatic, allowing follow-up shots with no problem. it has a high-power scope, and is ridiculously accurate at close, or long range. without scope, it is still as effective at hitting targets as any single-shot rifle. it has zeroing, making it perfect for camping. It can take both it's own 5 round magazine and the 10 round magazine of an M107. Both ammunition types kill instantly with a shot at any range to any part of the body. It can destroy vehicles with a single round through the engine block. What's the next-best weapons on the table? The M107 is in the same vein. I prefer the scope on the M107, to be honest. Further back, we have the M24, which is only bolt-action and lacks stopping power. The DMR can be rapid-fired but doesn't have any zeroing. Basically, the only drawback to the AS50 or the M107 in any way, shape, or form, is the fact that you can't use the scope in conjunction with NVG's. That's it. Oh, and it's loud. Which really doesn't make much of any difference for someone who actually has the skill to find it. You just can't fire it in towns. But who snipes people from in towns? I offered up the weapon in the original post because it has drawbacks. Bolt-action, single-shot. Requires reloading in between shots. This means that at close range, it's USELESS beyond the first shot. It would be hard to find lots of ammunition for it. It would be a weapon of skill and utility, rather than the be-all, end-all of all weapons in the game. I don't mind sniper rifles. Sniper rifles are fun. But the AS50 and M107 remove any skill from the equation. The guns are just simply too powerful. They need drawbacks. Currently, there are none. -
Yes, I like your ideas as well. The world as it is, is just to tidy. Less of the civil was barricades, and more realistic stuff. Also hope to see more cars that are abandoned, some wrecks, but not all blown up. The way it is now. it looks like all the vehicles just blew up at first sight of the infection.

I do feel quite bored, though that's not the reason :-) I'm just simplifying your post for those of lesser intellect. If you so believe you have a Market, albeit trading spare Car parts for high-grade Military Weaponry designed to disable armoured Vehicles, then by all means.

not sure if its te right forum but in support i wasnt getting a reply Ok i read around and found to fix #85 you had to edit something in the battleye folders which i did and it works for some vehicles, but now for example when using the apache or a10 one or two of the weapons on them will kick you with createvehicle 17# or 27#. what do i need to do to fix them? thanks -
To Whitelist or Not To Whitelist...

I vote whitelist. Playing on an open server is too much of a gamble at this point in the mod. That, combined with admin presence, regular restarts, reasonable loadouts (no starting with gold pistol, DMR, no 1K vehicles, etc) is what I'm looking for. hopefully that applies to others. If you have a good server, word should spread and people will come. -
I am currently hosting a Private Hive Server (details at the bottom of the post) and I am keen to find out what the consensus is on White Listing and/or Password Protecting servers. I have forums set up for the server (including the Public Hive one I also host) but there doesn't seem to be much activity on those forums ... despite the Public Server having max players on line a large percentage of the time. Obviously I want people to play on the Private Hive, but I also want them to feel a little safe from "Skiddies" and hopefully enjoy themselves. using a Whitelist seems the answer, but will this not limit attracting new players to the server? Should I even care? How do you go about promoting your server? Should I just implement the Whitelist system and let the server growth happen organically? How do I inform people that they need to go to the forums to be Whitelist? Too many questions ... I am in a bit of a quandary on what to do and I am hoping someone here can share some insight or their experiences. so after the update to the database nothing is recording to Bliss. everything is saving fine its just not showing up in the database. i have switched to default settings as well and still nothing is recording as it should. new survivors/deployables/vehicles/buildings are being saved somewhere cause resetting does not delete them, but they wont show up in the Bliss database. -
1). Already been answered terrorizer33. 2). There are various ways of doing this. You can do it in game when you are logged in as an admin (which is a bit of a pain as far as I am concerned), the other way is to use a RCON tool (like DaRT). Once again, this is highly dependant on your service provider. 3). Adding vehicles is normally done through the database, you will have to Google for tutorials on that, it requires some knowledge of the database and My-SQL/SQL. Most service providers have a control panel that allows you to add or spawn in vehicles. Other options are to add spawns directly in the mission file and import that in to your server, once again this is dependant on your service provider. 4). Admins in the game aren't really added, you merely given them your admin password for the server. If you want to add admins on the control center or management tool, that would be specific to your service provider and I can't help you there. 5). I would recommend you check your service provider's website for some type of FAQ and/or Knowledge Base. Failing that, send them some type of Support Ticket and they should be able to answer your questions. I am not with dayz.st ... so I can't answer on the specifics of how they do things and what services they provide. We're an open community for fair and mature gamers with our own Survival Taviana server that's well suited to new players, and our own Teamspeak server. We've been playing and supporting Day Z since launch and have our own internal clan (split into two factions, BSB Ravens and BSB Scorpions) as well as hosting several smaller groups and clans withing our community. Our Taviana server is Whitelisted and protected against hackers and the map is fantastic for newer players with loads of vehicles (400+) , loads of new buildings and interesting cities and most points of interest are less than 1K between each other! Just for clarity... The map modifications will be grouped in the following ; Extra buildings to make a previously useless town worth going too. EG. supermarkets at staroye. Extra buildings to spread the looting across the map more and stop over looting of one spot. EG. barracks at NEAF now to stop mass over looting of NWAF. Extra buildings to make a preivously pointless empty area (field) look better. EG. NOT implemented yet Extra buildings to make a horrific spawn location usable again EG. ammo crates (NOT OP) and tiny military compound at kamenka. Allows users to go north straight away without having to go up the coast. Extra vehicles for fun to try them and to make the more distant spawn points easier to cope with. EG. OSPREY at kamenka. What about vehicles? I see lots of gear and equipment mentioned but no vehicles? I could quite like the idea of playes being able to purchase a vehicle, $2.50 for pushbike, $5.00 for ATV/Motorbike, $7.50 for pikcup truck, $10.00 for UAZ........ or something like that I think could work nicely. And with only vehicles being an option, you wouldnt get any of the unbalanced gameplay, just more happy players as they have their vehicles :) -

Which is better Taviana, Namalsk, Panthera, or Oring?

if you want a huge map for pvp ( a lot of clans) and 1000+ vehicles... than go for Taviana ...I personnaly find it boring as hell and overachieving....Namalsk provides a much better unique and creepy atmosphere including its own background lore, a lot of cool military loot and pvp ( hot spots) but not so much to explore compared to Taviana...btw the Nuke Outs (emissions) and Blood Suckers can be disabled on serverside...I would go for Namalsk.... -

UK417 used to be public, but is now Private and whitelisted, it has a few more vehicles than default - but not excessive like a lot of the servers you see. It's not going anywhere any time soon, so consider making that your new home (you will have to apply for whitelisting) -

DayZ is great and all, but Chernarus in its current state is flawed in many ways. I don't think the other problems are worth mentioning as that's covered in just about every second topic on these forums. Most importantly, the map is too small. You may disagree, but after almost a year (and those who have actually played Arma), the map is learned and you end up knowing exactly where you are without much trouble. A larger map would keep the feeling of being lost for a much longer time and add a bigger sense of adventure to the game as well as making vehicles less redundant. A larger map with a vastly larger amount of players would add more 'endgame' in the sense of exploration and domination. Currently, If you leave the coast, there are generally two areas which players are funneled into, and those are Stary and NWAF, which renders the rest of the map completely worthless. Chernarus is too simple and player density isn't spread evenly; it lacks points of interest. No one is going to run for an hour to the north-east airstrip for a few military spawns when you can instead run through Elektro and obtain equal gear, even if you happen to die a couple times because of high player density. I want more points of interest such as Black Lake or Devil's Castle, that offer both scenery and reasons to visit them. This is something Taviana partially addresses, it offers significantly more locations that are interesting and rewarding, which in turn balances out the player density. If we take Devil's Castle or Black Lake as an example, they provide no reason to go there more than once to see the area. Cities. Again, way too simple, way too small. Taviana does it right, or at least takes a step in the right direction, Sabina is a great example of what I'd expect a city to look like. Most importantly, Cherno, Elektro and Berezino are all on the coast, this doesn't help balance player densities whatsoever and worsens the situation. The Chernarus atmosphere, environment and design fits the DayZ setting well and I'm quite pleased with that, however, the landscape does become slightly dull after some time because, in my opinion, it is too simple. I'd like to see different environments on a large map to keep the realism in place; introduce mountainous areas that are snowy, lakes of adequate size, and other scenic areas that not only provide nice scenery, but also offer rewards rather than field, treeline, field, treeline. I want vehicles to mean something, to serve a purpose. Right now it's safe to say that a bicycle is probably the best vehicle in the game, the only reliable vehicle in the game and the only vehicle that provides an actual benefit, the rest increase your chances of dying by a huge margin and are often not worth the risk. People complain about hoarding, but fail to realize that the moment you start driving it around, you're going to lose the vehicle. People also love to complain about PvP, again without realizing that currently, there is nothing left to do. There is no reason to work together, and no alternative endgame other than PvP. The worst part, that the map layout/loot distribution is so utterly flawed, that geared players are encouraged to focus on Cherno/Elektro/NWAF/Stary and have zero reasons to ever consider other areas when in search of PvP. This only encourages players to go camp on a hill and wait for the predictable victim to arrive in one of the few locations mentioned earlier, and personally, I don't think that should be encouraged further, because randomly spotting other players while travelling and dealing with the situation accordingly is more interesting, and this is coming from someone who snipes Elektro with a .50 cal on a frequent basis. In short, I'd like Chernarus to be significantly bigger with vastly more scenery spread across the entire map. I don't want the game to consist of loot Elektro/Cherno, move to Stary and NWAF, done. -

the whole point of the suggestion is to make the anti-materiel rifles less OP. Right now, they dominate the gameplay because they have all the upsides - high scope zoom, semi-auto, perfectly accurate, zero-able to any effective range, ammunition comes in lots of 5 and 10, kills with one shot, and can destroy vehicles, and literally absolutely no downsides. If you have a DMR and find an anti-materiel rifle, you don't think 'well this is for vehicles. I want to shoot players'. You think 'this thing kills everything better than any other weapon ever.' They simply aren't balanced. the best anti-vehicle shouldn't be the best anti-personelle. -

If we are still comparing to real life, those rifles are about 30-50 pounds, and running around with it would make you extremely soar and tired. And the 50.CAL. Rounds are kind of retarded, they are ANIT-MATERIAL (FOR VEHICLES) if you ghit a human with it there would be a 8x8 inch hole in there chest.... -

Long title, I know. So, what's the problem with sniping in DayZ? The two top sniper rifles are semi-automatic, 10/5 round magazines, and require no skill to use at long range due to zeroing, coupled with high-powered scopes and a single-shot kill to any region of the body at any range. Every sniper rifle below the anti-material threshold require two shots to kill at least, and require more skill to use, in general. Less scope zoom/damage etc etc. The main argument against removing the AS50 and M107 is 'realism' hurrdurr they exist so they should be in the game', and 'what will we use to take out helicopters?' I at least concur with the helicopter issue. But I don't believe a semi-automatic rifle that can kill at extreme ranges and trumps everything in the game is the answer. I suggest this: http://world.guns.ru...rov-ptrd-e.html This is the russian-made Degtyarov PTRD anti-tank rifle. It fires a 14.5 millimetre projectile (a .50 cal is only 12.5mm), and is single-shot, bolt action. If this weapon replaced the AS50/M107 as the premier anti-material rifle, it would fit the setting better, as it is a russian weapon, and would improve weapon balance immensely. As a large-round rifle, it would still kill in one shot, but being a single shot weapon firing such a large round, it would require large amounts of space for ammunition (think crossbow bolts), and as a bolt-action, would have a much slower fire rate, allowing targets who were not hit with the first round to find cover. As there is no scope (possibly as an attachment?), it would be used primarily against vehicles, as an anti-material weapon should be. This would create a more balanced weapon lineup. The M24 wouldn't be immediately tossed aside in favor of the anti-material rifle, and the SVD would be the best possible sniper rifle for anti-personnel fire. Sniper rifle choice would come down to capabilities rather than straight-up power. Trade power for range/usefulness. Trade anti-vehicle ability for anti-personnel capabilities. Now bring on the arguments. For those who say 'DayZ shouldn't be about balance!' I say kindly shut up, as it is a game. All games observe balance. Otherwise we'd have tanks and APC's sitting on the beaches tearing up new spawns. Because they EXIST in the world and they SHOULD exist in the game, right? DayZ is supposed to be a hard, harsh world. The AS50, and M107 to a lesser extent, is easy mode. -
