i like many of them especially the flora and fauna ideas and being able to shoot out of vehicles. Personally i do not like fast day/night cycles. it should be synchronized with the server time.

I'm not going to give you the same spiel you can find on all these other posts, I'm simply going to tell you the truth. In the Asylum, we deal mostly in sociopaths, bandits, murderers, thieves, and all other manner of irreputable company. We're a mature group with the median age being around 21. We are on around the clock, and have members from many different time zones. We're not some huge behemoth of a clan, in which you will simply be another face among many others, we're small enough that we all know eachother well, and operate as a pretty tight-knit unit, not a group of semi-strangers. The average skill level for the group is fairly high, a lot of people wouldn't be able to make it just on the merits of their skill, but we're not looking for people who participate in gun fights, we're looking for people who turn the tides in gun fights. We're looking for the people who see themselves outnumbered and outgunned, and think "This should be fun." We don't require you to be the best of players, nor do we look down on you if you die, or lose. We're looking for people with a "I may die, but I'll attempt to take as many with me as possible" attitude. We're looking for people who, for whatever reason have irreparably damaged their DayZ moral compass, we're looking for people who don't mind being deceitful, ruthless, relentless, and unforgiving. We're looking for people who couldn't care less about their gear, they need to recognize that it's not yours...you've been lent the gear by DayZ, and sometime soon DayZ is going to take it right back. Same with vehicles. Use it, and make sure you've had your fill, because eventually - it will be lost. We shoot enemy players on sight if they are armed, but sometimes we opt to play with our food first, that is simply the type of place this is. We're a cool group of guys, we laugh, we joke, we have a good time, talk about things that interest us, and occasionally attempt to commit server-wide genocide. No one likes squeakers, and we're no exception. We're looking for 18+, but we'll settle for 16+ if you prove that your maturity is at an acceptable level. The clan is not strict, you can show up when you want to play - other than that we have no stringent rules. We do require that you do not be in another clan that plays the same Mod we play on mainly (breaking point) because that would too easily devolve into a conflict of interests. We have a (loose) military ranking system, and the way to move up in status is through shows of leadership qualities, and masterful performance in the field. We usually run in groups of 3-6, anything more gets clunky and confusing. We're a fairly new clan, but many of us have been playing together for weeks, and can attest to each member's skill. Uniform: Ghillie suit for sniper team, Terrorist clothing for assault squad (Black character model preferred...makes it easier to distinguish teammates when not on operations.) Things we like to do: Take over, Purge, and Loot NWAF using all manner of nasty tactics, vehicles, and prejudice. We practically live around the NWAF/Stary/Zelenogorsk area. Killing everything that moves, including animals. (especially goats.) We don't really do coastal city take overs as much, it's not that fun taking out squads of bambis with lee enfields, pistols, and ak-74's. Every once in a while we do it though, usually in groups of no more than 3. We never have need of better gear, or vehicles. When you play the way we do, you just end up with everything you need. Right so first off these aren't complete solutions or ideas. I’m posting them here so as a community we can improve the ideas to a standard that would fit the DayZ feel. Blueprints The idea behind blueprints would be engineering a solution to a problem you face in the DayZ world. This solution could be anything from, creating a D.I.Y. weapon or building a base. Blueprints would require some materials first of all, so you can’t just make a bunch of them and also can’t do it straight away when first starting the game. When designing the item/solution you want in the blueprint, you won’t be able to use everything available in the world. You will be limited to the resources you have/ have come across (i.e. you have knowledge of their existence in the world) to build the solution you want. The way I see this working is very much similar to what you can do in Garry’s Mod for HL2 (see Appendix 1), but a much more limited version… else we’ll see a lot of flying zombies via balloon power. You would be able to combined different objects in the world to create a new object, easy example: Multiple wooden planks placed next to each other with 2 planks across can make a fence. If you wanted to make this lethal, you could have spiked poles coming through the gaps or nails coming out the planks. I’m not quite sure on the implementation of actually getting this new fence in the ground, but hopefully there will be some solution. So this item/ solution would be made in the blueprint, maybe blueprints can be copied and passed around so more people can create your object. Once you have a working solution, you would be able to place a transparent object on the ground (I don’t really like this idea, but it’s the best I have so far), rotate it and then lock it in. I’m not sure who would be able to see this transparent object, friends, your clan etc probably, they would all be able to contribute to the resources it requires. Building the object would require you/ your friends to collect the resources which were designated during the design blueprint phase. Once all resources are collected, it will take X amount of time to finish building. This building phase could have several ways to go about it, but this is the one I've thought of and there probably is a better implementing this phase…but you get the idea. Base Building Since DayZ gives a ‘realistic’ feel to surviving, base building would need to fit this, so I’m not talking about building a brick houses. The houses would be of a more wooden structure or corrugated metal and would revolve around the blueprints idea. An example of a D.I.Y. house would be a shack made out of road signs, did a google search there is such a thing. I think base building should include many forms allowing people to get creative, for example: · This could involve setting up a fence around (part of) an already established town. · Repairing structures that have weak spots. i.e. if we had prisons, repairing any holes in the fences that may be there. · Creating your own base out of wooden/metal structures. · Going underground, digging a base underground perhaps? This would require reinforcing the tunnels with wooden structures. All of these options seem to be a possibility for a base, and each has their own advantages and disadvantages. For example the first point, it would be easy to do and require less resources but at the same time the amount of ‘traffic’ coming through would be a lot more than if you made a base in the woods (Traffic referring to the amount of zombies and people who know about your base). As I stated previously base building would revolve around the idea of blueprints. These bases would be made of out several objects found around the world and placed together to form houses, fences, lookout towers, shops. Basically if given enough time an in-game community could thrive against the hordes of zombies. Could go as far as to suggest, the game could ‘pickup’ that a community has been made or development has been established and spawn more zombies near this location, which are more aggressive, trying to break down the fences, etc. A community or group of people living within these structures would go hand in hand, with the already possible end game of vehicles. As these would be used to gather more resources than if one person was dragging along some plank(s) of wood. I read another post, which disagrees with base building (http://dayzmod.com/f...-base-building/). Some of the main complaints were about organised groups having the advantage, but as I said in the beginning this game has a realistic approach to it. So what do you think would happen in any post-apocalyptic world? People will always group up, as there is power in numbers. This fits the realistic feel of what would actually happen, in my opinion. Additional thoughts (on the paragraph above) Groups of people shouldn't be scavenging for food, as it shouldn't be able to sustain them. This is where renewable sources of food come in, leaving all the beans and scraps around for the solo players. Groups of players will most likely raid places to get firepower, but they will most likely have more to protect, so it makes sense for them to have it. I also think groups’ raiding other groups is fine; it is a post-apocalyptic world after all, fight for survival. A groups needs should be catering to the group, whereas solo play should be stealth and obviously yourself. These two types of requirements should keep both types of players entertained, with goals to fulfill Both sets of players can still disrupt the other player’s goals, either by ransacking a camp or by stealthily sneaking into a camp and stealing supplies. This post is kinda rushed, because I have exams to study for so apologies if I've overlooked something. Thanks for reading. This past week I have been playing dayz, or at least what I thought was dayz until I joined a different server, and found that everything from the world, to loot spawns, to vehicles, game features, and even buildings were changed missing, added, swapped, or modified in some way or another on one server and not on another. So I was curious what even is dayz? because I haven't found one solid gameplay that is continous on each server, some will have different elements and game settings edited and I found myself liking one feature but disliking another, later to find out the things I like weren't even in the game (DAYZ) to begin with, but was a server specific feature that I could play without even downloading any extra files. How was I to know that wasn't even dayz? So this is a big problem, especially considering I think the community is really curious what version of dayz is actually dayz, and after playing some of these modified versions of dayz, I became less than satisifed when I found out that you couldn't even use a blood bag on yourself in the "real"? version of dayz, or at least you could on some servers but not on others. anyway here is my experience from day 0 to day z. :) My first experience of dayz on the very first day I played, I downloaded dayz commander installed dayz, joined one of the 4000+ servers listed and spawned in next to a beach. I opened my gear to find a flashlight, a bandage, a can of coke, and a can of beans. I started walking down the beach, and heard the sound of gunshots, then some guy yelling my name as blue text appears on the bottom left cornor of the screen, while everyone else started typing in text to shut up and more blue text began to fill the bottom left cornor of my screen. Seconds later, I was at a black screen with a handprint that read. "you are dead" from there I couldn't figure out what to do, i tried pressing restart, and it would just say "you have died" over and over everytime i pressed it, so i closed the game, by pressing control alt delete, and clicked on a new server.. this time I spawned in with a macorov, and 2 magazines, a map, a gps, a knife, a hatchet, 2 bandaids. I wasnt on the beach this time, but in the outsqirts of a city in a forest area. I started walking along, and found a toolbox, then slightly down the road was a car parked outside a gas station, I walked up, and scrolled wheeled the car to try and get in. It said "remove tire" remove fuel tank, repair windscreen, and refuel. I pressed refuel and it said refuel complete. I then scroll wheeled down to get in driver seat and started putting down the road. Hey I recognize this place I thought, but wait all these buildings werent here before,and there is a big military base here. I pulled over and startred searching for loot.. Everything was completely empty. Got back in my car and started driving down the road, this server had a little banner on the top right of the screen that displayed my fps, kills, bandit kills, murders, and then the server ip. I started running over zombies with the car, but my kills didn't increase, I wondered why but kept driving down the road. Oh my Gosh, its another car, I pulled in front of it and got out, walked over to the new car, scroll wheeled and this time it said "Repair tire, gear, tow, and refuel with jerry can" I clicked the tow button, now it said click the object you would like to attach this vehicle to, I clicked my car, and suprisingly the other car, warped behind the car I was driving in, and attached itself... looks a bit weird I thought but that gets the job down. I started driving down the road. My friend joined in and sidechatted me to join his ventrillo channel, I figured since there wasnt radios in the game and I just watched somone get banned for someone using voice in side chat I didn't want to go their route so I joined ventrillo. We met up built a tent, and parked the cars, minutes later we got a notification about a server restart in 1 minute, and then lost connection. I closed the window and rejoined the server, on join I spawned back in standing next and one of the vehicles that was now on fire. I had put my backpack full of items in my tent, that was now empty, and the time of day was strangly different than it was before. Since nobody was on the server anymore after the restart we decided to try a different server in hopes to meet some friendlies. I Chose the next server and my friend joined in, upon join, I was right next to a car missing one wheel, and my friend mentioned that he had found a wheel on another car that looked good down the road, but didnt have a toolbox, I looked in the gear of the car and suprisingly there was a toolbox, I went to meet up with him to get the wheel from the car and we would be on our way, when I got to the car, I scroll wheeled like I had done before and this time It didn't have any of the options to repair or remove parts, just gear, and get in, strange I thougth, so we left the cars and started to walk away, later on a zombie hit me one time, and i became unconcious, my friend had found a machette, but upon trying to swing it, it did nothing, thankfully I wokeup while all the zombies were chasing him and bandaged myself. I scroll wheeled down, and it said "give self bloodbag" This is new i thought, i pressed the button, and it said, cannot while in combat, I stood still a bit, and it still said that, I crawled around, and finally it let me give self bloodbag, after about 10 repetitive anitmations, I was finally able to get blood and join the non black and white world again. sadly, minutes after that we met the end of a enfield, after a guy on a bike pulled up and began shooting. another you are dead screen. well I had enough for today, I thought and logged off.. after doing a bit of reading online, and trying a few different servers, and finally talking to an admin that told me he would give me a loadout if it went to his website and made a donation. and that they had converted devils castle into a base by spawning themselves in items. I decided that the dayz I wanted to play just didn't exhist yet. It didn't have the immersion that I heard about, and it seemed that what I wanted was server specific, I then read a blog post about dayz origins, Im downloading it now and going to give it a go. It sounds promising, and looks alot more like the game I wanted to play. Despite everyone saying in the comments that "they ripped off dayz" Ill make up my own mind. Anyway I hope you enjoyed this read, would love to hear your comments.

any possibilty to safely hide / save your gear ?

Exactly. Losing gear on death is what makes the game somewhat balanced when comparing hardcore players vs. people who log on a few hours a week. Sure, the hard core people can build up a base with high end gear, but it can just as easily be discovered and robbed as well. The only thing I would like to see is some sort of camo tent / cover for vehicles, to help conceal them a bit better. I've found the best strategy (as already mentioned) is to set up 3-4 single tents and separate your gear. They don't have to be on separate corners of the map, but far enough away (~500m+) from each other, and not in direct line of sight (i.e. you can't see the other tents from each tent's position). That way any loss isn't significant. But it all goes back to rule #1 - don't get attached to your gear -- you're gonna lose it at some point. -

Hey if yall want you can join us on hatchet heroes we have a clan with me and my friend i'm 15 and he's 14. We are both perrty good players and got vehicles. We basicaly don't have a medic we just help each other patch up when needed so one guy doesn't have all the meds. We also like the sniper idea but everything else is pretty much all hell and fun. We also follow kinda of a policy of killling like you except i'm a bit softer than my partner and prefer to help noobs a bit when they are in need. -

The Nursing Home has undergone some renovations we now have attack choppers and fighter jets but you can not just walk up and take these you have to get past the NPC guarding them we also have a new basic starting load out after all this is a Zombie apocalypse and you have to work hard to survive we have custom bases in both the North and South military and player for you to raid and claim as your own extra loot buildings and 300 vehicles spread far and wide across Chernarus we also welcome PVP Clans and Players to help mix it up a bit Do you think you can survive come along and prove it Server Info: IP: 192.31.185.201 Port: 3170 Teamspeak Info: Nursinghome.typefrag.com:5715 -

Hello fellow DayZ players, before we started this server it was hard for me and my friends to find a good server so we thought that making the ideal server for us (a common DayZ player) will be ideal for players like YOU. We are on DayZ commander called Zulfur or our IP: ( 146.185.23.130:3136 ) Here are some key points on why YOU should join are amazing server; We have more heli crashes then the average server. Custom buildings in progress. A good starting load out. Very friendly admins. We have more vehicles then the average server but not hordes of them to ruin the game. Active admins. Only offical servers, only admin'd by offical staff who's job it is to admin, and who do not play the game as an admin. sick of joining servers with admin telling people where I am, or telling their friends were vehicles are, or spawning in loadouts for themselves or people that give them money, this is not dayz.. the problem for me isn't the hackers its just the servers and the server admin.

i am fortunate enough to have found a good hack free server (almost a month with no incidents), with 'real' dayz which is best in my opinion. the 'modded' dayz is just too much. who needs hundreds of vehicles and being geared up from the very start? that juts takes away all the fun from the game -

there are hundereds of vehicles but they are usally all piled up at the admin camp, or given out to people who donate to the server. -

Despite the hundreds of vehicles advertised on servers, I still don't find them that often. I would expect to see roaming convoys and the air filled with choppers and biplanes. Never the case so I typically ignore whatever number they put on their server title. -

I just finished my first week of playing dayz, i had never played before and I spent the entire week joining and playing on several of the numerous offical and unoffical servers familiarizing myself with the game and what goes on, I have become completely dissatisfied, with my experience thus far.I found it hard to find a server I enjoyed because of things like The admin abuse, game mechanics ruined by custom anti hacking measures or by hacking, admin scripting, custom loadouts, server custom map changes, admin revealing my location to their friends via admin map, admin spawning in items for themselves or friends, and futher igornace of the obnoxiousness of batteye spamming the side-chat and ruining my dayz experience, and I have come up with a solution: to Create a server that I always wanted to play on. Let me describe it. First I would put the player population to 100 No custom server banner, just simply the black dayz logo custom join screen, (does not show lobby, simply joins game, and spawns in player,) black out the lobby information, bluefor information, and everything in the lobby in general, new players would spawn in a randomly chosen location in air and parachute in. server name would just be DAYZ I would use a program to automatically admin the server. something like TSW anti hack tool. disable battleye no cd key required all global and side chat would be disabled, direct chat only, voice or type, custom chat featured and added radio object that would allow player to tune to a frequency and voice or text to players on that frequency. no kicking or banning players - other measures would be taken, to get to the problem script scan tool would disable scripts or injectors instead of ban or kick player, it would just simply disable whatever they are trying to add in, or spawn in, or teleport, guns that are not allowed would simply be removed from inventory or world (helicopter crashes) upon spawn. world would be recustomized to allow every building enterable or adding items that spawn all over map. loot spawns would be realistic, to location and realsiticly placed, vehicles could have parts removed, or added via toolbox vehicles can be auto refuled at either the gas pump, fuel dump, fuel station, farm gas, auto refuel works by mouse wheel vehicle to [re-fuel] when next to one of the above, zombies animation slowed down, zombies do not run past players and then stop and turn around to attack player, zombies no longer flail around, quickly moving around between crouch and stand, or crawl or stand, or even just make one zombie animation for only standing, slow walking, zombies that easily detect player and slowly start to gather towards players, and move in Hordes, zombies requiring headshots for single bullet kill or killed by shooting numerous times zombie damage to players rarely causes bleeding, or knock outs, unless player is sick, or very hurt, backpack and inventory increased, to allow multiple primary weapons max of 2, One inventory, backpacks simply add slots to primary inventory, no longer put items in backpack or on person, simply just have an general inventory count that can be removed or added to, all items take one inventory slot, this will prevent items from being destoryed when added to inventory, inventory can be accessed by other players, just like backpack could have been before players would never be kicked or banned, other measures would be taken hackers teleporting would result in player death, or simply disabled teleport via script the only text that would display in sidechat is, [player has died] zombie animations slowed down The hud would contain only the generic functions, will not display server [insert] towing enabled but improved part smelting enabled, more vehicle types added, world improved to create more realistic world and loot spawn locations, world time would be 4 day night cycles within the amount of time of one real world day.. weather would be variable I wanted to create a server that would implement all of my favorite functions I have come across playing the different modifications of dayz. I am here looking for help to either have someone convert there server over to this style, or help me create one from scratch, experience with scripting to add in some of these features, and modify files to all the functionality. To create a better dayz..and dayz experience. -

Our servers are running fine, any issues you may have will be worked out shortly. We are a little bit behind on support and there are a couple of kinks we are ironing out - nothing major though. We are using OFFICIAL origin vehicles, and the same type of construction can be used in our servers. It is also required that you have the official Origins files through DayZCommander. There's nothing wrong with what we are doing. Origins is a publically available game client and anyone should be free to host it. Any mod from Bohemia falls in this category. The second part of your comment about our anti hack tool just makes no sense. This tool is available for admins only and is completely optional to use. You can call it a cheating tool or whatever you want, but it is an effective tool for combating hacking. We've received nothing but stellar reviews of this product. >>>>It's people like you who brought Dayz down and will bring origins down too ! I'm not supporting you in this That's fine and well but you are wrong. There's nothing with providing much needed mods to the entire community without the abusive restricted behavior we've been seeing as a trend lately. People should be free to host and play without restriction.. that's what the modding community is all about. -

no offence but servers like yours with 600+ vehicles etc.. is what makes me hate private hives. there just is no excitement in finding a vehicle on servers like that because when you see a vehicle your just like "oh....theres another heli, pfft.. ive already got 3" compared to official vanilla with less then 100 (probably less then 50) where you see a vehicle and you just sit there and scream with excitement and don't give a shit how broken it is, you would go to the very end of the earth to fix the damn thing.
