Hi Recently I decided to make a new server on Day Z, i have always been a passionate player and love this game to bits, I thought it would be a good idea to create my own server where I can create a world for my friends + others to play in. I use Vilayer for hosting and the hive is private, I have the server setup and I have also implemented custom vehicle spawns on the server with more vehicles + helicopter spawns. Please join the server and help me increase it's player activity, it's 40 slot so there is more then enough space for players to join if they want to come on and have some fun, here's the details for how you can join it. Name: (UK) Noobs World - 1.7.6.1 Chernarus/ Active Admins/ Side Chat/ Regular/ Custom Loadout /200+ Vehicles /Noob Friendly Connection Info: 94.242.227.102:2322 What I would like to ask the community is how can I add custom buildings to the server, and if at all possible, what is the easiest method and is there any tutorials I can follow? I have found tutorials on creating the buildings in the 3D editor and then somehow converting the code and adding it into the database, but to be honest don't understand it that well and the tutorial is pretty rough. Another thing about my server that is setup that is hindering me is the lack of crash site spawns and loot that spawns in locations such as NEA and NWA. How can you add more crash sites to the world map, and also how can you edit the loot that spawns in locations, perhaps there is a way you can increase the percentage of loot that spawns overall? If you have any suggestions for the server so far please leave your feedback, if someone or the community could also help me with my questions I would appreciate it, thanks. Note: I may be looking for staff who can monitor the server if it becomes popular :)

Yes sir. Vehicles have different ids in the hiveext.log (look them up in the top of the log), but finding them on the map is the same as players. -
Paying attention to general development timelines over the past decade, supplemented by pre-disposing factors (developed engine, support staff, large base mod to work off of, etc.) > Having a brother who works at Ubisoft We all know the inventory needs to be worked on, vehicles need work, and cheating needs to be minimized... We also know that they're working on these, as well as the above. Simply because information doesn't confirm EVERY expectation of yours, doesn't mean it's not an update.

Finding two vehicles at spawn point is worse than finding one, but still better then finding none. Getting used to Mi17 glitch is easy. Just do not move if you appear inside the chopper after getting out. Login to another server instead, make few steps away, and login back. Or just die, if you prefer hardcore roleplay. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.

apologies for ideas/suggestions that have most probably been thought of and written before this post, i don't have the time or patience to read through all of them :). im just going to outline a few of my main ideas: vehicles: - primarily there should be more of them on the map. i understand people's concerns of more vehicles seeing as the map is not overly massive (still the chernaurus map) but wouldn't it be awesome setting up ambushes or seeing another vehicle and have a high speed pursuit? however parts should be much rarer, being found only in some industrial building (rare) and commercial garages, not residential ones (higher chance). also fuel would obviously be much harder to come by than in the dayz mod. not saying there should be a limited amount as that would again decrease amount of vehicles actually used but to make only a few places able to get fuel from, like fuel depots, and some military encampments, or upturned fuel tankers, as well as being able to siphon fuel out of un burnt car wrecks (with the correct equipment). - cars should also be customize-able you should be able to add racks to the roof of your cars to increase there carrying capacity. also cars carrying more objects would slow you're car down, as added weight would slow it down. and when you reach 50 objects inside a car you can keep adding but substitute a car seat for every 10 items say? you could also add scrap metal and other objects to the exterior of your car to make eg a shovel thing on front of your car ( like in Zombieland :D , awesome movie ) and grills on your window, again substituting speed for added protection. could also put in a big fuel tank in stead of back seats for extra mileage? - kind of an incentive to bulk up your car against zombies is to have vehicles both take damage form zombies when stationary (when your in them) and when you plow into/through them. maybe with hull and wheels taking damage, and a small percentage of your engine cutting out from zombie parts clogging it up. this would make people a lot more cautious about driving into towns and hoards knowing they could end up stranded surrounded by a tonne of zombies. and not using vehicles as an easy way to clear out zombies from an area. bases: - despite the idea of subterranean bases i would much rather bases be above ground. for instance it would be much better to have a gate and be able to park your car inside your base instead of having to hide your car under a camo net next to a tree. and this would also allow you to have such things as watchtowers and make other cool additions to your base. - base parts should be relatively hard to come by and unless small like the tools eg hammer and nails would have to be transported by a vehicle (you would not see someone running around with 20 wooden chipboards on their back? :) ). - there should only be a certain number of bases per server ( like 10 ) to stop the server having a ridiculous amount and not being able to walk 1km before seeing one. also they should only be buildable in certain sections of the map. mainly the black forest (probs would be very popular), the fields south of vybor, and the forests covering the west and north of the map, as well as not being allowed to be built closer than say 2km form settlements and other bases. - bases should not be enterable by other players (i no not very realistic but they would be really easy to find and subsequently loot). however they could be attacked by zombies, any zombies within sight line of it would wander over an investigate, and if anyone is inside at the time the zombie would attack the base, would take a long time for zombie to break in, maybe an hour? so if a hoard sees your base and your in it ....... If a zombie attacks it will not stop until it is in even if you disconnect, forcing you to deal with it. and if zombies break in and you do not repair your base within the day the base becomes open to everyone for a week, a derelict base (you can retrieve your stuff and such but so can other players). - and to stop servers having pointless bases you must have at least one other person to make a base and everyone is only allowed one base each(shared), so that there are still servers where people who haven't bought the game straightway can build in. possibly could have 1 man bases but have to be small, so the more people you have the bigger your base can become. i have other ideas but only wrote about ideas i really want to see in the standalone and im not sure have been posted about :D hope these have or will be implemented into it! -

Sorry i forgot to mention yes it is a public Hive. thank you very much i shall read both links:) What about vehicles which have been teleported but were injected by the server? would I be able to find them in a similar way to finding out a players location? -

Yea that thing never spawns on my server. I bet it only spawned on my server when it first came out and when razor first ran the script on my servers to bring back broken vehicles.

So, I have had multiple occasions when vehicles explode, but I thought it was just if the engine was red and you crashed it could explode, but I had a car and it was all green except the fuel tank, and I stopped in the middle of a field on completely empty server to restart my computer, so I stopped and got off, and the moment I did, It just exploded. Just like that. So I was wondering if that's because of the fuel tank that caused it? Thanks.

Question Regarding Locking Servers During Reboots

Greetings, I've read quite a few posts on these forums and understand that it is against the TOS for public/official hive servers to be locked. However, I have a question/problem regarding routine reboots/maintenance. Sometimes when I restart my server, I get complaints from players that their tents and vehicles didn't spawn. When this happens, I restart the server again and they usually reappear. I've noticed that this happens most when players connect to the restarted server too soon. It seems like the server has not fully finished initializing or connecting to the HIVE or something. If I restart my server, when there are no players and give it a few minutes before connecting, I don't see this problem. I would like to lock the server, long enough to let the reboot process finish completely and cleanly. Currently, I use a custom Admin tool that I wrote and I added a "Server Locked for Reboot" function that works. However, the user still connects to the server and is then kicked with the message "The Server is Currently Locked for Reboot." I would rather Lock the server via the #Lock command at the server level. That way the user would never connect to the server and potentially interrupt the restart process. However, I would be violating the TOS as my server would appear locked and I would no doubt be flamed for being an abusive admin. I can always stick to the way I am handling it now, but thought I would poll the community for ideas and thoughts. Thanks, Splinter -
well we have all played Chernarus and well to be honest i think i and quite a few others are bored to death with it so i thought that DayZ origins should be the main map or maybe as an expansion pack later on because not only is it a new map with better looking zombies and the Hardcore "Patient Zero" Zombie but you can also build houses, garages etc and that brings alot of fun into the game when people are bored of running into a city just to get mauled or be shot. It has customised vehicle like boats with wheels, special helicopters and you can put armor on some vehicles when you find Reinforcing metal on the ground and can prevent bandits from destroying tyres and windshields. I have played on alot of the mods for DayZ and have to say that Origins is the best so far.

"Because it came as a package deal with dual debug monitors, as well as esp cut down on the time to test care package and crash site testing. I'm sure you could understand not wanted to fly around the map for half an hour every time a fix was pushed. Not to mention HALO jumps, kill messages, study body and to an extent even auto refuel (for gathering vehicles at one pump for testing)." -Rave The admin debug will be locked so that everyone has the same thing. We simply had it to see our options and impliment features to everyone accordingly. If people have a problem with this we would be more than happy to remove it completely. However, just keep in mind this may result in losing features such as altitude in the debug until we figure something else out. -

What does ACE change compared to the original game? * Improved IR Strobe simulation. IR Strobes can be attached to players and vehicles, can be re-used and preplaced by mission designers via special functions. * Improved flare simulation that makes flares visible in daylight. * Improved explosion effects. Explosions don't just create a whistle in your ears like in the original game, but they also can knock you out, blind you and make you deaf. * Realistic working laser rangefinding devices. No magic range display. * Realistic bullet trajectory depending on the type of ammunition and barrel length of the weapon. * Realistic rocket ballistics. Rockets hava a parabolic flight trajectory like in real life. And now i can not imagine playing arma2 without ACE2. Chernarus isn't safe anymore, if zombies aren't trying to eat your face, bandits are trying to shoot it off. If it's a public hive server give this a read: dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/120666-dayz-server-administration-guide/ You should quite easily be able to find any spawned in vehicle in the hiveext.log file. Private hive servers (depending on the hoster) might have some kind of admin tool available, but I dont have any knowledge of those since our server is a public 1. The radar has always been weird. While playing on Arma, Radar detects things what aren't even there, like wrecks/dismounted vehicles what have despawned.

the problem didn't disappear. playing on the "united-warriors" server I don't see the helicopter. my friends see it. the helicopter can damage me. (all Vehicles which I don't see in game, in the editor it is visible)

Hello I'm a new Admin now first off all if vehicles seem to spawn doubles. I'm not bothered about this as it means more people can find or have vehicles. If this is against the rules I would like to know. The bigger issue is that we have had a group of hackers on who teleported all 6 of the helis to there base which I am unable to find to destroy. As well as a large majority of other vehicles. I am wondering if there is a pay to teleport or reset just those vehicles to their original spawn points or a way for me to find out roughly where they have put them all. I have tried resetting and also restarting the server but this had no effect. I kniw they were teleported because i sat 3 different accounts next to all 6 helis. Logged off for 10 minutes and logged on whilst the suspected hackers were on all 6 were gone and players reported that a ural and hummer disappeared whilst they were at base. Please help thank you
