    DayZ Standalone Discussion

    I think there's many things that may make people think twice about shooting on sight now (although many will still play like that because they like it) but I don't think base-building or vehicles have anything to do with it. More things to do, less ammo (so that you have to think about every bullet you use) and a more complex survival system are more important in my opinion.

Revolvers !! anything from the original single action nagants [double actions were availible, originally russian army issue] to the humble .38 and 22lr target pistols up to the bigger 357 and 44 magnums. If making 357 or 44 mag revolvers then implement 38 or 44 special ammo which deals slightly less damage but less recoil. Everything you can think of in regards to revolvers. Non-semi auto rifles. pump actions, lever actions [wild west much], bolt actions in every different caliber and makes imaginable. Shotguns included in this suggestion. In every caliber possible from 22lr up to 458 win mag [and any in between] with calibers making all the difference in a way. weapon modding - wanna cut down that 870? or put a stock on that peacemaker? why? for teh lulz [and increased manuverability/ accuracy]. Cut down that double barrel [should be able to be equiped as a secondary if shortened enough] and breach that locked door, put a thermal scope on a lee enfield all you need is a tool box. More vehicles, everything from com-bloc era Ladas [and older] to the current day Family cars, 4x4s and higher performance models. Modding of them too with higher performance parts and better suspension. Use a flashlight along with a weapon without the need for it to be mounted, [ductape if it is needed on a rifle?] Also it doesn't need to be practical if you can use it well and you think it is cool! *starts dreaming of the day he could carry a 44 magnum/BHP, a high quality lever action and cruise around with a M14AIM & Mossy590 in the boot of his modded up car ingame*

    Custom vehicles explode on my server! Help?

    Yeah it's back to default now though. It just sent me to that loading screen when I deleted that hacker thing. But I checked on openDayZ.net and from what I've found I can do it with MySQL and Navicat. So I installed both (Note I installed MySQL from oracle and some sort of DayZ recommended one because if there is one I can't find it) and watched this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mwKsBDMkYY and everything that popped up for me didnt pop up at all. I tried one last time to spawn the banned vehicles from the Control Panel on DayZ.ST and it finally worked! It never worked before for some reason. All the vehicles are driveable as well so I'm quite happy :DD
  5. Vehicles already have this because players move them around. I want it to be mimiced by the server for items.
  6. Hello Dayz world, i need help customizing my server i thought i could do it when i made the purchase i sadly realize now how wrong i was. I am looking for an experienced admin for any help they could provide. i don't not understand how to insert scripts into my server for additional functions such as auto refuel or ai bandits etc. or how to create custom spawn points for vehicles and customise loadouts spawn point and other such details of player characters. i can skype or any other mode of communication necessary.     My two cents

    I've been enjoying the mod for a good while (not quite since launch but almost) and all the while I've been thinking what could make DayZ even more awesome. My primary concern regarding DayZ and the standalone is that the game has become much less about playing tactically to survive, instead it turned into zerging towns and villages for loot. Now, I understand that the game becomes more "figured out" the more people play it, new and more efficient tactics are born, but right now the game is abused far too much, For example: when I started playing, I used to sneak around, go prone around zombies, trying to do everything possible not to be seen or aggro. The game was very tense as you never really knew when the zombies might decide to turn around and see you... But after a while, you figure out that instead of sneaking around and "wasting time" you could be much more efficient by simply running past zombies, getting in and out of buildings without a scratch, looting and leaving the town in a matter of seconds. I've been reading posts reacting to the recent patch which introduced high risk of infection from zombies and from what I gather this is a rather pointless update - allow me to explain. You can only get infected if you get hit... Problem is, any player worth his salt will be able to stay out of zombie's range at all times - running in and out of buildings, zig-zagging through trees, never getting surrounded etc. Now I know you could make the game artificially difficult for yourself, but that's not the point. The game is currently far too easy. I would suggest increasing the speed of zombies to be a little bit faster than player's default running speed - however, player's sprinting should be faster than zombie's speed. If you simply can't get away and lose zombies - i.e around a corner - you would have to play much more tactical and this will do far more than simply increasing zombie's damage or increasing infection rate. My other idea is the aquisition of "skill" over time from doing basic tasks such as cleaning a gun or applying bandages. I haven't got the entire thing figured out, but I'll try to explain with an example as I feel it will be easier to understand: Everyone would start with 0 base stats - and the stats would be hidden at all time. When you try to clean your weapon for the first time, the risk of breaking it or being unsuccessful is quite high (but on the other hand, the weapon would break anyhow if it wasn't cleaned, so it's not something that can be avoided). After managing to clean a basic weapon i.e a Makarov a number of times you gain said "skill" in weapon cleaning, This will increase the efficiency with which you clean your gun and allow you to successfully clean a sub machine gun such as a PPsH. The said skill would eventually allow you to be a very efficient and be able to maintain high-end weapons such as a sniper rifle or a light machine gun. A side perk of "gunsmith" skill should for example be home-made gun modifications - i.e extended mag. This could also apply to vehicles, starting with basic screen and wheel repairs allowing you to build up your skill until you can ultimately use scrap metal and other parts to improve your vehicle by plating windows (leaving tiny slits for the driver) to protect the car crew from medium machine gun fire. For a medic stat the "ultimate" level of skill would allow you to craft wooden support for a broken leg allowing limping in case of a broken leg and lack of morphine. These are just rough ideas that would need to be looked into further by the dev team, but they are something that I myself would love to see in-game. I would also like to add that while "boosting" for skill is possible, the game would have to require a large amount of skill points for each tier to unlock each "tier". My next suggestion is regarding loot spawns. MAKE THEM RARE! Especially guns. In mods such as "breaking point" guns are plentyful. This is not good. Having a Makarov should feel like it is your day, and finding and AKM perhaps means you're the chosen one. Rare spawns = good! And onto my final point - make the coast an undesirable location to be in. Elektro and Cherno should have little loot spawns - medical supplies MAX! People should not be able to get armed to the teeth and pvp in those location. Also, big cities need to have A LOT of zombies. The combination of little loot and large zombie hores will lead to a huge decrease in coast pvp and motivate players to get the hell off the coast and explore. Anyway that's my two cents.

    Building my first camp/stash

    If you're just making a sandbag stash and not keeping any vehicles or tents in the area than I would suggest making it sort of close to a common spawn point, make it far but close enough that if you spawn in you can get to your stash rather easily. Don't make it directly north of Cherno, Elektro, or Balota. It will be found much quicker by people on their way up north. Try to find 2 trees close together, 2 bushes close together, or a bush and a tree close together and try to put it under them. Using those tactics my friend made a stash that hasn't been found while he was on vacation for 3 weeks, and several weeks after it is still not found.

    I gave them apaches cause i once read that AI can't see left/right properly, hueys have side gunners so they were pretty useless, apache has a front gunner and they were nasty :lol: But they are pretty thick and commited suicde a lot, ArmA 3 AI are a lot better and even more so when used with extra scripts, fingers crossed we get some top quality missions when the game hits RC. You shouldn't ever remove that line, add new rules but not remove, you've left the server vunerable to scripters now :( Vehicles must have a database entry, it records the damage, inventory and most importantly the coordinates, you can't get away with adding banned vehicles this way as the ban list of vehicles are client side. Dayz.st does allow you to add many extra vehicles that other hosts can't, there was once a list on opendayz.net listing them all if you search.

  11. In private hives u can get help from admins.. i gotta play in those servers cuz it won't let me play official.. its not so fun cuz the admin teleport ppl to where they want and he gives vehicles and it so sux that i can't be a part of normal server with challenge in it

The Graphics do look nice so far in my opinion. But most of those Animations still look quite bad and the Zeds still behave stupid and out of control which is quite a bummer. Hope we will see improvements on this parts fast. Because as of now this "Standalone" still looks like a mod with many bugs. Nothing which would encourage me to buy it. I'd expect more of a standalone, features like Origins got them with more vehicles and modifications on those. Not only weapon mods. Which is nice but doesnt suite the whole "Im a normal person trying to survive" purpose. I do hope there will be more to do then just trying to stay alive or killing each other.
  15. Posted a bug right after my last post. The bug forum is moderated and my bug has not been posted, nor have I gotten a reply acknowledging receipt or explaining its denial. Since that time, all of my vehicles show more wheels then they appear to (and used to) have. Something is wrong somewhere. Does anyone know what it could be if its not a bug?
  16. A sloth in a hero skin would be amazing. On a more serious note something cool imo would be a survivor standing in the middle of a highway. The clouds are dark and stormy with a little visible lightning out in the distance. Blood flows across the highway and stops in a large puddle at the survivor's feet. In the distance to the right there are many destroyed vehicles, tanks, and choppers. Some fires and smoke still blaze from one or two of the vehicles. Bodies are also scattered everywhere. Some bodies are still intact but most have limbs missing. To the left you can see the remains of a large city in the distance beyond some woods. Possible chernarous. The survivor himself is injured. His face is battle hardened however he has visible cuts, bruises, and burns across his body. His clothes are torn and blood stained and he has a bandage wrapped around his left arm. He is visibly well geared though. He has an M4A1 hanging from his right hand. An M9 in a pistol holster on his right thigh. A grenade attached to his jacket and a bandoleer holding stanag mags and other random items. A hatchet, crowbar, and other items can be seen in his backpack. On the top in the clouds there would be "DayZ" in greyish white color. On the bottom would be something like, "Pushing survival to the limits"

    I don't mean spawn items. I see ppl ask things while game.and guess what. They get it. Some ppl are taken to vehicles locations by admins and stuff. Anyway i can't enter official servers because "Bad CD key" error.

    Are you adding the vehicles via the editor ? that is why they blow up, you must add them through the database. Did you change their skill setting Applejaxc ? on our old server (no longer running) we had Rmod and upped their skill and gave them an apache :o they were shit hot and great fun The file you refer to is called server_cleanup.fsm :)

    The ability to use items in vehicles was removed because of duping, you could eat the same tin of beans repeatedly giving back full health.

    NEW BUILDING: THE MUSEAM

    Ah, Hallo everybody... Now this won't be available in the current dayz, But in the standalone I have a suggestion. THE MUSEAM: The museum will be found in a main city, it will have a downstairs section with dinosaurs, in this area you will find food, medicine etc.... In the upper level there is a modern history area, in here you will find old WW2 guns and maybe helmets, in here you will find tents, guns ammunition...Downstairs there is the car park, very rarely vehicles will be in there, left of that is the medieval area, this is we're there will be a majority of melee weapons, such as axes etc... On the top level there will be a research centre this place may hold antibiotics etc... If you guys have any advice for this, than please state it... AND REMEMBER ZE GRAMMAR!

  22. You spawn in with a tazer and some pain killers. Loot and vehicles is very quick and easy to find.

    You need to change your anti-cheat to allow non-DZ Database items into the game. It's somewhere in your Mysql's or some RTP-related file and it should say something like (and I'm not making this up), "Parachute -something- spawned at (coordinates), killing hacker..." and you have to replace that and a related line with a script exception for your custom vehicles. At least, that's the only way I could get Sergeant's AI-spawned bandit helicopter patrols to work... which was all wasted effort, because the AI helicopters were awful; they couldn't be shot down or really hurt anyone.
