  2. I'm not going to lie and say I've never broken character, or that I have a believable Cherno-Russian accent, or that I've never forgotten a fact and had to make it up on the fly. That being said, when I play DayZ I have a persona, an alter ego, a character whose identity I assume and act through. Artyom Slavloski Because Rocket hasn't established the timezone/setting for DayZ past Chernarus yet, and because I have the conscious right to ignore any interpretative information discoverable in the stand alone... My version of DayZ involves a sociopolitical group of chauvinists and "Hyper survivalists" that basically take over every crime ring that anyone cares about and puts members in key positions of power around the world (First Socialist Partymen became defence contractors in charge of KAC, H&K... the company that makes airplanes I can't remember the name of) and their continuous shenanigans distracted the world from the slowly growing zombie threat until it was too late. FSP soldiers that lost contact with home base became bandits, FSP soldiers that remained in contact with some of Base of Operations became super organized bandits, killing and looting entire towns. The FSP is, essentially, the zombie apocalypse x2... with guns. So Artyom Slavloski served in the Russian Military during (I'll decide what conflict-or make one up-when people come to some kind of consensus as to what year DayZ takes place in-) and became an Orley (essentially, what all the Russian KGB agents in the Ukraine became after the soviet collapse) and developed skills beyond shooting things (negotiation, bandaging, first aid, stealth, B&E) and made his primary job kicking the FSP out of the Ukraine before Yugoslavia invaded the Czech Republic after they made trouble for his brother/mother. Well Artyom's replacement boss (after his first was supposedly assassinated in relation to key Orange Revolution members, but really taken out by the FSP so he could be replaced) had FSP connections and decided to send Artyom out of Sevastopol and Kiev (where he had been working on busting up FSP-related port smuggling and drug trafficking) to bumfuck nowhere, Chernarus. There was plenty of work, of course; after the American-Chenaran-Russian conflict in 2013 (or whenever ArmA2 takes place) thousands of Ak47s, AKMs, and the like were in Chernarus, creating a helluva lot of trouble for the local police. Artyom came to know the south-east of Chernarus very well, as well as the mid-west where the Chernarus Penitentiary used to be... before the day of zombies, when everything went to hell. That day was actually very interesting. Artyom was sitting on his tiny bolted-to-the-wall, hard-as-bricks bed fidgeting with his satellite phone trying to call his mother (Isabel Slavloski) because he'd forgotten his brother's phone number (again) and had promised to call him on his birthday. His mother didn't pick up (which was odd, because in her time zone it wasn't 4AM), so he put the phone down and wondered why the usual yellow streetlamp light had been replaced by orange-red flickering. He split the blinds of his window and saw a squad car crashed into one of the adjacent buildings to where he was staying, on fire, with one door ripped off the hinges. The rest of that morning and afternoon was him getting a shotgun and bean bag-rounds out of the armory, looking to see what the hell was going on, running like hell when the bean bags did almost nothing against the infected, nearly being eaten, and a lot of running east. Now he's wandering around Chernarus, trying to establish a quasi military group of trained professionals armed well enough to restore peace to Chernarus. He has the training to lead, to shoot, and to survive. All he needs are the friends and the weapons to do it with. His intended armor (that picture was bigger than expected) Expected gear: M9 (or any police issue pistol), shotgun, anti-terrorist worthy sniper rifle (any military grade bolt action, essentially), and a AKM for firearms. Taser/knife/explosives. Just because Artyom used to be a cop doesn't mean he won't throw an IED at some bandits. Artyom Slavloski doesn't tolerate crime. Murder/rape/assault/theft = death sentence. FSP affiliation or ideology = death. Refusal to allow Artyom to "Requisition vehicles, equipment, weapons, supplies, and/or a vehicle with fuel to restore order and complete the master plan for Chernarus." What's YOUR DayZ character? Back story, mannerisms, likes/dislikes, favorite load out, favorite vehicle, favorite place to hang out? Why does s/he have the skills s/he does? (Good at shooting, travelling, medicine, natural leader, et cetera)

  5. If you actually look at my post then you will see I was quoting somebody else who was brining up the date thing. I didn't just magically bring it out of nowhere for the sake of being an asshole/idiot like you are assuming, Every time someone is going to be posting bullshit about not missing any dates ect, know that I might respond to set the record straight. While Dean has certainly "explained" his decision I certainly don't agree with it, plain simple. Is it so hard to think that he is wrong? That is the point. When he was doing more regular updates I was happy with the fact that he was doing it. but after being shafted with no info over and over again it is clear that it doesn't fucking work. Everything is going smoothly? Are we talking about the same game? The game that looks exactly like the mod, will not have vehicles and probably suffers from the same bugs albeit being delayed for months? Yeah, no problems, no problems at all. Give yourself a cookie for reading my post out of context. I was clearly referring to it as a PR disaster

  7. Howdy! we have our own heavily modified dayz server. Our DayZ server has AI survivors that roam chernarus and each one is either a bandit, neutral or friendly. The AI act just like player survivors and can even get into vehicles. The server also has increased vehicle and loot spawns. The server is called Gamers Paradise Dayz.. or you can just search Gowdy in the server search Come check us out! our administration panel do not abuse powers and actually enjoy helping people tour the wastes!

    POONTANG UK is Back! EPOCH!

    Firstly let me state that our group had seen many what we would call legitimate, helping players spawned in walls or miles out in the sea to returning keys for vehicles lost on a server restart, admin interventions on this server. Hence our surprise at the decisions of yesterday and the reason I was reluctant to post a warning to any groups planning on making a home on this server, that was up until Razorman's response to our "butthurt". Yesterday 4 key decisions made us realise we had wasted or time on this server. 1) An individual wearing clan tags shot at one of our group who was driving an Armoured SUV near pogoda dam and was promptly run over, he then begged and received a revive from Razorman, then he again tried to shoot up the ARMOURED SUV and yet again met his demise under its wheels. Upon questioning the decision to revive my group member was told not to be a prick and run people over. tl:dr make bad choices get revived. 2) After acquiring an m110 tws from an individual who had an unfortunate RTC with one of our group we hunted for several days to find a vendor who would buy the weapon with none to be found. I queried Razorman as to a suitable location and he stated I had found his gun. Shortly afterwards the gun was added by the admin to the hero vendor store. My question would be if nothing is spawned in how did the gun exist!? tl;dr admins have guns unavailable in the store and the game but don't spawn stuff in 3) Our little convoy of 3 Armoured SUV's drove past Razorman and Axeman on NE airfield enroute to klen to finally buy the items needed for base building, one of our group realised he needed to check the western barracks for some more ammo and had to drive back past them. At this point either one or both of them engaged my group member causing damage to him, I engaged them and killed them with the turret. We then decided to loot the bodies after all admins know the locations of the best loot right? Imagine our surprise when a 3rd person in the same location again shot at us, imagine our even greater surprise when we kill this individual to see that Axeman has died again 5ft from his body within 2 minutes on northeast airfield??? Now Razorman states rape we would argue self defence against stupidity. We decided to bug out and go get our base building supplies. Klen trading point like most on this server has the rule no fighting or killing, while buying our supplies we heard but not saw what sounded like a jet engine in the vicinity of northeast airfield, this stopped after a short while and a different engine started up. This engine turned out to be a biplane piloted by axeman (who for the 2nd time seems to have spawned fully geared at NE airfield?) who, against server rules, divebombs us in the "safezone" trading post. How do we know it was him, well unfortunately this server kicks when an aircraft blows up. tl;dr admin and friend die out of sheer stupidity the friend gets revived twice then breaks server rules 4) After highlighting the rule breaking to Razorman we were told he couldn't control his friend (who we were still under the assumption was an admin too) and "Boo Hoo". Really so butt hurt that the breaking of server rules is permitted, with the admin losing nothing more than time they demonstrate that when it comes to their own playstyle they prefer to play like hackers. ....... TL;DR This is their trainset and how they run things is their choice, but if considering investing your own time in this server beware, the admins can and do help but will play as hackers, my advise play elsewhere unless game glitches are your biggest foe in Dayz.

    Playing on a non vanilla server is a big sin! Having all those added buildings/loot/vehicles makes it no fun for me at least. But I guess people will do what they please.
  10. Hey guys! I found an amazing community in the DayZ world, they're known as GreyZ. I just started out on their servers and they have active and really nice admins that are willing to help you out when (for example) you die due to a game bug, they will get you back to your gear, if that is of course you want them too! There has never been a hacker on any of the servers! Their anti-hacks must be crazy insane! And they have got servers with a mod called 'Epoch', it's so much fun! You buy/sell vehicles, food, drink, medicals and more! the best part is that you can build a base!!!! You can craft sand bag bunkers, steel fences, gates, camo netting and so much more! It's like the people of the cities have adapted to the apocalypse! And they also have Breaking Point, DayZ Chernarus, Epoch Panthera, Epoch Taviana and Epoch Chernarus! Just filter 'GreyZ' for all the servers, enjoy!

The higher the damage to the part the higher the chance the part will break and be destroyed. Siphon Fuel- Fill Empty Jerry Cans on vehicles if they have enough fuel. Infected Player Skills Raise Horde- Calls all zombies to your location within 100m.(zombies will detect and attack the infected player) Attack- Short range melee attack causes bleeding, broken legs and/or infection Feed - Only way to gain health is by feeding on dead players or wild animals. Our main priority has been increasing variations all over. You can come across 60+ weapons, a huge variety of vehicles, and new custom RP items such as cigarettes or vodka. We believe this will result in increased trading and interaction between players, and it offers a wide range of RP opportunities. But don't get it wrong, we also had the lone-wolf in mind. To increase the experience of average gameplay, we've rewritten the loot-table. You'll really feel the presence of the infected, you'll feel the absence of food, and you'll really push your limits far beyond what you are used to. Fatigue - The fatigue mod does exactly what you'd think it does: it wears you off if you're carrying too much weight. Items that would weigh much in real life, will weigh much in the game as well. You won't be running around with all spare parts for your car in your backpack to put it that way. NPC Cleaning Groups - Patrols of anti-infection cleaning squads are spread around the map. These are hostile to any survivor, and one should keep a distance. Vehicles - We've added a lot of new custom cars, such as new trucks, new pickups and a Survivor Humvee. We've also retextured and recolored many of the existing cars, to make them more unique and personal for the owners. That good old GAZ might just be interesting after all! Weapons - For the weapon freaks out there, chances are you'll find your favorite weapon with our mod. We have as many as 65 types of weapons laying around all over the map. Custom areas- To spice up the map, we removed all the the randomly generated overlapping debris that was in the DayZ mod to begin with, and added new interesting areas to scavenge. Permanent camps- We also offer permanent camps here at Apocalypse RP. We won't to go into detail right here, but it basically means that you can build a camp that will be implemented directly to the map - and you can make it pretty cozy!

    Yes Dayz Commander is a must. I would personally get familiar with Vanila Dayz servers Then when you are comfy check out some private hives. Private Hives tend to be a lot more "gamey" these servers have LOADS of vehicles and bunches of other added things, check em out here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/64-private-hive-discussion/ Remember your character will keep everything when switching in between official servers. Private hives or unofficial servers your character and gear stay exclusively on that one server. PM me if you have any problems.
  13. The last I heard of it Matt said that vehicles are cut from the initial release during his E3 DayZ reveal video. Is there new news on this? I was just using GTA as an over the top example there... No of course not... But it doesn't do the game any favors to have features cut out compared to the mod does it?
  14. Whoa whoa the mod has nothing to do with this. I'm not saying vehicles can't be in the (or any) alpha. I'm saying if they have reasons for removing or adding certain features, that's what the hell an alpha is for. You can't just say that anything in the mod should be in the standalone alpha release. That's ridiculous.
  15. I was refering to the fact you said it would be released without vehicles. Nothing has been confirmed. The latest info was that they may port the vehicles in as they are now and then remove/swap them later when they get overhauled to allow for customisation etc. If you're expecting them to handle like they do in GTA then you're setting yourself up for disapointment. That's one of the biggest games in the world with a massive focus on driving :/. The carpets for the new interiors probably won't look as good as The Sims either.
  16. You're talking about individual features like vehicles now? It's alpha. As stated above, they're trying to get rid of some game breaking bugs. Fuck vehicles. They're the last thing on my mind for an alpha release. You have gone from being critical about the release to being critical about the game itself. No one is forcing you to stay if you really don't like it and have no faith in it. What is the point you're trying to make? That the game is going to suck and that the development team is incompetent? Fine. Everyone is quite excited that you feel that way.

    POONTANG UK is Back! EPOCH!

    I've been on this server the past week playing and enjoying it, until I came across the admins on North East Airfield. It started off with both of them putting many rounds into my SUV trying to kill me, my two friends jumped to action and quickly intervened and my friends shot them both. during the process of looting the corpses, we found TONS of gold, and pretty much all tools, as well as the top weapons and gear. Fair enough... Not minutes later, we hear shots again, then some aggro. we followed and shot the person, it was one of the admins my friends had killed not two minutes ago, a minute or two after that, more shots, we know it was Razor, as Axeman would of been reviving himself once again. We decided to leave because the admins were obviously abusing their power. We went to Klen to repair our vehicles, sell some items and buy new stuff such as a new vault. Being close to the airfield where all this just happened, we heard a Jet, as clear as a bell, but I guess, the admins would suck at shooting us in that, so they decided to spawn a Biplane, and fly it into our 3 SUV's because they got the asses kicked off of them. the person in the Biplane was Axeman, we know because he got kicked for ejecting, and while doing so, they broke a rule they have on the server. "No killing at trade points" I'd suggest trying another server, you'll only regret spending time on it, getting geared and every thing else, to end up falling victim to these two idiotic, scumbag admins.
  19. Spawned near Balota, when scavenging there I got killed by a few well armed guys... Next spawn, also near Balota. I run back to see if they are still there. Two of the well armed players are standing next to their military offroad vehicle with their *** in their hands.. I dunno.. I just run around the corner, jump in their car and drive off.. Hilarious right? General chat was suddenly filled with: You have a hackers car, it must be destroyed.. So I replied, sure, i'll drive it off a cliff. Then the guy said: I had to return it where I took it... So I thought, BS, you just want your car back... It was a damaged common car with less then half a tank full of gas. Wouldn't a hacker have it filled up I asked... So, a few minutes later, after driving over some bandits, I get kicked with the message: I told you you should give it back.. This server is adminned by tards... Stay away from it unless you can kiss some serious ass in German.. DayZ German Hometown [More vehicles][More weapons][but not for you]

    Chocolate Milk - Namalsk(0.741) [Private]

    Server is great. Expect to have a great time as this is one of the best Namalsk servers out there. The only problem with this server is an admin named Yami. He plays favorites with a group of derp faces he plays with and advocates his group hacking. I've seen him spawn vehicles in for his buddies so watch out for this scummy sack of trash. Other than this guy, other admins are fair and just. Just a note, Yami only plays when other admins aren't on so that he can spawn in jets and gauss rifles for his friends (one of which I'm pretty sure has downs syndrome COL.Flaggot or something)
  21. All private hive vehicles (former Bliss) are supported. With unknown vehicles you may experience some problem with vehicle damageable parts. Teleport. There is less and less teleport thanks to the anti-teleport background task on clientside. Former obvious solutions were using setpos command, or attaching your own body to a (far) remote object. Using 'drag body' for example. This can't be done as easily. However, there is still a weakness with the debug area. BE filters can't be an efficient solution to detect that. Your only hope is using scripts.txt, but it's a clientside filter so it can be bypassed. Current filter logs unexpected use of setpos and attachto. Don't expect miracles. Preset Gear. scripts.txt logs unexpected use of addweaponcargo and addmagazinecargo, and players can be kicked. However, this can be bypassed too. If the pattern is always the same, you can detect it in hiveext.log. The Character ID is logged with the pattern. You can match this Character ID (CID) with arma2oaserver.RPT log file. Lines with "LOGIN PUBLISHING" log player's CID UID and name.
