    dayz orgins and epoch

    You can have multiples. I have an Epoch Server without self blood bag and 1000+ vehicles and such for when we want something to do. We are constructing a base there and the mod really fits my loot whore friend's style of play where he gathers everything. I play Vanilla just because it is fun and difficult. I also play Origins alone because I wanted to try a map I hadn't played on so when no one else is logged on I will sometimes wander over to there and just run around exploring.

    Agreed. I don't hate "higher vehicle" servers I hate servers edited by people who don't know how (or don't want to) make vehicles spawn broken and in need of repair I wouldn't even mind if a FEW worked on spawn. heck not every vehicle in you neighborhhod would spontaneously break down if everyone were gone for a few months now would it? But these guys who are just trying to steal impatient immature players from one another to whore donations with "ZOMG 5000 Vehicles!" "Attack helis!" "SPAWN WITH A FRIGGEN TANK!" its all crap and ruins the challenge of suriving when you can be a boss within 15 mins of spawn with everything you need. and that brings up another thing- its not just the Vehicles it all the other crap those servers typically have Like donors spawn with DMR, etc. it all leads to an environment where theres no incentive to actually play smart and careful at all.

    quality > quantity. That really was me deciding reason in leaving my last community. I (and the sort of players I enjoy playing WITH) prefer a Hard and brutal challenging experience not a 24/7 herp de derp easy mode. Any time I go to a server and see things like "XXXX helicopters" "500 CARS" "Start with *insert engame weaponry here*" I don't even connect. Just last night a friend of mine (who I know IRL) asked me to join them on a server I punched in the IP in the browser to find "Over 500 Vehicles + Attack choppers and Donor packs!" I made that person come play official hive with me instead. they just LOST a player because of that stupid money grab ;) and that makes me happy.

You're quite welcoem to check out our DayZcraft server (link in signature). it's an Epoch survival/hardcore server, mostly PvE (because the current levels of population) but there are at least two bandit groups active on the server among our 6 or 7 dedicated groups active. You start with just 1 bandage, there are a few Points of interest added to the map but no stupid map updates like 20 barracks in cherno, you need to really search for loot! No choppers spawn randomly, any choppers you find are what other players have either bought or stolen - even then they are very rare as they are very expensive! Standard vehicles do spawn (about 200 scattered about the map) but usually need repairs and theyre scattered about - you dont fall over them on every street! There's only a few decent scripts such as some AI bandits/Survivors spawning occasionally in hot spots about the map, towing/cargo and . Nothing like auto refuel scripts etc. No crosshairs enabled, there are increased zombie numbers (so they swarm and are genuinely a threat!) and I'm the only administrator that has access to full admin tools but there re a few members who have rcon moderation rights (to kick/ban) but, so far we've not had many issues with hackers. Prices for goods are better balanced on our server too with stuff like Night vision available (in limited numbers) but costing a lot of Gold! Basically anything that makes surviving easier costs a lot of resources and takes time - so no just buying great gear after 10 mins of playing! Many of the very best kit cant be bought too (such as Large gun bags), they only spawn and need to be scavenged! The traders on our server serve mostly to sell scavenged gear and to provide some more building supplies for building/fortifying your stonghold. Its a good server and plays out well. You might also want to check out the Moustache Gaming servers which are bit more PvP, have a better population and really well administrated. Good luck fidning a server though

    Chaos, you sound like someone who has a taste for the 'narrative of DayZ'. I'm part of a small but diverse group that is playing DayZ Origins, which is a mod that I think will help you transition into regular DayZ quite well. Here are some things about it: There is house building, so you can store stuff you need for later.We play a mix of Bandits and Heroes. The Humanity system in Origins is really simple and, as you get better, you get some pretty cool skins.We have plenty of guns and are always looting barracks/airfields for more.Expect to go out on repetive loot runs. But unlike other DayZ mods, you get to store your well-earned rewards in a secure place.There is a vehicle system that will make it easier for you to learn how to fix vehicles, as well as fly/drive them. You'll get more hands on experience with driving/repairing vehicles in 1-2 weeks of Origins than you will with 1-3 months of regular DayZ (considering that you are a beginner).It becomes more PVP-MMO like. Think of it as a Fallout 3+DayZ+WoW mixture. You're surviving but you have a small crew of companions+a base+storage to depend on. This results in a kind of narrative feel to Origins because not only are you always trying to survive, you're also trying to leave a 'legacy'. It's tribe oriented...not unlike what our ancestors used to do....but with guns and zombies (and mutants and AI Mercs and super zombies). In the end, it allows for more interaction with random players and clans. It forces you to do things you won't be too proud of, such as shooting innocent people who get too close to your rare gear, and it forces you to question your surroundings. Just because some group is a hero clan doesn't mean they won't shoot you, another hero, even if you do yell "friendly" at them and do you do the same in their shoes? Or just because one group is friendly now doesn't mean they won't turn their backs on you, do you swith allies to another group or continue? Those are just some of the ethical/moral dilemmas you'll encounter (moreso than regular DayZ) as you play. In the end, I really think you'll become a better player if you stick with us. That way, if you do decide to play regular DayZ as well, you will not only have more experience with the simple mechanics, but you'll be more familiar and efficient. It's the usual DayZ experience but at a much faster, movie-like pace. PM me if you're interested and I'll send you the TeamSpeak info.

    Looking for hardcore survivalist server that's hack free!

    so far dayzero podagorsk is the best for hardcore survival in my opinion. you start with a bandage, small backpack, and some painkillers. loot and and vehicles are extremely rare. the only 2 chat channels that you can access are direct and vehicle. the only downside is without a compass you have to be very careful you don't drift to far north because for whatever reason they left the northern half of the map empty besides an army base near the northern edge of the map. my first time playing I did this and wasted at least 4 hours before making it back. there are army bases but if you look at the loot chart on the website there is extremely low chance that any military grade weapons spawning. also every weapon is either tweaked or replaced along with many new guns being added. and many new clothing items are added as well.

    Should I Buy Dayz?

    It's better than WarZ in every aspect. There are still hackers, but they have moved elsewhere as the mod lost it's initial hype. The vanilla day/night cycle is a 24 hour cycle (just like real life) Epoch is DayZ, but it has a great base building, new vehicles, etc. It's really fun, but it also really destroys the traditional vanilla feel. Buy ArmA (not DayZ), and enjoy arma in itself, along with DayZ.

  11. For me it has to be Over watch. I love all the loot, there's so much to collect. Then there's the great variety of weapons and vehicles, and on top of all that there are usually crowds of AI to tackle too. It's not just the baddie bandit AI, I also love the friendly AI. I end up squealing about how cute they are when they rush over and get in my helicopter or car. Sometimes they won't get out and I have to fly around with them. A friend of mine almost had his heli pinched by an AI. He jumped in the heli and they kidnapped him, driving around with him for about half an hour. I'm amazed they didn't crash and kill him. They're quite good at that. :huh:

  14. Hello, Bean King! I'm experiencing several problems; are these easy fixes or would I need to submit a ticket? (1) When I move a player on the map from the Control Panel, I receive the pop-up saying "Survivor was moved", but then after about 3-4 seconds, the map shows them back where they were before. In-game, the player has not moved at all. (2) The command to Heal Player, once activated, generates a pop-up which reads "Survivor healed and infection removed. Refreshing players", but nothing happened and the player remains in his same condition. (3) Vehicles added into the map with the RCLICK+Add Vehicle option do not immediately appear on the map. (4) While I initially set up my account selecting Lingor Island as the map, I later decided to try Fallujah instead. Unfortunately, each time I tried to connect I was stuck at "Waiting for host" until finally I was kicked because "BattleEye Not Responding". I didn't have this problem with Lingor (and yes, I have installed the Fallujah mod through DayZ Commander, just as I did with Lingor, which worked). (5) Finally, where can I go to in order to verify which email address I used to sign up for your service? I recall various options when I set up my account, but none of these asked for an email address (if one did, I apologize that I do not recall it). If I have to send you a ticket, I want to be sure it comes from an email address that you will recognize. Regards,

    Lets go back to the classics...

    Having several hundred cars on 225 km²? Maybe. All repaired like they usually are on those server? Definitely not. Autorefuel and unlimited fuel? Definitely nein. It's not the fact that there are that many vehicles, it's the fact that those servers usually have them all fully repaired and fully fueled with all the jazz that doesn't even require you to have a brain to keep it running.

  18. Plus Epoch adds tons of military vehicles such as humvees with M2s, grenade launchers, etc. Also choppers like Blachawks and such. I think that since most people pvp now in DayZ so much, these vehicles make for more fun and exciting PVP. Along with everything you stated, I imagine why that is why Epoch has become so popular.

    1. Safe Zones are not part of Epoch 2. PVP areas? What area isn't PVP? No place is safe in Epoch. 3. Buying items means you have to have something to trade in. Sure you could eventually get some NVGs but you might have to hump a bunch of guns or other items to a trader which is a high traffic area and then sit there and slowly trade them in, exchange the metals to get the gold and then finally buy them. Meanwhile you have to lug around copper, silver, and gold in your backpack taking up space until you have enough. It's kinda a pain to trade. 4.Permanent Item Storage is EXPENSIVE. To buy a Safe is 120 gold bars. 120 AKs, 60 DMRs/M4s/M16s, or 3600 Lee Enfields. Everything else is semi secure but can be broken into or destroyed. 5. Bots are not part of Epoch. I really hate when people start bitching about things that are NOT part of the mod as a reason to hate the mod. This is like saying you hate Vanilla DayZ because of Self Blood Bags, 1000+ vehicles, and Starting kits including DMRs.
  20. 1) Chernarus is a small populated área you can see because of the density of buildings on whole área. Its very likely to have old broken cars and ONE OR ANOTHER brand new car. You will mostly find tractors, old trucks (luckly working) or in goverment buildings black sedans (russian goverment and post soviet countries use this color to his vehicles.) Now military isnt much diferent, the vehicles presented so far satisfies any need. its only like said in other posts. 2) They could break the glass but not if you are in movement you just trample them all. 3) Because the car is old dont mean his glasses must be broken, in fact one of the parts who would resist better to time is the glasses. (if something dont fall in the glass.) 4)vehicle damage is fine, aim well shoot on tires or egine and... boom.... 5) I agree with car parts but if will add more car parts i want to be able to fortify my car with new ones. 6) Physics isnt from ArmA2 vanilla it will be a new one. 7) OK. 8) I want this since the first ofp dont know what is the big deal to make it happen. 9) Agreed 10) already writen in 6.

    1: No they don't. Coding is still intensive and every new model that you implement usually has some gameplay feature that has to be programmed along with it (I believe that's what you would define as CONTENT). They are not separate. Take handcuffs for example. Please tell me how you would implement working handcuffs without programming? Please tell me how you would implement items that can degrade without programming? Tell me how you would implement items that can interact with each other, such as warmers that you can place canned food inside and heat up, without programming. Have we all forgotten that one of the large improvements from the mod was turning items into vehicles? Your can of beans is literally a vehicle, in terms of code. As are guns, as are anything else that has interchangeable parts or damage states, all of which must be programmed. 2: communication implementation? What is that? Do you even know what you mean by that? 3: map design tools do not "reduce the amount of work that needs to be done." So by your logic, a broken car would suddenly become less damaged just because someone is holding a wrench in their hand. You still have to do something with those tools. Perhaps you don't comprehend how large the map is and the kind of issues that implementing new models can have, or have we all forgotten the horrible screen artifacts that DayZ used to have in the early mod version? 4: The gameplay is not minimalistic. First, the SA supports over 3000 zombie ai. That in itself is incredibly complex (the mod can only handle a max of about 500). Also, you've got players interacting with each other in increasingly complex ways, like trading with each other, restraining each other, ect. You have to worry about preventing combat logging. You have to prevent hacking as that will destroy the multiplayer experience. You have to make sure that every single item players pick up or put down is saved and registered by the server so they don't simply vanish into thin air. I don't get this misconception that a lack of rules makes a game simpler. It doesn't. The more freedom you give a player, the more contingencies you have to plan for, as their behavior becomes increasingly unpredictable. 5: GTA 4 was not built from the ground up. It's a sequel, moron. "The game uses Rockstar's own RAGE game engine, which was previously used in Rockstar Table Tennis, in combination with the Euphoria game animation engine." - Wikipedia page which I LINKED which you clearly DID NOT read. Just because they made huge improvements does NOT mean the engine wasn't built on an improved version of the previous one. Half life 2 is a sequel, built on top of the Havok physics engine, which already existed. Skyrim is a sequel, built on the Creation Engine, which is a revision of their previous engine used for Fallout. And even where you are correct - Chivalry was built from the ground up, on the UNREAL engine. So again, basically a sequel. Not really built from the ground up. The examples still stand. You have literally no idea what you are talking about. No modern video game is "built from the ground up." Game companies constantly revise old code and use engines that they didn't even make, as it would take decades to program a whole new engine from scratch, to the same exact effect of revising an old one. This is the norm of the video game industry. \/ This man speaks wisdom. Stop waiting for the game people. Do your normal life. Get fucking LAID for once.
  23. you must buy license from brand when you make pay-ware intended to sale (game, not mod), when you make mod Terrorviktor you do not need, when i make VBS addons (those cars for example were earlier made for VBS , than i remove brands in VBS and they are "coupe, seat, combi" not Mercedes, VW Passat, Kia Ceed") so it looks different for GAME (as standalone) and for MOD , addon etc. (like GTA addons of cars) Addons for ARMA are freeware addons (mod) which are intended to be used for free in Arma2, problem is that lots of dayz mods are making money on free addons, they make : - big server payments, - pay-win content (to start game with M4A1 instead of Makarov pistol) - make hacks "vip mode, god mode" for money, i seen in internet guys who wanted to charge money from players for playing my addons, everything would be okay if those mods were not collecting money, if they were just free pure fun gaming like it used to be in past, when players were not paying to use addons which supose to be free or if someone donates MOD than creators of content should be donated, not the way "mister X made addon, mister Y collects money for playing it" everyone can play addons in Arma2 FOR FREE, but when i see mod makers collecting money on stuff they not made (guns, vehicles) i get angry, especially when it stops me from doing addons (cause when i release addon, soon it is put in few dayz mods who start to collect money on it) i understand donations for creators, i do not accept donations for third parties like persons using addons without even asking me before regarding Origins - in this mod content which is used is made by authors and team (models, weapons, island) not made by others who were not even asked (like i was not asked about use of my work by dozens of dayz mods which use it ) every mod can use its own content (models, textures, scripts, configs, maps) but using other people content to collect donations is somehow not good, cause orginal author not made it for others but for himself (like for example guys making weapons for mod X made weapons for mod X not for mod Z or Y) my addons were made by me and i wanted to say that i have right to decide about my own work and not others
  24. I don't see anything wrong with people stashing vehicles on the map edges and stuff. Dosent take that long to search em even on foot and its better to find a nice fixed car with some loot than spend hours trying to repair a fresh spawn. More cars would just mean that those clans would have the best of the best vehicles. but at least there would be some crap cars for everyone else. Rare fuel means that the big clans will stockpile fuel inside there cars (and/or any fuel containers). Now they are just painting a target on there backs for people to join and find there camp. To me fuel is just too abundant, restricting it could make the big clans play a more defensive game. Instead of going out looking for someone to ambush they may wanna protect there epic fuel stockpile. Because all it would take is 1 guy to find there camp....put all the jerrys in one car....blow the rest to hell and drive off ;)
  25. Ehhhh. Everything else seems to be easy to find, which is why vehicles are the holy grail lol. I want military equipment in the SA to be HARD to find, not easy like it is now. Adds no excitement to the game. Otherwise, I would agree with you.
