  1. I want normal civilian cars and vehicles. Perhaps a moped. Police Cars. Ambulances. Regular Sedans. Vans. SUVs. Farm equipement like Tractors, bulldozers. Dump trucks. I do not want just military vehicles spawning all over the place. That said there should be something like an Uber rare spawn with hard to find parts that is a APC since that would make sense in dayz
  2. There is a list of vehicles in the game pbo's. Why not post those?
  3. These types of things would be pretty rare as they already are rare. These items don't get issued to every soldier, you don't need tons of them, and there are no civilian equivalents. I don't think that's a problem. As for vehicles, the ammo for them would be in extremely short supply for the same reasons above. There aren't civilian equivalents to the rounds generally. But .223 rounds would not be extremely rare, nor 7.62. Certainly not 9mm, .38 or .22lr
  4. CrazyCorky

Why are you against many military items in game?

I do agree with what's being said about C4, rockets, grenade launchers, as well as military vehicles. I feel like the vehicles should not primarily be military as you would just have people flying around mowing other people down.
  5. TwinSpire

Why are you against many military items in game?

The main reason why I am against military loot is in games it is a slippery slope to a military pvp fps mmo... we are already seeing it. The military loot is the meta game, more inventory space, more bullets/capacity/rate of fire. Continue down the military road and you have little birds and c4 charges, LMG, NVG, heat scopes. imo it just can't be balanced in a "survival horror game" properly. You either make them soo difficult to find/maintain its pointless and no one will even use them. Or they are too common OP and hinders the survival aspect of the game and turns it into what we see now mostly pvp idiocy in elecktro. imo people are just unrealistic... batteries for anything like NVG are probably long dead they don't keep forever. Lets forget about the % of the population that would even know how to repair maintain tech, vehicles especially helicopters. Or even how stuff will corroed quickly without temp controlled buildings (that haven't been looted a year ago). While yes having some timeframe would be nice... if this was 2 years after "Z-day" I doubt you would find anything of use at any store or military base. Even a year... those are the first places people would go to loot. Some previous poster thought it would be cake just to walk to the gun shop and get "armed up"... but he forget about the gang with trucks loading up EVERYTHING shooting his ass as he got near with everyone running around looting. I can see small automatic arms like AKs and M4s but ammo should be scarce AND there should be wear on your weapons... so many shots you loose condition and chance of breakage. imo everyone should prefer to NOT use guns because the cost is so great you only fire as last resort...
  6. Ya lol. Let's add persistent storage and vehicles before it even gets optimized. If that was the case we would have tents uaz's and 10 person servers with ultimate gaming systems hitting 30 fps max Op ur post is so entitled it needs to be banished
  7. At a risk of sounding like yet another self-entitled, me-me-me, geef-geef-geef cry-baby in a self-obsessed, instant-gratification culture...I'm inclined to agree. On one hand, I appreciate that game development takes time.Time must be spent on 'behind-the-scenes' updates that nobody will appreciate. On the other hand, I'm really enjoying the game and I can only imagine how much more awesome it will be with vehicles, base building and persistent storage (among other things). So, GIVE GIVE GIVEEEE!
  8. They have built a basic and functional zombie system that is in need of improvement and optimization. No question about any of that. However, there are a lot of other basic systems that aren't even in yet (hunting, vehicles, barricading, etc.) Basic functional versions of these things need to be put in place as well. Once all or most of the critical systems are in the game then the long road of improvement and optimization of them can begin. Zombies aren't done; they are basic placeholders that will be worked on in the future when the time is right.

    Teaming up in game? Barely...

I think its authentic to a degree. I mean if the apocalypse hits, the first guys im going to try and meet up with will be my friends. So that's ok that they made groups from outside the game. That being said all the guys I play dayz with I met in the mod. This is where the current state of the game comes in. With only having what you can carry people are reluctant to approach others. But when basebuilding and vehicles come in things will change. You can stash that nice rifle and your fave cloths, then go out with crap loot to interact and make friends. Maybe offer some surplus loot that's quite valuable to the other guy, building the friendship. I think this one will solve its self as development progresses :)
  10. Our group of 3-5 want to add more. We play on 3480, 3533 and 434 servers. We play several hours a day at varies times and you can usually find at least 1 of us on at any time of the day. We want to add more people for few reason: -More fun with more people! -Help keep our helis and camps safe -Keep the war going with our rivals and find their camps or vehicles We can gear you up instantly and even give you a vehicle. Helis are owned by whoever puts in the time to find and repair them, but we all share using them (as long as you're good pilot). Our rival groups have expanded and we're being out-manned and out-gunned! We use teamspeak to talk. Can reply here or add me on steam "inic" or "iNick" (red hair girl pic)

    AIRPORT FFS

I agree... I'm also pretty sure they will continue to develop new structures and reformat the current cities, like what they are doing with the police station and clinic. To help with the future implementation of civilian aircraft they should definitely consider a larger airport, plenty of aircraft debris, a large terminal area with plenty of hiding spaces and what not.. To help with future implementation of vehicles, i would suggest a car dealership or just more of those junk yards. Would also be cool to see a mall or shopping center, some kind of street market, maybe an oil field.. Like some others have said - adding some mansions and formerly gang controlled properties.... A bike shop, supermarket, gun store, car mechanic shop... Just some normal everyday buildings.. Also I'm thinking they will throw in more apocalypse related structures, like road blocks, sandbagged buildings where survivors had linked up at the start, some cars that had driven into buildings.

    Experimental, is it worth it?

The experimental servers give you a quick look at the next update and they are always full if there is some very interesting features added. When vehicles get thrown into the experimental one day, you probably wont be able to even join them. My internet connection is horribly slow so I just play on the stable versions. If you can download huge files quickly then you should go for it.
  13. Chaingunfighter

Interaction with the World & Buildings!

That would be completely unrealistic, why exactly are they slower than walking/running speed? Are they MK1 tanks from World War 1? And how come they have no weapons or ones that cannot be used? And the majority of tanks do not have a lot of extra room to store things. I don't think tanks are necessary anyway, the only military vehicles should be trucks, technicals and light cars (and helicopters later on)
  14. Hi Prominentalex My name is John, I have a server just purchased (Epoch running Napf map) and would like some scripts added but have no real clue as to what im doing, I have spent 3 days trying to get just the AI (wicked) running so far all I have working is the mission side of it. Seasons

Hello there fellow DayZ players. :) I was wondering if the developers of DayZ was considering making different seasons like winter and summer. I personally would love a Chernarus during winter. It would definitely add another dimension and atmosphere to this game, some ideas that I have is that walking through thick snow would go a tad slower than normally, so you could combine for example, wooden sticks, some rope and a rag to craft yourself some snowshoes. When they eventually add vehicles, a snowmobile could be one of them, perhaps you could even craft some Cross-Country skiis. Now, I know absolutely nothing about developing a video game, and therefore I might be wrong, but when the game is done, would it really be that hard to implement a snowy ground, and just switch out the rain to some beautiful snowflakes, it shouldn't make the game more laggy since what's the different between rain and snow really? They could add white ghillie suits and other snow-camoflauged clothing and weapons. And during the winter, it would be all the more important to stay warm and have the right clothes, so when you spawn in, you have to rush to the nearest town to pick up some clothing and possibly heatpacks if they add that in. Thank you for your time and if you have any comments, improvements or more ideas, please write them below. // Jaws Bund
  16. No military vehicles, more civilian vehicles like bicycles. However, I would be okay with Humvees if they DID NOT have a gun attatched to the top. Someone can stand in the gunner spot and shoot with their own gun, but I don't want to see a 50. cal machinegun on top of it.
  17. 1. Seems somewhat plausible, but I can imagine that security of any nuclear plant and its facilities would be a major military operation and disposal would be handled very carefully, because every government knows exactly what a reactor leak is capable of doing. Not to mention that changing the map to a relatively small island essentially removes the likelihood of a nuclear reactor being there, as there would be no point in building one. 2. Depleted-uranium, is just that, depleted. It gives off much lower levels of radiation than fission rods and that used in bombs. Trust me, they wouldn't use it in civilian aircraft (and armored vehicles like the M1A1 Abrams tank) if it posed such a hazard to the crews and civilians around it. Granted, long term direct exposure to depleted-uranium will probably cause some adverse health effects, but as a frequent flyer I can tell you that I have not grown any third arms (yet). 3. Even a "tactical" nuclear warhead would decimate a rather large area and render it useless, so they'd better have a damn good reason to use them. A significant portion (much larger than shown on the preview) of the map would need to be ruined and the radiation levels would certainly be lethal. I doubt you're going to find any Level A Hazmat suits in Chernarus (and any that were there would have been used early on due to the virus itself) so it essentially makes the entire idea of a rad zone pointless.

    The grass problem

Dude I loved Joint Ops. Had a free-play demo disc I played when I was younger. I loved putting the vehicles in the back of the chinook, flying to max altitude, then driving it out. lmao great times.
  19. Here's a shout out to all my fellow Survivors, Scavengers, Medics, Heroes, YouTubers, New Players, and other individuals in need of Security services! I'm posting here to let you all know that I am starting a service where anyone in need of support, help, or extra security/protection can hire me on for an extended amount of time until they no longer need/want my help. My time is cheap, so dont worry about payment to much :) What I do/can help with Need someone to provide over-watch while you loot the town? Call me up! Getting hunted by a pack of bandits? Call me up! Are you a streamer/youtuber who constantly gets stream sniped? Call me up, and Ill do my best to help you out! Medics providing assistance to survivors need extra security so you dont get ambushed? Im your guy! Is that one guy in Electro killing innocent survivors and you cant do anything about it because he has all the loot in town? Let me know, ill take care of him. and just about anything you can think of related to this! Will provide any form of Security, Over-watch, scouting/navigation, etc. Im a jack of all trades! I can provide medical/supply assistance for you, but I mostly work on security services. Experience/Skills My Name is Matt, but i prefer to be called Vee, as that's what i usually go by online and such. Im 20 years old, I've played Arma and DayZ for around 2 years now, Im very experienced in combat tactics, I know strategy very well, I know my way around Chenarus very well, and I work great by myself or with a group of 2-4. Can effectively engage targets at 600m or more if need be. Im pretty damn good at what I do, so when you call me up, you can expect reliability, and the job to get done. I cannot show you proof of my work just yet, so you'll just have to take my word for it. In the past I used to play with a friend from the Netherlands, and I was really the only guy he wanted to play with because I was such a good teammate, and i knew how to have a good time while doing what I do. Payment I will take payment of any kind. Right now, I will be taking donations, so my services are technically free, but as time goes on I will probably be in need of something. I do not ask for much. Usually If i do require payment, I'll ask for what I need most at the time like a can o' Beans, battery, a few bullets, etc. Donations are always welcome. Please do not offer me 6 pairs of pants though or something else that ridiculous, i need stuff I can use :D Contact If you want to get in touch with me, you can do one of 2 things. 1. You can post here or PM me, and i will try to respond as soon as possible. I will check here regularly. 2. Contact me on Steam directly. My Steam name right now is "Jumping Jehosaphats". This is subject to change, and if it does change, I will edit it here asap. Look for the same picture as my avatar here. I live in the US, in Mountain standard time(GMT-7) I am on usually from 1pm-10pm, can be earlier depending on what is going on in my life. When you contact me, I will respond as soon as reasonably possible. Real Life may interfere with my services(may be offline, out of town). In game I usually try to stick around the center of the map, and have a patrol route that extends down into the major cities. If you need assistance on the other side of the map, it may take a little while to get there, but i will finish the job, you might just have to be a little patient. I do HIGHLY prefer if the party i am assisting has a microphone(s), but it is not absolutely required, you just have be good with your communication when typing to me. Future Expansion/Goals As the game develops into a bigger/better version of itself, it will probably be easier to get assistance from me(Ex: vehicles, better gear, etc). I will also take on other individuals who are seeking this kind of work/or who seek to provide similar services. If you wish to do this though, you will have to be very experienced in DayZ/Arma, because the people you are helping are relying on you to get it done. Contact me here if you wish to help with this and join up. Should have a microphone. These kind of things will help to improve the overall quality of my services. over time. IF YOU WISH TO LEAVE A REVIEW, PLEASE LEAVE IT BELOW. Thanks for looking, and Happy Trails. I'll see you out there.... ***Will not provide assistance for: combat loggers, hackers, exploiters, and general jerkoffs. I have the right to refuse service to anyone.
  20. Not sure how it will work in the final version but in the mod there was group, vehicle, direct and side I believe. Right now it's just direct which is the immediate area. I guess when vehicles are added they'll add a vehicle chat channel.
  21. Yay, can't wait for vehicles! :D Boats ftw!
  22. Okay, after going over some patch notes, future planning and upcoming features I was discussing this with some other people last night... First of all, we are playing a videogame. Not a real life simulator. The main reason of a game is to entertain. If you want to be entertained in a single player environment or a multiplayer environment, it does not really matter, as long as things are fun and enjoyable. Day Z has always been a lot of fun. The Mod started with a lot of issues and is still being plagued with a lot of these issues, but it does not take the fact away that it always has been an amazing experience and I've spend hours of fun and social interaction with lots and lots of people. When the SA got released I did not know what to expect. My first impression was "hmmm it's okay but I will keep playing the mod until they release some more content" however, 2 or 3 days more of playing got me hooked. The graphics, the fun social interaction where people tend to be complete psychos, the will to survive and not be seen by other players... I love it and I still do. Sure there is still a lot to be worked on, sure there are some flaws and of course I do realize that this game is in Alpha status and that a lot of things are not working as intended, however I can honestly say that this is one of the most fun gaming experiences I've had in many many years. Thumbs up for the entire team that has been working on this. The laughs me and my friends have had playing this game.... I can not remember having so much fun and being so excited about a game as with this one. I've been working for a company that released the biggest MMO out there, I've had my fair share of experience in debugging, interaction and dealing with new content and the reaction of the players that are reviewing this content, so I am also not surprised by the reaction of a lot of people thinking that this game has been made just to cater their needs only and whatever they do not like, they want to have removed. This is not one of these kind of reactions. This is just a mere suggestion/opinion of someone who is enjoying this game a lot and would like to know if there are more likeminded people out there. This game is in Alpha status and it could still go into any direction, so sharing my opinion should not be a problem. So here is my opinion: This game got released in alpha status with a set of features and gameplay mechanics. Most of it was based on social interaction and combat. It made it a lot of fun. Things like handcuffs, holding up people and things like that could result in the most hilarious situations. Yes, the game is a survival game, but at that point it was until a certain extent. So in the last couple of months, more and more patches got released and more content has been added. It has been a lot of fun with implementing new guns, clothes, colours, towns and optimizations. The bleeding system got better, however a little alarmbell started to go off when I first noticed a "blood testing kit". My first reaction was "hey, are they not taking this a little bit TOO serious?" But well, me and my group of friends did not take notice to it and we kept on going. After some patches I started to read things about a defib kit, heart rates, blood types and more and more realistic characteristics regarding the human body. I discussed this with some other people and all of us basically came to the same conclusion.... We were hoping this would not get too serious. Right after we finished discussing this, I was checking the new patch notes and "heart attacks" were going to get introduced. I was reading up about this and this is the main reason I wanted to open this topic. Could it go TOO far in DayZ? Could it take the human body and interactions too far? Could it go at the cost of fun? Don't get me wrong. I am all for a survival game, however I would not enjoy a game that would take itself too serious regarding your health and diet. There is a fine line between semi-realism and fun and complete realism. Most people do not play a game only to get confronted with the same realism they face when they turn off the computer. I really hope that this game does not decide to take the direction of taking these aspects too serious, and try to keep it fun. Of course there will always be a group of people who want complete realism, but who would expect that when you play a game based on a ZOMBIE apocalypse? Please keep things fun and accessible for everybody and do not try and put in as many things as possible and then STILL need to optimize, put in vehicles, loot etc. People are even suggesting the ability to shit in the woods, smoke drugs... come on.. Could we first work on fixing the base and go from there? The basics that the mod already provided and proved to be really successful? Do we really need heart attacks, clogged up arteries, explosive shits and things like this? What is survival for you? Is it to not be spotted, collect fluids and food, and retreat and find a group of trustworthy people and hunt down gear to increase your chances of survival in combination of persistent storage units like tents that will still be there after server restarts, or does survival for you mean not getting a wet tshirt and a random chance to drop dead from a heart attack while you are taking a shit in the woods smoking a bong? There will be people saying it is a combination of both, but what would you sacrifice for the basic need of having fun in a game without having to think of a hundred of other things that will just stress you out instead of having a great gameplay experience? I still hope that the game will stick to it's core. As I said before, this is not a rant or a whinepost, just my humble opinion. In my opinion it would be great to introduce the features that were present in the mod first (after optimizing and current bug solving) and then see what could be added more to the game. I personally do not need a patch that introduces loads of new things every week. I know this game is in alpha, I am patient and prefer quality over quantity. So I would prefer that the Dev team would take the time they need to work on core implementations and optimizations first and keep delivering an amazing game like they have been doing so far. Thanks for the long read. :) I hope there are more people out there who share my opinion.

    I'm killing Bambis

I can't wait until there is more laid back stuff to do like, phishing, cooking, hunting, camping, base building, and repairing vehicles.
  24. Anyone have a good Epoch server that is actually trying to create a DayZ environment rather than an Arma Wasteland environment? I realize with AI missions etc there will be some vehicles with weapons etc, but MBTs, BMPs, etc with launchers and HE rounds change the gameplay to Wasteland not Dayz in my opinion ... even with indestructible bases. Don't get me wrong that's fun ... but I'd rather be playing Arma3 Wasteland than Arma 2 Epoch Wasteland that most servers have become. We already have a base on a server that is in Stage 3 of their Militarization, so now you've got RPGs, MBTs, Jets, Apaches, laser designators, admins spawning in vehicles for themselves with full ammo etc ... So a few of us are looking to play DayZ on an Epoch server. Anyone have any suggestions? AS50s, BMPs, Jackals, etc with mounted machine guns are fine and fun, but all this other stuff is not what we're looking for anymore for our DayZ Epoch play. Thanks!

    Effective deterrent to KOS?

I see where you are coming from, but nothing in the mod was ever difficult enough. The risks you took were always small ones. Biggest threat to you were other players. What I want, what I'm talking about an environment made 98% HATRED and 2% Water. Surviving should be the most difficult part of this game. It should be a struggle. These hunger meters, thirst bars, wetness/dampness, cold/hypothermia, disease, illness, finding medical loot, vehicles that are tough to maintain, tougher to protect from other players----All these things need to pushed from minor annoyances to completely and utterly stressful. Navigating through zombie infested cities or high density loot areas should be all but suicidal without a group. Vehicles should require intensive repairs to maintain, keeping one should be a communal effort. Things that draw people together rather than away from each other. These are things that will help. As it stands all these things are easy to manage...They never escalated to being difficult in the mod...And they are not threatening risks in Standalone..Because Alpha...But I'm hoping in time we really get that sense of stress that is essential to the survival genre.
