No Tanks Maybe an >Unarmed< BRDM-2, which is wheeled and so not invincible. Maybe, you could mount a LMG on the roof with absolutely NO cover for the gunner. Such vehicles are widely used by Police abd Military in Eastern europe.

Does any one else feel burnt out already?
Hershel Green replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
Ur right. Those where the best dayz of Dayz....It was really funny to see overbody driving and flying around in military vehicles after a big apocalypse...fully geared with modern weapons and ghillie suits. I think that would be a very realistic simulation of what would happen....after a apocalypse....in a remote place on te planet...with lots of poor ppl...having state of the art weapons.... :P -
Anyone played Dayz2017 1.1? It had a Tank without a gun. It really added fear to the server because you could hear the tank from like 2km away. We had some great moments when we were chased by a tank once. But i think it changes the play mechanics of dayz to much. Dayz shouldn't be about running away from tanks, maybe armored vehicles (http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2012/11/ArmA2OA-2012-11-12-08-49-51-02.jpg) but tanks would be to much.

THE DAYZ WISH LIST (From the Community to the Devs)
LeeEverett replied to Aussie Bogan's topic in General Discussion
1: Anti combat logging measures; a 10 minute timer after you've been engaged in combat with another player would be nice. If you logout before the 10 minutes are up your character dies and you lose everything. 2: More zombies in general 3: More civilian firearms like hunting rifles, shotguns, a mini ruger or something like that 4: Beards, different hairstyles, more facial customization would be awesome. 5: Player run safe zones where you can find other people to roll with, store your gear and logout in relative safety. 6: Vehicles that need to be restored in order to work. For instance, many of the cars would need a battery change or new tires seeing as they would have been out of commission for a long time. 7: Once vehicles have been implemented, it would be awesome if you could customize them. Welding steel to the car for protection and putting steel grates over the passenger windows would be nifty. 6: Roaming hordes of zombies 7: Hundreds of destroyed cars blocking the roads leading out of the coastal cities. This is more of a visual thing though and would give a little more depth to the way the world looks. -

How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
-j3bbah replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
Those players who do want to head up north can do with the weapons to defend themselves from the deathmatch types, it is an even playing ground when everyone can access it. You won't stop the new spawn killers by removing loot, you will only stop the other players from having similar powered weapons in the same areas. So you want everyone to play your way and have the battle zone in an area that you like ? It's no good to make one area the military zone, it just turns it into a meat grinder, at least now it's kind of spread out from one end of the map to the other, either place you can get good weapons, so people spread out, you don't just have three quarters of the server rushing to the one place. It would actually make the pVp worse I think. Your post is completely broken, nice one. To your actual points, you seem to have no grasp of the concept of either progression or risk vs reward. Right now, you spawn in at Balota, spend 30 seconds getting to the Barracks, you pick up an M4, you kill other guys with M4's, you die to a guy with an M4, you rinse and you repeat. That is not DayZ, that is a CoD deathmatch and the fact that so many people don't seem to be comprehending that makes me worry about the future of this game. Why do they need to head north, when everything they need is at the coast? So the guy that just spawned in 5 minutes ago should have access to the same gear as a guy who spent 2 hours at the airfield - to level the playing field. Nothing will entirely stop spawn killing, and that's okay, but the more reason there is to leave the coast, the more spawn killing will decrease. "So the guy that just spawned in 5 minutes ago should have access to the same gear as a guy who spent 2 hours at the airfield..." No, I want risk vs reward and I want progression, this game was never supposed to be a deathmatch so it needs these things. Meat grinder aka big risk for the big rewards. In the mod NWAF required you to be at the top of your game, watching for snipers, being completely paranoid, and being prepared. You could die in a second and lose everything, and start out at the coast with nothing. Or you could win, and reap the best rewards. Stretching out end-game gear across the map on a 50 man server will mean you can just switch between Barracks until you find one that isn't locked down, walk in, get some gear and walk out again. There have been many times when Ive gone to NWAF and it has been deserted, that is inevitable on 50 man servers, but if you stretch the barracks across to 3 or 4 different areas you will never find PvP at them. Sure I think you should be able to find good things at different locations, but not necessarily weapons. Because then you're looking at stretching the best weapons to 4 different places, stretching the best vehicles to multiple different places, etc, and you will never find PvP anywhere because everyone is checking a different location. -

More gun variety. The sound of zombies when there are none around is a shitty prank and gets me most times. Animals to eat like deer, dogs you can train, rare predator animals like a mountain lion or bear. Vehicles. If killed by a zombie, your character turns into a zombie. Fix the bug that makes the bodies disappear after death. -
Id say pretty overkill... at this moment in time lets let the dev's focus on vehicles, playability, performance, smooth fluid gameplay mechanics, loot spawns, anti hacks, if anything the m4 should be touched anymore...its not a weapon we should see much of in that part of the world. 1 per military spawn per day or something. now cz 550s, mosins, sks, ak variants, etc should all be there with different stock options and accessories galore.

i have said this on 6 different topics...it makes no fucking sense. Too much reworked garbage that could have been copied straight from BI, and save the time for more important things, like you know FPS or vehicles?

Weapon and Ammunition Rarity (Discussion)
gesundheitk replied to gesundheitk's topic in General Discussion
I wish had more beans to give to people. I am really loving all the feedback on this topic. Viewing it from the other perspective, I can see how it is very hard to judge at the moment how rare a weapon should be since there is really only three currently in-game. However, the aim (haha, get it?) I was hoping to see was a feeling such as vehicles have in the vanilla dayz mod. It's something you truly can cherish and makes you value your life more than normal. -
Does any one else feel burnt out already?
Karmaterror replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
There is only a fraction of the games total content in atm. I think when vehicles, bases and respawning zeds/ loot with full loot tables of hundreds of diffrent items comes in, It will get a lot more interesting for ya. As someone else said atm patience is key. If your already feeling burnt out id say maybe dont play for a while, maybe a monththen come back and see all the new stuff. Then next mont the same and so on. Im trying very hard not to do this to myself lol. Iv capped myself at you can fully search one town each session, then log. Also trying not to play every night, maybe two or 3 times a week. Too much of a good thing me thinks :) -
Areas of high value loot/gear seem to be a huge focus for a lot of players in this game. The game usually consists of spawning, getting basic supplies and heading for high value areas such as military bases and or airfields. These areas seems to be places of farming and camping, the only real threat are other players a handful of walkers and your personal needs. I would like to see some more progression for these areas. Not a simple case of every military base is a high loot base. Every base has a cookie cutter threat level. Now, I feel there should be low end military camps, medium and high. Low level camps would consist of low level military gear with fairly low level slow unarmored zombies, mainly civilian, think an FOB ( Forward Operating Base ) military base like Balota on the coast where lots of civilians were taken in when the outbreak started and now overrun they wander the place aimlessly looking for a victim, most of the high end gear has already been plundered . Zombies not too much of a threat, can be killed with small arms and melee weapons. The loot you obtain from these low level areas will give you military spec shotguns, sub machine guns such as the SA series among other arms of this nature, and armored gear to allow you to progress to being able to enter the next level of military installation. The next level bases slightly further inland. These bases were the FOS ( Forward Operation Sites ) which held pre-positioned equipment such as medium level arms and armor, gas masks with gas tanks and air filters, biohazard suits, the weapons would be superior than the low level base gives you, some basic automatic assault rifles, light machine guns both with no special attachments and the rare grenade. Zombies would be somewhat tougher than the low level military base. You wouldn't want to enter the area with a house hold pistol, hunting rifle or double barrel shotgun and forget melee weapons. Most of the zombies in this place would be wearing lightly armored gear. They would take a fair few rounds to kill and would not go down from melee attacks ( you could knock them down but they would still get up ). The weapons you gained from the low level military base would be more wise to use when entering this medium tiered installation. Now we come to the high level military bases, the north and east airfields ( MOB Main Operating Bases ) . These places are dangerous and highly hazardous to be. To start with they are blanketed with a chemical cloud. Possibly the cause of the original outbreak. Stored chemicals were released into the local area when the place was overrun. You wouldn't want to enter this area with out wearing a gas mask, filters, oxygen tank and a biohazard suit. Zombies here are also very dangerous, it seems being exposed to these chemicals makes them, faster and stronger. This makes them hit harder and take a lot more rounds to be taken out. They would all mainly be wearing full military armor with the odd one wearing a bio suite, these ones are nice to entice into groups as you can shoot their gas tanks which would explode. Now the gear in these areas would be highly prized, tons of medical supplies, blood, saline, IVs, morphine you name it. Along with highly prized pristine armored gear. All types of weaponry from assault rifles to sniper rifles. These places would also have chances to spawn all attachments for every weapon with a very high chance of them being in tip top pristine condition. Vehicle parts for military spec vehicles can be found here too. If you are very lucky you may even find more filters and CO2 tanks to prolong your stay in the zone. This moves me onto the next thing, your CO2 tank and filters will wear/run out over time and would have to be replaced. Thus making the player have to return to the previous bases to salvage more items. This system of invisible barrier progression I think is essential to the longevity of DayZ. This could be used on many other situation such as food, and vehicles to name a few. Vehicles especially, there needs to be a very convoluted and difficult path to take to actually obtain a vehicle. Engine, wheels, fuel tank are far too simple. Needs more additions, battery, sparkplugs, oil. Battery may not be charged so you have to find a generator, generator needs fuel. Generator makes noise, noise brings zombies. Everything needs to be a full on struggle to survive and have some sort of path and story. A beginning a middle and an end but you make that story yourself through this path of horrible odds and invisible barriers that you are forced to break through to survive. Rocket has somewhat already got these invisible barriers in place. The hunger/thirst system is a good example along with the disease system that is being added. They force you to obtain something to get to somewhere else. It's all about putting a problem in front of the player and letting the player work out the best way to tackle that problem. The issue at the minute for DayZ Game and even in the mod is, there simply isn't enough problems to overcome and if there is, they are simple too easy to overcome or even avoid entirely. I know these things are absolutely possible with this engine and would utterly love to see them tried and tested.

Improvised vehicles. I would fucking love to be able to tie a half-dozen skateboards together, attach a sail and maybe a recycling box to hold gear, and sail the Cherno roads with the breeze off the ocean. I would be happy to die crashing one of those into a building. -
How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
Mopp_94 replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
I think its add a nice balance to the coast, makes it a lil bit more dangerous, plus they'll be more reasons to head north when more content comes Crashed heli's and more militarized vehicles are both good starts. -

Hi and welcome to beginners guide, here i will be stacking lots of information and pictures about DayZ and doing my part on helping this awesome game and its community. Every tip from veteran survivors is heard and ill add all good tips to the initial post to make it easier to access to beginners. Basic movement: Press enter to get to third person, this lets you see more of your surroundings. Z X and C are your controls for crouching and going prone. Q and E lets you tilt your torso so you can see behind corners. While holding weapon and pressing spacebar you but down the weapon thus giving you a bit faster movement speed. Starting your game: When you star the game you have flaslight, your shirt and pants and battery. Even thou this doesnt seem a big start up gear this has tons of uses. Shirt can be ripped for two bandages to stop bleeding and flashlight is really handy during night time. When using flashlight remember to press spacebar to point it out to get better line of sight with it. Your first goal is to find gear to make your life easier. Backpack and some food and drinks are in need so start rummaging thru houses. Houses that have windows that let you see inside are accesible and usually contain loot like food and perhaps even some melee weapons.Canteens and waterbottles can be refilled and almost every settlement has water pump. Every shirt you find should be torn to bandages until you find real bandages from medkits of hospitals. Just remember to use alcohol or antidisenfact spray to rags first so that you dont get infected. Status: Thru out the adventure you will get hurt, infected or knocked out. Lets take a look about those. Bleeding can be stopped by bandages or torn t-shirt rags. You see blood gushing from you to ease you to recognise the sitsuation. Low blood will be shown as grayer colours in the game, to get it bright again either a) wait 45mins with thirst and hunger maxed to get your blood back b) get blood transfusion or c) use saline bag. Also your guy/girl will groan from time to time. Infected can be seen from the inventory screen and cured with antibiotics Hunger and thirst can also be seen from inventory screen, so remember to eat and drink All these status effects if gone unnoted will make you lose your character and your items Different buildings and their loot treshold: Thru out your adventures you come up on different buildings. Each building has specific loot tables and these loots are currently reseted when the server resets. Hospitals provide firstaid kits, antibiotics, syrings etc medical supplies. Schools provide backpacks, mosins, food and sometimes can openers.Remember that only using can opener you ensure that you get 100% filled can of food, other tools like screwdriver and knife spoil some of the food. Firestations provide axes, firstaid kits and some clothes. Also you can find high end loot from time to time, like pistols etc. Shops and streetshops have the biggest loot table, they can provide stuff like ducktape, food, drinks, maps etc. These are the ones you want to find fast in this game, remember you wont be alone hunting these loot spawns. Airfiels and military tents/camps these are the place for end game gear. You find weapons, clips tactical vests and the biggest backpack in game. These places are the most dangerous places in game cause they provide the most needed items in game currently. Later on the game will have vehicles and their parts, which you usually find from gas stations, firestations and airfields. Tune up for later upgrades. Important things to remember when playing: You want to get solid stock of clothes that give you more inventory space, raincoat, tactical vest, big backpack and good pants provide you enough room to stock all your food and drinks. Firstaid kits have inventory space of 6 inside of them, so stuffing all your IV kits and antibiotics in them is smart, you basically get two more inventory spots with these so having 2-3 with you isint a bad idea. Majority of players will shoot you on sight, thats purely because of the reason that they want to make looting easier, and killing player with good gear gives them fast ammo, drinks and food, so try to avoid big cities at coast and airfields unless its necessity to get better gear. Saline bag wakes you or your friend. There is several bloodtypes in game and if you take/give wrong blood type you will get sick and eventually die, just like in real life. You can find bloodtest kits from hospitals. Keep your gear in good condition, having broken stuff can dmg you or make you lose items when wandering. Constant running converses your stamina, remember to stop every now and then so you wont fall unconsious. www.dayzdb.com has whole map, using it every now and then makes your life easier when planning scavenging routes. Dont use used bloodbags or needless, you will get infected and sick. I will upgrade this post more and more once i figure stuff and get screenshots, ty to you all who read this and find atleast one helpful tip from it.

scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
What made the mod exciting for me was it was hard, I felt threatened and death felt punishing. However now I'm used to it, I can run anywhere really fast, the map doesn't feel endless like it used to and if I die I don't care. The other thing I noticed is players are largely just crap in the SA, I never died once when playing to other players, killed everyone I saw... I had one guy who shot at me, forgot I was there and run past me........ wtf? It also doesn't help that the Zombies might as well not even be there and no vehicles makes getting around rather tedious, I just turn auto run on and make myself a cup of tea. I don't think even with new content that I'll be coming back any time soon, just one of those things where you've played it so much and it is time to move on. Like I've never played a game for more than 20 hours usually, Dayz kept me for 10 times that and the only other game I played for that long was SWG Pre CU. So it did well but I wish they didn't bother with the network stuff, I just don't see what it adds, no one I know cares about it or is even aware. For me hackers wasn't an issue, just join the whitelist thing and sorted... -
Rayker, it is possible to script the old arma 2 vehicles into dayz standalone.

still don't understand how hard it is to at least put vehicles in, nevermind the terrible loot spawns, no zombies and disappearing bodies when u get kills. most of all the random character wipes when u wake up in the am and then u have a beach spawn. really really frusturating, just because he has had TWO years.... and he has not focused on those most important things about the game. hes more worried about the tamagachi pet meters and the combination and conditions of items to add more "depth" to areas that need work AFTER he has made the structure of the game sound. hes a great modeler and skinner, but hes terrible at managing a dev staff and hiring more experienced coders. wouldint be surprised if bohemia took the project out from underneath him. -
Random reset when joining another server?
bannworthrulz replied to JohnFromSteam's topic in General Discussion
I was wandering around a server and then lost connection, when I returned I had lost everything I worked for. Obviously this is just an ALPHA, but it still sucks to lose everything you spent hours collecting. Oh well, the game is awesome and I can not wait for them to come out with new stuff, like vehicles and better weapons. This is going to be a great game when finished. -

Been on the server quite a bit, and i can easily say that me staying on here for the future is 100% yes. Plenty of vehicles, good loot drops, zero problems server side, already 10+people playing and it's only been up a few day's. Also, can't wait for the 'Take clothes script' to come into effect, killed a guy yesterday with a awesome camo and wished i could of had it :D Keep up the good work!
