    I hear there are vehicles, horders keep the. Way way way in the Northern reaches of the map. My only suggestion is NO military camo vehicles.. Nice bright colours please stop the hoarding.

    I totally agree , many of server have me and my friends ruined by doing that , but something new with vehicles would be nice , something to make you feel like it's yours , the more you have in game , the more you want to play it and care about dying etc
  3. Hey there! So, then vehicles get added in standalone I think most cars should spawn with a key inside it. You could be able to carry the key, and only the player with the key can start the engine properly. If you don't have a key, you can try to hotwire the car, there would be a chance of sucess/failure. Over time if you've hotwired many cars, you would gain kinda like hotwiring skill (remember when rocket mentioned those kinda things like skills?). That would be one of skills that could encourage players to stay alive. What you think?

    i like the idea of personally owned/secured vehicles, but the wheel clamping thing to me seems like a new level of griefing... either players running around a map, clamping all vehicles for shits and giggles or to secure it until they find the required parts to get it running or they stumble upon your camp and clamp all the cars there for the hell of it i like the key idea too, but i dont think it should be a defining security feature, i think players who want it enough (and with the right tools and or know-how) could steal the vehicle anyways, by breaking a window or using a tool to unlock the car, hotwiring is a great idea, delay the ability to start the vehicle up when you dont have the key for it etc. one of the best parts of DayZ mod was roaming the woods and finding a camp with some fully repaired vehicles, robbing them blind and leaving

    One thing that annoyed me, to no end, was the system present in Epoch. The vehicles could only be unlocked by their owner. Nobody else. There was no option to try and crack them, or break in. I'm all for security, but not unbeatable security.

This server took a population hit after the release of Standalone and I was posting this to see if anybody was interesting in playing some Dayz Epoch while we wait for Dayz SA to progress.     So for when cars trucks and buses come into the game next year I had a thaught about adding vehicle security My first idea - vehicle wheel clamps - easily attachable and detachable with the correct tools , would stop random people coming and robbing up your vehicle Second - would have to be central locking for cars , and keys !! Who doesn't want car keys ? , I also think hot wiring would be cool Thirdly , attachable and detachable , vehicle protection , metal sheeting or wood planks or something , just a thaught Not sure if any have been thaught of prolly have by dev team but oh we'll

    Why is the world of dayz so static ?

    The thing that people seems to overlook in this thread presenting their favourite games is that none of these games present all the features you complain that dayZ doesn't have "at once". give me a game that has: Rigid body physics for vehicles.225km2 terrain.Dynamic structure destruction.Fully physical player movements.Full entity persistence (and i do mean it, GTA V doesn't keep track of everything in the world, only what is directly around players).long view distances suitable for realistic 300m target engagement.realistic firearm beahavior and bullet drop.support for large amounts of players.large amount if npcs at the same time (zombies or other).Every ambitious games out there pick only a few of those "praised" features, none of them implement all of them, due to time constrains, money, manpower but also... the target gaming system they are aiming for. People can whine all they want how consoles hold pc gaming back, PCs do not have unlimited available resources, you run quickly out of ram to store your game, out of video ram to store your textures and models and out of shader units to compute your lighting, shadows, normals and specular effects. But more important, you criticize the solution they took for building destruction as unprofessional or "gimmicky"... dude, wake up, every single game out there exploit every tricks and shortcuts in the book to get things done on the cheap. It's not a question of laziness, it's about choosing what you're doing with your processing power.

    Actually the vehicles are in.. you can drive them.. they just won't let us do it :) Excuse me, let me rephrase that so people don't get the wrong idea. The vehicles are present in the game files but do not spawn in game.
  12. First of il start with a list of guns I DONT want to see in the game: DMR: Why: Its the most overused, tree camping, bambi sniping, lame ass weapon ever. It scares bambi's away from bases and stuff as the unskilled user plink's 20 rounds of 762 lead in their direction as they near the bases. Just stupid and should not be included. Barrett and AS-50 Why: Its just as bad as the DMR, except its insta-bone-break-death. And it tends to blow up vehicles too. It would be highly unrealistic to find these guns anyways as they aren't as common in the army as one may think. General Purpose Machine-guns: Nothing against them really, Except that in a survival situation you would almost definitely trade a 12 kg lump of steel for a nice light m4, or other rifle. M249 is even a better solution but not by a long shot at 10 kg. SCAR Series: Nothing against them. But i do know the USMC uses these guns but i have never seen them using them on any media footage. Besides id be happy with a bunch of 416's and m4's Now its on to the weapons I DO WANT to see in the game. I Will split this into 3 catagorys. Common (Or Civil), Military and Rare. COMMON: Pistols: Makarov: The Makarov was made by the masses during the cold war, its cheap, its reliable. And a descent self defense weapon for people who cant afford much. It will be a good weapon to find in the larger cities. Ammunition is fairly widespread in the ex-soviet bloc countries and is still made. Rugger MKIII / Similar Model This would be a nice handgun to pair with the 10/22 from rugger, cheap and commonly used in the sporting community. Shotguns: CZ 720 This shotgun is made by CZ, I dont know if its widely found but id assume it would look the part to be a civilian weapon in-game. Could fare well as being one of the rarer civilian weapons. Rifles: SMLE MKIII This will make a nice rare find in some farm houses. Ammunition would be rare. Could be modified by default to accept the PSU Scope. CZ 550 Well it does seem to be in the lore of the area, it definitely fits in with being a civilian gun. The gun could be compatible with the 8x scope already found in game. Hi-Point .45 and 9x19mm Carbine This will be a really cool weapon to have, Compatible with some attachments from the M4 currently in the game such as ACOG and Red dots. This could be one of the most sought after weapons in civilian areas. Im sure this gun comes as a pistol kit as well. So you could dismantle the attachments and reduce it to being a pistol. MILITARY: Pistols: Glock 17: Its just got to be in here, more or less it should be a police weapon. Found in police stations. It is used by many police forces and military organisations around the world. Its tried and tested. It has to be in the game! CZ-75 This weapon is really popular in the ex soviet block. Its commonly used by police forces as-well as some military organisations. Its beginning to find its way into the US and is becoming popular there too. This must be in the game! SIG SAUER P226 This is also a really popular weapon throughout the world. It is expensive, so id imagine if it were to be in the game it would be rare. Foot Note: Most of these pistols are capable of supporting attachments. Such as Suppressors and under barrel flashlights. Some even support extended magazines. SMG's MP5A6 And MP5 SD6 Used all around the world. Even in Russia, Id love for this to be in the game. Needs to include an optics rail though, the iron sights are horrible if they are the closed version. PP-2000 This weapon is rare and is only used officially in Russia. An idea i have for this smg, is that its as compact as a pistol and can fit into a 4 block space with its stock folded. Ideally a sought after smg. Compatible with most RIS rail attachments. Rifles AK Series (47 and 74 Possibly some rarer 100 series ak's) No brainer, They are everywhere. Probably more than the zombies at this point! TRG-42 Seems fitting that these could be found rarely in police stations. Used allot in the EU, Ammo should be rare. Rifle even rarer. SV-98 Feels like it should be in here. SVD Classic rifle, id love to see this in the game. Possibly a super rare weapon in barracks, or even houses. Its up for speculation. M24 Fairly Standard, Should Typically be rare. I like the weapon but im not fussed if its in or not. FN FAL Fairly uncomon. To give better use to the 7.62 round. Will make a good mid ranged rifle. Bushmaster ACR: Nice weapon, it will make a nice rare find. Rare: Purely My preference Pistols: TT-33: This would be an awesome find. Capable of penetrating light body armor. It will be definitely worth keeping. Can be found in any building due to its rarity. And probability that its someones keepsake. Glock 18C Wouldn't you want a bad-ass glock like this in game? Me Too!. Of course it wont come with all the attachments. SMG: PPSh-41 The image is enough. A smg on steroids. This will make anyone duck their heads. Kedr-PP91 KLIN This fuggly little guy fires at around 1000 rpm. Its the size of a standard pistol with its buttstock collapsed. Possibly another rare smg sought after for its compactness. it fires the common 9x18mm for the makarov. Giving more use to the round. HK MP5K Similar to the above, sought after for compactness and firepower. Can use most mp5 attachments for sights and silencers. Rifles: AN-94 ABAKAN This rifle is rare as it uses standard ak74 magazines and 5.45x39mm rounds. But also it has a two round burst at 1200 rpm. Effectively putting two rounds on exactly where you were aiming. Of course it will come with full auto too! AK-12 Just because. HK 416 - HK 417 I just like these rifles, and perhaps they could be better than the m4's? Who knows! AI AWM The ultimate bolt action of the game, it should be incredibly rare. Found in all houses due to some people using it as an target shooting rifle for extreme ranges. But more commonly found in army bases. ORSIS t-5000 Just looks like it should be rare. Looks kinda lightweight and compact. A pro to this rifle. As a footnote to the rare section, it would be essential that these weapons spawn with at least one magazine. Otherwise it would be utterly pointless in finding the weapon if it didn't have a magazine. On the other hand some weapons can use magazines from others such as the mp5k can use MP5 magazines and the AN-94 can use ak mags. Now im open to discussion and input is apreciated. If you have nothing constructive to post, for example ("ZOMG DMRS ARE ZE B3ST U CANT TAKE THEM OUT!") then you can just jog on.
  13. Look at it like this. With the way Rocket is going with development currently and what he has mentioned to be wanting to implement later, the ez-mode coastal warriors will soon move on to another game. SA won't be moddable for a long time. So those players will have to put up with what Rocket comes up with instead of modding the hell out of SA and changing it into nothing but a 100's vehicles and weapons galore like they did with the Dayz mod. That right there will get rid of the vast majority of the ez-mode kids. Just got to have some patience man. Have faith in the Rocket.
  14. As expected, most people don't bother to engage the points I made, instead chose to take it personally (obviously big fans of EZ mode) and make lazy one-line replies. (@dakisback - I realise that in it's current state there is not a lot of PvE content (fixing vehicles, making tents/stashes/bases, stockpiling gear) and there is not a lot do do except for PvP) I have been playing FPS games since they came out. I have been playing first persons since the original Wolfenstein and Doom games (also played the original Operation Flashpoint (1985 Cold War Crisis) and it's expansions (Red Hammer/Resistance) and all the ArmA games. Lately I have found most FPS games to be extremely derivative and boring (I am looking at you CoD & Battlefield Series). Let me repeat. I don't want KoS removed or even discouraged in a way that would break the sandbox feel of DayZ. All I am saying is that KoS is an easiest possible way to play this game. There is less challenge, it is less interesting. I know, because I have played the mod extensively (Vanilla and many other sub-mods such as DayZero, Epoch, Overwatch, Breaking Point etc...) using all possible play-styles. By far the easiest (and least imaginative and boring) playstyle is going 100% serial killer on all other players (including unarmed freshspawns on the coast). My main point is this; there already exist ez-mode shooters where there is no role-playing/sandbox/survival aspect where you can KoS to your hearts' content. Why do people insist on playing DayZ only to play it is the most un-DayZ way possible? When I first got into the mod in it's early dayz it was a breath of fresh air, something new and exciting. Now, its turning into just-another-multiplayer-shooter-to-add-to-the-pile. Which is disappointing and boring as shit. I am trying to provoke thought and discussion on the state of kos in this game, hopefully I can influence at least some of you to try the survivor (normal mode) and hero (hard mode) play styles. I don't want Rocket to have to implement any anti-kos measures like a return of the humanity system (in it's mod form at least) or survivor/bandit skins. I would much rather people moderated their own play-styles so we have a good mix in the game. This game needs bandits, survivors and heroes to be healthy. What I am worried about, as history has shown us with the mod, is that the trend towards banditry will become a slippery slope and soon that will be the only viable play-style. I have read many threads where players say they have started out trying to play a hero or survivor but because the rate of KoS is so high they have no choice to become a mindless ez mode killer like the rest. I am fine with getting killed by bandits, any area with miltiary loot I consider fair-game for KoS. I don't cry when I am killed and need to start again. NWAF is a area where you go when you are looking for PvP with the big boys, Balota PvP is scrub central. What ruins it for me is when people start acting in really cheesy, gamey, beardy ways that break my immersion and bring me back to the fact that I am playing a game. It's the suspension of disbelief I am referring to, it's like watching an old movie and seeing the wires in the stunt scenes. all of a sudden you are not watch characters on the screen but merely actors in a studio. It ruins mah immersion bruv! KoS is not a problem, the rate of KoS can become a problem when KoS becomes the only viable play-style

    But with more than just the next patch. Like, "We'll have containers that can be placed and hold things", and "vehicles including helicopters, planes, boats, and UAZs", and as a more permanent fixture of the site and not just a post in the forum.

    I don't particularly like the idea of standardising ammo, but it's nothing but practical. Seriously, having every kind of ammo you would in real life would be ridiculous to manage - and take up huge amounts of inventory space once tents and vehicles are added and people start collecting each weapon.

    Welcome to the game, and welcome to Elektro (thats the city with 2 fire stations). I do suggest seeing the sights of Chernarus, it is a beautiful map. For now, wander around and meet people. No sense in getting attached to your gear, as its DayZ. There will be alot more content added. Eventually there will be some form of base building. Though to what extent I do not know. The way the servers work is a 'public hive' meaning no matter the server you connect to, you're character, equipment you are carrying, and complete status of your character (health and location) go with you. However, when base building comes along, you're base will be server specific. Same with vehicles, there will be vehicles on every server, but say you park one on a server and logout, that car will not be in that location on another server (though will remain at that spot on the server you parked it on... unless someone finds and steals it).

Everybody is in the look out for their self preservation this is a human behavior that we can predict, once we find that the threat is not a threat then we go into moral details. It got worst because mods came out, privet hives came out with 600+ vehicles and so on but the primary reason is what i said above

    As many gun variants as possible should be added, I think - but maybe standardize ammo a little more than real life to make it easier. Once vehicles and bases (tents, omg, want) have been added, it'd be very nice to build up a stash of weapons.

    The Just Cause 2 mod that was made by utter amateurs has a better netcode than Dayz and it's a mod for a single-player game. Oh, and each server (which is indeed persistent for thousands of vehicles) can hold up to 5000 players. At the same time. The map is also pretty freaking big. Also, to the person saying battlefield 4 has horrible netcode, please... It feels like a miracle of engineering compared to Dayz. I don't know what beans you guys are eating, but they're definitely rotten. You're defending Dean as if he's the leader of a cult.
  21. Hello, My name is a Drunken. I'm a 28 year old residing in the United States. I've been playing Day Z since around the release of the mod and have played various versions of said mod. While I won't claim to be the best shot, or even a good shot, I do enjoy playing tactically, playing smart, but this isn't about me, this is about the group I'm looking to form up. Whilst bandits and the nonsense that comes up with coast hunters don't bother me at all, it does seem to ruin the experience of some new players. I imagine it to be quite frustrating to be starting out new, in a new game, without much knowledge, only to die repeatedly at the hands of a child armed with a Balota M4, or having to spawn in to a freshly picked coastline with no loot whatsoever. Do not misunderstand, I am not discouraging banditism (I think I just made up a new word.), but I want to give these fresh spawns a fighting chance at survival...This is where my Lawbringer Initiative comes into play. I'm looking for veterans, new players, and the like looking to essentially bring law to the lawless! We will scrounge up supplies, fit them in back packs or those golden protected cases and create kits to drop off to fresh players. We will provide a leg up to those wanting to be a human being in-game. We will patrol the coasts of the servers we play on, hunting down murderers and highway men. We will restore order in a land of chaos! Restore faith in humanity, and bring justice to those who are wronged! DO NOT CONTACT ME IF ALL YOU WANT IS TO GET GEARED UP AND HUNT PEOPLE DOWN! Requirements: At least 18 years of age Mature personality The ability to have fun in idle chat when not doing anything, but can maintain radio silence in dangerous situations No loot hoarding. Loot is to be shared and dispersed amongst those who need and can use it the most effectively. If you have never fired a sniper rifle, and one just so happens to pop up, that rifle is to go to the team's designated sniper. If said sniper already has a rifle, then you may use it if it is your intention to become a sniper for our team. The want to make a difference in the game world by helping others and punishing those who are there just to cause grief. MUMBLE. We have our own Mumble server. You MUST have a microphone and MUST be willing to use Mumble. Death is inevitable. Do not become discouraged. Simply restart, re-kit, it's not that hard at all.     Why is the world of dayz so static ?

    The ONLY thing i agree with is a new engine for ArmA/DayZ, but NOT RIGHT NOW... A new engine for DayZ 2/sequel and ArmA 4 is a must though. And quite frankly, I have battlefield for destruction, i don't need or WANT it in DayZ... It's not needed. And ALLLLLLL the games you compare are on a brand new engine or have really small environments. Do you realize how long an engine takes to make? Look at your all mighty source engine! Portal 2 still uses it. Source 2 isn't even announced yet, and source is nearly 10 years old. So the Real Virtuality engine being 15 years old, isn't that old... NOT TO MENTION ALPHA!. I'm sure the devs will add tree falling when wood cutting and basic stuff like that. It's already in the engine. Their is just no need to break a fence. ALSO, ROCKET SAID THEY ARE REDOING VEHICLES BECAUSE HE WANTS MORE REALISTIC A) PHYSICS AND B ) REPAIRING. So really, the physics aren't that bad. I'm mean, consider ALL the physics that go into your gun in the ArmA engine. AND PEOPLE ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE ARMA 3 ENGINE. As much as i love the game, I should be able to run the game on high/medium settings at the least. I have 2 550 ti's in sli. Now, i would like to be able to run DayZ at fairly high settings thank you very much, and with the ArmA 3 engine DayZ would be unplayable because that engine is terribly optimized.
  23. I'm sure it's probably on the agenda. How much of a priority, hard to say. I mean each new type of building, I assume they have to manually add to each area to replace the existing ones once they have a model created. I believe this to be true as they had to manually go to every lake and add the function commands & zones for drinking and refilling. It's the same reason there's a couple of water pumps out there that don't work. Maybe it was intentional to have a couple of broken ones. I like that they added new areas on top of adding interior to existing ones. It shows just how much work they've put into it. If it was me, I'd put it on the bottom of the list. There's more pressing features to add. Like animals and cooking. Also I think once/if they add tents or storage items you can have one server this will lower the amount of server jumping. It'll still happen but people will tend to stick to a server once server side features are implemented such as vehicles or player created camps.
  24. We are still up and running with all of our additions - towns, roads etc. Stop by and have some fun. We just moved a bunch of vehicles back to the spawns in the south ready for you to get in the game.
