  1. I like the cloud system idea. Its like 200 servers out there now which all share the same database what is realy cool in terms of flexibility. Your fav server is down? No problem 199 others waiting for you, just with the downside of not having your tents and vehicles but still abled to serve you some hours of cool gameplay. But be realistic. How many of those 200 servers do you ever play on? At the beginning I tested many servers but after getting rid of the "newb status" I had a hand full of servers I played on till they got screwed or went down or something. Especially when playing in a group you stick to one or maybe two servers. So why not use multiple databases. I will never play on an australian server due to ping limitations. You could set up Databases per region, one for all the european servers one for australian etc. If you want to play on another realm you can of course, but data is not shared. Less traffic, more performance. Advanced and even better to get rid of server hopping are custom networks. Like you host three servers and share one database for those three, so the only server you can hop on if you want to keep playing with your stuff is hosted by the same guy, making detection of death dodgers possible. Or hosts merge their servers to one community with shared database. Its a question of how much flexibility we realy need.

An hour or so ago I was playing on Seattle 4 with some friends, myself and on of which was in Cherno on top of some buildings looking for loot when all of a sudden there were massive explosions, like building tall explosions. They seemed to happen in small groups of about 4 or 5 about 3-6 minutes apart, after the third or so group of explosions we started asking in Side if anyone knew wtf was going on and no one did. Flash forward a couple minutes and on of my other friends on his way to cherno said he saw a vehicle firing something and moments later there were more explosions in cherno. He said he saw the person operating the vehicle (in game name "Trustworthy Jew") and called him out for the explosions in cherno, supposedly then Trustworthy Jew got out and the vehicle disappeared. He logged off a few minutes later None of us have FRAPs or know the screenshot button so we don't have any proof but are explosions/vehicles like that legitimately possible? Can we bomb towns for the fuck of it or was it just a hacker?

    I think it would see more use if you could booby trap vehicles, tents, entrances. But you should be able to spot them IF you are looking for them. Zeds should also be able to trigger booby traps.

The only point I can think of is killing other players that have good gear, just to lower the competition between the elite players, and keep a differential advantage and maintaining my top position. I think surviving should be a lot harder in the northern part of the game world - At least 3x the zombie count. Zombies should spawn in the forest as well (north). Also, right now zombies can't hit you as long as you keep running. How about making the zombies to be able to hit you as they run, so that they don't stop to bite you?

    What to do when you have the best gear?

    Sandbox=endgame at the beginning, it means you make whatever end game you want, most people hunt other players and since most players are on the coast, thats where they go a.k.a the Bean Wars. And since you think vehicles are to loud (pussymuch?) and bases are 'stupid' I guess you are left with the Bean Wars or the walking simulator. Or you could take a break until new features are implemented.

    The Problems With Tents

    I am also unable to place tents, even in the middle of a soccer field. Add this to vehicles not spawning anywhere on any servers and it makes storage impossible.
  8. Probably should have said "can't be done easily within the engine". You can check if objects exist in someone's pack, like with repairing vehicles. Not sure if you can force an object into a pack though... Canonically, it'd probably be more of a "I found an M4, but the stock is broken" type deal, where you then have to find another M4, as opposed to "I found the stock to an M4 sitting in a field". Giving every weapon a random defect might be interesting, though you'd probably have to have a separate weapon instance for each possible malfunction.

    Can't repair vehicles 1.5.8.4

    Probably won't get a clear confirmation of it being fixed but it stems from the save options being stuck on the scroll wheel most likely. * [NEW] Construction options moved to items in gear menu (right click wire fencing kit to use etc...) They might make it in the gear menu like they have done with construction. Like i stated with before Vehicles can be refueled with a quick relog next to the vehicle getting the option before the save option is stuck. I Hope this gets fixed i can only steal so many working vehicles before new ones spawn and cant be repaired

Zombies can also turn players however zombie player infected are given control of the local zombie( A.I) horde. Zombie players can also use weapons, A.I zombies and hordes can't as they are civilian infected, etc..     I just looked through the whole thread hoping to find a post by rocket about a couple issues. First, I saw he said that he fixed vehicles not being repairable. Thanks so much, that's awesome. Second, I couldn't find him saying he fixed being able to place tents. :( Currently, I can't place a tent ANYWHERE. Not even on the flattest road with no trees or bush anywhere near. Hopefully a fix for this makes into the patch.

    true this sometimes happens to us aswell! honestly why do I see 20 pages of freaking heatpacks and nothing about tents/vehicles! I don't know about you guys but I will trade a 100 heatpacks for 1 freaking working tent!
  15. Ok you want a game mechanic for it? Make it so zombies migrate in from the north and west edges of the map, make it so that you can clear out zombies in the towns, make it so that you can build equipment to manufacture parts for cars, casing and powder for bullets and other such things, make it so that to get these things running you have to travel to the north and western parts of the map, make it so your tents/vehicles storage area doesn't reset on server crashes/restarts. Those are just a few ideas that poped into my head, are they possible? I have no idea. How would they effect the game? Still not sure, I'm a player not a developer and I can only see how it would effect me and my friends I know.

    p4lztZ is on to something i think.. Players tents and saved vehicles (if unclaimed) should despawn when the player dies, perhaps after 10-15 minutes of the player dying, that or the owner should not be able to see whats inside (blank inventory).

    The tents are working as intended, they're just hard as tits to place. For vehicles, the only issue is the repair menu ( wich rocket said it's fixed in 1.5.9 ) and the absence of any respawn for them ( like loot ). Dunno saying " vehicles and tents are broken " while it's not.
  21. My server have also no vehicle, but i think its so importand for long time experience. Tents for Saving good stuff like NVG or some othe Items. I hope the vehicles comming back so fast as possible

    Skins! PLEASE READ.

    Lootable skins? Suggestion! Good day fellow members, Rocket has mentioned that he is designing a way for lootable skins to be retreived by the player and then further worn. But how will this work? Not even i am sure, although if rocket is still not 100% sure himself, i have an idea which i think will be properly balanced, challenging, fun and rewarding. Skins previously were linked to humanity, and the skin could be changed on the fly depending on if you shot someone or if you gave someone some medical attention. So its already been proven that skins can be certainly changed in realtime (With some minor blips, but this is of course an alpha development). I suggest that the skin system be lootable to an extend but not the same way as the normal loot spawns. I propose that skins be found in "Parts", that take up one inventory slot and stack in that inventory slot, After all the parts are made, you are given the "full" usable entity, allowing you to right click the item and "Wear" or "Remove", putting you back to the default skin. The way that you would find the parts of these clothing would be from slaying the particular zombie, or going to particular places to find these particular skins, and depending on the skin itself, its spawn rate might be dependant on either how many zombies have been spawned on the server, or by how many players out of max slots on the server there are. ( meaning skins only spawn if a %/50 players are on in some scenario's ). Military skins would be unlocked by shooting airfield spawned zombies (NOT DEERSTAND MILS), A zombie has a 1/50 chance of spawning a peice of the clothing, and a minimum of 20 peices are required to get the full set. The combination of having to really farm a location, along with having a minimum amount of players out of max slots, means that people cannot simply join a low populated server and expect to find it everywhere. This makes looking for military skins in particular very difficult, as airfields are hotspots. Another example of a way to achieve a skin is not by a physical item, but by reaching a milestone. You repair lots of vehicles? Repair a minimum of (enter parts and # here ) and you will get a specific engineer skin You the dedicated medic? use so many bandages, epi pens, morphine, and BT's on other players ( enter # of each here ) and you will get a specific medical officer skin You like to use sniper rifles a lot? (CZ-50 + # of kills) Get a minor sniper suit! Like hunting animals? (# of animals gutted ) and you will get the hunter skin! The list can go on and on, If you want a farmer skin simply go to a barn and slay the zombies around there for cloth, or simply use the acheivement way of doing things. How does this fit with the "Realism" side of DayZ? Simple, When a zombie is infected the clothes they are wearing will be clotted with blood and disease, making wearing these items very unbearable. By stitching together parts of items of clothing together that are not stained by zombie sweat and blood, you lower the risk of just pulling off a zombies outfit and becoming seriously ill. The achievement system (which can run in conjunction with the item system or not, by the way) can also signify the fact that a player is simply focusing on a style of gaming, his character gets better and better at his way of survival, and has accustomed his clothing to help better aid him and be more use to him. Please, if you read this give a comment or some reputation, this is merely an idea but i would love to get some response from players, admins, or developers alike.
