How do you get a vehicle to persist? The other night I found a military truck (well friend stole it by murdering the two occupants with a shotgun after they broke his legs trying to run him over) and my friends and I parked it deep in the woods no where near anything or on a route between areas. When we logged back in our truck was missing so. It's possible someone found it and took it, but I'd like to make sure I know the rules behind how this works as well. How long does a vehicle stay where it is on that server? Does a server reset place the vehicle back where it was like it does with tents? How do I get a vehicle to remain there for us to use when we play again?

Add way of adding people to your group
FrankDaTank1218 (DayZ) replied to justiceabove's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think joining a group should be done like this: If you walk up to a player, a context action should appear when next to them, like the "give Morphine/Bandages" option, it would be "invite to group" or something, and the player who receives the invite can accept or decline it through the context menu. -Only group members nametags come up if you aim at them. -Group members locations show up on the map. -Tents, fences, campfires, and tank traps made by groupmates show up on the map, as well as vehicles used or repaired by groupmates. -Group members only stay in the group for that one instance on the server, if they leave to another server or log off at all, they have to find the members and re invite them to have the group again, AKA groups shouldn't be persistent. -
For a trial run it went pretty well, all things considered. I went in expecting all of us to die, though with 16 people there's not too much of a chance of that. Mostly we just gotta figure out communication, discipline, and security. On the topic of the boat, that's a much longer term goal. Once we get the server sorted out (we're looking for something with at least nametags), we can proceed to figure out vehicles. And imagine what it'd be like to walk into a warehouse with 16 guns pointed at you :D

UK6 server gone mad
kriegar69@gmail.com replied to kriegar69@gmail.com's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hah well yeah I suppose but the only way to avoid it would be to find another vehicle on another server and stash them there, however with the state of the game as it is the now iv been losing vehicles left right and centre due to the servers fucking up with the patches so at the moment it seems there is no point in spending any time finding nice weapons which renders at least 50% of playing this game useless -
You can join by simply adding the [beanditz] tag to your profile! We have no rules, we do have guidelines to enhance your gaming experience however, I'll list those at the end of my post. Currently we're using skype as a voip, however we have a 500 slot ventrilo server at our disposal. Now for a little speech: We Beanditz are a proud and respected bandit clan. We do not kill without reason. We do not kill without hesitation. We do however, kill for the lulz. == Beanditz Guidelines == *When interrogating an unarmed survivor, always allow a bribe of 1 can of beans. If they refuse then DESTROY THEM! *Do not kill someone because they have better gear than you, that's boring as shit and everyone does that. Instead, kill them and loot them, then fill their entire inventory with FLASHLIGHTS! *Don't steal vehicles unless they are within "direct voice range". No point in stealing it if you can't taunt them. Instead get far off in the woods and snipe the vehicle every time they try to repair it. Trolling to the MAX! *ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS carry some sexy beans on your person. If the bean god catches you without a companion who knows what may happen?f

Haha well that happens sometimes... Anyway I do like your ideas. I think it would be better if you could strip some vehicles down for parts so you don't have to search for them. Maybe even add a gas siphon option or something. With the helicopters I agree. Even though I've never found one yet I've seen pictures and they look like it would be rather difficult to find anything in the overgrown grass.
-
Everyone has been at that point where you just needed that one more part to fix up your vehicle. Ofcourse in that situation the item you're looking for never is there but an abundance of other items which you don't need. What i'm suggesting isnt for items to be balanced spawns(one of each in a factory for example) since i think the current system of randomisation is fine. What i'm thinking of is that parts from vehicles should be detachable. Let's say you find 2 ATV's. Both ATV's need 2 more wheels. What you should be able to do is remove 2 wheels from one ATV and place them on the other one. This doesn't make the game easier in my idea but it does give it more depth. Also another suggestion i would like to make is that crashed helicopter loot should be easier to find on the ground. I've found alot of crashed helicopter spawns in the past week, and i'm not debating whether or not there should be more or less spawns. What i'm simply suggesting is that the loot that is at the helicopter, should be easier to identify. At it's current state, the loot is laying around the helicopter, in the grass. It can be very time consuming to find every part, and even then you can never be completely sure you found everything. As a fix, i would let the gear stay on the same spot, but make the ground it's on stand out more. One idea would be to make the ground "burned out" from the helicopter crash so it's black/grey. A constant color background without vegetation should make gear stand out more and easier to find. I hope these suggestions arent reposts and that you can do something with it.

Bikes need to slow the hell down. My squadmate almost careened into a forest by going so fast on her bike! Also, an increased number of vehicles should be present, of course not operational.
-
Okay so vehicles are obviously one of the biggest "do-wants" in all of DayZ, and have driven most if not all cars in DayZ, even the huey I have to say that Vehicles have to be fixed, fast. Vehicles are so useful in DayZ, but this is negated due to the fact that they're more fragile than your limbs which seem to be held in place by nutella. Take the V3S Truck for example, if you hit a small fence/roadblock at around 5km/h and if the wheels are damaged - it will explode. Get stuck on a fucking aluminium can? It will explode. This happens to pretty much every vehicle, only the Military Offroad seems to be working properly. So what has to be fixed: • Vehicles take WAY too much damage from hitting objects. • Can survive tons of bullets, a tin can? Fuck no. You die. • Vehicles get stuck on objects too easily and usually results in the vehicle exploding. • Inventory "Calculator" - Showing how much room is used and how much it has, very much like the backpacks. • ATVs flip from nothing, ATVs are meant to be offroad but as soon as they go offroad - they will flip eventually. Seems to be highly reproducible going uphill. • ATVs needs to either be fixed or given the option to flip it back. • Cars are too slow off-road. • More? That's pretty much all I can come up with right now, if anyone else have some ideas/suggestions feel free to post them and I'll add them to the list!

Rocket I love you: Going out of bounds - exploit or acceptable?
Shoarmaboer replied to Publik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As someone who has attempted to build camps outside of map boundaries I can tell you that it's pretty much undoable now. Afaik you can place tents out of the boundaries but you cannot actually interact with them, and that also counts for any item you drop outside the map boundaries aswell (buggy behaviour, you can only see tents when you look at them with a zoomed view or bino's). Also due to some vehicle hotfixes there's a chance for vehicles to explode/despawn when they are outside of map boundaries, we've already had it happen to us once after a server reboot. This just means you have to find a good hiding spot within the map boundaries and hope for the best. As a member from a pretty big group (8+) I can say that this is actually a good thing, because it makes it hard for us to have keep alot of vehicles around. This causes us to 'ditch' vehicles we really don't need and it gives other players a chance to obtain a vehicle and reap its benefits :D. -
#Writeable Notes //Players can place and edit notes for other players. They can be placed on bodies, loot area's, broken vehicles, tents, etc. #Fox Holes //Players can stockpile loot like a tent but in a more realistic way, with a fox hole.

The best part was when they moved to a new location after the initial raid (which at the time they just assumed it was a legit raid) that is when things got weird as within hours of their new camp set-up, it had been found, and ripped them to shreds. Fishy, hell yeah it is. BTW, the server restart wasnt them. Just the server doing its scheduled restart. If it was them, and they were being malicious, why would they wait til after those guys stole everything? Also, that server message has been on their for weeks, and it clearly doesnt say anything about stealing loot, it says loot farming. Big difference. Ever wonder why places like the firehouse are completely blocked off by barbed wire with no way in or out? That's a loot farmer inside it server hopping to the firehouse in dozens of server, and is an exploit and IMO should be very bannable. Their is a huge infux of cheating and hacking in Day z atm. Teleporters, aimbots, wallhacks, ammo crate spawning, scripts to detect where all vehicles are on the map ect ect. It's really getting out of hand, and Battleeye is severely limiting what an admin can do about it. Ive never heard of a game that doesnt log who killed someone. Arma 3 needs Punkbuster. At least with it admins have some tools at their disposal (pb screenshots, pbbans, cvar/md5 checks) that they can utilize to help detect cheaters. Right now Battleeye just doesnt cut it.

Atlanta 42 is fresh and some vehicles just re-spawned. It's only a 30 slot but it will be 45 soon. You should come by sometimes.

i love the idea of two large groups going at it in all out war, both sides could be ready for a huge attack, Trading Post being the best equipped but bandits have the element of surprise. Helicopter attack whilst people are charging the post and vehicles zooming in to get close enough to jump out and try to infiltrate. when/if servers get bigger (100-200).... would be enough to make even the most strong boweled men poo in excitement

And I suppose you guys want rid of hunger, thirst, temperature, weather, cooking, hunting, using meds and gathering materials / fuel for vehicles too? Since these things aren't exactly amazingly fun and maybe too "realistic" for your zombie game. Realism and survival simulation are a huge part of this mod. Even the description on the dev heaven site (which I assume rocket wrote) says: "The first and thus best, free-roaming, SURVIVAL MOD for Arma 2. Comes with a free side order of Zombies" So yes, zombies aside, I'd like some consistent realism with the survival mod.

My suggestions to add new gameplay elements
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to herd's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Fine, I'll bite. Incoming wall of text, beware! Like was said above, you get a warning, when you get too close they verbally freak out, when they aggro, they freak even more. Also, how does this allow for better sneaking? If you're seen you shouldn't get a grace period before you get attacked. Think realistically here, if you're spotted, you're spotted, end of story. Not to mention this would only improve sneaking for the people who suck at it. Changing the HUD is going to be purely cosmetic, so it's not really worth our time analyzing that. But, your idea about the eye telling you when zombies are about to or have spotted you is making things way too easy on people. Why would anyone use flares, flashlights or chemlights if the magical icon tells you when you get close to a zombie? Why should I know that zombies might be able to hear me on the other side of a wall or object? If anything like this was to be implemented, it should be a totally different icon, maybe a zombie face with bars when you get close. But I don't want to see it happen. They stop when you get out of their line of sight. Run through a building or around some trees or other objects. Once you get out of sight, start sneaking and move away because they look around from the last place they saw you. I can't comment on how broken melee is since I haven't used it myself. I did watch another survivor crawl up to zeds and wack them with 1 shot of the axe. So, it didn't look broken to me. But you mention bleeding/broken legs as the reason melee is broken? I'm confused about that bit. Doesn't matter how many zombies you aggro, getting out of LOS will lose the whole pack usually. Not sure what you're suggesting here, since you just said you what you think is broken. No, simply no. Broken bones and bleeding are what keep people from mingling with the zeds. There needs to be a consequence for getting hit or for not having full blood level. This suggestion seems like it would just make the game easier. Disagreed, a large axe or crowbar is about the same size weight of a rifle, not a pistol. Leave the melee for people without firearms. The zombies already drop ammo, food, drinks, bandages, meds, etc. So they already drop useful items in my opinion. Perhaps you could elaborate on this one? What kinds of items did you imagine they'd drop? I could maybe agree with more variety based on type of zombie, like a soldier zombie would have a rare drop of a frag grenade or smoke. But, I don't think giving them stuff of significant value would be smart since the zombies respawn and could be farmed/grinded. I think there is more than enough loot already in the game. If you look at some of the maps on google it's amazing how much stuff is in every town/city. There is a chance loot won't spawn, so while it might seem like there is none sometimes, it's just the luck of the draw. This is something similar to what I've suggested, I wanted more vehicles and rarer parts. But, I've heard that vehicles are a big source of lag for the servers, so adding more might not be feasible. Hell no! It sure as hell doesn't add to my "atmosphere" if i see a wall of fog 200m in front of me at all times. I'd even like to see this go the other way and the view distance increased. What's it at now? ~500m? Not sure what you're doing wrong, but I can go prone in the grass and be invisible to zeds when not moving. No bars on ear or eye icons. Yeah, I could dig it, but then why don't we turn into zombies when we get hit/bit? And how long would this guy walk around for? Would it benefit the game if we had player bodies full of loot running around everywhere? Whos machine figures out his pathing if nobody is near him? Does he cease to exist if nobody is within view/spawn distance? I have heard this suggestion a few times, and there is a lot of discussion about it in other threads. Nah, infected humans should all be the same. Unless maybe you added body armor to the soldiers and made them barely take damage when shot in torso. But even then, they would take 1 m1911 round to the arm and be dead. This idea could be good, depending on how it was tackled. They're infected humans, so a bullet in the brain will mean death, infection or not. Even if they were the walking dead, I don't think this would add to gameplay, it would just appear to most players that the death of zombies is bugged. It goes against logic to kill something and randomly have it come back to life. What? Was it sleeping? LOL -
Are items permanent when you drop em on the ground?
Greenhound replied to purplehazetoss's topic in New Player Discussion
No, if you want to save items you'll need a camping tent or a vehicle with storage space. Then you will need to note down the server this was on, as camping tents and vehicles are only saved server-side. Also, make sure you hide it well. -

Problem 1: Vehicles/their spawns The main problem causing no vehicles on the map is the RADAR ON THE HELICOPTERS, REMOVE IT PLEASE. Vehicles in DayZ are now out of map zones/saved to someone offline etc. So there is now no vehicles spawned hardly anywhere on most full servers. This takes away the want to go to other towns to search for vehicles since hey I'm on foot for 4 hours running to a town to fin there are no vehicles to fix then die. Solution: De-spawn Timer 24 hr, Crafting Vehicles Vehicles need to be de-spawned after 24 hours of not being saved. This will clean up servers of ditched vehicles that are saved in no-mans land. Toolbox is needed to start the crafting process by right-clicking on the toolbox you can select a range of crafting options, the most basic is crafting a bicycle , which can then be upgraded to a motor bike etc. ( with adding more materials and items of course ) Example: Problem 2: Player Spawns / loot spawns Also the spawns are mainly in the kameko, cherno, electro areas, this makes for alot of people dieing, no loot to be spawn in those areas and more dieing with no gear. Solution: Add Item to place beacon( spawn location) This item can be place on the world much like the tent it too has placing requirements that must be met before you can place it, it is saved you alone and is your re-spawn point, once used the ITEM IS DESTROYED you must get a new one. It can also be demolished by your enemies. I really feel all this scrap metal, tires, cans, fuel parts and all this stuff isn't getting used and this would be an extremely fun way to do this.

Guys, there's a truck that (I think) we all know which one and where, is stuck in a pole or even if not, it's back wheels are stuck into the ground as it so looks like. Any idea on how to move it out or experience on how you moved a stuck vehicle yourselves? Thanks.

Rocket I love you: Going out of bounds - exploit or acceptable?
macnana replied to Publik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's the same as a game of football except you take away the ball. People try to find vehicles, assholes take them out of the map where people don't bother looking. Shows that they're scared to lose their loot and enjoy an unfair advantage over others. -
Following suggestions will ADD to the gameplay without braking the core gameplay Rocket has in mind. The main idea is to add new gameplay elements to give players "more stuff to do" without turning the game into a regular FPS shooter. You still will die, but you will have more things to do and live maybe a little bit longer. Right now I feel the game being boring due to few things you can do. * zombies should not aggro on you instantly. You should get a warning, before they aggro. See below. -> allows for better sneaking mechanic, improves the gameplay. Doesnt punish the player immediately. * The "eye" indicator should change its color to more white (or any color or any other implementation) if the zombie is about to spot you. Zombies could make some aggro sound letting the player know he is about to get spotted. -> Instant zombie aggro brakes the game. Players should have a chance to hide w/o being spotted immediately. * If you are "spotted" by any zombie the eye indicator should let you know that. In my example being completely white and/or represent an open eye and/or flashing eye indicator. If zombies loose aggro on you the eye changes its state in to "not detected" again. -> the player should know that he is "hidden" again. * Zombies should stop following the player after some time. -> Right now almoust no escape mechanic if unarmed. Melee is broken too due to bleeding/broken legs. See below. -> better trial and error game play. Try to loot the town - fail - run away - come back later. Right now if you dont have any weapons you are most likely going to die. Running around the town to hope to get out of LOS will aggro even more zombies. * Nerf/remove bleeding from zombies. REMOVE broken legs from zombie attacks. Buff zombie damage and/or buff zombie HP. -> better game play, no insta death if broken leg or bleeding. -> players should have better chances fighting zombies with melee weapons. See below why. * Melee weapons should go into the secondary slot. -> better gameplay. More realistic w/o braking the game. -> still can have that empty weapon and kill some zombies for loot. * Let zombies drop _significantly_ bigger variety of items. The chance of dropping anything useful at all should also be increased. -> better game play -> killing zombies for loot will be very addictive and profitable (see Diablo series) * More spawn places overll - i.e. in front of _every_ building. -> small towns will actually be useful now. * (With the above being implemented) * Allow for _much_ more non broken vehicles to be able to drive "out of the box." Since small towns will become a good place too loot, driving across the whole map adds to the game. -> doesnt brake the game but rather improves it gameplay wise. You will still need to get fuel or repair the vehicle if being damage. -> more people will hunt and kill for vehicles. * Reduce the view distance and/or add fog to the whole map -> adds to the atmosphere + reduces being one shot by a sniper. -> adds to the element of surprise. * proning should make you almost invisible to zombies. Right now the detection range is way too high. * (could be hard to implement) * Some time after player's death a zombie with (the same) player's model should spawn at the same spot having ALL the gear the player had. Killing this zombie will let you loot his items. This zombie should have more HP and/or damage. -> New game play element of hunting dead players. * (could be hard to implement) * Make elite zombies with more HP/damage. They should have higher chance of dropping very good items. -> new game play element. * New zombies should not spawn out of the thin air but rather dead zombies should randomly revive. -> think twice before going near dead zombies.

"Attention; certain details and names are being kept from the public" I spawn into the last server I had on my server list, and there it is..the Mother-load of all looters dream, make a leopard purr type of loot . When I spawned in there was 5 vehicles and a crap load of tents, what seemed like they were duped. I cautiously scanned the perimeter to make sure it was clear. It was. I then moved into the barracked small fortress like some Metal Gear Solid/Splinter Cell agent..."really cause all I had was a silenced M9". I began my loot and moving the goodies. On my second or third trip back, as I was going through their tents full of ammo.. a person spawned in..running up to the tent I was at and just looked at me. My blood began pumping and was trying to figure out why the hell he didnt shoot me? Then he faced the tent I was rumbling through and it clicked! He thought I was one of the clan members... Silly boy I thought as I slowly raised my Silenced M9, then shot him in the head. He got on the "Direct Com" channel and said, " DUDE ITS ME WTH?" I giggled.. and continued my rummage, taking as much ammo as I could possibly hold. When I noticed another clan member was connecting I quickly ran into a bush and took cover.. scanning the ridge. Then... I saw him.. he was in a ghillie suit laying down scanning the tent area. I was in a bush behind some tents and quickly tried to think my way out of this. I equipped the M4 I snagged from them and loaded it.. I then slowly strafed right until he was in plain few of my iron-sights. PANG PANG PANG- he was dead. When my friend joined in, I gave him the skivvy on what was going on and came up with a plan.. he was going to watch my back as I continued my loot. When we got back to the spot I began my thing, when someone was at the tents, but he didnt see my because I was lying down behind the tents...I told my buddy and like some Secret Sniper, PANG..."tango down" as I watched the guy collapse beside me. Continuing my loot my buddy told me he heard some foot-steps by him...he quickly turned around and dropped the guy sneaking around him. After that, I told him to bug out because I wanted to be a dic*.. I went to their weapons tent and grabbed their M249 SAW with 3 boxes. Layed down and began destroying their trucks they had. "Ultimate sabotage/loot yes I know" I destroyed 3/5 vehicles, but the 2 that were left I shot the tires out and basically were useless. Out of the whole looting, I grabbed close to 60 mags of 5.56, 20 5.56SD, 8 NVGS, couple rifles.. range finders, GPS's...amazing I know.. Best Story I've had in awhile
-
I just wanted to say thanks to the group of players that had set up a really nice camp consisting of 6-7 vehicles on the Norway 4 server. We really found those vehicles useful, especially when we checked inside of them.. ghillie suits, DMRs and M240s... Loved those! Many thanks! Oh and if by any chance you were among the people we killed in the NW airfield who had a bus and awesome loot like NVGs and rangefinders.. You should keep a lower profile if you want to avoid getting sniped like that again ;)

How do you personally deal with ghosting, and overlay hacking.
MyalTerego posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ive been a survivor for about a month now, maybe more like 3 weeks. I have gone from getting a beat down every respawn in cherno or elektro within 30 min, to usually surviving 6-8 hours. I am usually fully geared now with alice pack, map, compass, 1911 with plenty of ammo, a full auto capable assault rifle, and the ability to heal myself and my buddies, and cook meat, each respawn before i die. So I am not a total noob anymore. I know how to deal with zeds, I can get blood bags, I can take out spawns at crashed heli's solo np. What my issue is, and I am not asking for a nerf, but how to deal with it. Currently the last 7 deaths I have had, have been from getting shot in the back at point blank range. Even in random houses that really have no real value, and aren't worth server hopping for loot. Someone hears me, I hear them, i begin searching for them, and they are conveinantly gone. Que 2 min later, they are directly behind me, no sound or sight of them approaching , pointed directly at me. Bang, time to start a new charactor that days journey is at an end. They risk absolutely nothing. Ive also got a freind, that has tested an overlay of sorts that shows players on the map, vehicles, tents, and loot piles. Hes not sure what you can do to not get caught using it, but its definately out there, and most likely requires an admins help to not get banned using it. We decided to try and investigate the rash of very coincidental deaths lately, is why he even tested it. Also I know these guys are just finding players, with the overlay, ghosting behind them, and logging back in and gunning them down. What do you do to protect against that? Have any of you come up with valid tactics? Its pretty infuriating. And I know I signed up to post this thread, its not because im a sperging neckbeard, its because I have just lurked, and learned enough, that I didnt need to ever post anything, until now. I want to enjoy this game, but getting shot in the back every death, and not even by snipers, as I am good at using cover and avoiding obvious trap spots, really sucks. What do I do, aside from rage quitting.
