Chenarus need for blood...a bit ridiculous
willieredneck posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was running around last night far north of the NW airfield, really just checking out the map to see what was up there, maybe find some vehicles or tents, and to just travel around. I was running by Skalka when those rocks just reached out and grabbed me. I was at a full sprint running alongside the hill, when I hear that familiar sound of getting hit, followed by my player suddenly falling down. A few seconds later, I see the "You are Dead" screen. Not exactly sure what could have possibly caused this to happen, but I was quite unhappy to say the least. Worse is that I was playing at night, so trying to get back up there was, quite frankly, impossible since spawning w/o a weapon in the dark is really a death sentence. Ah well, guess will have to create a new chapter as a hatchet murdurer......lol -
No. It only stays on the server you deploy it in. Same goes for vehicles.

Have vehicles become super rare since the up-tick in players?
ZedsDeadBaby replied to Bloggz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Would you expect to find a gold bar sitting on the sidewalk in NYC? Go somewhere with less foot traffic, and your odds of stumbling across a vehicle are increased. In the last 21 days I have randomly stumbled across, stolen or repaired the following: 2x ATV 3x Bicycle 1x GAZ 2x Military Offroad 1x Motorcycle 2x Offroad Pickup Truck 1x UAZ 1x Small Boat At least half of these I stumbled on at their spawn points, missing critical parts, which I then ventured out to find. The others came from discovering other peoples' hiding spots, or places where it seems people carelessly ran out of gas or broke a wheel (easily repaired with a bit of time). With clever parking and care, I have kept some of these in my possession for over 15 days - traveling the length and breadth of the map. I did all this alone or with one partner sometimes. No big clan necessary. You're not being victimized by the big, bad hoarding clans - and if you are, go and find their base. The idea that they all hide off the map is bunk - many of my vehicle steals have come from on-map bandit camps containing 4-5 vehicles in addition to the one I stole. -
Haha nice, I did something similiar in the mission editor once for the lols. They are in the vehicles section, so if you can spawn hacked vehicles, which you can, then this is entirely plausible, and legendary!

I dont control the database but I control the server hanging on the database and the communication with that database is executed on my server and having wrong files/settings may disturbe that communication. So you are again wrong that I cant control hive problems. And realy fuck tents? My playerbase would kill me if I give a shit on their tents/vehicles (oh yeah if tents dont spawn vehicles dont do it neither) its a question of service for me to keep it up running with all the features the game provides and if anything goes wrong I investigate and either find a solution on my side or wait for a fix if it is a global problem.

Have vehicles become super rare since the up-tick in players?
Tfortacos (DayZ) replied to Bloggz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People store them away, they usually keep them in one spot and use it for item storage. I usually camp Stary for that red car that spawns there. Some times green mountain has an off-road but everyone always takes that one. Anyways to further help you on your quest for vehicles here's this map. http://dayzdb.com/map#3.060.083 It shows spawn rate on loot at areas, also has vehicle locations. -
I think this idea is quite nice. Imagine there is a safe city and some (7?) people went there for some suplies, teaming up and trading. One starts to shoot on another player, because of claiming loot or whatever. How do the other players react? Kill the aggressor? Running away? Or starting to shoot each other in a moment of chaos and confusion. --- In general this promotes to stay on one server with your character. Right now only tents and vehicles do so right now.

You obviously have no imagination. This is a sandbox, make your own fun. Set an objective and go complete it. - Raid NWAF for better gear - Look for vehicles to repair - Set up camp store spare gear - Raid a hospital so you have a tent full of spare medical gear - Put together a group on comms (its much more fun to do these things together) - Hunt bandits - Hunt players - Hunt zombies Hopfully more and more game mechanics will be introduced over the course of development so we can havea bigger choice of what to do.

play with friends, SOMEONE WILL DIE. And you have a new objective to get them geared again. Get a car, keeping it repaired and fueled is a common objective in my group. Become a vigilante in a high pop server, killing bandits in cherno, elektro, berezino, or wherever. swim as far as you can south. see if you can aggro more than 500 zombies throughout the entire map. find camps, destroy camps find vehicles, camp vehicles, destroy vehicles when another player repairs them Don't Know bro. My best answers were the first two, and they work for me just fine. Playing solo is BOOORING for me.

Map border & saving vehicles outside the map
Sarissofoi replied to qla's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Make the outside of map a toxic zone. So it will slowly kill players and give them disease. It also eats tents and vehicles. -
The definitive VEHICLE SPAWNS thread

Why do you think so? Vehicles it's a better place to save your stuff since devs removed ability to place tents outside the map. -
https://dev-heaven.net/issues/32339 First of all, I have not experienced this. Last time I experienced something like this was in a car around a month back, but the issue has been fixed since (atleast with land-vehicles). So can anyone actually repro this happening in helis with the current patch? Date/Time: - What happened: Passangers in aircraft will sometimes appear randomly on the ground or get ejected mid air after a [network/server hickup?] desync. The player getting ejected by having the player body/ragdoll placed in air where the chopper is instead of placed in he previous passanger seat. It then continues to fall to ground and die. Where you were: Helicopter What you were doing: Playing I am aware that this is (supposedly) a known bug, but I want discussion over this. Can it actually be reproduced with the current game version? Anyone with a chopper experience this lately?

i'm not a big fan of achievements(actually i think it's no content and waste of time). but why not make a optional quest to "leave this zombie overrunned place"? everyone is fascinated by the vehicles ingame and it's a common thought for real people to find a safe place to live in a zombie apocalypse! let's do this a goal for this game: TEAM UP AND LEAVE. We have airports, docks and roads. let's do a quest for 10-x people. Collect all the goods to leave this f'ing place! You must collect a lot of stuff and it's rare. distributed and lost all over the map. so many people must look out for the stuff! you can repair with that parts: - a ship - an airplane/heli - big bus to leave this place!!! it would be great: it's a real reason to team up and work together. maybe you need first to build a car for the transport of the big engines to the ships/airplanes. you can really play in a team even with random players. split up to search in sectors and coordinate your search. maybe implement walkie talkies to enable a chat-channel 1-15 to organize for every search team! the best: NOT everyone MUST play this. other players can do their own game and maybe there can be a battle or a race between two teams on one map! it would be great.

They blow up going over bushes as well. What's with all the vehicles blowing up? Can't they just be disabled and damaged without ejecting me and my amigo into the woods, breaking our legs and generally making our lives miserable because we drove over a twig.

Two deaths in thirteen are murders. That seems like a pretty good figure to me. A lot of folks are saying bandits are out of control, but them's clearly not the facts. (If you disagree, please do so elsewhere, I would like for this to be a place to contribute ideas, not debate gameplay. That can be done in the appropriate forum.) I'd like to open the discussion for ideas to improve the quality of PvP rather than trying to curb it. We want to create tense PvP situations where players are invested in their kills and in their life. Social tension, paranoia, desperation, you get the gist. You've all seen The Walking Dead. It's got zombies all over, but it's the social tension that really makes the show what it is. Same deal with Day Z. It's the player-player interactions fueled by this zombie apocalypse that make the best moments in the game. It's THESE kind of moments I want to see more of. If 1/13 deaths is something as exciting as this, PvP's doing pretty damn well. It's the sniped-out-of-nowhere mechanic that doesn't really add much tension after a certain point. (Once you know to avoid places you can easily be sniped, that mechanic's reached its saturation point.) THESE moments: http://imgur.com/a/6SEcl You get the gist. This is good PvP. This is what we love. So how do we make this happen more? My thoughts: 1) More Cooperative Goals (i.e. Blood transfusions, vehicles, etc.) 2) Create a need for partnership from the get-go. (Transfusions, outnumbered by zombies, etc.) I'd really like it if everyone in the community could give a quick idea or two here to improve the PvP experience. I'm not talking about nerfing weapons or punishing bandits, you get what we're after. Think subtle mechanics!

1: Vehicles do not carry over from server to server so there are still plenty of vehicles to find if you're in the right place at the right time. 2: Disconnecting to avoid death is generally frowned upon by the dayz community. If players disconnect while in shock (from large amounts of damage) they will fall unconscious upon logging in a server. During that time they may bleed to death but you will not have the opportunity to loot their corpse. I believe that rocket has stated that he considers it an exploit and will fix it in the near future.

So whats the deal with vehicles? I've spent countless hours with my squad roaming through different servers and locations to find a vehicle but to no avail. We used the day z wiki for locations and every time we get there its already gone. I also never see any and I play around 3-5 hours a day. Has every vehicle at this point been repaired and moved off map to the wastelands? This leads me to my next question/story. TLDR at the bottom. My squad and me decide to hit up the NE airfield for some loot. Before I continue, let me give you some details. There's 3 of us in total. I'm the sniper in the group with a CZ550. The other 2 have silenced weapons. One has a Bizon SD and the other a MP5 SD. While in the tower we encounter a zed at the top. The guy with my mp5 moves in for the kill on the stairs and gets one shot by the zed and dies... now we have a problem. We have to wait out in the airfield for our friend to re spawn and make the hike back to his body in order to retrieve his things. We quickly unloaded his bag and belongings and waiting for his arrival. Fast forward about 20 mins and he finally makes it back. Once he finishes gearing back up we hear for the very first time a car pull into the air field. So now we are on our toes and very excited about the fact that we might be able to steal this car. One covers the door and me and another head to the top. Unfortunately in our haste to get to the top we attract a zed to the roof and have to engage him. This provides the driver enough time to spot us and make a break for it. In all the commotion we did not see if he went into a hanger or drove in between and left. So we err'ed on the side of caution. I covered from the tower while the two moved in. After clearing the hangers we realized he had already made his escape, however he was not done. We once again hear his truck close by and disappear once again. So we quickly try to loot as much as we can and prepare for an ambush. A couple more minutes later as we clear the hangers of any loot we hear gun fire from the NE on the hill. My two squad mates begin to take cover as theyre being shot at and leave it to me to dispatch him. I zero my scope in at around 300m and take a shot. 1st shot is a direct hit. The player goes unconscious and begins to bleed. I follow up with 2 more shots however I miss :( . He then immediately disconnects from the game and a kill is not registered on my debug. My squad makes start to make their move towards his location to begin a search for his truck when all of the sudden they receive fire from the south. At this point my rifle shots have attracted about 5 zeds and I begin to also take fire from the south. I take a hit and begin to bleed while I pull my pistol out to dispatch the zeds. I make my way downstairs to bandage and heal. My blood had dropped from 12k to 6.5k. At this point we have no idea how many friends he brought with him and where they are exactly, plus we are still caught up in the moment. So since they were playing the disconnect game we decided to as well. After all, my other squad mate had just died and didn't want to risk another death and there were to many unknowns. Which brings me to my next question. Is the guy who disconnected going to die? I assume he took a lot of damage since he fell unconscious and started to bleed after one shot. However he disconnected before he died and the kill did not register on the debug monitor. TLDR 1: Are all the vehicles already taken and pretty much impossible to find off the map? 2: Will disconnecting after getting hit by a sniper and going unconscious/bleeding save you from death?

You can't take our vehicles if you don't own a vehicle already.. believe me. :) Just to let you know: i'm not criticizing the vehicle spawning because it goes against me: i plan with a clan/gang. Like many other clans here, i may just be quiet and push this type of gameplay, after all it's a profit for us! ...i'm not an "angel", but it's getting bored here: playing with a clan in teamspeak and having ten persons riding the map is a way too easy, and i recognize that a single (or just a couple of persons), scouting the map on their own foots, have a very low chance of finding a vehicle (before we "secure" it elsewhere), and even more lower chances to repair it in time (because they cannot transport all the parts together): when a clan scouts for new vehicles, they are owning already the vehicles parts (stored into other vehicles), they don't need to search for em.. they just find the vehicle, repair it in 30 seconds, and take it away offmap.
-
main problem with not-finding vehicles is coz they are hoarded off map, and if you don't own a vehicle, you can't get there.
-
Adding more vehicles isn't the solution, they will lead to more trolling: ppl "racing" all over the map nosense. I would like to see the vehicles completely removed from the mod, actually they are collected mostly by clans with other vehicles: with a vehicle you can scout the map regularry and fast, and so find othr vehicles before anyone else, and find those crash sites before others, it's also easier to collect and transport the repairing parts for em.. so it's like giving vehiles to ppl that already own them, rather than the "normal" players. That's why you don't find a vehicle: because they are kept and repaired immediatly by the clans.
-
If the admins are pulling the server down because you steal their vehicles and equipment then yes this is an unacceptable abuse of admin powers. We (the admins for UK8) have lost pretty much everything to theives on our server (2 choppers and a whole fleet of vehicles), yeah it sucks but you have to take it on the chin. I'd report them.

I don't agree that there are always objectives. It doesn't take long to get everything you need to survive in the wilderness if you loot one of the main towns. And if you aren't interested in fixing vehicles there's nothing for you to do. I've been in the situation several times where I've finished collecting supplies and weapons and suddenly been at a loss for what to do. For people who don't have a problem being a bandit it's fine, they can just go into a town and ambush people and that gives endless entertainment. But I don't like attacking other players so I don't have anything to do in the game once I've collected all the survival loot.

Hello there. Today my friend and I lost cars with our stuff in... 2 minutes. xO Yesterday we found a nice server. (LU36, if it is important) We ran, ran, ran, and found a great Land Rover. \m/ We have worked hard to repair it. So, we started to looting. We looted, looted, looted, and decided to log off. We found a really nice place to hide our "Offroad Princess". We saved it and logged off. Next day we logged in LU36 server, and... Found out our car. Everything was allright. So here the story begins. My mate and I decided to get ATV, so my fellow took me to Prigorodky, and back to our "Camp of Justice". I found out 2 broken ATV's, started to repair it, and..! ^It this time my mate was already in the "camp", so he tried to place a stup*d tent, which is really hard to be placed. -_- Anyway car was saved (as he said). Back to me. I finished a work and SUDDENLY! Restart of the server. 2 minutes left we logged in this server and SUDDENLYx2! 2xATV's, our "Princess" and my mate GONE. GONE 4EVER. U askin' "Mate? What tha hell are u talking about?!" Yeh. He was gone. And spawned into a bird. BIRD. That was really funny, aswell. Anyway, back to vehicles. Where is our vehicles? Is it a bug, or som3body stole it in 2 minutes? Will they be returned in some time or my Princess gone? :< Uh, Princess..

Scott, usually when vehicles and tents disappear, it's a problem with the server pulling info from rockets main database. I've seen it in the logs before. After a server restart, it usually reconnects and the items re-appear where they were before. That may or may not be the case here. I'll look at the logs from today and see if it happened. Check your camp again now that I'm done screwing around with the servers.

Every time I find a vehicle, I get this..
bogroll (DayZ) replied to Kashus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just found two vehicles tonight. Each one better than the last. Went from the far west to Berenzino and back (for medical supplies) with a pit stop. Just keep looking - or more importantly 'don't keep looking' - then you'll stumble across one.
