Serveradmins started to stop/start their server in order to save their stuff like bicyles/cars from other players. They stop their server as soon as they leave the server. They started this 2 days ago. I wittnessed it in their TS3 server. Today i tried to move my stuff of the vehicles to another server but i just cant finish it. I even wittnessed kicking or even banning a player for using iname Voice Chat. First they just kicked/banned players using accidental double Tab. But they never stopped there. Im annoyed of the fact, that i didnt move earlier when they started that behaviour. Now i hope that the dayZ guys have a look into this. I really hope to tranfer my stuff from that Server.

Hello everyone. [soB] formed shortly after the release of the Day Z alpha. Been playing for just over a month now. We are a group of guys who all met up after playing the game. We currently have a 10 slot mumble server and about 8 active members. With that said, we are looking to add 1 or 2 more players. Here's a little info.. - We play anywhere from 8pm EST to 3am EST. Sometimes we start late, sometimes we start earlier, I'd say 10pm EST is our usual start time. - We shoot on sight, we don't normally "go looking" for people, but if someone crosses there path with us we shoot first and ask questions later. - There are times where we will take trips to Elektro and Cherno to hunt Bandits, but a good portion of our time playing is farming Stary Sober, the NW airfield and Berezino for supplies. - We currently own 3 vehicles on our server, and counting. We own a Hippie Van, UAZ and Bus. (we lost our ATV the other day) - We have a nice camp set up, with approx two full tents of guns + ammo, 2 tents dedicated to medical supplies, a tent with food supplies and a tent with car parts (yes we are horders, but we don't ever server hop) The server we play on is interesting as it has a lot of clans, makes for some great competition and blood shed for vehicles. We stole another clan's bus yesterday as both our teams had the idea of raiding Stary for it's supplies. Was fun!. If your interested, message me on Steam under the name "SixxAssassin". *sights* its late so i will assume my previous post was unclear so i will attempt to repeat my intentions without confusion. #1 anyone is welcome. every server has down time. im not controlling who does and dosnt play im merely stating that will instate down time once we have negotiated a agreement with dayz staff. the fine points of that agreement will be discussed later on and i will see how that goes. #2 we dont care who has and dosnt have vehicles. i reread my earlier post and nowere does it say were controlling vehicle population. reference #1 for the rest. #3 a guy on page 1 said the same thing and i corrected him so heres my 2nd shot. we arent interested in loot. were graphics designers for god sakes. ive already had all the items you can have and all the vehicles. the buzz to obtain a item is gone. im left with the creative aspect of dayz. again #1 will dictate this. staff may have some boundries for us to follow to which we will do to a T #4 again #1. i will post the results of my inquiry when i receive the email. <3 I have a feeling that if we are to do what we intend i have no doubt that staff may propose a cordoned off locked media only server that cannot be opened by the public or something of the sort. or we can just go ahead an do our shoots with random people in the server with hopes they dont interfere. i in no way intend to violate rockets rules and earlier a fine fellow brought it to my attention that locking the server for a hour every 4-5 days for a quick little secure shoot is probally against the rules. therfore i will make sure that my ideas are ran by the staff and that all rules are obeyed. im not a hackfag or script kiddie and i have no intention of becoming one. Now for the sake of the rules already pre-established this is a bandit forum and i dont think that a discussion regarding server control by admin is the best way to add to this fine subsection. :) for any reposters or anythine that wants to get mad at me please feel free to flame my skype :tachyonXL otherwise i have realized thanks to @liquidje that my plans may not be acceptable. i am currently talking with staff about this and it will be resolved. ~vielodesign

You are not impressing me with your intelligence OP. You have just stated that you are buying your own server so that you and your clan; 1. Can have control over who plays on it. 2. Can control who has the vehicles and who doesn't. 3. Can lock the server when ever you feel like it to fix up vehicles, loot farm and do all other kinds of dick head things. 4. Lock the server any time you want to make movies. Yeah... good luck getting that server white listed. Even doing this "quickly at night" will cause an all mighty shit storm in the Cheat Reporting forum. Go, check out the amount of Admin Abuse threads being started for just this sort of shit.

Have vehicles become super rare since the up-tick in players?

I watched a hackers live stream of DayZ, was in a post here that got removed. He was able to enable/disable at will all world spawns with color coding, players, vehicles, zeds, loot, animals - you name it, its location was shown in game. He was able to hop from vehicle to vehicle. With hacks out like that, Im sure others use it & locate & hoard. There's just no where to hide a vehicle from a hack like I watched. -
This sounds really interesting...Pretty much exactly what I wanted to start up when my little group got some vehicles and tents. I'd like to at least help out in some capacity, but I do have a group I still play with on the side. How are things going? Are you guys set up? Are you getting any traders? Make it so zombies spawn near user placed buildings (though a few meters outside so they don't spawn inside fences/walls etc., then walk toward it) after a certain amount of time. The more buildings in an area, the closer to existing towns/settlements, and the longer its been there then the more zombies spawn. Would mean bases would only be able to get so big before they would become troublesome to manage, or people would have to pack up bases periodically and move around (which requires a fair bit of resources, vehicles etc.). You could have some placeables as non recoverable, so that moving has a cost to.

amen.! good code. i usually am very paranoid so if i see a survivor and he hasn't seen me ( im sneaky in the extreme so they usually don't) illl usually survey them in a period of 2 seconds. if their headed away ill leave them be. maby a few potshots to keep them on their toes. but if their headed towards me in any way. their done. my basic motto is leave no loose ends. if they see me they may find a gun in the next building and hunt me. therfore armed or unarmed their ass is grass. if they have a gun i wait till their standing still. every target will hold still. even if for only 3-4 seconds. i leap at that moment and plant the headshot. its ruthless and i usually walk away feeling extremely bad but i can steel myself for the moment whenever its needed. if i run across the new players i walk with them and talk for a while. teach them most of what i know. i always end with "also if you ever see a survivor with a gun... dont trust them." i pop one into their head ( dont kill them) i use my sidearm. just knocks then unconscious. i transfuse them and bandage them and walk away. their in full health and simetimes if im feeling nice i plant a gun in their pack and walk away. i generally dont care about killing players and guns etc arnt my goal. vehicle parts are my goal. i repair and stash vehicles and tip off players as to where they are. :) i enjoy making others happe. if im not doing that im riding the hookerbus. i travel up and down the coast picking up new guys and taking them where they want ^_^

When a new server comes up are all the vehicles spawned instantly or do they spawn in over time? Is there a mximum of each type of vehicle that can spawn? Cheers guys

Crafting already is part of the mod. Crafting is already in the mod. Fixing vehicles, creating fireplaces, cooking, changing ammo for different guns. As long as crafting stays on a very basic level that most people could achieve I'm all for it. Survivors fixing up a bike, car, maybe even basic gun repairs yes. Survivors being able to fix up a chopper or airplane is already out of the scope. Fixing boats is where the border between "doable" and "impossible" is for me.

[PLEASE LOCK] Are car spawns bugged?

My group and I opened our own server up three days ago. We've onlyy found one bus and one ATV, nothing else. We've searched through basically the entire western region (Zeleno, smaller towns, etc.) and all of the known vehicle spawns, yet we've found nothing. This and some server hopping to attempt to find cars has led me to believe that cars are simply not spawning.. I doubt that all vehicles could have been taken off of the map in the three days that the server's been up, and I'm asking you, the community; do you believe that vehicle spawns could be bugged? We plan on searching the eastern region now, hopefully we're able to find something! -

What's up, all! I only just started playing Day Z two days ago, and personally feel that, certain bugs and needed tweaks aside, it's #$*!ing fantastic! So, firstly, I'd like to say I like and respect what I've seen of the community around here for the most part, and have great respect for the mod and the man behind it... hope he continues to make it all it can be! I'm/we're looking for other trustworthy, mature (but rowdy is fine) people to group-up with, or to join my own little "clan" I have for other games, and I've one other person with me, though her schedule is a little different. Yes, "her", so be $#&!ing respectful, hear me!? ;) Seriously... if you're a punk or don't know how to have tact (no racism, sexism etc) even if being rowdy (we don't care about foul language), then you're not who we're looking for. If there are other females in the community, you're free to join us. I'm 37, life-long gamer, (she is 33, experienced in FPS), I'm very experienced in tactical FPS (though I game for fun; no more competition) based in Arizona, US (-7), actually have my own Vent server if we want to use it. We stand by "our own" and are about teamwork and enjoying ourselves, working together to make it more enjoyable. Anyone who's new and/or looking for other mature but fun people to play with regularly, drop me a line! I'll give you my name, we'll set something up, and hopefully get something going. We'd like to try to get far enough to build-up our own little "keep" somewhere, vehicles, defend it, but rebuild if we have to at any point. We play on Normal servers, nothing "hardcore"... mod is already hardcore enough. ;) We've been playing on TX servers thus far; great servers, but will switch to what ever works, or vice-versa. Absolutely the exact type of game I've been waiting for that's done right, being truly survival horror, excellent atmosphere, love the mechanics and has run perfectly thus far. The only problems I've had thus far are things that have already been mentioned elsewhere... backpacks disappearing if you swim, night is extremely dark (though I like playing at night as well), occasionally the detection radius of zombies seems a little large, though it's not always a problem if you're careful... but it's still been a $@*!ing blast to play! I/we absolutely LOVE this style of game (i.e. survival horror) which this Alpha already does better than most other games in the style of supposed "survival horror", IMO. Just wish you could actually barricade doors etc. Who knows, maybe that will be added some time down the line... some welding, or boarding up doors etc. That would flesh it out and make it virtually perfect. Haven't run into any player bandits yet, and still learning a few things I've not yet had the chance to do (vehicles, barricades), but I've got it down for the most part already. Keep up the excellent work! I see myself spending a lot of time in Day Z, as long as things continue to run smooth and the community continues to grow and get even better. -

Seattle 67: Vehicles, Tents and Bikes unspawned

The seattle 67 admins can not reset the central DayZ-server, but their own server only. Their server does not save your tents or vehicles. Your stuff might come back after a restart of seattle 67, if not with a ~90% all your stuff is gone. It might also pop up again after another restart. Anyways: Alpha, central server too full, hackers ... yadda yadda -
still mostly intact, have atleast x4 times the vehicles across servers, by the way hows your css friends holding up after that failed raid, i hope you dont conduct yourselves like that on the casual circuit! :)

Really? even counting the bicycle Ive been playing for months now and the only vehicle i ever encountered was the bus at the mosque in Elektra but that was the very first time i played Just checked the DayZ wiki http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles its not listed so id call a "hack" ... maybe or maybe you just encountered a super ultra rare spawn -
I fixed up a car and enjoyed riding it... But what happens when I log off? If I click "save car" will it disappear when im off and go back on when I return? Or do I have to hide it from other players? If I have to hide it, where do u guys usually hide ur vehicles?

It's not the fault of sever rollback (those cannot happen because location, inventory and such are stored on the HIVE). The problem is with how HIVE handles vehicle location. There are 2 instances when vehicle locations are saved: when you get on/off vehicles and when you Save the vehicle in the mouse scroll menu. This makes driving both frustrating and dangerous, especially on servers that crash a lot and if you plan on exiting your vehicle often on the way.

Play with survivors. If you get a steam group and saturate a few servers with survivors, you'll get exactly the kind of play you're looking for. MANY players enjoy the territorial aspects of DayZ; stalking prey, raiding player camps, stealing vehicles, fighting other clans. Put in an iota of effort before you screw over all these styles of play. Help these guys make their city. Just stop crying without doing anything. You're not a child, stop acting like one.

Sometimes when a server restarts the tents and vehicles all disappear and it needs to be restarted again. How do you tell everyone on the server you are resetting it to fix this if you are not the global admin, just a normal admin?

Dunno, but I think the reason vehicles are so easy to find there is because it's being constantly restarted. I think it's only up when the admin wants to play, but I don't know that for certain. It's pretty annoying, I set up a tent there and loaded it with stuff, then it's been a pain because of my schedule to get back on the server and take it down. It's going to drop soon.

So after getting sorted our after the 1.7 Wilderness mess, the game is finally working 'correctly'. Except that most buildings, all zombies and foilage is invisible. I have the latest Day Z files and Arma2 Beta patch installed. I am not stuck in the wilderness. I can see other players and they can definitely see me(been killed). The debug zombie count is zero, even though I can occasionally hear them drag across something or rustle a fence but we seem invisible to each other. I can see all loot and vehicles fine but if the building is invisible, I cannot get to anything not on the ground level. I can see everything else floating in the air. Some walls and buildings do appear, but very few. Any ideas?

Yeah this is lame. I was afk watching a movie on netflix movie while online. So about 4 hours. My friend informed me his tent was looted and his vehicle was stolen. I laughed. Kept watching my movie. 5 minutes later a guy loads in right ontop of my tent. In looting mode. I alt tab back in (windowed mode) and pull out pistol to shoot him. Next thing you know I am teleported into the middle of Berezino. Nothing I can do. I am an admin, not the actual owner of server, but admin nonetheless. I could have reset the server, but would have done no good. So I waited for the rest of the guys to get online and the actual guy who rents the server. 100% of the tents were looted. 2 vehicles we did own gone. By now most of the stuff is probably spread out among several different servers. Just kind of sucks when someone does it blatantly infront of you and nothing you can do is reset, which ruins the fun of the other players on your server. -

I know that US90 just got plagued by a group of hackers who somehow knew where all the vehicles were, and took them all and put 'em off the map. I think the same thing may have happened on US91 as well. This could be a new hack.
