    ATLANTA 33 Lost Everything

It's not just him, we lost everything too. Multiple vehicles, all tents etc. There is something very shady about that server.

    De-Evolution of the Human Race

I'm not sure it does. At least, not in the way you imply. If I break down what I spend my time doing in DayZ, the main activities look like this: traveling to meet up with friends, gathering vehicle parts to repair vehicles, setting up camps to store excess equipment, gathering basic survival supplies, checking vehicle spawn locations, and searching for crashed helicopters for high-value military loot. None of these activities on their own or in combination are particularly thrilling. With a partner or two (I never play alone) zombies can be easily dealt with and now that I know the map just getting around successfully is no longer a great challenge. So why do I continue to play DayZ hours a day, every day, over 500+ hours in game already? Well, because each and every one of those activities is made incredibly intense, stressful and emotionally charged because I know at any moment my "plan" could be interrupted by an enemy player who has other things in mind for my evening. So why would I be angry with these people? Why should I hold ill-will towards them when they are the very people who make the things I do in the game interesting and fun? The reason I need powerful weapons, trusted friends, intimate knowledge of the map terrain and a keen understanding of the effective ranges and behaviors of various weapons is because these people exist and I have to deal with them occasionally. They are why the game is fun. They make DayZ what it is. You should be thanking them, not decrying their existence and calling into question their humanity and "treatment of other people." If dying "ruins your fun" or spoils the game for you, then I submit that you're just not quite thinking of DayZ in the right light. Dying is part of the fun, and the threat of death is the soul of DayZ's intensity and challenge. How you deal with it depends on what your goals are. I suggest finding at least one trusted friend to play with. Preferably 2-3. If you don't have any friends in real life who are playing the game, try to find a clan recruiting here on the forums, or look for servers with active Teamspeak channels and join those. Playing in a small, tactical team and cooperating is the single best thing you can do to increase your chances of survival. If you just want to survive as long as possible, then I reccommend a strategy of tactical avoidance. Scout ahead, remain aware, and if you spot players simply stay put and quiet and let them pass and go on their way. 90% of PvP situations can be avoided entirely just by staying where you are and not exposing your position to players. Read my treatise on the groundhog here for more information on the value of awareness and avoidance-style game play. But, that's not the only way. You can take a much more direct approach and try to eliminate your competition. Take the war to their soil. Find their camps and raid them. Steal their stuff. And if you see them, put holes in them. It's a more dangerous style, but it works too. To each their own in Chernarus. Best of luck out there, mate.

UK34, EXCESSIVE Admin Abuse [With Proof]

Locked. Thread will be reported to Developers, which I don't think will do much. Besides... where is this going? Please consider the following: Admin states that they have no control over the server other then kicking/banning. Due to a server restart tents may of bugged and all loot inside tents/vehicles may not show up until next restart. (This is a common bug, you just didn't know about it.) In the image you state it is locked (Where is the locked icon?) and that an admin (No proof of showing an admin in, only a anonymous player.) is in there alone. There is no proof of an admin being in a locked server.

    Hacked Vehicles in Atlanta 22

I can confirm this, I just came off Atlanta 22 about 15 minutes ago and the vehicles are still there. Proof: http://i.imgur.com/RYqyU.png
  5. so seattle 13 was hacked yesterday. The hacker teleported all players on the server to the NW airfield and spawned planes for everyone near the firehouse. I DCed immediately to avoid losing all my gear to a hack. I went back to camp, dropped all my gear, and headed to the airfield to see if anyone/any vehicles were left. This is what happened: Also, this is what i get for going straight to DayZ rather than playing Arma first!

Vehicles not spawning - Server Support

Have you spoken to Lee on the Vilayer Ts3 channel? He (and the other Vilayer guys) have been extremely helpful to me and many other server admins. What is your server name? When you restart, do you stop and star,t or just click the restart button, I always stop it, leave it 60 seconds then start it again, this has led to vehicles and tents being fine (players need to remember to save the tents (and vehicles when you get them Yes Vilayer restricts access to certain things, but these are things that you should not be messing with unless you want a quick visit to the DayZ blacklist I'm sure one of the guys form vilayer will see this and contact you, but just in case here's the TS3 info ts3.vilayer.com
  7. In b4 "omg u just jelly because you have no good gear and suck"... well yeah, tell this to my m24 and m4 sd. My point is this: At the current state only a small percentage of the community really contributes to the testing we're ment to do. A lot of the groups that are active players just concentrate on hoarding high-value items in case one of them dies. After respawn the player then just grabs a new gear out of the tent and just plays on as if nothing happened. Permadeath, lolwat. Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy that I found myself a group wich would try everything to secure whatever gear possible from my corpse, but this massive storing of gear completely negates the effect of possible loss in this mod. If you don't have to care for your gear, you are more willing to risk it, ie go for the pvp in heavy populated zones (in order to piss people off, because your gear is high end already) Second thing: Vehicles Again, in b4 "omg u just jelly because you never found a car, moron". Well, I did and more than once. No, I won't deny anyone the right to hide his ride once he found and repaired it. But those massive off-map parkinglots you come across sometimes are just ridiculous. I won't complain on how it's "unfair" that one group manages to obtain "all" the vehicles on a server because they "hack" and are "friends with the admins/the admins" because: -It is totally fair. -5-10 is not "all" -I ran across some too -I don't know a single admin Both things are heaviely frowned upon by some parts of the community. But, both things are completely legit. There are several valid points to both behaviours and it's rather foolish to argument against it. Except: This is an Alpha Version. As we all agree on that (well, I don't include people to my statement who think they know better than rocket about how much this mod proceeds) we are not players, but testers. Why does this in any way support the question in the topic? Well, for once, those groups with large storages are surely amongst the most active players in DayZ, ie they have good chances to come along some bug and report them. But, when excluded from many parts of the game because they simply have no need to "waste their time" searching for first basic loot, crawl through zombie-filled villages, this possible advantage (in terms of testing) is wildly negated to the state of "hit detection is laggy" and "barracks just spawn bullshit" Same thing for vehicles. If they are all just stashed away behind some trees and mainly used as storages for guns and supply, it simply doensn't contribute to testing. How to know if vehiclespawns work correctly for example? Also, the more players come to drive them, the more likely a bug might be discovered and reported. So, is it legit to store masses of gear to avoid starting all over again after death? Yes, definitely. Is it legit to store away vehicles for your group/to deprive other groups of them. Yes, it is. But do these actions contribute to the testing of the game? No, I don't think they do. I know, a lot of people cling to their gear or zombiekill-counts and will just hate to lose them. I don't. This is Alpha, our stats will get wiped one way or another, our gear will vanish, all our progress ingame will be lost. So, why not make everyone start over again when a new version comes out? Make everyone experience possible flaws, pros and newbs alike, on the same stage. Gearing up again, sneaking around zeds, all these things which could need tweaking... I, for one, think it could do something to result in a better game on the long term, instead of playing as if it was already retail... Any thoughts on this idea (if possible, none of those I "in b4"ed already)?

    How do I get helicopters?

Helicopter vehicles are disabled currently. Apparently they caused too much stress for the servers. Alpha and all that. They'll be back.
  10. I am currently renting a server which is based in america, and I am become seriously frustrated with an issue which may cause me to cancel my payments to the provider and give up trying with this game. This is not another ranting post, I am just looking for opinions here. My team and I are playing quite a lot at the moment and we recover vehicles regularly. For the first 3 weeks of having our server we were able to go about our business...killing...looting and having fun. Eventually we had enough equipment to justify having our own camp...so we built one. It turned into a tent city and finally someone found it! We had a massive fight for it which lasted hours and we a lot of fun ! Eventually there was a low point in the fighting and we decided to evacuate our remaining vehicles. A group of Russians appeared on the server while our massive fight was going on but they were not involved in the hostilities. We moved our vehicles when the server was quiet and set up shop in a good spot about 13km from the old camp. We logged out for the night. One of our members logged on early the next morning (less than 6 hours later) and discovered that all of our vehicles were missing again and our few tents had been looted. Acceptable. It happens :) So we went looking in the hills and recovered 3 of our lost vehicles that looked as if they had been abandoned, and one at a big camp. We moved our vehicles and made another camp, again, well hidden miles from the old one. We logged out for the night. I personally checked in the morning (about 7 hours later) and all of our vehicles were gone again. So, we went up into the hills again and found the URAL. We moved it into a group of trees while we were the only ones on the server, very late at night. I logged in the next morning (less than 4 hours later) to find that only this Russian clan were on the server and once again, the vehicle was missing. I am getting sick of this, I know there is something fishy going on, but I cant do anything about it. We are also finding a lot of people with hacked weapons, such as PDW SD's (screenshots available with names if necessary). Perhaps the only way to stop this from happening is to shut down our server for good?
  11. @Trowa, due the fact i can't really control where and how the vehicles are saved / spawned it doesnt matter when the server restart and how often. I can only run the server 24 hours before i have to restart. :S

    ATLANTA 33 Lost Everything

If you remembered to save the tents and vehicles then it's possible your items will be back the next time the server resets. I've had tents completely disappear only to be brought back with all my gear after the server did another restart.

To the Admin of Atlanta 33

DrHellNo, Sorry about the lack of notice before restarts, i've been slaving over the BI wiki trying to find decent enough info on getting an rcon tool enabled and only last night i managed to get it working.. As Greg said, from now on we will be issuing a 2 minute warning before restarting. The only exception to this is when we clearly notice that the server hasn't restarted properly (vehicles and tents haven't spawned etc). In this situation the warning will be much shorter (more like 30 seconds) before restarting, this is just so we can get the game back on track as quickly as possible. cheers, Oli
  14. A bunch of buddies and I (4 total, including me) were in cherno yesterday evening just hanging around trying to kill some scrubs in the town when all of a sudden a bus with 8 people roles in, beeping the horn with no care in the world. As soon as we saw this we were so excited. We've been looking for vehicles for 3 days now of non stop playing other than to sleep. Finally it landed right in our lap. As it rolled in close to us we unloaded on it and destroyed a tire, screwed up the engine, etc. Killed the driver and another player in the process and the other 6 players got out of the bus and booked it. We picked off a couple more as they tried to get positions to outflank us. One ended up getting into a building across from and took out 2 of my friends and knocked down the third. I ended up bandaging up my knocked down friend, giving him an epi pen and a blood transfusion, then i shot the guy across from me because he missed his shot (big mistake). The other players we killed got a spawn near cherno and we killed a couple of them running for the bus again, but then my friend DCed due to internet issues. Horrible timing as 2 other players climb up the ladder to the roof i was on and killed me, but i ended up killing them both at the same time i died. My friend logged in shortly afterward (after fixing his internet) and ran to the bus, repaired it with a wheel and drove off into the sunset. Anyway, I want to thank those who we fought against. It was some of the most fun we've had in Day Z and thank you for the bus as well. It is now hidden and we love taking it for joy rides around Chenarus :)
  15. Another server reset and another 2 missing vehicles, would reseting the server more regularly help prevent this?
  16. Patient Zero

Where do people make there camp?

Well vehicles can still be kept of map but they have to be used / saved every 24 hours or they get respawned back on the main map. Tents / camps though are wiped without notice now if it's of the map. So some vehicles will still be of map but it's a huge step to fixing the exploit. I don't think the massive of map parking lots will be a feature any more, and you and your mate should have more luck now finding vehicles. Edit: link as requested. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=29123
  17. Where do the groups of people make there camps with cars vehicles tents and so on? I'm kind of bored with finding the loot and killing players. And i think i found my calling in this game. I must find people's camps and just destroy all the vehicles and throw away all there loot there etc. So i ask u - where are the most popular places for people's camps? Thx.
  18. Glorious! Thanks for letting me know. Gonna have to search for vehicles with my mate now :D

    Scripters US23

It was fun killing you guys and getting our vehicles back. Have fun searching again. -Chronic- I'm on day 22 and over 100 hours on this character. I LOVE THIS GAME! Oh and someone is definitely hacking on us23 to find vehicles. It may not be you HSZ guys. We have no idea who it is but we will find out sooner or later. Tomorrow we're going on a hunt! US23 players beware! Chronic and his crew are rolling through!

    Scripters US23

We are a group of about 10-12 people that play together. We managed to locate several vehicles, this concludes a ural, vs9, offroad and uaz. Apparently we have been going back and forth with some people here with them stealing our vehicles and us finding them and taking them back. Which im not complaining about its part of the game and gives us an objective. However the problem is quickly after the first time around it was obvious they were running scripts to locate all the vehicles. The first time it we found the vehicles the 2nd or 3rd day after they were stolen and it was by pure coincidence. The next day the vehicles were stolen again. First thing that crossed our mind "wow someone else found our vehicles", a week later we ended up finding our ural again along with our uaz and some atv's but we could only take the ural and uaz back. This was 4 days ago, we scoured the whole map to find these vehicles and finally managed to find them off the map in the debug forest west of kamenka, we were psyched and we knew at this point that they are scripters since they could easily locate our vehicles. This is where the interesting part comes in, the reason we found the vehicles is because we seen our offroad roaming around balota we chased them once with the slug bus and they got away due to speed. Our buddy that we were going to pick up by balota ended up having to wait for us since we needed gas and regroup at our base camp. He ended spotting the offroad by balota again, and they were heading west which is why we went west of kamenka to look for our vehicles and boom we found them. This was awesome, however after spending 1 and a half hours regrouping and relocating, they end up finding our new camp site while we were there. We went north east, all the way by the ocean and far up north that it was about 500m past the map where the textures end. When we start heading up the hill they roll up with the bus we left behind, which didnt have any tires on it when we left their camp since we blew them off and that means all of them, we also checked the gear in the bus and they did not have wheels in the bus. Based on how far the distance was between their camp and our camp (complete opposite side of the map west -> east and south -> north) there is no way they could have made it there. Unless they got into their bus and headed straight for our location, so even in the best case scenario where they did not teleport their bus with all their players by us (and there were 5 of them attacking us) They would have to jump into their bus immediately after we left their camp and head straight for us, they did not even bother looking around they simply knew where we were and when we became stationary it gave them the time to roll up on us and wipe us out. Also i dont know if this gun is legitimately in the game but there was a svd camo inside the offroad, personally i never picked up one of these guns in dayz so it could have been spawned in by them. My deductions go as far as this if you guys can look into the logs more to find out what happened that would be great, i got killed in this process and im pretty ticked off because i had some really nice gear and its gear i earned. I had a dmr, silenced m9, nvg's, range finder, gps, and thats the main rare stuff, lots of other stuff on the side i had a mountain dew bottle and other stuff that you can find easily. PS: the distance between their camp and us if u draw a straight line is 21.6 KM. Im gonna provide a screen shot with the people in the server, taking into consideration that there were 5 of them who attacked us and the players listed below who were in our group, at the time we were playing at best 1 or 2 of them were not part of this scripter group. our players: Azur lilchronic JeT VALs BEAST Syaticus Chronic Nazsgul Washington I dont believe FillaRealla was part of the group but i believe fermi is a definite based on seeing him in the server when our vehicles would dissapear. Server we played on: US23 time: 10 - 20 minutes before this post

Me, My bike and the tents you own.

wufnu, did you have a point in there somewhere? Of course he is a lone wolf, but most lone wolves would not tear apart the entire camp just for the giggles, they'd take what they could and keep the rest for a later raid. Having your camp raided is entirely reasonable, I never said anything else. But he needs to be honest with why he does it instead of making up reasons. The OP assumes that he is taking away power from item-hoarders and large groups, but he cannot in any way confirm that. It could just as easily be a small family that players together and needs multiple vehicles to transports everyone when they go out for food (yes, this is a fairly silly example, but my point stands). Getting sniped or otherwise killed by random bandits is part of the game, destroying camps likewise. But coming up with some vague justification based entirely on preconceptions for it, rather than just admitting he's a douchbag is just pathetic to me.
  23. So I was running along the map not too long after I spawned in when I noticed a heli out of the corner of my eye SW of Stary. I thought it was crashed at first, but when I found a clear view to my amazement it was a working Huey. It only needed engine parts to use, which my group had. We put the parts in and started flying around. Within a couple minutes we heard another Huey. After a pretty short air battle, we destroyed it. Right near where the destroyed helicopter fell was another Huey that was blown up. Flying around in the helicopter we came upon another group of two helicopters in the woods, beat up. Strangely, next to these helicopters and scattered around the open field near the woods were a bunch of ammo boxes (medium), all empty. We flew around the helicopter some more, came upon at least two more Huey's. We decided we were done with the helicopter and we were going to park it near our camp and destroy it. That's when we heard another chopper. After a lengthy air battle, we ran out of bullets, which ultimately led to our demise. The server admin came on chat and said the server would be restarted right after this happened. We logged back in and a vehicle from our camp disappeared. Not only that, one of our group members heard the helicopter again in Gorka. Now, I can't confirm this 100%, but I believe the people responsible are in the clan [brothers]. The first chopper we shot out of the sky was being flown by them, and the chopper that shot us down later was being flown by them as well, not to mention they had ghillie suits and nice gear. We also had a firefight with one of them as we were driving in one of our vehicles and he had a ghillie. He killed one of our guys and we killed him but he alt F4ed out so we couldn't see his loot. Their names are Bes, Viper and GGGamerProRus. I believe there are others but they aren't in-game right now. They are still prowling around in a Huey as I'm typing this. Message to anyone who has a camp on US 46; Get to it ASAP and move your shit. EDIT - Almost forgot, each of the helicopters we inspected (4 of the 7 I believe) had 15 AKM mags and 5 normal AK mags inside of them, which clearly indicated some form of hacking if the number of choppers and ammo boxes weren't enough. Also, as a final thought, we've been playing on this server the last 5 or so nights. This was the first time we save this [brothers] group, and then crazy shit goes down. Might just be a coincidence, might be something more. Don't know. I just hope I log back in later with an intact camp, but something tells me it'll be gone.
  24. My group has about 5 or so vehicles but we actually use them all depending on how many seats + storage we need. I decided to remove my picture since I didn't want to give any clues away about where we have established our camp. :) -Sturmen
