vehicles not spawning anymore?

Vehicles are now spawning on our server too. -

Sounds like you're having fun, bami. More power to you I guess. But, you're not playing DayZ anymore. You're just playing a different game that steals assets and script from DayZ. You say there's still an element of the unknown, but I hardly think you're really living in fear of your coworkers betraying and murdering you, or stealing your vehicles, or emptying your base, or getting the drop on you while you're distracted fighting zombies, or any of the other myriad of ways in which unknown players can affect your game play. You can't strip away all the most challenging elements of the game and create an environment of complete safety and security that you have total control over and then call it "serious." The serious action takes place on legitimate servers. You're playing in the kiddie pool. Which is fine, have fun splashing around and stuff, but serious? No. -

Yeah GMT+1' date=' I was confused because here in Italy we have some strange daylight time change every few months. I'm not blaming you of course but I know there are individuals storing all sort of vehicles (nearly all of them). In fact today, out of pure luck, we found a tractor filled with everything inside (even a Mountain Dew), at his place we planted a tent with the mountain dew, some painkillers (for the obvious pain that this theft will cause) and planted two tank trap near the tent and finally moved the tractor away. That's maybe the first time that we (me and roberto podeira) found a vehicle (except for an old bike and a stuck tractor we were forced to leave behind). But, I know, such is life of a small team (2 players). I know me and a group of friends have 4 or 5 stashed (all on map), can't say we've ever had an issue finding a vehicle when we've needed one. Just a few days ago we decided to do a hospital run, it took us 3 attempts because every time we set off, we'd get part way there and find another vehicle and then go hide it! In total we must have found 17-20 in the last 2 weeks, probably more, there's been a lot though that we've had that just disappeared suspiciously. -

Fixed and drove some vehicles today. Was glorious, haven't been able to do it for ages. -
I realise that it is within their power to kick people, but repeatedly kicking anyone who is not one of their friends seems like cheating to me since they have the whole server to themselves. From what I've seen it's the clans [bF2], [PRIDE] and [PRO] doing this. This kind of behavior really sucks, me and my friends spent at good 12+ hours on that server yesterday setting up a camp and repairing vehicles. The server name is also very misleading, saying it's 1.7.1.1 when it's really 1.7.1.5. I don't know if that's a mistake or if the admins have changed the name to keep people out. I also found this thread about the same issue: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?mode=linear&tid=26214&pid=231480 For some reason adding attachements isn't working for me. You'll find the proof in the following links http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/4504/2012070600003.jpg http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/3686/2012070600004.jpg http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/554/2012070600005.jpg Edit: This started happening around 08:00 gmt+1, and is still happening now, 19:00 gmt+1.

Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]
WalkerDown (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
This isn't be clear yet.. i guess the he meant: you have 24 hours *now* to move your vehicles, then they will be deleted. But after this they will be cleared cyclic at random "time".. so basically you may be able to place a vehicle off-map, but you can find it disappearing, even if pop into it every 24 hours. I hope that's the explanation or it wouldn't make sense.. as said: i can just leave my alt at the camp, and use it 1 menute per day, just to enter into any of those "parked" vehicles. -
I have a new server from HFB and we have vehicles.

It'll be interesting to see whether the 24hour time limit on usage will be enough to start getting some of the vehicle stashes back in the boundaries. Having somebody hop in a vehicle once a day isn't much of an issue. But its a good start. Chernarus is feeling a bit small these days, but with a working spawning system for vehicles, their loss will just be like other gear, not an issue. Go out and find a new one. As long as you know there's actual vehicles somewhere in the bounds. -
Hello there, I'm sure for lot of you, chernarus became quite a peaceful and quiet region with tons and tons of stuff to do, looting of course but it is also a pleasure to wander around, in a car, enjoying the joy of the eastern europe countryside's landscape. However, I wanted to go for some pleasure boating/sailing though it's impossible to save or park our beatiful sea craft in a fancy marina. Therefore, I would suggest to bring some boat towing in the game to be able to fully enjoy our fishing and tanning sessions off-shore in the day, and be back with the boat and the car at the camp: http://images.thecarconnection.com/lrg/nissan_crew_cab_towing_boat_100006914_l.jpg Pulling vehicles is already a present mechanics in Arma II, it might be easy to develop and in my opinion, very useful, getting over infected by sailing a bit is so effective. What do you guys think ?

After clocking my 107th hour into DayZ today, I feel like I’ve gained a fairly good grasp of the game, and I have experienced the intense high and bitter bitter, bitter low moments of the game (still haven’t found a helicopter though). I will split this into 3 sections regarding gameplay aspects that I feel are missing from DayZ; aspects that could greatly enhance a players experience in DayZ. If I was a dev, this is where I’d be heading with the game. COOPERATIVE GAMEPLAY & BASEBUILDING Cooperative gameplay, I feel, enhances DayZ massively. While the sense of abandonment running across a dead, still, open field is an awesome and previously before unfelt emotion in gaming, DayZ simply is more fun when you’re playing with people. Try it if you don’t believe me. Basebuilding is already being attempted in the game, as groups of players seal off buildings in towns/ airfield with barbed wires, place tents in military bases, etc. Basebuilding is an essential component of cooperative gameplay as it provides a common objective, provides a physical location that is “home” in the DayZ wilderness and is a way of boasting a player group’s success at the game. 1. Respawning at tents. No, I don’t think this is overpowered at all, given the rarity of tents as loot anyway. The function of this would merely remove the tedious run from the coast after dying to retrieve equipment. A way to stop this becoming overpowered would be making tents have two modes – storage or spawning. -Storage, keeping the tent functioning as it does now (1.7.1.5). -Spawning, in which the tent cannot be moved after being placed once, and cannot be used for storage. Also, the spawn point is across servers. 2. Base building through fortifications such as sandbags, barrels and tents. Currently the only use of existing fortifications is to fill buildings doors to stop players entering the damn building to get the morphine that they need for their shattered legs (yes, this happened to me). It’s douchery at its finest, and by introducing a purpose for these fortifications in base building, perhaps I’ll finally be able to enter the tower at NW airfield. This will also develop upon the clan multiplayer gameplay that makes DayZ so thrilling through building a home base. This coupled with tents as respawn locations could make for great dynamic, player generated sources of loot, and zones of extreme danger. 3. Introduce shovels which can be used to build dirt mounds / create trenches. This will also be useful for the base building mentioned before. 4. More cross compatibility for weapon amunitions, such as all 9mm pistols (silenced or not) accepting a single lootable 9mm magazine, rather than separate magazines for pistols. I do not consider finding ammunition a challenge of the game, as there is always plenty for common weapons, and pooling loot will enhance cooperative gameplay. Mass stores of ammunition in above discussed player encampments will lead to enhanced scavenger gameplay. Obviously keep specialised ammunition for specialised weapons, such as the Bizon SD. GENERAL USER EXPERIENCE 1. Servers that are configured at timezones must be labelled in their name, and be able to be filtered by this timezone. For example, there are about 30 Atlanta servers online at the moment – does this number of servers need to be available at Atlanta timezones? Spread the servers across timezones equally, so there are always enough servers to support the large numbers of players. 2. Attachments for weapons as lootable items, such as silences, scopes and sights, barrel modifications such as flash or noise suppressors and silencers. 3. Zombies or infected in the game I feel should be dumb, lumbering hunks of meat until they become ravaged. I like the aggressive nature of the zombies when alerted, they are dynamic, voliatile and most importantly, deadly. Make zombies take 2 or 3 more bullets to kill from weapons (hence enhancing the threat they can provide), though dumb them to the sound of bullets. At the moment a gun in a town is almost always a death sentence, rather than an object of defence as I feel it should be. 4. Lootable wire cutters to destroy barbed wire fortifications set up by douchebag players to block of building entrances and/or to break through chicken wire fences in the game. 5. Craftable splint for broken bones, such as two bandages and a crossbow bolt, or wood. When applied the splint will allow players to stand up and walk with broken bones, however not run (morphine will still have a usage and be a necessity). 6. Spawn with the hunting knife, which can be used to gather wood kindling for usage in a splint with bandages, or part of a melee system for defence. 7. Ability to run with a torch while still illuminating the ground in front of the player. GAMEPLAY 1. Introduce a fully-fledged melee system, or reintroduce a starting pistol with only one mag until it can be done so. Reintroducing the starting pistol until a more complete melee system can be implemented won’t make the game easier, nor will it make it more accessible to inappropriate shoot-em-up audiences as a starting player will have to more strongly consider the sound of the pistol, and experience the drawbacks of the pistol – i.e. it cannot be used as a sniper rifle or a shotgun. It also will not detract from the heart crushing agony that death in the game provides, however it will remove the thereafter kick in the balls that no starting pistol currently gives players. 2. Everyone has been trying to think of a method to stop players disconnecting, however I don’t think this is the problem – I think the problem is players shooting at others meaninglessly. Punish players who shoot and hit or kill others players by preventing them from logging out for 5 minutes after the incident. Also, for players that are genuinely pathetic and do disconnect to escape death, after opening the pause menu, the player must wait 5 seconds before being able to click the disconnect button. This will prevent players disconnecting to escape zombies chasing them, and means players aren’t ever crippled by being unable to control their character from a simple delayed disconnect timeout. 3. Many more vehicles in the game (such as throughout towns and along roads) however make the vehicles highly damaged, often needing a complete repair. This will not make the game vehicular havoc like in Battlefield 3 due to the rarity and weight of vehicle assets, however the gameplay opportunities offered by vehicles is often not explored, given the sparseness of vehicles currently. Having vehicles available also enhances cooperative gameplay (common objective). 4. Night time, keep it dark as it currently is, however make lights have a more potent effect on their surroundings so the game is actually playable at night with a torch. Possibly introduce streetlights in towns. ____________________________________________________________ Obviously this is just my suggestions and opinions; you don’t have to agree blah blah blah internettiquette. Also, I’m not a programmer or game developer by any stretch of the imagination, so I have no knowledge as to whether the ideas presented above are possible in the ARMA 2/ DayZ engine. These are simply ideas presented at the face value that an idea should be. Written at 12am, give me a break my Führer. Tldr: Melee system, base building, weapon attachments, stop disconnect abuse and vehicles. Also, tell me your opinions on this shit, yo. http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/vsf81/gets_sniped_at_goes_around_steals_a_gun_from/

This is why the AS50 is so valuable
[email protected] replied to mind_grenade's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
That doesn't seem to hold up to how it plays in DayZ. It has more range than the M107 (1600m zeroing over 1200m, I believe), appears to be slightly more accurate, has less recoil, does not have quite as loud and distinct a sound making it somewhat harder to detect where you're being sniped from, and is every bit as effective at killing vehicles and players alike as the M107. Maybe not realistic to how things should be in real life, but that's the score in DayZ, the AS50 is superior to the M107 in most ways. The only area I can really think of that the M107 might be better in as far as gameplay goes is that it has a variable zoom that goes slightly further than the AS50's two levels of magnification. -
UK34, EXCESSIVE Admin Abuse [With Proof]
ferren replied to theorix's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
It is completely possible that the server crashed, and vehicles/tents did not initialize properly. Being only him on the server(Supposedly) after the crash, it rules out any intervention from friends to 'remove' his camp. Him livestreaming on the coast, rules out intervention from him. People are simply ignoring the plain logic of the situation, and are making up their own, twisted ideas of what happened, and everyone else is eating it like cake at a birthday party. This is the DayZ community. Server admin is most likely innocent of all of these accusations, and your attempt to spread as much shit as possible over yourself and the rest of the forums only hurts the drive to host servers for this game at their own expense, and provide any sort of service to the community. Go away. -

First off, I've read every response so far and just have to say You guys that are PRO the off-map changes (I'm all for this change) need to ease up on Ace a little. He's the only off-grid person that has had any credible input thus far. He's explained the reasoning behind it (For himself and his group) but at the same time is willing to lose it all and adapt. To you Sir, the new challenge is just beginning. On grid camps are a real pain in the arse to maintain. But with a force that is 20+ strong, you rarely need a great deal in storage to be effective at what you do. Have your camps on grid, and store spare gear, such as ammo etc. Anything you don't want to lose, have on your person. With a 20 strong team, that's a lot of storage space that can be logged on / off. I also believe you're on the right lines with the whole camp/fortress thing when it comes to end game. I'm sure we'll see some end game base system come into play. Eventually. Then we have the flip side of the coin, which in this case looks to be Juba and others. You guys are just incredible to listen to. The responses are just so far and beyond insane, I hunger for the next replies. Don't try argue semantics about what's on map/off map. It is clearly visible. Be more constructive. The barren wasteland would be a good addition to this incredibly small map as you see it. IF everyone had the opportunity to reach the same locations as you guys. Which, they don't. No matter what spin you put on it. Hoarding is the perfect term too - you are stockpiling needless shite for NO reason. you don't actually NEED that 40th pair of NGV's. But you have them. (perhaps a little exaggerated ;) ) I don't care about the tents off map - they make absolutely no difference to me, as a DayZ player. The loot will respawn. However, when the same groups of people are taking the LIMITED amount of vehicles out in to the middle of nowhere, you are directly impacting on other peoples DayZ gaming experience. And no one should have that ability to remove an aspect of the game. I know shooting someone in the face and taking their bandage and flash light off them, is also directly impacting their game. But I'm not removing an element of the game which the literally may never have the chance to experience. I'm in no way saying you didn't "work" for the vehicles you have stashed away. But it became exponentially easier after the first vehicle. Due to ease of getting around the map, as well as hauling the required parts. I'm also not bashing the more "legit" off map camps. That don't dupe items. (if there are any at all) These are the people, which will just shut up whining, accept the change and adapt. Yes is sucks HUGE BALLS that there are ESP hacks, and many scripts to find stuff throughout the map, so nothing is truly safe. But it was never truly safe out there anyway, as Ace said. It just reduced the gamble. the average Joe has to deal with these hacks on a daily basis, so must you. My conclusion is, this will result in less death match style gameplay from the "unlimited kit's" out there. Now gear is actually going to mean a little more. Simply because the fact it is not nearly as safe to stockpile gear. Of course you'll still get the deathmatch mentalists with nothing to lose in Cherno and Elektro. But once you've amassed your nice gear, do you really just want to run and gun towns down. Knowing that your tent may already be raped and pillaged and what you have on you, really is ALL you have? -
The operational range of the as50 is 300 meters less then that of the barret. The as50 is also designed as an anti-material rifle, to shoot out engine blocks or light vehicles. Overall a worse "anti personal" rifle then the barret
-
But Suspenselol, why do we want that server persistence? If you always play on the same server, why would you need a central database? Most people always play on the same server due to vehicles and tents, so why do we need to ability to have our characters the same on all servers? If they would let my server have it's own database, i would no longer be required to accept the strict rules on hosting a DayZ server and i would be able to set up servers with each different settings (e.g. PvP on/off) and all players have the ability to choose what they like to play! Also, server hopping is completely gone!

SPESSMEHREN (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I fully support this ellimination of out-of-bounds vehicle saving. Just one question though, to all those complaining about not being able to find a vehicle within the map boundaries: How hard are you looking? Yesterday I went for a drive along the edge of the map, and found no less than three fully repaired vehicles in the forests WITHIN the map boundaries. Not every vehicle on the server is going to be saved out of bounds (unless you're on a server with helicopters enabled, in that case odds are one person controls every vehicle on the server) Anyone complaining about not being able to find a vehicle is not looking in teh right places. Though I'd suggest anticipating a lot of vehicles to reappear in their default spawn points once everything outside the map is reset. -
I play as part of a pretty large group. There could be 15 to 20 of us on any given night, and we either roll as a group to loot towns like Stary or the NWAF or we will split into 4-5 man squads and do specific runs, like finding vehicles or gather medical supplies. Since we are such a large bunch made up of different playstyles, there is always someing getting in a jam, or dieing. It seems like my squad runs at least one search and rescue mission every time i log on, be it to the coast to help a respawn, or the middle of the woods to help a mate that fell out of a tree stand and has no food or morphine left. Stuff like that adds a level of urgency after you have geared up with all the goodies you personally want. Tonight we are going on a bandit hunt at all the regular hotspots. Hopefully we will help out a few people gearing up along the way. I will probably get killed, losing all my neat gear that has taken me 2 weeks to gather and loot, but so be it. Getting to this level is half the fun.

Fucking shit when it's not. It's come to the point where I've just gotta vent my anger, and at least here I'll have the possibility of receiving sympathy...maybe, seeing as it is the internet afterall. Ever get those really fucking bad strings of luck, where everything goes wrong, life after life? Well, that's what I'm currently having... A really poor string of luck with glitches, bandits and the whole lot. Firstly, lost all my hard earned gear by logging in while bleeding, despite being 100% sure I wasn't bleeding when I logged off previously, then when I was attempting to make my way back to the NW airfields I had a zed insta-gib me with bleeding and fractured legs off the first strike, then had some sniper lay me out within 30 seconds of spawning and various tedious glitches and problems which lead to 5 deaths within the hour. 4 of which were unnatural, which is my pet peeve with this game atm. Also, before anyone starts with the 'get good' banter and the like, let it be known that I've had my fair share of awesome loot, banditry and hoarding vehicles/weapons etc and just felt like venting. Anyone else feel like bitching about anything? I'll read it and sympathize with you, because I know that feel bro. TL;DR A cool story bro.

Someone was hacking in vehicles, turned everyone into dogs then erased the inventory. Happened at about 11:00pm (GMT+10) and who knows when it started. Attached is a picture of me as a dog next to my body, it's a bit hard to see due to the tree but yep, I'm a dog. Then there is a list of players in the next image. Caution: images are 1080p Oh yeah, it was ~11:00pm (GMT+10) Friday, 6th July in Australia. Tried submitting a ticket but couldn't log in so not sure what's up there.

Rungsberry replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Great news! I have no problem with people setting up tents off map if they can be bothered, but vehicles are very limited and it's no fun for smaller groups if they never get to see them or play with them. So it's a good thing that you can no longer stash vehicles off map (of course, resetting off-map vehicles kinda solves the off-map tent problem as well anyway). I've been playing almost every day for a month and have literally never seen a repairable vehicle. I hope to see one soon. -
Stuff like this is NEVER a coincidence. Server admins seem to abuse their powers all over the place, often in this exact way. Other times, they lock down their servers for "testing", rounding up all the vehicles while it's locked. I can't say I blame them. After all, good DayZ servers aren't cheap, and you basically get nothing in return for hosting one. But it still sucks.
