  1. Great news! I have no problem with people setting up tents off map if they can be bothered, but vehicles are very limited and it's no fun for smaller groups if they never get to see them or play with them. So it's a good thing that you can no longer stash vehicles off map (of course, resetting off-map vehicles kinda solves the off-map tent problem as well anyway). I've been playing almost every day for a month and have literally never seen a repairable vehicle. I hope to see one soon.

how many ppl will quit when.....

You can't really blame people for logging out to save themselves when it's so easy to do. If you're backed into a corner with no hope of escape, but there's one way you know you can save yourself, it's a very obvious way out, right? I've done it myself in the past - is there *anyone* here who hasn't done it? - but it just ruins the game. The threat of death is what this game is all about... I'm sure this is just something people learn early on when they get into the game. So people won't leave - they'll just get on with enjoying the game how it's meant to be... and most people who will play this game haven't even played it yet. The majority will barely believe this exploit ever existed...

    Removing stuff off-map

  4. Yeah I love the way DayZ makes you 'feel' something. Whether it be after killing or being killed. No other game does that.
  5. I never go near cherno/elektra/NWAF etc so don't get caught up in sniping or big fights. So I literally have no experience of all this so-called deathmatching. But I do randomly bump into other people in the wilderness and they'll shoot at me without even having to think about it. The problem is that there's nothing else to do in the game. Shooting for most people is more exciting than just waving someone past, of course it is... What else is there to do once you're kitted up? Personally I think it would be different if there was a MUCH bigger playing area and no public maps so that exchanging info with other people becomes a major part of the game. Where did you find food? Have you seen any lakes around here? etc

Idea to help friendly players stay friendly

Interesting - do you remember where you read that?
  7. Wait till you play a little more and you log into a nighttime server with no moonlight. See if you can see anything. Anything at all.

    What’s DayZ's biggest reward?

It's the way that it gets my heart thumping in my chest. No other game does that. Either meeting another player (friendly or otherwise), stumbling across a vehicle or crashed helicopter, getting murdered in the wild after days of peaceful scavenging etc etc. The game is all about those moments.

Idea to help friendly players stay friendly

If I was running around Chernarus irl, I might very well choose to wear a 'friendly' arm patch to make known my intentions. It's different from forcing a completely different skin on a player whether they like it or not... Of course, it would make friendlies more of a target unless bandits cannot see the patches... but that wouldn't be too unrealistic... Allies in wartime Europe regularly came up with secret signals to find each other...

Idea to help friendly players stay friendly

I'd keep it as simple as possible. Everyone has a white 'innocence' armband when they spawn, they can choose to equip it or not. It disappears from your inventory when you attack another player. Only people with white armbands can see white armbands on others. Just a subtle way for the goodies to recognise each other... It's different from saying friendly in chat as it's an instantly recognisable thing that requires no communication and as mentioned can be seen from a distance.
  11. Instead of gamey skins for bandits, why not just create a simple method for friendly survivors to identify other friendly survivors so teaming up is easier? That way you can trust the right people and steer clear of the murderers. I posted this idea in the suggestions forum: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=26180

    Smell (need to bathe)

Yeah I like this. Could also be tied in as a negative part of murder... if you kill someone and loot their gear, you could pick up the stink of their fresh blood, making you a more pungent zombie target...
  13. I personally don't like the murder aspect and go to great lengths to avoid being murdered or murdering other players. But I definitely think the threat of murder adds a lot to the overall experience and should be retained always. However... One big problem I think is that there are a lot of shoot-first survivors out there who would happily avoid conflict if they didn't feel like they'd be murdered as soon as their backs were turned. The lone wolf characters out there would be a lot happier if it was easier to identify like-minded players, don't you think? So how about introducing some kind of white armband that any player can choose to equip to signify their friendliness? One murder (or even one shot that hits a fellow survivor) and it's gone until the character dies so bandits can't use it to trick people etc. Then if two survivors run into each other in a barn or whatever, it would perhaps offer a visual reason to not just shoot each other in the face. Let the bandits do their thing, but give survivors some way of identifying each other... I miss the days when you'd be able to meet up, swap war stories and beans and then move on... that was a brilliant part of the game that's disappeared since the rampant murdering started.
