It's not like that, no. That's a bonus skill. If a whiskey bottle is full, (which IDK if they're even in DayZ, because I never picked one up) anyone would be able to find it regardless. If a bartender was a class, I have no idea what the specialization skill would be. No one is meant to be better than anyone else at anything, except the combat classes because they don't have special skills outside of combat that will help them survive. At exceptions of doctors, because not letting players give eachother transfusions is just too cruel, so them being able to use bloodpacks at their full potential and a bit beyond is understandable. That is, if you are replying to me, it works like this: players choose between combat and practical classes. The players who choose combat classes are better at one aspect of combat, but are at a disadvantage to not being able to repair vehicles and use bloodpacks effectively. The advantage is that combat class players can learn the practical skills through books. Practical class players have the advantage of being able get ahead of combat class players early in the game by getting vehicles or being able to heal better, but have the disadvantage of not being able to learn combat class skills. It's a gamble. Pick a combat class and try to use the skills to survive longer and learn the practical skills, or use practical class skills to get ahead and find better gear early on. Get it?

I'm trying to put together a big list of suggested dynamic events. But not retarded ones I'm talking about plausible randomized events that happen in the world that can drive exploration, create new experiences, and maybe even kill you if you're not paying attention. Radio Announced: These are events give notification to players w/radios in the vicinity. This suggests fragments of government or other organization still existing. Helicopter Crashes May-day, May-day, this is Charlie 2-4 we're going down. Helicopter rotors are audible through the static. Rather than having heli crashes spawn in set locations, have an actual helicopter with super low fuel be created in a random location with a random direction. Heli goes down, taking out surrounding trees and buildings with in a fiery explosion. Then the l00tz spawn. Cue the ensuing gold-rush as nearby players flock to the crash. These choppers should be a different make than the ones players can fly, to differentiate them. Plane Crashes Another generic distress call echoes over your radio. Bigger, louder, and more destructive than a heli crash. Plane crashes come in two varieties. Most plane crashes drop tons of food and water, vehicle parts, player outfits and raw materials. A small percentage of planes will drop massive crates of military hardware. Weapons, ammo, explosives, you name it. Supply Drops To any survivors, you are not alone...Proceed to grid xyz for supplies and equipment. Randomly located supply crates. Sounds notification on spawn. Crate contents vary, but generally they will have food and water, basic survival equipment, and portable generators. Transcending Reality/Endgame Rescue Helis To anyone who can hear this, proceed to mercy hospital grid xyz for evacuation. Legendarily rare on their own. Piloted and manned helis that land and wait for survivors. Crew will kill any nearby zombies, and humans who open fire near the heli. If you manage to kill the pilot and the crew and the heli is yours. Or, get in and wait for the heli to take off. When the heli reaches the end of the map, your screen fades to black. The words "You are Alive" appear. Quiet: These are events that simply happen. Treasure Maps Findable maps with a specific location marked. Each server would presumably have only one or two locations (so that there might be treasure races, or already cleaned caches). At the location there would be a hidden or even buried weapon/equipment cache. Lost Squad Ahh, the oft suggested "AI Cleanup Crew." Only, instead of a random fire-team of terminators, you get a rag-tag squad of lost soldiers. Decent weapons, low ammo, random equipment. Squads are largely non-confrontational, and will be spawned/despawned with considerations to player proximity. The skill setting should be somewhat low to prevent them instagibbing players. Soldiers will use different camo than any accessible to a player. Convoy In the chaos of the apocalypse, some people chose to get in their cars and scavenge from city to city. Occasionally, these bands of locusts cross through Chernarus. Convoys consist of four-five vehicles with the possibility of a military vehicle or technical being among them. Vehicles will contain small amounts of random civilian loot. Drivers will either panic and run or return fire with random civilian weapons. Leftover vehicles are likely to be in bad condition and low on fuel, but ultimately driveable. Civilian drivers will not wear survivor outfits to differentiate them. Zombie Migration Takes the population of a city and aims it at a certain other city/point/hugely unfortunate player. Then cycles in new zombies. Easiest way I can think of to implement this that doesn't run the risk of dropping 50 zombies on someone's head. I'll be throwing in more as people suggest them here and as I think of them. Don't call this whole idea retarded because of one specific section you don't like. Call the one idea retarded. Thanks for your consideration and winning team spirit.

Admin Duping & ESP on Dallas 69
Date (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I don't see any names or anything so i don't know how those pictures are gonna actually help out, you should have recorded the whole thing if you claim to see them log out. The pictures you provided is basically the same thing as an accusation by words. I've found 20 STANAG rounds in a box next to the helicopter crash site. If these guys have had camp and been working as a group for a while then obviously they've been raiding and looting stuff which can probably explain why you see like 4 AS50's and an amount of other magazines. Sorry i have nothing against you but you only showed us pictures of weapons, magazines, and vehicles. These guys are a group so finding vehicles won't be that hard, you have no proof of vehicle ESP as well. This type of duplication is common with so many DayZ players, not to mention many of them claim that they do it on DayZ threads again. This problem has been seen a while before the second patch was even announced. First my question is, you died, you came back with a Rangefinder, rocket launcher, M4A1 holo, and every other gears that cannot be obtained simply by just riding back to their base, how is this possible? -
Did the update break the Armory?
thecrackmuffin replied to eddie820's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah mine has been broken too. Shame, because in my off time from DayZ I liked to screw around with the guns and vehicles. Oh well. -
How the hell do I find repairable vehicles?
DayZPvP.com replied to MythCell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The thing is that clans and groups like to hoard vehicles. If that server does not seem to have vehicles this is the most likely answer. -
How the hell do I find repairable vehicles?
bofadeez replied to MythCell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Usable vehicles seem to be about as rare as heli crashes (just my observation), which is to say, pretty damn rare. When you do find one, they tend to stand out. They don't look like the rusted-out smashed-up wrecks all over the place. Graphically, they'll look fully intact. The only one I've seen in Cherno is a bus on the North/inland side, near the Hospital and the main road heading inland. I think I've also seen an ATV on one of the bridges heading east out of Cherno. There's often a car near the tents in Stary. I've seen a tractor at the gas station in Zelenogorsk, and I've read that Zelenogorsk in general is a good place to look for them. All in all though, I think specifically hunting for a vehicle is unlikely to bear fruit. I would suggest just keeping your eyes open for one. When you do find one, SAVE IT, then go hunting for parts. Doubt this is a complete list, but a good start: http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles -
How the hell do I find repairable vehicles?
JESUSARIUS REX (DayZ) replied to MythCell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you said "Chernarous", which is the name of the map, and judging your sentence, i assume you meant chernogorsk, teh city? if you meant chernogorsk, you will RARELY find vehicles there, as it is a popular loot area. look elsewhere on the map. also, drivable vehicles generally have coloring too them, and aren't all beat up. search on youtube for vehicle spawn points. -
Banned From US 763 for "Vehicle Hoarding"
Aitloian replied to Aitloian's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yeah well there is no way to contact the admin there is no name attached to it that I can find along with an email address. I don't consider myself a hoarder either, we got rid of two cars that were not needed in the group. There is 4 of us we don't need 6 vehicles lol. -
**[Official] US 217 Dallas Server Discussion Thread**
ihax replied to ihax's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Heyy let me know how it goes! I usually restart the server a second time if the first server restart doesn't show people's tents/vehicles. Is that a paid program? -
My friend and I scoured Chernarous and the area around it for like an hour and didn't find one repairable vehicle. Is there something that will help me find any repairable vehicles like color change or their common locations?
-
I think that customizing your hard earned vehicles would add a nice touch, i'm talking about adding a tag on the side, or re-enforcing the bumpers to with stand more damage, possibly adding spikes to the front to puncture anything that stands in your path. Just small modifications that enhance your vehicle and make it "YOURS". Constructive comments are appreciated, trolls will be shot and their beans taken....

Did you read my post? These are the things that normal people would do in this situation. Some were doctors, hunters, some enjoyed running, a few had some flight training, and some built a car with their dad in the family garage. These are using the skills you obtained as a civilian to help you survive, (in which you could just switch classes upon death) without giving you weaknesses or strengths, really. All it does is unlock something for you or get you A LITTLE bit better in an area of expertise. Also, changing them in gameplay makes no sense, as you suddenly picked up an entirely different skillset out of nowhere? Also, referring to my post, people could just change engineer when found car parts, pilot when found heli, medic when found bloodpacks, and hunter or police, when in combat. (yes, I realized the last to sentences start with the same word and comma, but I'm not going to change it. It was an editing mishap, so leave it be) As for the post above the one I quoted, ("This is your story.") you mean that you would need a team to survive? You wouldn't. It just helps. Getting a vehicle is already hard enough, so not many are engineers or pilots. Not too many people find bloodpacks, so doctors'll wise up and will probably switch classes. The rest are basically "solo" classes, meaning most solo players will choose them, and if they team up in game they still can't put a heli together and drive it. It has no guns anyway. Friends and clans might be able to but they were the only groups to really achieve this anyway. Only really the pilot needs an engineer to fix a helicopter, considering how huge an advantage it is. Part of "your story" is the people you encounter, but trust me you could live without those people no matter what class you were.. What if there were manuals, right? You find car or medical manuals that you keep in your inventory, and you can preform and action that the manual teaches, in the idea your player will look up what to do while preforming this action. To take it further, maybe the action will take twice as long until you learn the skill, and the manual is no longer needed. So say you found an engine repair manual. Putting the part together and then installing it into the car will take twice as long, until finished, in which you will have then memorized the skill, after only doing this once. Using bloodpacks, however, would be the only skill you would need to do multiple times. Same for heli. Repair it once, learn it. Then there's a pilot's manual that you use when you're flying. Once you land, just chuck it or burn it. Hey, it isn't perfect, but if people start complaining that they want to get vehicles but don't want to be an engineer, they can go find a book to teach them. They just pick it up, use it, then burn or chuck it, maybe sell it. It'd have to be really, really rare as to not have the idea of classes demolished by learning anything really easily. One random book every 5-10km and in random places? If someone picked it up after a time it would respawn in a random place. Say heli flight manuals at the crash or in a place with a helipad, medical manuals in the hospital, repair manuals in random houses or lying near cars, and ect. Think about the whole thing, classes and manuals. It's not the definite way to do it, but just imagine if it did what it is supposed to. Imagine if it focused on how people play the game, and made players survive different ways based on their skill sets? If it encouraged players to team up for survival but you did just fine without? I mean, no group of players with different or the same classes would be better off taking out a single player than they already were.

Zombies being overpowered is good...in concept right now it is just annoying.
Slyguy65 replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
True but we have no idea how they want the mod to be...IMO it doesn't feel like they want to change much (since most the NEW features are items and things that are minor like that) If they were going to let us clear villages and or make settlements and add more depth to the mod, i would think by now they would have added that in (the addition of line of sight where you can lose the zombies kind of gives me the idea they might go on to introduce more features but IDK) they could just be getting all the little things like items and vehicles in right now then expand upon it, just thought i would bring up the on and off again topic of clearing towns and even maybe the possiblity for settlements (which is unlikely but hey) Question: Do you guys think they are avoiding the zombie physics? or just don't know how to fix them? I merely ask since they do seem to just be focusing on adding items and improving performance right now (im all for the performance but why not focus on that and Ai and zombie physics at the same time instead of adding useless crap like tank traps...or wire fencing...or sandbags seriously they are useless the zombies just walk through it all anyway.) -
I'm sorry, but his attitude is kind of appropriate due to the fact you demanded something from people who have released something that is free. You were as rude as he is. Anyway, if you'd like to find vehicles, head north. I've found a tractor, a clean red car and an abandoned ATV that had 3 steaks and an outstanding sniper rifle on it.

Anyone else get a wiped server with 1.7.2.3?
Adrien (DayZ) replied to tehjeffman's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Happening to us too. It's weird because I thought tents are saved on the main server (same as vehicles when you "Save" them) -
Hello every one. First of all thanks to the devs for this very stable and smooth hotfix. A few things that i like to mention here, some feedback and some help to the issues people are having. 1. Up on first time log in from patch 1.7.2 to 1.7.2.3 you probably will have your character reset at a new spawn point and empty inventory, this happened to me and my friend playing on my server how ever as rocket stated that if you kill your character and respawn your old character settings and location will return. i can confirm this because as it worked for me and my friend, 2. I can confirm no more issues with any kind of clothing in the game. 3. No issues with gutting or cooking the animal meat what so ever. 4. Loading into the server seems to work normally (based on server ping and location) so no problems there so far. 5. FPS slightly improved it seems but i didn't notice anything wrong with the FPS before anyway. 6. If your having issues with Tents or vehicles not spawning then a server restart should help resync all that and make then appear again. Overall played for a good 4/5 hours everything was great, zombie aggro range seemed good and you can sneak past them if you do it right. Thanks again for the quick patch.

Just a few suggestions...i have a so many.
OW22 replied to Lord Turner's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the radio beacon and walkie talkie idea and all that, but all that should be required to infiltrate them is the use of them in enemy hands. Walkie talkie comms should be able to be hacked into by being within range and on the right frequency. As for hack kits and tool kits, no. Here's why: you are adding a new set of things to the game, which would be defined as devices. Say you had civilian classes, (read my post on this thread: http://dayzmod.com/f...z-have-classes/) and one was an electrician, basically a device manager, one who can use the technology well, that might work then. Those are the ones who should be able to use those kits to repair and hack devices. It kind of ruins the immersion when everyone can repair all-but-lost vehicles, pilot helicopters, and give friends successful blood transfusions, so this should be in the way of classes, especially if you are talking about clans using these items. Revive- They are dead. You can't give them more blood by zapping their lifeless corpse. Spawns? I don't like it. At all. It can be abused. What's stopping you from setting spawn behind an enemy base, going in gun-ho, then not worrying as you respawn not far away and still in range? Now you'll make up some, "well no, the person who owns the base would approve their spawn if they were a friend." Well now we have to deal with marking territory, ownership, and spawn requests. This can and will be abused. I don't really think you REALLY wanted this, just thought "If it worked it'd be nice." It would, but it won't, so it isn't. Broken Bones- In my opinion it should work like Fallout crippled limbs. If you fracture (which is more of what it is in the game than breaking) you go down and crawl but you're still moving your leg, when you play Day Zed. Like in Fallout, you should just move slower and drag your leg, but still be standing. Making a splint may be a good way to help your limb until it heals. You should only be able to hold 1 handed weapons if it's an arm splint. Also, limbs should not heal if only painkillers are used. Splints should be easy to make. Because they actually are. Might require new animations and coding, but it's not just for aesthetics, it's better than having to crawl with both legs now. For traps, bear trap has been added. Non-Lethal Ect- A suggestion for a tranquilizer gun has already been posted, and is a good idea, as it does allow for a more merciful game. Bindings- What if they just leave you there? You can't get out, and you can't do anything. Fun. Ammunition- Use what you got, no special treatment for ammo, it's just like any other item, so it should be treated like it. Weapon mods, again, not everyone knows how to put gun mods on, and not everyone has the tools to. You can still find some guns with a scope besides a snipe or a pistol with a silencer. -
Anyone else get a wiped server with 1.7.2.3?

Everything is gone, tents and vehicles. Don't even look like they are spawning as if it was a new boot. Trying to see if it was just me or everyone. -

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update
tehjeffman replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Patch wiped my server, all tents and vehicles are gone. Worst of all after 5 hours looking no new vehicles have spawned. -
Vehicles degrade very quickly when off the map to the point where it is very time consuming to keep things off map. Rocket has said that this is not the intent of the game, and will be fixed. This is in no way a priority. I find vehicles all the time, just try looking where you would hide a vehicle.
-
All players were playing as normal suddenly the server turned night time/ instantly 12 noon to 12 midnight 5 seconds later every player on the server died including those in vehicles along with vehicles exploding!!! No idea how this happened but def needs to be investigated. My understanding this is a "nuke hack"!!!
-
Really effective way of impressing how mature you are...I don't want to raid for other people's stuff or search for some specific servers only to get a vehicle. It shouldn't be allowed to park all of your vehicles and camps outside the map in the first place. That's simply not the sense of the game.
-
If you have any sort of intelligence you are hard done by finding vehicles in old servers, You need to get on a server that has just been setup or hunt for peoples camps. No one puts any camps in the open. So look in the black forest or up north off the map or near a dam. And why the hell did i tell you this now we are gonna get little fags raiding our camps.
