I found a car at a spawn point that was perfectly fine. I don't know how much time you have to wait for the respawn, but I know that if a player saves the vehicles somewhere, it will stay there even if there's a server restart. Players hoard all the vehicles they can in the forests, and I don't think they move unless destroyed. The only time I found a car at his spawn point was when the server had just opened and I was one of the first player.

Ok now jeez. Before this turns into an all out flame war I just want to say this. I forgive you for killing me. Its part of the game. I was shooting your friend driving the URAL so you shot me and saved his life. I was killed on day 31 with like 250 hours of gameplay on that character. Yea I was kind of upset for a second, but thats dayz. I had fun lighting up the URAL with my pee shooter. I put about 30 bullets through the windshield of that URAL with my Bison SD and then about 100 more into the side of the truck lol. Then I got sniped because I obviously gave away my position. I should have just shot 1 clip and then logged off, but oh well. Im not mad, its a game and I had fun defending our camp to the death. After my death I met up with my group and got every single item back within 20 minutes. Im sorry we chased you down and killed half of you but you did steal our vehicles. I just wish your other guys didnt log out when we chased them down. Im am NOT a hacker and my little brother is DEFINITELY not a hacker lol. He hardly knows how to work a computer. This game is the first PC game lilchronic ever played in his life. Also... You think my account would have lasted 31 days if I was hacking? Hackers get banned almost weekly and then they just buy a new key for operation arrowhead and start hacking again. Rinse and repeat. If you guys wanna come back to our server bring it on. We can be enemies or allies. I don't give a flying fuck. I can promise you this though. More of you will die than us. In the words of Hitler... "ALT-F4ing Pussies!" Oh and btw dont listen to spec. He made us look really bad a few posts back talking about the hacked in SVD Dragunov and L85 Thermal and camping the barracks 500+ hours yada yada yada. Come on spec. Tighten up bro.

yeahhh.... U know that vehicles don't disappear when you log out right? Someone else can just come along with the last wheel and drive it off while you are logged out. Thanks for the PSA though..

In my opinion, what DayZ lacks is some sort of character development. Yeah sure, you can get the best gear or all of the gear in the game and that could qualify as character developing but that is quite boring. It is also fairly odd that once we take control of this random person that has awoken on the beach, they instantly know how to handle WWII weaponry (Or any weaponry in the game), gut animals, gather wood, drive various vehicles, and fix various vehicle parts successfully. I certainly don't know if the ARMA 2 Engine could handle this type of mechanic, but proficiencies would give more replayability to the already lacking replayability state of DayZ. For example: The more you cook meat, the more you're proficient at it which reduces your chance of making burnt meat. The more you fire and hit a target, the more your gun proficiency increases, thus less sway when aiming. The more you repair vehicles, the more health you restore to the part in which you are repairing. (As far as I've seen, once you repair a part, it turns fully green.) A person more proficient at something another player is not at could encourage teamwork and such also. Thoughts?

So, if hackers got all the vehicles and destroyed them. Then why have i just ran around the map for the last 5-6 hours checking all known vehicles spawn locations and havent seen a single vehicle? Should those vehicles they destoryed have respawned by now?

You could just try Arma 2 tutorials and throw as many grenades around as you want in safe enviroment where nothing is at stake. In Armory you can also practice with other weapons, like sniper rifles and such, how the aiming works and how to hit longer distance targets. Not to mention spawning bunch of vehicles in Chernarus map and trying em out, just use editor for that. There is also trick for unlocking all weapons in Arma 2 Armory, so you can try whatever you want.

The requirements are: Must be mature, 21+ prefered Must be experienced Must be gattinous aka murderous aka good at killing people. Must have mumble for voice chat Must be located in the US or Canada Should have driving skills Should know your way around the map And last but not least, be able to work in a group. yep, you also don't have to spend 1-2 hours gathering items before you can move a piece of loot, then more time moving it through hostile territory. plus your loot can't get stolen while you are logged out. yep all of our vehicles magically appeared, fully repaired, in our camp, they also all magically disappear when we log off, LOL. the fuel tanks also refill themselves.

First of all, that isn't ALL you need to be able to do, there is no basic normal stuff with DayZ. 1. There isn't jumping in this game 2. You need to be able to go prone, crouch walk, crouch run, walk, run and sprint, as well as being able to roll when prone 3. You need to be able to lean to look round corners 4. You need to swap from weapon to flares, as well as actually change what weapon you're using (Main and secondary) 5. You need to be able to shoot, reload, iron sight and zoom with weapons 6. You need to be able to use binoculars, compass, watch, GPS, Map, NVGs and a flash light 7. You'll need to chat 8. You need to be able to freelook so you can walk straight forward while still being able to look around 9. You need to be able to quickly navigate through your gear, any loot you find and your back pack 10. You need to have God knows how many different binds for vehicles 11. You'll hardly be able to use the context menu with a game pad 12. You'll not be able to aim as well as you would on a pad as you would with a mouse, no auto-aiming/locking like you get on consoles 1. You should bind the keys yourself so you know what you're actually pressing to begin with 2. Hello, I basically posted this on reddit/r/dayz so I'm just going to copy paste it here because I figured out that it would mean more, sorry if it's too long. First of all I would like to start off with saying that English isn't my native language so expect some grammar/spelling mistakes. So, me and my friends played on a server called UK117, it's basically a server managed by a clan named "The MoFo police". We started playing on this server for about one week ago and I guess the server was pretty new back then and we could basically pick up vehicles at every spawn location which we did. We got to a point where we had eight vehicles actually (prt scrn here). One day upon logging into the server I noticed that the clan had a Teamspeak server and I logged into the server and started chatting with the clan, they were very friendly and nice people. I showed them the picture of our camp and told them that it was on their server which they didn't believe until I actually went and picked them up with a vehicle. So we drove around together with some people in their clan and even gave them a UAZ because we figured "why not, we're playing on their server the least we could do is give them one of our eight vehicles". I also made a bet to my friend saying "I'll give you five bucks if they still have the vehicle the next day". Surprisingly, when I hop onto their server the next day they tell me that they've lost it and jokingly, at least we thought, said that if we did not give them another one, they would reset the server so that they could get the vehicles at the spawn locations. And so they did. We logged on to find our entire camp gone, including the tents which are not normally removable, so we simply decided to start over by beginning to play on another server. When we confronted them about it over TS, they clearly sarcastically denied. Okay, here's the weird part though. One day later we decide to log into the server again and we find out that our camp was back (all vehicles/tents except one vehicle). We found this strange and we didn't think much about it, all we knew is that we had to switch camp. My friend took one vehicle and drove to pick up our third friend. I stood still in our camp, waiting for my friends to return. And that's when i notice one of the admins walking up on the hill, to our camp. I immediately run behind a tree, start shooting at him and he disconnects to the lobby. I run away to our Ural and figured that I should at least save one of the vehicles. I drive, as far as I can and then I get kicked from the server along with my two other friends that weren't even close to the camp. Here's when i start recording with fraps (sorry for not too good quality). TL;DR: We play on a server, find many vehicles, admins tells us to give them some vehicles or they will reset it, we don't give them, they reset, our camp disappears but appears again some days after, they've found the camp, they kick us from server to get everything. EDIT: Also, I know that tents/vehicles can randomly disappear but that's not the point here. The point is that the admins kept kicking us over and over again to steal our vehicles and get away. UPDATE 1: So my friends made it into the server (finally) while I was typing this post, I guess they got tired of kicking us over and over again, my friends drove to our camp and found out that all vehicles were gone except one tractor and the URAL that I managed to move before they kicked me. So, they kept kicking us until they grabbed five vehicles, and then they stopped kicking us.

I know. my point still stands though. you can't compare the spawn behavior of loot with vehicles. loot is infinite, vehicles are finite

lol vehicles respawn after 7 days of no use. (sometimes before) if you realized how much effort went into procuring a fleet of vehicles, you wouldn't thrash anyone for doing it.

Clan moved their base, all flying around in a new heli... Saw them again, 4 people of their clan with Aclatraz126 on board. The whole clan is cheating / hoarding vehicles and flying around with helis, banning people who are stealing them. And they disconnect from death and relocate on other servers. Got that on tape with some friends, with their names. All liars, damn cheater clan / server. Uploading 3 videos tonight of their heli action. PLEASE blacklist them. @Mourek: You are right, banning for disconnecting is forbidden. A Dev posted it in the forums.

Not true, unused vehicles despawn back to their spawn locations after a period of time

Yes, they can see your tents and where you park your vehicles unfortunately. Move on, try a new server. Until they really start to care about security in this mod the problem is going to persist.

I am by no mean hoggin all of the vehicles on our server. I was on our way back to our 2 vehicles when i got shot at several time by a m107. I took 20-30 min to look for the shooter and came up on his camp. I took his main vehicles and waited. killed him, and then destroyed their 3 out of 5 vehicles. I destroyed them 3 min before a random server restart. 2 days later the vehicles i destroyed we back in the exact same spot i parked them to destory them. I am not hording vehicles. I lost and found about 6 ATV and 2 dirt bikes. The only vehicle i cared about was the V3S. It had all of our loot. The rest we would take into town and get into gun fights with.

I have no idea what you people are on about vehicle hogging. You can't even hog vehicles since you cant stash em beyond the boundaries anymore. Person 1 finds a vehicle at spot A. He then takes it and hides it at spot B. Person 1 also has 3 other vehicles stashed at points C, D and E. What difference does it make if person 2 finds a vehicle at spot B instead of spot A? or spots C, D and E for that matter? If anything people trying to hog vehicles make it easier for other people, if he puts em all at one location. Then when someone finds em, he can tell others where they are, and more people get fully fixed vehicles at the ready. Or he can just leave them be for others to find, or he can blow em all up and return them to spawn locations. Either way, they're still all in the map and anyone can find em just the same. Explain what's so bad at trying to hog vehicles since all it ever does is change spot A to spot B, which is no different.

Yeah, you shouldn't be hogging vehicles like that. It's complete bullshit that you're fucking everyone else out of having one because you want to just look at them and circlejerk your epeens with each other.

I dunno, I kinda like that post where Rocket borrows a couch to someone and it's used for hardcore anal sex instead of sitting or sleeping. OnT : I'm just glad reserved slots are being worked on. In the long run, for Arma 3 or standalone I wouldn't mind paying a subscription fee for official servers. Endgame wise, servers might as well be local, considering that vehicles, tents and one can assume, any future bases or other sweet clan type content stuff are local.

If admins can ban players at will, it's similar to them having a locked server or a no-friendly-fire server; the server can potentially just be used as a loot farm, with only players the admin likes playing on the server. The banned players also lose all their tents, tent items, vehicles, vehicle items, fortifications, and traps, often on the admin's whim. Regarding there only being a small number in favor of official DayZ rules, for one, that's irrelevant to the truth of the matter, and secondly, people don't often speak out unless they're opposed to the status quo.

Yeah I have had a hacker on my server the last few days. Caught him today. Idiot offered my guys a ride. Logged out and in on a different name asked them to get him to pick me up, he landed his Chopper at the NE airfield, spawned in an Anti Tank Rifle, and went into on of the hangers. I got into the pilots seat and took off, knowing that the 20 Seconds needed to lift off might kill me. He hit the Chopper once, I was bleeding missed few more times before I got the auto hover off and took off at full tilt. Literally. Landed hard in a clearing about 1.5km away. Saved the chopper and reset the server to check if it was legit. It was not. Hacked Equipment will disappear with a server reset. Video, Script Log and GUID screen shot gather and BANNED! If I can't spawn in vehicles I certainly am not going to let anyone else.
