24 Year old looking to play with more mature players around 20+ year olds. I'm a close quarters combat in dayZ. I prefer MP5SD and M9SD. I play medic role, engineer, and infiltration. I'm a serious player who has been in gaming for a long time. I've been in my fair share of established clans and now looking to be in one who I can support with my tactics and expertise. I'll barricade roads, set up entrenchments, repair damaged vehicles, revive downed snipers, build a medic base for blood transfusions and supplies. I execute trapdoor spider role in close quarters areas, where snipers can't see. Forward recon where no man wants to go. I like to do the dirty jobs. I don't require rare equipment, i'm fine with an MP5 or any other common assault rifle. I'm expendible and an asset. Do I want there to be more vehicles? Yes. Do I think there should be more vehicles? No. It is their scarcity that makes them so special. If everyone had one, the feeling of pure adrenaline would not be there when you finally heard that engine sound for the first time, or slipped out on to the road and hit 100 kph for the first time. Some things should be rare. It makes them special. And memorable. And DayZ is all about making memories. I will remember my first vehicle forever. Literally. No joke. That first time I glanced over into the trees and saw the glint of the sun off of that Land Rover parked in the pines. My precise Winchester slug that pierced the eardrum of the driver and left him bleeding out while I jumped in and tooted the horn. And that sound. The rum-rum-rum-rum budda-budda-budda and driving out into the sunset and on to the road and nothing I could do could wipe that smile off my face. Let them stay rare. When you finally find one you will thank me. There are no "special" locations. There are just locations. If vehicles are there, you can find them. The map isn't as large as it seems. Grab a couple friends and head to the northern forests. Run around and keep your eyes open. You will be in a vehicle before the sun comes up I promise you. -

I would like to see some more. It seems like those that have the vehicles hoard them in a special location. Maybe not trucks but at least ATV's or motobikes -

I have no idea if the spawn rates should be increased because on most servers they are being hoarded by clans or small groups so I never get to see/feel out what the spawn rates are actually like! I've seen 1 bus and that was being used by a clan. If anything, I would like to see hoarding addressed and then maybe we can talk about spawn rates. Maybe at least increase ATV/bike amounts of servers to more players a chance to check out what vehicles are like :/ -

I'm not here to argue, but I'll respond since I am the OP. I had intended for this to be informative, and for BIS decide if this was appropriate or not. I had made my decision. I want to play on a server where admins abhor this type of behavior, not allow and defend it. I see a lot of people trying to minimize what the known players are doing. Calling this an exploit only, or even a glitch. This is not a glitch, or an exploit. An exploit is a use of game mechanics in an unintended way to gain an advantage. It's disconnecting under fire so you don't die. It's ghosting. It's stealing items from others packs in debug forest. A hack is a manipulation of either the server side or client side files in order to gain an advantage. It doesn't matter if you are using a third party designed program to do it for you, or manipulating the files manually yourself. I'll state again; I am not reporting Faindizzle hacking. However, he knew about it. He allowed it. Everyone who reads this can decide for themselves whether they believe this is legitimate testing or not, and whether these players were killing anyone who came into Cherno, and stealing hidden vehicles because they could see across forests to just to help fix the game, I'm reporting this because: 1) NY7 is a server I played on, helped promote and donated to. It is a heavily promoted server, with known streamers playing on it. A lot of people are enticed to come check out this fun server. I'm warning people, as I feel the admins should have been, that apparently there is some testing of potential hacks going on in Cherno. 2) I'm letting BIS know of what I feel may be inappropriate behavior on a server they allowed to host DayZ. Hacks are really hurting DayZ. It's popularity and demand for the product went from just a small base of ArmA 2 players checking out Hall's mod, to having a larger player base than most live MMOs. I like the people I met on NY7. I liked some of the people currently hacking, and I certainly liked Faindizzle whom, until this, I thought could be a leader in this fledgling community. However, I don't stand for hacking, and I'll roll over on people in my own clan if I hear about it. So, sorry if hurt anyone's feelings with this thread, but, yeah... Fuck hackers. -

This camp had more then one tent and two vehicles, a white car and a tractor. We stole the tractor and left the white car, until today, we took that a few hours ago. I can't give out the camps location, for safety reasons. I apologize, you don't want to go snooping around there anyways, the 5-6 guys last night will tell you the same. -

Probably just luck as in the last week of playing i encountered no vehicles what so ever, but in the last 2 days alone i managed to come across A tractor, 2 broken cars (1 i fixed and then lost), a bus, and 2 bikes being used by other players. If anything i demand skateboards.... -

Unlike yourself I actually find and repair all my vehicles, and yes a few have gone missing unexplicably, however my motto for gear in DayZ is 'easy come easy go'. If you have a vehicle, use the hell out of it as soon as you get it working, don't expect it to be there when you log back in and its all good. Actually some vehicles I actually wish would get stolen (the old boat for example, the thing only goes 11 Spd WTF!) -
How do i register my server for common vehicles and helicopters?

It shouldn't be forced into being disabled. It should be upto the server host on what vehicles are available - Afterall, you can't take that heli cross server with you, so there isn't any abuse to be had on that level. -
well, him and the buddy who died both had 3000 and 950 Z-kills respectively... and we (my squad) saw them drive a 2 vehicles past Devil's castle, (we could see the nameplates) We considered chasing them down and taking them out (since they were the top on the server) but decided against it... skip ahead an hour almost; we saw that the buddy died, we rejoiced! then we were booted... along with everyone else on the server... and the rest is history

short of hacking, idc how he got the vehicles, he deserved them if he got them, plain and simple. hes hording them so what? theres nothing stopping anyoen from fidning them. if he didnt take it, someone else would, it doesnt matter who has them, someone will. it sucks they are gone too, we all lose things do to explots/bugs, ive seen groupd on youtube lose alot more at once due to alpha. never fun to see. -

Meh, I like the idea of having more cars/trucks/atvs/bikes. The best feeling I had playing the game was finding a working tractor with a brand new character taking it to Cherno to get owned. They do make sense as a mobile base, but that is why you don't see them much because they act as a moving tent. I would rather see more vehicles and less military grade weapons, but this isn't my mod. I would love to see dirt bikes more common and without storage, so there is no real incentive to keep them as a mobile tent. -
We use the term frequently on pvx (Guild Wars Build Database). Yes, I paid $20 to have fun, I am so stupid. WHAT IF I SPEND ANOTHER $20 TO HAVE FUN AGAIN!?!? You're a unique little snowflake aren't you? Anyways, I have no issues with heli's except desynchs on SUPER laggy servers (200+ ping). Honestly helicopters make the mod fucking amazing. A bitch to learn how to drive, it's a shame rocket hasn't made vehicles more common, they really add to the experience.

I think its good. The problem is that at a certain point of a server, one or more clans will have stockpiled all vehicles for themselves. I'm in a clan myself, and were doing this (right now its going crap though, we just have a bunch of boats :D) but I can understand the frustration. At the same time, when you DO find a vehicle with your buddies, the feeling of blazing by on the road, oh man. And part of that feeling comes from knowing just how rare that thing you're sitting in is. -

I don't get butthurt by people killing me. I just tried to start a new character today and was killed either on the coast or in a costal town by players carrying mil-spec gear. I must have died 10 times in 4 different servers before I just gave up. The problem people have is that since the game has no significant end-game content there is nothing left to do but shoot other people along the coastline. Once you've mastered the art of scavenging, avoiding zombies, building camps, and repairing vehicles, there's not much left. -
Syphon's in game name is Chriz or Huffandpuff. "On the server CKWgaming.com the admins had a camp i found and raided it and now they look at cords when i log in and they try to kill me so they started shooting at me when i log in so i d/c and they said you combat d/c so were gonna ban you which they didnt and my friends friend is in there clan and he said they use a script to see all veichles and they take them and i also heard they dupe items by puting them in tents and restarting the server so if i log into there server they come and try to kill me so if you can please ban them for abuse. Thank you" We have not looked at coords in order to find you, we don't have access to that, do you have proof? We used someone who was your "friend" to get specific information about you and the location where you constantly combat logged to avoid being killed, which was FRAPS'd. We have copies of that conversation via Steam. As far as banning you, that's up to the actual admin of the server as he has proof of your logging. Your supposed friend is not apart of our clan and we know that he has been in contact with you from one of our sources, we have NEVER said anything about one of our members using a script hack to find vehicles, you are completely false and I would like to see recordings/conversations where it was said. We have over 15 people that frequent the server, we have found, lost, destroyed, etc over 15-20+ vehicles within the month or so the server has been online. As far as the duping of items, show proof? The server has been having various desync issues and has had to be restarted multiple times within the past week or so, the admins are working with the host to correct those issues. You come here spitting lies about the CKW server but I see no screenshots, no video recordings to back any of your claims, where as if needed, we can provide video and text conversations to prove ours. I was just talking to my friend/ gaming buddy about this today actually. As an iron worker ( welder) and fan of apocalyptic type of scenarios, I have said on many occasions one of the first things I would do personally is mod the shit out of some sort of vehicle for extra protection. But from the stand point of Dayz, that means they would have to make models for all the vehicles, extra scripting etc etc. The idea is awesome, and makes perfect sense, we can only wait and see.

The Biggest Plausible Dynamic Events Thread Ever

Exactly my thinking. Like...1 event per 3-4 hours/day or whatever per server or something. Combined with the big wide-openness, it'd be pretty rare to actually see a heli go down or something like that. 1. According to whom? All that's been revealed is that Chernarus is fucked. There might be some military entity with a few planes left, who knows? It might only be a day or two after the infection, it's not like planes would cease to exist by then. 2. Throw it off balance? Yeah, it'd be exactly like dying, so don't do it if you don't want to. Sometimes, though, people get tired of a character, or want it to go out in the most epic way possible. You don't have to do it, but a plausible way to actually "survive" would be cool. 3. According to...? Zombies are AI. Animals are AI. I don't want there to be huge NPC squads of terminators, or shopkeepers or anything. Just a few bots w/low supplies roaming the hills. 4. You realize that ARMA can support way way more vehicles than DayZ uses? And not just car hoarders, anyone who wants a car. Also, alleviates the issues with designated car spawns. 5. Again, according to who? If rocket/whoever can find a way to make it work, then it'd be awesome. If not, w/e. -
I'm trying to put together a big list of suggested dynamic events. But not retarded ones I'm talking about plausible randomized events that happen in the world that can drive exploration, create new experiences, and maybe even kill you if you're not paying attention. Radio Announced: These are events give notification to players w/radios in the vicinity. This suggests fragments of government or other organization still existing. Helicopter Crashes May-day, May-day, this is Charlie 2-4 we're going down. Helicopter rotors are audible through the static. Rather than having heli crashes spawn in set locations, have an actual helicopter with super low fuel be created in a random location with a random direction. Heli goes down, taking out surrounding trees and buildings with in a fiery explosion.Then the l00tz spawn. Cue the ensuing gold-rush as nearby players flock to the crash. These choppers should be a different make than the ones players can fly, to differentiate them. Plane Crashes Another generic distress call echoes over your radio. Bigger, louder, and more destructive than a heli crash. Plane crashes come in two varieties. Most plane crashes drop tons of food and water, vehicle parts, player outfits and raw materials. A small percentage of planes will drop massive crates of military hardware. Weapons, ammo, explosives, you name it. Supply Drops To any survivors, you are not alone...Proceed to grid xyz for supplies and equipment. Randomly located supply crates. Sounds notification on spawn. Crate contents vary, but generally they will have food and water, basic survival equipment, and portable generators. Transcending Reality/Endgame Rescue Helis To anyone who can hear this, proceed to mercy hospital grid xyz for evacuation. Legendarily rare on their own. Piloted and manned helis that land and wait for survivors. Crew will kill any nearby zombies, and humans who open fire near the heli. If you manage to kill the pilot and the crew and the heli is yours. Or, get in and wait for the heli to take off. When the heli reaches the end of the map, your screen fades to black. The words "You are Alive" appear. Quiet: These are events that simply happen. Treasure Maps Findable maps with a specific location marked. Each server would presumably have only one or two locations (so that there might be treasure races, or already cleaned caches). At the location there would be a hidden or even buried weapon/equipment cache. Lost Squad Ahh, the oft suggested "AI Cleanup Crew." Only, instead of a random fire-team of terminators, you get a rag-tag squad of lost soldiers. Decent weapons, low ammo, random equipment. Squads are largely non-confrontational, and will be spawned/despawned with considerations to player proximity. The skill setting should be somewhat low to prevent them instagibbing players. Soldiers will use different camo than any accessible to a player. Convoy In the chaos of the apocalypse, some people chose to get in their cars and scavenge from city to city. Occasionally, these bands of locusts cross through Chernarus. Convoys consist of four-five vehicles with the possibility of a military vehicle or technical being among them. Vehicles will contain small amounts of random civilian loot. Drivers will either panic and run or return fire with random civilian weapons. Leftover vehicles are likely to be in bad condition and low on fuel, but ultimately driveable. Civilian drivers will not wear survivor outfits to differentiate them. Zombie Migration Takes the population of a city and aims it at a certain other city/point/hugely unfortunate player. Then cycles in new zombies. Easiest way I can think of to implement this that doesn't run the risk of dropping 50 zombies on someone's head. I'll be throwing in more as people suggest them here and as I think of them. Don't call this whole idea retarded because of one specific section you don't like. Call the one idea retarded. Thanks for your consideration and winning team spirit.

No. Vehicles are nice as they are. Like the Macarov back a few patches ago became garbage because everyone had one. Now that you start without they are nice to find. Vehicles would become the same because everyone and their grandma would have one. I do howerver think there should be more bicycles or possibly a scooter. -

Think there should just be some way to prevent car hoarding, cars should still be something special and not common, but right now they become a myth. In the last month closest i've come to vehicles was the sound of a car in the distance and the ring of a bicycle whilst i was inside a house. -
Because if a player finds your camp where you park your vehicles, he can only take one of them. So if you have a lot of cars he can't take them all, but if you only have one, you're screwed.

this is why I think that vehicle spawns should spawn in new vehcles evry X amount of time up to a maximum amount of said vehicles of that type in server at any one point
