    No Heli on server ?

^ Idd. Kind of glad they removed them. The radar in the choppers shows vehicles if they are close enough if I'm not mistaken.

Are Ghillied Suits and NV Goggles spawning?

Damnit, I found an L85 at a crash site the other day, thought they had been removed and didnt work so I left it. There was a nameless item below it too, that added to me thinking I should just leave it there. I was wearing a ghillie at the time of the last major patch, it just dissapeared and Im back in civies now. The vehicles on most servers have been taken by clans and hidden away off map. Any that are left are usually snatched up quickly and hidden in the woods by other survivors. OP, if youve only been playing for a week, its really not unusual for you not to have found all of the rarest loot in the game. If it was possible for everyone to get that high tier gear right off the bat, the game would have zero longevity asside from pvp.

    Hacked in vechicles

I take it from what I have read, hacked in vehicles are spawned in and there data is in the Hive database. I have no had time to research what format the Hive database is in, but is there a way of having validation so if a vehicle is spawned that isn't allowed in the database it just doesn't appear? It's all good and well us adding it to our scripts file on BE to stop scripts but BE isn't exactly hard to circumnavigate.
  4. We have tents already but i'm here to suggest we have another method of storage. Crates. Yes.. crates. these would be useful as they could be stored in buildings also and may promote clans to start taking over and guarding buildings. (there are loads on the map that aren't used as loot spawns and it would be nice to occupy them). It would be nice if you could pick these up with the items still in them and moved around. Even put inside vehicles for extra storage or just put in the corner in a building. Little simple thing but would be a very nice addition to have :)
  5. NVG's spawn in hangars, I was lucky enough to find a few tents and they had ghillie's. Saw plenty of vehicles.
  6. I'm not sure if this has been caused by a hacker who came onto our server yesterday but since his spawning of vehicles and items etc our server has become quite laggy. Anyone else having problems? Cheers lads!
  7. I dissagree Orlok. Flying vehicles, and any vehicle with a mounted weapon on it just take you out of this game. I am certain they are perfectly valid for ARMA 2, but DayZ is a different animal all together. If you are flying above the map, then you are removed from the zombies. You are removed from most other players. You are removed from what makes DayZ different from ARMA2. Yes civilian vehicles with no guns on them would be better than military vehicles with guns, but not by a whole lot because they still remove you from the world. It is just my opinion, but if you want to fly then play ARMA2. If you want to kill zombies with jets and missles, and all of the gadgetry of ARM2, there are mods for that also. Come to DayZ for something different.
  8. BEST ******* NIGHT EVER!!!! ------------------------------------------- Quick Version: In a 3 hour period, pantalga and I had this adventure: - find & loot crashed heli - loot factory (near Polana) - spot "Military OffRoad" vehicle... proceed to steal. - get into firefight with 3+ survivors - DOMINATE - Get brand new URL LOADED with gear (pics below) - Enjoy BEST NIGHT EVER in DayZ -------------------------------------------- Longer Version: All night, Pantalga and I wanted to find a vehicle. This was our goal and dictated our actions. Also, my role was sniper/recon (AS50 & M14) and Pantalga was designated loot-runner and heavy MG (M249). Anyway, we started near Gorka and decided to search it and its neighboring towns for a car. Striking out in Gorka, we head to Polana. As I'm checking the town, I notice a downed heli on the south-east side of Polana. Maneuvering around Mt. Dubina, I provide overwatch while Pantalga runs in and loots it (along with a random dead body he finds). Next stop is a factory not too far away. Again, I nestle down in the highest hill in the area, directly across from the factory. As I check due east, I notice a SWEET vehicle poorly hidden on a hill (http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Military_Offroad). Pantalga and I snag it, and bring it close to the factory. Pantalga successfully raids the entire thing and dumps his loot into our new portable/drivable tent that has 120 slots . We begin to head back NW along the road through Polana toward a small gas station we noticed (due east of Gorka). We chose to drive through the woods of Mt Dubina and only after I ran ahead and scouted for bandits. After the all-clear, Pantalga moved in (sticking to the woods). Again, I provided overwatch and general zombie-watching while Pantalga made 5 trips to the gas pumps and back to the truck (thanks to our single jerry can). Just as he's returning and placing the full jerry can into the truck inventory, I hear Pantalga panic, shouting "Another truck! Another truck!" Whereas we had played things stealthy, sticking to the woods, some survivor rolled right into the gas station (with this thing http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ural_Civilian)and parked at the pump! In no time at all, Pantalga engages with his fully auto M249. With over 600 rounds of ammo, he holds nothing back. The Survivor bailed out of the driver door (opposite us) and ducks down behind the front wheel, keeping us from getting an easy shot on him. I inform Pantalga of the targets location and immediately press "f" to highlight ma 'nade. Just as I release the grenade (slightly overthrowing it) Pantalga yells "ANOTHER vehicle approaching!" and another vehicle rolls up (this one http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/images/f/f1/S1203_van.jpg) with 2 survivors. The van rolls to a stop just as my grenade explodes, which helps change the mind of the driver... he speeds off as fast as he can. Seconds later, Pantalga spots the feet of the lone/abandoned survivor and makes a critical shot. The man crumbles into view, giving Pantalga the angle he needed. Another 5 round burst, and the fight is over. During this skirmish, we used 2 M-14 DMR mags worth of ammo (40 rounds), 1 nade, and around 100 M249 rounds. It is worth noting that Pantalga shot out the front-right tire during the firefight. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR WHAT IS COMING UP (and it was so badass to watch that heavy truck shift its weight as the tire exploded). While the Driver of the truck is down, there are still 2 other unaccounted for. Will they return? Will the flee? There was no telling. We decide to pause a moment and take a look at the map, which provides us with HUGELY important information... the road that the van drove off on loops back directly BEHIND where we were! We could be flanked at any moment from the downward sloping hill to our 6. We decide to put eyes on all parts of the road close to us, so we choose a path through the woods due North of our location and make a bee line there. We inspect a large section of road but find nothing. Satisfied, we begin to return to our spoils (body + new truck). Just as we're coming into view of our Military truck, something in my head tells me there is something amiss... then I notice the Bright blue Ural was not where we had left it, but about 30m higher up a hill. Just as this is all clicking in my head, I see a survivor, not 50m in front of me, in plain view staring at our red truck. I panic and verify that this is not Pantalga, that we didn't get turned around somehow and he reassures me it's not. I let 3 shots fly and all 3 make contact. +1 murder. By this point, we are going nuts... the action is too much to take after so many hours of almost boredom. I run up to check his pack and about pee myself when I see the 3rd survivor 100m up the hill at my 12 oclock, lying prone with his eyes down his irons. I freeze, thanking God I'm in the ghillie... there's no other explanation for how he didn't see me. Anyway, he's also staring at our red truck, undoubtedly trying to surprise us as we return to our vehicles. He didn't even have time to react as the 7.62 DMR round broke through his glasses. Chalk another one up for me. We scan around and finally determine that we can finally breathe. We've just beat a random encounter somehow lucked into flanking an trap set at our original vehicle. Not only that, but Pantalga's accidental shooting of the Ural's tire had prevented the bandits from retrieving their vehicle and running. Talk about luck! But lady luck wasn't done with us yet... We immediately start digging through each player's inventory for goods, certain they will all be racing back to get revenge on us. The first 2 bodies have the usual... medical supplies, ammo, etc. The final body (the first kill, the Driver of the Ural) carried a little something special - Suppressed PP-19 + 4 mags, plus 3 blood bags, GPS, and Antibiotics. This was obviously the ring leader based on his gear. By now, we're giddy. And then I check the gear of the Ural and my jaw hits the floor. There's more stuff in there then I've ever seen at one time. Loads of guns, 11 blood bags, 10 cooked meat, 4 tires, 6 full jerry cans, the list goes on and on! We hit the mother load! That's why they wanted to evac the vehicle so bad, it was a collection of hours and hours of looting... and it is ours! But now we had to get it to safety. Plus, there's the issue with the blown out tires... oh wait! There's 4 in the inventory! We couldn't believe the luck. Once the car was in working order, we evac. We pick a route and do our best to quickly put some distance between us and that gas station. Pantalga drives the red mil vehicle and I handle big blue. Just as our heart rates are starting to slow to normal levels, we realize our problem... the city we're headed toward, the one we HAVE to go through, has zombies in it which means someone is in it! We decide to take the risk and blow through full throttle. Pushing 50, we do our best to weave through debris fields scattered along the road. We're not half way through the town when the shooting starts... rifle and small arms fire rains down on both of us. We count 3 or 4 distinct shots and hope there's no more ahead. Despite some hull and tire damage, we make it through the town unscathed. After all this excitement, we are simply worn out. We decide it's best to find a safe place to hide the vehicles and call it a night. Of course, we spent a few minutes taking the screenshots I link below. All in all, this was about as good as it gets in DayZ. Hope to see you guys in game soon! I uploaded some screenshots of the spoils! http://imageshack.us/g/10/arma2oa2012071601395797.jpg/
  9. I am so sorry for you. The developers really should stop hacking into your computers and writing scripts that force you to play a certain way. /sarcasm Helicopters should stay out of the game. IMO they don't fit the feel of the game at all. It takes you out of the survival mode, and lets you zoom around the map in a flying fortess while being immune to zombies and much safer from other players. And as someone else said adding Helicopters will not cure you from your boredom. Within a day you will have your chopper up and running and be bored again. This will then force you to fly around the coast and big cities killing everyone you see with much more expediency than you did before. If you are that bored because you have "everything" then here are a few ideas: 1) Put everything you have into tents and run all of them over, then drop the vehicles off in high traffic areas where other players (beside yourself) can easily find them, then respawn. Now you can get it all back while starting with nothing, this should be at least as much fun as it was the first time and give you something to do. 2) break into a few smaller groups and hunt eachother down with all of your phat lootz. This should prove much more entertaining than hunting down random poorly equipped players on the coast. 3) Play the good samaritan. Pack up a few czech or alice packs with gear and run along the coast. See how many new players you can help before getting killed. Honestly 1 is the best option imo. It solves all of your stated problems. The only real reason you wouldn't want to do it is if all of your excuses are just that, excuses for doing what you really want to do anyway and a way of asking for a even more powerful weapon (choppers) to do it with.
  10. As a ArmA series player since 2001 be VERY carefull with vehicles that isnt green.

    Hackers On US23

...AND you guys got chased-down by 2 ATVs while you were driving big-slow vehicles, not too hard to figure-out that formula especially when the guys at camp knew which direction you were headed. A failed car-jacking attempt is what it was - barely I might add but still failed... Oh, and who was logging in-and-out and waiting for us as we approached camp? One of our guys spots a guy in a Ghillie suit at our camp just chillin' so he takes cover, gives approximate coordinates and one of our snipers locates him after he finally moves. Then from around 500 meters and, well needless to say the "problem was handled accordingly"... :P
  12. It's pretty obvious you don't have much experience with vehicles as this has absolutely nothing to do with your driving skill. Please go troll somewhere else.

    Hackers On US23

So I heard about this ordeal today unluckily for you guys I was not on. I love how you throw accusations around about chronic and lil chronic hacking because you "continued to take fire no matter how far you got". Did it not occur to you that people are following and shooting? Also how come you and your clan of people who disconnect while being shot at all left while they were chasing you? I believe you were the only ones who broke rules here feel free to have logs posted because I can guarantee the only person in the wrong here is in you. Why dont you go disconnect some more after cowardly taking other peoples vehicles and leave at the first sign of trouble some more...
  14. horrgakx

    Just, wow.

LOL oops. Well it WAS in the middle of a road, looked like it had been abandoned. It didn't even occur to me to check the contents of the car. Which leads me to ask another question; So vehicles remain in the game, where you left them, for all to see when you quit the game? So, what happens when I log out and I was sitting in the car at the time?

    US 135 - Shady?

I'll chalk this one up as one hell of a sniper shot. New player here...how would one go about forcing a 'save'? Do vehicles travel with you to different servers? (I am guessing they do not)
  16. It takes a very specific series of events in order for a vehicle to EXPLODE IN A BALL OF FIRE. The entire system is so Hollywood it's laughable. True story: ATV randomly flips over. Engine is red. We leave it in the field. A few hours later another member of the group gets on it. He drives 3 feet and gets consumed by a fireball. Moral of story: ATV's are deathtraps as are vehicles with damaged engines. But, yay for bear traps!
  17. Fully repaired and mostly repaired vehicles have seemed to be more common for a few patches now. Though I have been finding a lot less of them....bad luck I guess.

    Banned for Atlanta 73

The owner wrote through BattleEye that it was for THIRTY as50's. About a week prior to this someone on the server reported that they found one of the cheated ammo boxes on the server in a forest with 5 of every weapon in dayz, and weapons not from dayZ in it. It was apparent someone on my server was hacking. Fast forward to last night, while searching woods in an attempt to find camps I stumble upon a quaint little base with the UARL, two trucks, a bus and about 5 other vehicles. This was all fine and well until i looked into the contents of the bus and and UARL and between the two found over 30 As'50s, 17 NVG and more then 5 of every other end game weapon. I can understand a slew of weapons, but Thirty AS50's and 17 NVGS is way too much of a give away. Especially considering that my group routinley checks downed helis every restart, we often leave weapons there but not 30 as50s worth, not in the month the server has been alive. A total of 7 of them were banned last night, all with Russian IP's. Another player on the server also mentioned to me a few hours earlier they were in Cherno and found almost every building blown up. There were about 7 dead bodies of one of their group named Max all scattered within the same area, all still with satchel charges on them. Noting that when I searched the logs of every player i was able to then identify their group and noticed every single one of the suspects had literally every tool(inc nvgs/range finder/gps), an AS50, and 3 or more pipe bombs on them. I believe as anyone should note Satchel Charges are hard enough to find, the fact that this group not only had over 30 as 50s as well as clearly over the same amount of satchel charges as well as the mysterious multiple dead body count suggests to me teleporting and item spawning. This is why you and your friends were banned from the server.
  19. I would be happy just to find a vehicle full stop. I rarely come across any vehicles, repairable or otherwise.
  20. I have been playing on a very frieldnly Unofficial Server and it has been the best fun I have ever had in a game - Saturday I play for full 14hours non stop and started out with a group of 3 of us and a tractor, and by the end we had 4 cars and a bike and a group of 12 randoms working together scouting for vehicles for each person. The thing I found great relief in was the fact that all cars found were fully fixed and full fuel, it just made the game a bit more exciting - anyone else feel this should be the same across all servers? Just a thought.

    Being Robin Hood

Yeah mate, was wandering from vehicle spot to vehicle spot on a server yesterday. Ca 15km total. Got 14 spots and not one single freakin car. Will now head back to my camp, get some firepower, 3 Jerry Cans and will wander along the edge of the map. Stealing one car and blow up all the others. Its freakin hilarious how some clans seem to hide the whole vehicles somewhere -.-"
  22. Find a server that isn't run by a clan. I found one and have found 5 vehicles. Pretty much every other server though has a large clan hoarding everything.
  23. So theres a limited amount of vehicles? Cause a dude was like "I have 10 vehicles in my camp lolz 1111!!1"
  24. Also we blow up the vehicles because we don't need them. We take the good stuff like NVG, AS50 and UAZ then blow up the rest since it's only garbage we don't need, now other players can find and repair them, and you're going to relocate your camp either way. Sometimes I wonder why people try to hide stuff like buses and civi cars in the woods, they do like 12km off road and are stick out like a sore thumb.
  25. Go and try to find bandit camps at the edges of the map where bandits hoard vehicles. Or, just run around while keeping an eye out for them. That's how a friend and I found a tractor yesterday (and then I crashed it into a tree, losing 11k blood, broke a leg and then spent an hour crawling to the Berezino hospital, but that's a completely different story).
